This place is really a hidden gem. The Monte Cristo I was told was the best he had ever had. The chicken and waffles are by most the best I have ever had, and nothing like homemade maple syrup to go on top. The grilled cheese, I was told, was out of this world with 5 different cheeses, tomato, and bacon. Don't forget to grab some yummy treats on your way out. I know I did 😉

This establishment is a staple of the town of Bridgewater and for good reason. Aside from the historical significance of the building itself, the food is always delicious, pricing fair, staff genuinely friendly, and atmosphere welcoming. We always feel like we are visiting family when we are here.During warmer weather, there are several tables out front for a nice view of the Town’s main thoroughfare. They stock a generous variety of the mouthwatering Bridgewater Chocolates (of course!), and their store has some light food, treats, and odds & ends. There is also an area with home goods and gifts - all really nice quality.I highly recommend Bridgewater Village Store & Bistro for a tasty meal, or as a spot to stock up on some food and drinks for a road trip or drive around town.

I have officially stopped coming here after yesterday's interaction. Last times were just as bad and this just did me in. For one, there is no management. The staff seems to not know what their tasks are here. Everyone's confused, bumping into one another, can't answer customers questions on items ect; the pastries and baked goods in the case were so sad looking for Saturday brunch time with not to mention flies inside the case. 3 iced coffees and a small container of turkey chili all for 20$. I had to be rung up wrong!! I asked for some toppings for my chili and they were all out. How is that your soup of the Day and offer nothing to top off my incredibly bland over priced cup of chili!? I'm a chef so a lot was really bothering me. My iced coffee was a super long wait, simply because the staff were just all over the place. Oh yeah and no cream available for my incredibly over priced coffee!! The to-go cups are a joke. I feel like for the money I spent you can at least make your patron feel like they aren't drinking out of a fast food cup. Another thing, there is no menu on the wall for to-go customers. I heard people asking staff what do they offer and what cost? Their answer was "you can look at our dine in menu" how insufficient is that for a customer. It seems like you are just wondering as a patron what you can order. This is just another establishment owned by a millionaire with zero idea how to run a successful resturant. it's sad because they're really screwing up an excellent business opportunity for the local community. And believe me, this is a small community and this isn't the first time I've heard many complaints about this establishment.

Brilliant. Friendly. Delicious. Our waitperson, Sabrina, was so friendly and down to earth. Making us feel very comfortable and welcome. We'll be back. It's a bit of a ride, from My. But, oh so worth the journey. Family brings us in and doesn't disappoint.Warm olives were my favorite, and he enjoyed the fried Brussels sprouts. The short ribs with paperedelle, the NY strip........ deliciousness. Cooked to perfection.Could I just come in and drink another stout and have the truffle fries, please?Cozy. Happy. Friendly.I'm in love.

Beautiful place lovinglyrestored by the thoughtful proprietor. Nice lunch spot and good treats. In the former last "dry" town in CT...a full bar! Having acocktail, beer or wine with eats at the outdoor seating during the season is wonderful in this quaint and historic locality. I'm a local, proud to have this gem of a hangout in our little town.

Excellent little cafe/bistro in Bridgewater. Very clean and well decorated inside with a small store and great chocolates. Food was excellent and the soup was incredibly good. Highly recommend this place

Stopped by for a late lunch. Got The Murphy sandwich (chicken cutlet) and it was huge. Very filling. Fries were really well done, too. Beautifully redecorated since I was last here with a small dining space, selection of homemade bakery items, and a small market. The chocolate looked so good but I'm too full to try it now.Prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of foods.Cute little place to stop by in the Connecticut backwoods.

The service at this place is horrendous. I'm pretty sure the first waitress was fired and the second waitress failed us just the same. Had to go inside to place my order and to cash out. The avocado toast sat on untoasted floppy bread, not giving this place another chance. And the guy at the counter was rude to his staff which made me feel uncomfortable. Go some place else!

Was hoping the restaurant would be so much more upscale and high quality. Food is mediocre and inconsistent sadly. The store is virtually useless to the community. It has a smattering of basics, but the gas station offers that, and does it better. Why not offer something different like a fine wine and cheese shop, excellent pastries and local farm products? Think it's trying to be everything to everyone and that is never is never a recipe for success. Since it's really the only spot for miles, it has an excellent opportunity to really stand out.EDIT: Ordered takeout. Fish and chips...the fish was still frozen in the middle-gross! Who manages this place? It's a disaster and can't understand how they keep their doors open! PLEASE! Someone who knows how to run a restaurant and food store step in....Bridgewater needs this place to be great!UPDATE: A new manager and later restaurant hours has been a much needed improvement. Still wish they'd get the store in better shape. Would be an amazing service if they offered a small selection of gourmet products...wine, cheese, some produce

If you can get past the immature, entitled and way-too-young waitstaff, the food and the chocolates are absolutely worth the drive!

