I drove an hour and a half to check this place out and it did not disappoint at all. By far the best variety I’ve seen anywhere in ct. They had a great selection of natives, perennials, trees, shrubs, succulents, citrus, and more. The knowledgeable staff helped me with any questions and were very friendly. The prices weren’t bad and everything looked great. I’d give 6 stars if I could and I definitely plan on coming back in the future! I highly recommend going here

What a treasure! So many beautiful, healthy houseplants to choose from. Everything from $4 prayer plants to large citrus trees. There is something to love and take home for every horticultural skill set. The folks at the desk are happy to field your questions and give advice on how to help your new plants thrive at home. The vibe is very relaxed, and I felt comfortable roaming for the greater part of an hour. I brought home a jasmine covered in buds ready to bloom for less than $20. Worth the trip from anywhere. Highly recommend!

The Ballek crew completed planting 12 plants (Rhododendron & Andromeda) to line the driveway. In addition to the health and beauty of the plants along with the knowledge/expertise of the crew, I was very impressed at how these professions used their hands to mix just the right portion of soil and nutrients for each plant. That's impressive and not very commonplace. Thank you!

I love coming here! The staff is so friendly and helpful and it really makes this place stand out from other garden centers in the area. Not to mention they have an amazing variety of plants in every season. Such a unique and beautiful place.

House plant heaven! I’m not from the area and didn’t have time to look at their amazing outdoor selection but houseplants were my goal. They have a HUGE gorgeous selection with fair prices. The staff is very friendly knowledgeable and helpful. Such a hidden gem 💎🌱😻

most wonderful nursery i've ever been to. they have an enormous variety of plants, hand-thrown clay pots, trees; literally anything and everything. they even have a potting station inside and are more than happy to pot plants for you when you purchase them. i've been going there for a few years now, and look forward to doing business with them for many years in the future.

Got this key lime tree from them. We were in the area for our Getaway trip. Knowing my plant addiction, my husband did some research and found this place. We were so glad we stopped by. We have been to quite many nurseries but this one is truly special. First of all, you can tell that all the plants here are taken care of with love. Second of all, the people here are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I've learned so many things about citrus after the conversation with them. I saw on their brochure that they have classes and tours. Definitely coming back for those.

I've been to dozens and dozens of garden centers all around the state and around the country in my life, and by far Ballek's is my favorite. The amazingly friendly stuff, the massive selection of some plants I never even knew existed, and somehow everybody who works there seems to know everything about every single plants and even how to take care of them and will answer pretty much any question you have. Six stars if I could, highly recommended

A special place!I came to the garden center with two pots that I needed to fill for my place of work. Everyone was very helpful.My pots look great.We made quite the mess trying to decide which plants to choose. They have a wide selection of different plants. So much to choose from, all of the employees are very knowledgeable and patient.I will return. I also purchased some decorative fall wear, it really is beautiful.

Absolutely, the best collection of plants and prices are lower than online stores and most nurseries, for fuller/larger plants! Variety of plants is one of the best I’ve seen! Tons of garden decor- statues and benches too.Nice, Friendly and helpful staff. Bonus-3 cute cats!

This place has one of the best fuchsia selection amongst the garden centers in Connecticut. You will also find some really interesting plants such as the vanilla vines, tea plants and coffee plants in the green house. The succulent section is not too bad too. After all the hard work shopping for plants, you can get some snacks and refreshments outside at the stall besides the parking lot.

Every Spring and Summer, Ballek's is our go-to resource for everything in the yard and gardens. They have an enormous selection, a lot of helpful and knowledgeable staff, and a willingness to order anything we need that isn't already in stock. They are mindful of organic practices, a huge plus for us. And they never mind helping load the truck if I need help. We love this place and are grateful for this wonderful resource.

What beautiful plants this place has, for both inside and outside. Plants you can't find other places. They sell all kinds of pots and gardening supplies too. They have a lot of nice statues for your garden and other decorations. Worth a trip to check it out if you love to garden.

An outstanding store with an outstanding selection and staff. My brother and I were offered tea when we were there, as well as received very pleasant greetings from employees. It smells great in the store, too, and is definitely one of my favorite places to be.((Also; I accidentally left behind an empty cup of tea because I got excited by a plant and forgot I set the cup down... Sorry!))

This is a gem of a nursery. First, it's a beautiful ride through Haddam and East Haddam. Secondly, the staff is very friendly and helpful. This is my go to place over big box store garden centers. We pay alittle more, but the quality and variety are worth it. Ballek's is my first stop at the annual Garden and Flower Show in Hartford because their displays are wonderful. We even visit in the winter when we need a taste of spring. After Ballek's, we stop for lunch at one of the local restaurants for lunch.

Ballek's is a top notch nursery with staff that really know their stuff. While many nurseries will close for the cold months, Ballek's main greenhouse is chucker-block full of house plants, over wintering citrus trees, and more pots then I've ever seen in one place. They have plants for terrariums and fairy gardens as well as plants that don't need soil or water. If they don't have it, chances are, they can get it. They also do flower arrangements. You can't go wrong.

This place is AMAZING! The staff-awesome and so helpful. And the plants…I could never work here because I’d never have a paycheck, but I’d have lots and lots of plants! This is a happy place to be indeed! 😁
