I just started my time volunteering at Our Companions Animal Rescue in Ashford. It is truly an amazing place! Beautiful property, perfectly setup to take care of these animals in need. The staff are absolutely amazing!! They care so much about the animals in their care. I look forward to spending more time getting to know more of the animals and staff that make it such a special place. I was working here up until recently (had to take a brief hiatus for my pregnancy, will definitely be back after baby) and let me just say this is the best place in the world to work for. They care so much about their animals and about their humans too! I have never been treated so well as an employee and I can say firsthand that each and every single animal gets the highest quality of care. Staff work non-stop to ensure that each animal has not only their basic needs met but also make sure they are enriched daily and given plenty of advanced behavior training, cuddles and attention every single day. Our founder, Susan, is literally my real life hero and she has shaped this organization to be a truly wonderful place for all animals. Cannot praise Our Companions enough!

This is an animal-first organization that truly cares about the welfare of their "clients". I've recently had the opportunity to spend some time working on the property and have witnessed first hand the lengths that are gone to ensure quality of life for the dogs and cats.If you're considering volunteering / workingfor this organization, please look into it. Wonderful organization with a great mission!I've been during public hours, and the campus is beautiful. I've had friends that have both been able to keep their dogs because of the work here, and that have been able to volunteer here. Would totally recommend!

Everyone we encountered at our Companions has been Wonderful! We adopted our sweet cat Archer last week. He is such a blessing and brings so much happiness to us each day. We hope to donate more needed supplies soon and ask that others do if able to. The staff provide great support and encourage adoptive parents to call with any questions or concerns. The facility is happy and pleasant to be at. The animals are so deserving of forever homes. God bless!Melissa and chris

When we lived in Manchester, Ct., we found a feral kitty who just had babies. When I called Our Companions, they were so helpful and told me about a voucher program they have that helps the feral community to become spayed/neutered one at time, from participating veterinariansTNR (Trap Neuter Release) program.I no longer had to worry about adding to the population of feral cats in our area at the time. They were released back to their homes with a clipped ear.They are really wonderful people at Our Companions.

This is the most amazing place I’ve seen for pets. They truly care for the pets they have, and they seem to know these pets very well. Their cats and dogs all have massive rooms to live in and have the best amenities available. We are convinced that this is going to be our place for adopting pets.

This is the most excellent place to adopt and provide a forever home to a cat or dog (or both). The staff is so genuine and knowledgeable and the facilities are spotless and impeccable. Each cat has its own room with a private catio (cat patio)!!!!!

I was blown away by the cat cottage. 1 or 2 cats have a whole little room to themselves with their own cat door out to their own catio! Cat tree in every common area, every room, & every catio! Lots of toys. TV screens to play cat dvd's on. Very home-like environment with lots of people furniture too. Generator to keep everybody warm in a power outage. Both dog cottages have double gated fenced areas & the cat cottage has double entry porches so nobody accidentally gets out.

This is the best possible way for cats and dogs to live until they get their forever home. No cages! Everything they need is provided and the animals are loved by staff and volunteers.

Someone left their beautiful orange kitty cat in a cat carrier in the freezing cold and thanks for my instincts I went an checked and of course there was a kitty freezing because an owner just dropped kitty off at night. Thankfully I got to keep the kitty over night till necco came an got em in the am
