Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. I needed 2 new lightbulbs for my dimmable chandelier. I had a hard time finding the correct ones on my own but an employee came to my rescue. I was informed that they don’t make the kind I had anymore so I was shown what my options were and was able to purchase the correct bulbs and avoid having to make any type of return. I will always go to Goody’s over any of those big box stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s. I ALWAYS try to support the small businesses. They also offer much better customer service than the big box stores. Just go to Goody’s they will take great care of you.

I was at Goodys today and I was appalled by the actions of the manager whose name I believe is Robert. I needed an extra key made and didn’t realize I wouldn’t be able to charge it bc they require a minimum amount. The man standing next to me went to offer me a dollar and the manager gave the guy a hand signal to put his money back as if to say don’t help this lady. I ended up charging it but I was horrified by the managers actions and I will never shop there again. My parents have also gone to them for many years . The manager should be ashamed of himself! That was disgusting on your part and your a poor example of a manager! I was also embarrassed and I’m sure the gentlemen who tried to help me was too. Learn how to respect your customers because you lost a good one!

I have been going to this store for 15 years. I use it many times a month. While this experience shouldn't define the store , I have to write this review as nothing was resolved. The store as everyone knows is a good neighborhood store. Home Depot around the corner and why go there when these guys are always friendly.I had a nice person helping me and he asked a question over the 2 way radio. I could tell the person was around the corner . I was trying to make it easy and happen to see her replying back to sales rep that was trying to help me. I approached her and said "maybe I can explain what i was looking for" She held up her hand in my face and said" He is helping you" I replied saying I wanted to show you the item, she replied again " He is helping you"Customer service I have been doing for 35 years now. While this review wont slow down business or closed the store, its a reminder that people have choices when shopping . The lady was so rude I didn't even have a response. I explained it to another person that just said sorry and smiled.I looked at my records yesterday to see how much I have spent over the past 15 years. I could only see the past 8 years. It was over 91k .For a local store that that sits in the shadow of Home depot, someday the store will close its doors because of people like this.While the review will sit in the google cloud and based on the other reviews this is a 1 off, but the way she acted towards me is so unacceptable it needed to be written. Whoever you are in the green shirt, thank you for making me go somewhere else for no reason except because you are RUDE. Being nice costs nothing , being RUDE just cost you 91K.

Love the store they have everything and then some. It looks like a smaller neighborhood store from the outside, but they are truly a full-service hardware store. Mostly very helpful. Sometimes the men in the store can be a little gruff, but otherwise friendly enough. They get the job done.

Just terrible. You want to go to places like this but the lady at counter should not be dealing with customers. Just straight up mean for no reason at all. As I was leaving to take my business elsewhere, the customer that was just leaving was complaining about her as well. Replacing her at the register would be a good idea.

Great place has amazing selection although this is about the 3rd time ive been treated like a 2nd class citizen, owner Rob has 0 remorse for customers, makes you feel like you should already know what he is thinking, doesn’t help with your needs just sends you to an isle blind again acts as if you should know exactly how to find everything. Almost makes you feel uncomfortable the way he talks down to you. Plenty of places have the same items for much cheaper without feeling like you're a hindrance coming to shop at his place of business. Staffs always friendly, its just the owner, not going back!!!

The store has virtually everything but for the rare exception they can get the CORRECT part quickly.They compete head to head with the big chains and are successful because they care about their customers and provide unparalleled service

😄The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to help with whatever you may need. Whether it’s simply getting a key cut, finding a specific bolt or having a piece of glass cut, they’re there, on the floor, making sure their customers are taken care of. They don’t try to hide in isles or talk to each other and ignore you, like unfortunately, the larger corporate hardware stores employees tend to do. The amount of merchandise in Goody’s is astonishing as well. The store is always kept clean and neat. The prices are not only comparable to the larger hardware stores but they actually beat their prices on a lot of merchandise!🤩 I highly recommend going to Goody’s instead of the larger stores! You’ll be in and out of Goody’s so much faster than if you went to the larger stores, and have exactly what you need! Save yourself some time & money and go to Goody’s! You’ll be glad you did!💯😁

Goods is the best place to go instead of the big box retailer. Danny and the staff will help you find what you need. They are very knowledgeable and there is always someone with experience. Even if you have a job bigger that you can handle they will recommend a person that can do it for you. . Even cutting a key they get it right every time I wish I can give them can give them 10 stars

Always a pleasure, go here to get periodic work supplies for #GatewayTerminal. Always kind ask me if I want a drink, one of the few reminders of how small town hardware stores are supposed to be like and were thru my younger days. Not that 40 is old yet, least not to me since I just turned 40 haha

Goody's is the traditional, small town hardware store plus a whole lot more. Seriously, if you need it, they have it. Tell an employee what you want, ge/she will inform you of the aisle number and location within the aisle to find it. It's awesome! Family run. Friendly folks. Reasonable prices. It's my go to for my everyday hardware, etc. needs.

Goodies carries many, many items not found in Home Depot or Lowes. The prices of some items are significantly higher than the larger stores, so I don't do all my hardware shopping there.

Store hours not accurate. They now close at 4:30 PM. Store is not actually a True Value Hardware either. Very unwelcoming staff. Store is very cramped inside. Not sure if this overall experience is the norm as I only shopped there once, but it did not leave a great impression. This uncertainty is reflected in my rating because I normally would give this level of customer service one star.

It is nice when you can go into a hardware store and there is someone to assist you who actually knows what they are talking about. I had a bunch of screens redone - Dan and the rest of the staff at Goody's could not have been any more eager to help. The final product and service was exceptional.

Went to buy spackle supplies. They had a ton of staff members throughout the store so it was very easy for me to ask for help to find the aisles I needed. Was in and out in under 15 mins. Definitely would have spent longer if I had gone to a bigger store where it's difficult to track down even a single staff member.

Worst customer treatment I have ever experienced, used to go there once or twice a month and pick up things I needed but I haven't set foot in there in years. I'd rather spend my money where my business is appreciated. Very rude treatment from the manager/owner, worse than the help. You won't see any minorities there either. Highest prices around too, they should retire, gotta have enough $ by now !

Won’t go back. Previous visits have been good. Bought a 1 gal gas can that wasn’t priced. The shelf price said $9.95 but it rang up as $12.99. Purchased a propane tank refill and the cashier never gave me a receipt or called for an attendant to meet me at the propane filling station. Once he handed me my change at the register he just walked away and left me standing there. I had to call another cashier for my receipt and to get me someone to fill my propane tank.

This store is a wonderful hidden gem in East haven. The customer services is one of the best, that I have experienced in a retail business in a very long time. Would recommend them to anyone. Please keep the fantastic atmosphere going.

This is the Old Reliable Hardware Store. Always Professional and willing to help you out. The staff know their products and will guide you to where they are. A box store can be good, then there are places like Goodys', you can be glad they're around the corner.Big Fan!!!

Used to be a great store but the management has passed to the next generation and he is NOT nice, not accommodating of repeat customers. so it is often not a pleasant experience. They do have jut about everything, but so do other True Value hardware stores around.
