I've been seeing Dr. Fitch for my pet pigeons for almost a year. Not only are the rates extremely reasonable for an exotic/avian vet, but Dr Fitch has been very accommodating. She was willing to consult other board certified avian vets (and name names) to alleviate a concern about a medication. She was even able and willing to see a new bird (a lost racing pigeon I picked up) on short notice. When one of my birds passed, Dr Fitch and the entire staff were so compassionate and totally up front about necropsy options and pricing both with them and with a nearby vet school. I really couldn't be happier with the care received at Bethel Vet

Very disappointed to say in the least. If you choose to use this clinic bring your full wallet. They don't care about anything else!I took my 2 dogs to them however they over charged me on medication and visits. I understand they need to be paid for their service but to take advantage of clients is unethical. I made a visit to bring my bunny and was late for the visit, they cancelled my appointment! My bunny needed to be seen and after I told them he is 16 they refused to see him! My 13 yo dog needs medication, was told by the vet there's nothing more they can do just buy the medication from them at an over charged price, when I requested a prescription I was denied! I've never seen such horrible treatment of client or patient before!

Couple years ago I had a disappointing experience with this veterinary office because they offered unnecessary services and inflated my bill. I visited the clinic with my dog for a routine check-up, but the veterinarian recommended several expensive tests and procedures that seemed excessive. When I sought a second opinion from another vet, they confirmed that many of the recommended services were unnecessary. This left me feeling taken advantage of and frustrated with the veterinarian's ethics and professionalism. I would caution others to be wary of such practices and seek multiple opinions when faced with an unusually high bill for pet care.They also charged me for my dog's grooming while nothing was done, no nail trim, no bath.I decided to give another try a year ago and it was the same. Over $1000 for domestic bunny's check up, offering microchip and vaccines, really?Don't take advantage of people who love pets and/or have children who love pets, and will do everything for them.The worst veterinarian I've ever met.

I brought my dog Huck to Bethel for a few years and I'm so grateful for their work. He had a chronic stomach issue and they were the first vet to really work with me to investigate and explain the steps along the way, and it's been happily resolved ever since. They undoubtedly improved his quality of life. Plus I never waited for an appointment and billing was always straightforward. The only reason I'm forced to change is because I live too far away to keep it up - if something serious arises, I'll probably make the trek from New Haven again. Absolutely recommend to those in the area!!

Dr. Fitch did a great job on my dog's spaying but didn't do a great job on her cherry eye. It popped back out after 11 days and I'm trying to get reimbursed. I'm hoping they will do the right thing and just reimburse me for the mistake. I had to take my dog to a specialist and he was even more expensive. When a mistake happens, doctors need to step up and resolve it quickly.

This is the worst vet hospital in Bethel. They’re all about money and little to do with the health of our pups. They have a receptionist, who is wicked rude. Her name is Kiera, she falsifies documentation saying I hung up on her when simply the call disconnected, while I was driving. I missed one appt, which I called the same day to say I wasn’t able to leave work, and today when I wanted to make an appt, since my Australian Miniature Shepherd is limping, they said I had to leave a credit card # in order for them to see Darcy. Imagine if your doctor refused to render care unless you gave a credit card # prior to your visit? It would be unethical and a violation of EMTALA. I called back and asked them to provide me with both of my pet’s records. In them this Kiera lady falsely documented encounters she had with me. She even said that I shouted at her, when clearly I didn’t. This vet prioritizes profits over the health of our pets. Stay away from this awful place. After 20+ years of being a loyal client I left the practice today because of what I saw in the Dr. notes about me being disgruntled as they cancelled my appt last minute with no ETA of when they could get me in. I said you need to get him in today or I will need to go somewhere else. The dog wasn't walking! When I called Jess regarding what I saw in the notes she basically told me I had been a problem for years and she became quite hostile - problem solved - I'm gone. I guess being an advocate for your animal and being upset you cannot get your dog in when he is unwell is a problem. Not leaving because of either of the Dr.s - Leaving because of the Office Manager and the front staff desk.. Putting notes like that in clinical records - unprofessional.

We have been with this practice for 8 years since moving from Massachusetts. 5 pets, 2 dogs and 3 cats have received care here. Excellent, friendly, caring staff. Post card reminders in the mail, and as a pet Mom I always feel supported. I don't know what all the negative reviews are about but I trust this practice and have been very happy. Most people don't realize that dogs and cats are very much like children. When children are sick they have to see a doctor. In terms of testing, yes they run tests when necessary because they CARE and because they are doing their job. They NEVER run tests without first consulting the pet owner and explaining procedures and costs involved. Don't get angry with the Vet because they suggest treatment. Animals are not accessories. They are living beings with needs. If you don't care to invest in the quality of life in your animal then you shouldn't have an animal. Dr. Fitch and Dr. McNamara are wonderful caring individuals as well as every technician and staff member.

