Dollar General is one of my go to stores. They have good prices on everything. They have a good stock of staple foods ..snacks..soups..pet food.. candy... dairy and small freezer section. Also paper goods and decorations for Holdays. They really carry a selection of everything you would find in a larger grocery/retail store. And it's great if you live in out of the way areas cos that's where they put them. Clover Valley is their food brand and most of the products are pretty decent. I usually go to the DG near UConn but this one is just as good. In fact I stop at most Dollar Generals when I'm traveling anywhere and stock up for the trip!

This Ashford gem Dollar General excels in many areas. Some of the pros start even before you enter the store such as its convenient location, ample, clean and well lit parking. As you walk in, you are always greeted with a friendly hello from one of the shift managers or counter attendants. The store is laid out as most DGs are: food to the right and the remainder logically flowing from food-drinks-household needs, etc. Where this store excels: the clear care and chemistry between the daytime shift staff: The shift manger S is always friendly and he and his staff L consistently go above and beyond--grabbing or checking the back for stock. I have dietary restrictions and they are more than helpful. In fact, each guest/customer is greeted and daily specials or upcoming sales are always marked. The entrance of the store could do with better lighting and the store could be more organized with clearer aisles (for those whose mobility is reduced). Lastly, if the store manager wants this unit to be an all-star store they will have to give some TLC to it and to those who are there to support them.

Great location, its easy to drop in and pick up a couple of items. Without having to drive all the way to a Walmart or another store. This would have been enough for me to give it 4 stars generally.Today though the store is locked up and no employees are here despite it being an hour after the scheduled opening time. Minus 1 star.

Easy access, just off a highway and I needed a stop to quench my thirst.Got a gallon of filtered water and used the rest room which was kept locked and clean.The staff were attentive and I received a greeting upon entrance.

Willington,Ct location. Parking lot was very clean. Easy to find items we were looking for. Associate was friendly. Was a little busy but customers were taken care of quickly.

The Ashford store doesn’t have some of the things the Storrs location does and some of their products are marked up more. It’s convenient to shop in town and I like DG but if I can go to Storrs I do.

I looked online on their website to see when they are open on Friday night and on their website it says 9:00 p.m. for every other day except for Friday,Fridays they close at 11....well this is wrong because I'm in the parking lot right now and they are closed Why is this on their website For their hours of operation? it's very irritating when we come down here to go shopping for something and they're closed when they say they are open
