Every time I go to this location, I have no issue with the little old lady with the big hair or the tall girl with the blue hair in the self checkout, but for some odd reason I am constantly being HAWK EYED by the miserable white girl with the ponytail and glasses. I don't steal, but I do occasionally have big orders to fulfill for my LARGE 9-person household. I know how to scan and bag so I rarely ever set off the "help is on the way" from the scales being uneven or not placing items in enough time for it to register that I put the item down. I've noticed she does this with a lot of black and Hispanic patrons. Why is it that we are the ones that need to be monitored, but not any of the white patrons? Does she automatically trust that those people will not steal? The self check out will be completely full, and people will have much larger orders than I do, but she's breathing down MY NECK??? She's very lucky that I can remain calm and collected because I'm used to this type of discrimination having lived in this population of mostly Caucasian people for a few years now, but one day she is going to catch the wrong person on the wrong day. She even had the nerve to try and SCAN MY ITEMS for me because she thought I was stealing, and I know thought process because I've worked grocery and retail and know all the tricks for potential shop lifters. This is completely unacceptable and I will be getting her name for a follow-up, so other POC shoppers can beware!!

Stop and Shop in Ansonia is a little more expensive than the others stores in the area, but they do keep the store clean. However, I have had to tell store staff twice that they have moldy bread on the shelf, especially near the deli, so I would always check what you are buying.The floral department is very nice and they carry good quality flowers. If well care for, their flowers can last up to two weeks if cut, watered, and given flower food. I design flower arrangements for hobby, and I have been able to create some very lovely arrangements with their flowers.Also you can get a few very nice after holiday bargains. The Teddy bear was very good quality but very inexpensive. I bought two and used one during the quarantine for children looking for Teddy bears. I have also bought a few tableware items after holidays like dishes that have been good quality.

The ordering online and pick up is the worst ! They need to do better ! Now if you place an order after 7pm you have to go inside because they don’t have anyone but no one tells you this not even online. I was sitting in the parking lot waiting cause I texted the number telling them my spot and no one came so I finally called and they told me. Also there’s been a few times that I have items missing and they make it so hard to get the items . So please review your items list carefully cause this grocery store is known to add stuff and not give it to you

At 10:45pm elderly employee Stephanie went down each isle yelling to each customer she found "get to the check out because, I'm closing the register" after I left at 10:55 she followed me to the exit and locked the door; visibly aggravated. How is this acceptable? I know it's closing time but we still need to operate with professionalism and respect for others. Disappointing experience.

The produce, mostly meat,is disgusting, gray and cut bad,out of date produce is not thrown away but put on sale. I've seen out of date seafood on sale that was way out of date, that could not only get you sick but kill you.staff isn't very helpful and stand around while there's 1 register open,no one bags for you and they close the self checkout early at night.not the worst one I've seen but not good either. I guess I was spoiled with the Stop&Shop in Fairfield, now that's a really nice one

I love this stop n shop, the employees are polite and friendly. The customer service lady is so nice, and she will help you with anything you need. Also, the floor employees are ready to help with anything as well, even if it's just to chit chat for a minute! Go to this one and you won't be sorry!

Wow this Stop and Shop location is dirty and very old. Im surprised to see a S&S in this condition in such a bustling town .. building is in bad shape with filth everywhere! Ceiling, walls, floors, inside and out just bad even siding missing in front and many broken areas on the building man oh man and they serve food!! Can’t trust that .. ever hear of a power washer?

I like this grocery store. The only downside is with their delivery and pick up , they are so slow with bringing the groceries out to you car. I have waited way over 30 mins outside and had to call them again to let them know . They just need more organization with it , I’ll just go inside from now on never using that service again.

Ordered the new Boar’s Head onion cheese today from the deli. Looked like slices of cheese when cut by the deli person. Got home and the cheese was a bunch of crumbs. I don’t fault the deli person but was it so old it crumbled !

Pretty nice ppl at the service desk, which is an important little section in the market. I have to get money orders from there and the customer service is quick and precise. Good staff selection.

I want to recommend you for this place because, there is a lot of variety. Vegetables and fruits are very fresh, also ice cream very nice. There is a lot of parking. I like it this place for grocery.

I have been a customer here for a few years. There is a pattern of abusive behavior by some of the employees, and some of the customers. I do not recommend this store.