As a dog owner of 8 years, we've had our fair share of different vets always looking for the best of the best and Bethel Veterinary was one we wished to have known since he was a puppy. My dog loves going to the vet (rare) but proof they take good care of any animal being my kitten now goes and does great every time. Everyone from front desk to vets are very knowledgeable, organized and professional not to mention it is affordable. 10/10

This is the best veterinary hospital I have ever had the pleasure to bring an animal to. You can tell that everyone who works there really cares. They gave me 4 more precious months with my dog, Samson. I was bringing him every few days to get dialysis after he had a rough infection. After he passed, they would check up on me, and sent me a beautiful card signed with special notes from everyone who worked there. The second I opened the envelope and saw the care put into it, I literally burst out crying. It was a joy to go there. I miss seeing them. If I ever get a pet again I will be sure to go back. If anyone working there sees this: I am so grateful to you all. You gave me a chance to really celebrate Sammy. I have to thank Dr. Fitch specifically here. I wouldn't trust another animal to anyone else. You were always honest with me with what to expect. I truly cherish my time with you guys. I've been meaning to drop by flowers or a nice card. I have been using Bethel Vet for 10+ years and have had nothing but exceptional experience. The doctors have always gone above and beyond to ensure my cats get the best medical attention and advise. There prices are very competitive with other local vets and would highly recommend both doctors on staff.When I had to make the very difficult decision of putting my cat down both doctors went above and beyond to ensure I was making the right decision. Dr. Fitch was nice enough to drive a half hour to my house to make an extremely difficult situation a little less stressful.My cats are very much apart of my family and truly feel they are in the best hands at Bethel Vet.

Since the other review sites clearly cater to the complainers, I am writing on here to set the record straight. Dr. Mac and his staff are the most professional animal care people I have ever known. I have been using them for many years with all of my dogs, even when I had lived a few states away. It was always worth the trip to make sure my buddies got the best care possible. The entire staff truly cares about their job and the pets that they care for. For example, I had to put one of my dogs down because she was suffering from cancer. This was the toughest day for me, and the entire staff was there for support. Literally, there was not a dry eye in the house. I can't thank them enough for their time and devotion to everyone's pets, it is a rare thing these days, and it is truly appreciated.Disclaimer: I have not received any compensation, nor incentive to write this review. Have to say so happy and greatful for them , my Dog Milo Had an issue and was taking care as an emergency, after I call and made an appointment they calle back and told me to come in as soon as I can. Dr. Francis Paulin took care of Milo and another super nice lady technician (apologist if mistaking her tittle) but took long time no rush and listening to me , checking Milo hair by hair bone by bone to give a diagnostic, excellent and super sweet, beside that the entire service of the reception and other Docs around politely saying hello. So grateful my Dog 2 days later was healed.

I’ve been coming here for the past year. I’ve always liked the doctors, they are very nice but what I experienced this morning in regards to my puppy, all I can say is wow.My puppy has been sounding like he is hacking so I called Newtown animal hospital at 4am because I was worried. They had me email them a video and they told me my puppy has kennel cough.They told me to call my vet in the morning and email them the video.I called Bethel animal hospital this morning and spoke to one of the RUDEST receptionists, her name was Kiera. This isn’t the first time Kiera has given me nasty attitude over the phone.I told her what was wrong with my pet and that he has kennel cough and that I wanted to email them the video of what he was doing. Right away she said NO! They don’t accept videos. I said OK well I was there last week (Bethel animal hospital) for 2 small visits(one where they just checked and touched his ears) and the other where they shaved him down, where I was charged about $400 so all I needed was a prescription for my puppy since the other doctor already told me he has kennel cough.She said well why didn’t they just prescribe you the antibiotic! Excuse me? Newtown animal hospital had me call my dogs main doctor to get the prescription from them, why is this a problem?She got a big attitude with me over the phone which I think is very UNPROFESSIONAL. But no she wanted me to book now another apt when the doctor already said he has kennel cough to then again charge me a huge fee for coming in.

They always take excellent care of my dog. The staff are friendly and love animals. They follow up with phone calls after a visit to the vet to check in on my dog. Would definitely recommend! Our dog boards there and is always excited and happy to be there!

I scheduled an ultrasound for my pet, the professional was almost 3 hours late, I couldn't wait and when I tried to reschedule I learned that I had lost my $200 depositAnd no one had warned me that I would lose the signal if it was rescheduled.Absurd.

Everyone who works here have been so amazing with our dogs. They are so friendly and I know that my dogs are treated well because they wag their tails and are always ready to go back to see the vet or to be boarded! The vets are all so kind and knowledgeable.

Bethel Veterinary Hospital is horrible. I have been a client for 20+ yrs. On 5/11/21, a prescription for my pet was written that could not be filled. I was treated rudely & hung up on by the staff and the Office Manager was completely unprofessional and should be fired. This is a shame because I liked their services.My pet was left untreated. I'm filing complaints with the better business bureau and every medical association. DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE.

I wouldn't trust anyone else with my fur babies. They are truly the best! For almost 10 years we have been patients we have never had a bad experience. Dr. Mac has always been wonderful and when he has been off Dr. Fitch is amazing too! They all love what they do, they love animals and it shows.

I just dropped off my hedgie this morning after I noticed his eye was swollen. They were extremely professional and considerate. The way they talked about my hedgehog and treated him was that of what you’d expect as if he were their own. Dr. Fitch was very prompt with his exam and explained everything very clearly and walked through everything I needed to do for him, and he was so relaxed around her. This hospital is also fairly inexpensive compared to others I’ve been too, I was only charged ~$180 for his exam, medicine AND a lab test to be sent out for his stool. The doctors, techs and staff are so compassionate and understand that your pet is part of your family. This vet is the worst I have ever met in my life, they are only interested in money, they are not honest, I had my cat sick with diabetes' one Saturday got sick and my vet Cat Clinicis closed on Saturday so I ended up here but they never told me how bad that she was they saw her for 10 minutes they gave her something for nausea and they charged me $513 on monday at 1 pm my vet put her to sleep this was in august 2022. They don’t care our babies it’s all about $$$$

Incredible place, the staff is warm and welcoming. They greeted every furry family member like it was there own. They were especially gentle with one of my dogs that's afraid of everything, giving him time to relax.
