I ordered chili, fries, and a double cheeseburger. The chili was disappointing. It was about a step above canned. The fries were decent, a nice shoestring style. The burger was nicely done, fresh, hot, and tasty. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 7.6.

Ashford Dairy apparently has changed hands because the food is not what used to be served. The fish and chips had less fish (overcooked with no coleslaw or soup but plenty of tarter sauce) for a higher price. The burger was decent but when asked for ketchup, "we already gave you two packets." (Only for the f&c) So bring your own condiments.

I just visited the Dairy bar .. to take my pups (PET FRIENDLY)for their 1st ice cream! What a great time they had with the workers and we and the Girls enjoyed the very great tasting soft serve.We will be a regular there now!! Thank you

Awesome burger and hot dog, great soft serve. They also had veggie burgers - big plus and their prices are definitely reasonable! We'll be back.

great pricing. fast service. the big burger was big enough my dog got some of it. overall i was very pleased. we got a fish sandwich the big burger an order of curly fries and mozz sticks. afterward a sundae and a bowl of cookie dough. all for just over 30 bucks.

I would have given it 5 stars except for the milkshakes my daughter and i got. The food was very good. We got a chili dog and hot dog as well as onion rings, which were very good. The issue was with the milkshakes we ordered. We both ordered strawberry ones. They have strawberry ice cream, but the shakes were made with vanilla ice cream and strawberry syrup. They tasted artificial and almost chemically. They should tell you this if you order one. I would have just gotten vanilla. Especially when they're almost 7.00 each.

This is the place! Great sandwiches and burgers made with high quality ingredients. And don't forget the ice cream (Giffords!) or soft serve. My personal favorite is the "chocolate lovers " deep chocolate with fudge chunks! This place is a great summer tradition on route 44 in Ashford CT

Ice cream is great, I got the roast beef wrap and my wife got the turkey and an order of onion rings, definitely higher prices and the wraps were just soo salty, I can't stand the taste of salt and that being said, I would go back for the ice cream and maybe the rings but never for the wraps.

Got a hot dog and burger. Hot dog was great. Loved the toasted rolls. Hamburger was very good. Will be stopping here on Wednesdays on my truck route more often.

Only speaking about the soft serve sunday. Not impressed. I ordered one medium with caramel and one large with hot fudge. The price that is charged for the Sunday alone is on the steep side but then to charge $.75 for the sauce is a bit much. Nothing special to make this stop more than a one night fling. Even from the start the waitstaff noticed me at the order window and allowed me to stand for 8 minutes (yes I timed) before even coming to the window. Then not even a nice greeting. My advice, Google buck's soft serve and drive the extra few miles and start that love affair. Where you won't have to sell your kidney to get into an ice cream coma. Bad reviews are not my thing, but getting cheated on the very thing I so love by the ice cream girl is worse.

Update 7-31-22: Still a great spot for a hot dog after a ride!Great little spot to take the kids or a destination to escape to without the kids! Order and pickup is located outside due to covid-19. There are covered picnic tables available. Plenty of parking. Easy access for motorcycles. Not a whole lot of ice cream flavors, but there's lots of toppings available and you really can't go wrong no matter what you choose.

Love the much needed renovation! We don't usually go for the food but ended up eating there for dinner with family one night and we all loved it! Chicken Tenders, Clam Roll, Cheeseburger and Fries were all very good. We will definitely go back again and not for just the Ice Cream!

Small but food is good. Foot-long hotdogs are delicious. Ice cream is good too. Outside seating. Only downside is there are no facilities. Should have at least porta-potties.

I have been coming here for years! I still enjoy the delicious Ice cream they make. They have many things to choose from for food it's so hard to choose what I want! I was looking for something like this after coming back from summer camp! Wish there was a 10 star!

This place is great for ice cream iffy on the food. Wish it was open year long but they always close down after Labor Day for this reason alone I give it 3 stars. If it was open year long 4.5 out of 5.

Love this place! I've never tried the food but it looks and smells yummy 😋 They have both soft serve and scoop ice cream both are delicious. The servings are generous at a reasonable price. I found it well organized for social distancing also.

I paid $4.50 plus tax for a small cone of mediocre hard ice cream. next time ill go to Dollar General and get a 1/2 gallon for less

I had a great experience at the Ashford Dairy Bar. My bacon cheeseburger was delicious and the fries were great! I really went all out and got some vanilla ice cream, smothered in hot fudge, and Oreo cookie pieces! It was nice having dinner outside on their picnic tables. The staff was really friendly and did a great job. Overall I had a wonderful experience at The Ashford Dairy Bar. I want to thank The Ashford Dairy Bar staff and owners for persevering through this tough time and serving our community.