Lovely drive into Bridgewater. The deli over the years has changed. Im on the fence with that mostly because the charm moving towards a riverside eatery in Tarrytown. However I adore Maywood maple syrup. If you catch the deli at the right time it's truly wonderful.

We were passing by and did a pit-stop for lunch….and so glad we did so ! Very classy ambiance, warm & thoughtful staff and best part- AMAZING FOOD ….fish & Chips is best you’ll find in a 100 mile radius, but everything we ate was absolutely delicious. You can feel the high quality of ingredients. Not very close to where we live but We’ll come back for more ! Worth it.

I used to love bringing my kids here for breakfast but since the expansion I’m not a fan anymore. Stopped in on a Sat. morning for breakfast but we were told we must order from the brunch menu. My daughter asked if they would make a chocolate chip pancake and they did accommodated her. We were charged $13.25 for one pancake, no sides.

Always a good meal and staff. Hearty dishes, sandwiches, salads. The only place to eat in Bridgewater so you will see many locals. If you want to eat there at night make a reservation. Not a fancy gourmet restaurant but a place where locals eat and keep coming back. I am happy to recommend

My hot chocolate tasted like microwaved milk. My breakfast sandwich egg was undercooked. You can’t sit at the tables unless you order off of the menu consisting of a $15 avocado toast. This place is overpriced with nasty coffee and food.

Beautiful store. Great pie and cheesecake. Staff not up to par. One of the staff dropped a beer opener on the floor then proceeded to take the cap off a customer's bottle after a quick wipe w her hand. Another staff person stayed at other end of counter hunkered over on his phone not even looking up.

Talk about hidden jems. We stopped here while on a ride out in the sticks. This place had an incredible selection of tasty food. We were there about an hour before closing and the clerk told me that they could give us a discount on the donuts. We had our dinner and grabbed a half dozen of the best donuts i have ever had. My family and i will definitely stop in at some point in the future.

We had been there many times in the past,We love the bridgwater chocolate in the case.Yesterday's experience left us surprised and disappointed how rude and unprofessional the server was.We just walked in the store after a long drive from Danbury mall to bridgwater, I thought I can treat the family with a nice lunch, bridgwater chocolate and ice cream.I approached the counter and a nice girl replied my greeting with smile, so far so good"Do you have any ice cream" I askedBefore she answered, a man reaching the phone to answer a call, jumped into my conversation, screaming.. "WE DO NOT HAVE ICE CREAM..WE ONLY HAVE WHAT IN THE FREEZER OVER THERE".. pointing at a cooler in the back of the store. And started talking on the phone. The girl turned white, speechless, confused, embarrassed by the guy's response.I told the family let us go somewhere else, I am not shopping here again. As I am walking out of the store, I approached a girl on the other end of counter, and I mentioned that man on the phone was rude and I will never be back again.A different man traced my step running out the store and approached me, he might be the owner or someone in charge, he apologized and promised he will take care of it.It is too bad, to see good people do the hardest work to keep a pleasant environment and quality service and all been lost because one selfish and unprofessional act.I am not sure why he acted that way, but it is no excuse. My rating is not related to the food or quality of products. It is based on the quality of service I received. It should be (-10) if there was any minus reviews.I sure hope that someone from management reads these reviews, because there is definitely a trend of bad reviews here.

Great food! They are definitely doing everything right in the kitchen here! Everything is always fresh and exciting. It is always worth a drive down. Wine/cocktails are a little lackluster, but the food speaks Volumes!

The atmosphere of the Bistro is beautiful, however, this is the second time I have been there within the last month and I have seen whom I would assume to be the manager verbally harass his employees in front of customers. You should be ashamed of yourself. So uncalled for and completely unprofessional.I’m glad I saw the young lady walk out on you today. I hope she quit. You have lost a loyal customer.Btw. I give you no stars.

I love this quaint restaurant! Their Mac and cheese, steak, lamb chops, and fresh apps are all delicious. All of the desserts are made in house and are to die for, especially the Nutella peanut butter pie that was a special that night! I think it's so charming how it's a restaurant and country store all in one, and you can't leave without getting some Bridgewater chocolates! I highly recommend taking a drive out here and visiting this charming town and restaurant.

Food quality is poor like fast food. We ordered French toast which was very thick and dry with 3 pieces of bacon, fish and chips with thick batter. If they can not make good food they should go back to basic American foods. It is pricy and foods were terrible.

I went here for over 20 years. It was better before they gentrified the place. Expect to pay $5.10 for a danish. The quality of everything varies day to day. I stopped going. Too bad but seems they have incrementally pushed out any blue collar types. A definite place for bmw driving yups