Stopped for my annual summer ritual of a foot long hot dog - what a disappointment! Worst hotdog ever! I've seen better at gas stations. It was shriveled, dried out, cold in the middle, and looked like it was cooked yesterday! Never again, sad to say.

Only had a chocolate shake that was very good.The food menu looked like there were quite a few tasty delectables with the usual fare but also some interesting choices such as kielbasa with sauerkraut.

Unlike many others, I can't complain about the service; the girls were hospitable and friendly as well as prompt. I will say, however, that the food was mediocre even if the price was good. The fries were amazingly crispy but severely under seasoned. The tenders were again cooked well but had too much breading. The chili cheese dogs had an outstanding New England bun but the chili was just above gas station quality.Again, everything was just okay. The ice cream was good but it is Guilford so that isn't super surprising.

Awesome little spot, usually bring my daughter in after her softball games, and some fishing. Food is pretty spot on, give the curly fries a try! Ice cream always hits the spot too, whether it be soft serve, or out of the bucket. I tried a banana split once, and I'll tell ya never trying to take down that beast by myself again. Pricing is great, and everyone who works there is really polite.

Excellent place to eat out at. Me and the wife stopped there for ice cream and noticed that they have ice cream for dogs too. And I tell you what my dog loved it. First time he ever had one.

Husband got a banana boat and I got a small hot fudge sundae. Very disappointed. His banana boat 3 rinky dink scoops of hard ice cream when he asked for soft serve. No strawberry or pineapple sauce just hot fudge. Staff needs to be trained on how to make sundaes. Will never go back.

Ordered online and arrived at pick up time. Stood at the front of the line and was not acknowledged by any of the staff that continued to come to the window to call out numbers for guests that ordered on site. So after standing there being ignored for over 10 minutes I stopped one of the employees before they could quickly close the window on me again. They then handed me a bag with only 1 of my items and I am told the other item is no longer available. They need to keep there ordering menu up to date and in addition they had my phone number they could have called and told me about the outage to see if I would like another item. Instead I'm offered to order something else so I get to decide to order something and wait another 10 minutes while my wife's food gets cold because most likely it was sitting there ready to be picked up 10 minutes prior anyways while I waited in line. I politely declined their offer and asked for a refund. Service have always been just ok but they are friendly typically and the food is usually good. This lack of service is below average at best and giving them 2 stars is a gift.Other issue with online menus is it says the clap strip lunch comes with soup but no soup in the bag. Overall they need to add some focus on their online menu. I could just imagine if I orders a milk shake with one of the 20 flavors of gilford ice cream they listed actually being lucky and picking one of the 8-10 they actually have available. Instead I went with a soft serve one to because i know that's in stock.Overall this trip was just ok, very small portion of clam strips, milkshake clearly sat for more than 10 minutes based on how melted it was and the meatball sub is non existent so do not order it.A simple phone call prior to my arrival about the outage or even a contact link on their web site would site to reach out with issues or complaints would have avoided this long winded review online.

I got a chocolate shake for the 1st time. Usually get a soft serve cone. This was one of the best shakes I've ever had! Great taste and extra, extra thick! Yum! Can't wait to go back.🍦🍧🍨

The worst experience I have ever had. First I got charged for a salad they said they didn’t have it and were down grading my salad so I asked if I needed to swipe my card again and they said no, never received the salad when asked they said I needed to swipe my card again. There portions are tiny. The chili dog looked like someone threw it down a hallway, and the chili was the same consistency as toothpaste. I got a buffalo chicken wrap, which consisted of straight hot sauce, not even the buffalo hot sauce. The lettuce and tomatoes inside the wrap were good and the French fries weren’t bad. Did not receive any napkins with the order as well. I wanted ice cream as well but was so dissatisfied with my whole order I just left.

We have been going here for years for their soft serve ice cream, which was creamy and delicious. But tonight, not so much! I don't know why they changed it, but it was awful! We get vanilla, and it was like ice milk. No flavor, not creamy at all. And I asked for a wafer cone and she handed us the ice cream in a sugar or waffle cone. I felt bad since she already made it and I wasn't paying attention, so I didn't say anything. But after I tasted it, I wished I had. Honestly, 1/2 way thru i ended up throwing it out. Thumbs down 👎 ADB! Bad move changing the soft serve... we won't be back for ice cream 😕