Let me start off with the pharmacy staff are excellent when it comes to cashiers and front desk it's a different story. There are never any baggers to help and the cashiers are not friendly at all in fact unpleasant. The customer service is extremely lacking may go to Big Y instead where staff is friendlier and more helpful

The store is very clean , Little expensive but I like buy there.Today I feeling so bad because I bought Yautias and when the cashier ask me by the vegetable’s name ; I said that i don’t remember in English and he told me that why I buying something that if don’t know.My last name it went to my head.So only take a deep breath for not saying something bad.

This place went downhill they don’t have enough regular cashiers at the registers. Some people don’t like to use the self check outs because they are sensitive and most of the time u have to call an employee over to help and then they get aggravated. The deli never cuts my meats and cheeses right. They never have stuff in stock. There’s barley any scanners around the store to check prices. The bottle return room is dirty most of the time and I almost cut my foot open in then summer with my sandles. This place got worse.

The worst customer service. The woman in charge was incredibly rude and wasn't wearing a mask. Worst experience ever. The incredibly rude woman working there tonight could not have been any worse. Beyond rude, she was incapable and abusive. Other customers were also complaining about her. 6:30 tonight at customer service. She should be fired today! Worst experience ever thanks for your customer service that doesn't exist.

So i’m doing instacart on top of shopping for myself as a customer, instacart has a new rule that we can’t use apple pay anymore so i wasted my time shopping for the app,ANYWAYS i purchased my OWN items before i went through with the instacart order. On the other hand one of the employees with rainbow clown hair was grabbing the cart from me to put the groceries from instacart back. I told her wait my items i purchased are at the top of the cart she gives me a hard time letting me leave with my items, even asked the cashier that checked me out for a receipt the cashier TOLD her “yea” in a tone that the cashier even knew the rainbow clown was wrong for how she was acting. She still proceeded to want my receipt and when she realized I ACTUALLY PAID FOR MY ITEMS SHE LOOKED AND FELT SO STUPID!!! I’m not even gonna say she was racially profiling me cus she’s doing her job in a way but it’s always very hurtful that after the first time of me saying “THESE ARE MY ITEMS” she still proceeded to gather more evidence because she didn’t believe me and thought i was stealing.. but if i was a white woman would she have still did that to me? I will never forget this rainbow headed lady who i’m sure is in her 30s but looks like she’s pushing 50 who aging like a damn banana.. i feel bad for her that she’ll be there for the rest of her life at stop & shop and that’s why i didn’t react in a negative way. anyways as a customer y’all LOST me ! & she’s so lucky i was having a good day & didn’t say anything.

Disappointed they don't have a Goya section. All the Goya products are incorporated with liked items. So Goya beans with all beans, but there are products I have no idea where they might be. I looked where I thought they might be and gave up.

Many Self Checkouts Open.Only 2 open for Service with a Person.Couldn't find any for 10 items or Less ???Many Seniors standing in Line with less than 10 items. Most of them & Others Would Appreciate A Line for For 10 items or Less.

This Stop & Shop Supermarket is ragged. The shopping carts are newer so that's a plus!An ugly floor and stained, damaged and missing ceiling tiles, mediocre prices and meats that aren't good cuts anyway make for an unpleasant shopping experience. I can tell you with all honesty, this store isn't even close to fitting the description of some of these reviews, it's definitely dated and in need of a makeover. I prefer the Shop Rite nearby & will even travel to Big Y for a more affordable and more pleasant shopping experience. At least their stores are in better shape than this place is!

Gas station attendant is an awful human being.Yelling at me to turn my car off when I didn't even get out of the car yet. Mean and rotten attitude. We don't need it in the world today. What happened to showing people respect?I'll never buy anything from a stop and shop ever again.

Is it easy to shop lift from there.? A friend saw the lady ahead of her had 2 packages of steak on the bottom shelf of her cart. The steaks were not scanned thru the register. She reported it and they said she had to be seen leaving the store without paying.. friend watched the shoplifters put the steaks in her car and drive away.

The cashiers and service desk workers are so rude. One time l went through self checkout and really rude Judy came running over and asked if l rang up the four 8 packs of Soda in the bottom of my cart, as if l was stealing. Well, she looked at the screen and saw all 4 were scanned and rung up and didn't even apologize. How embarrassing!! Another day me and my daughter entered the store and there were NO carts. We told Judy and she didn't care. The kook handed us two small plastic totes instead of sending a worker to get some outside. We needed a large cart because we were each spending at least $200 each. And the store is always out of stock. For 6 mths they've been out of Low fat Churn style S&S mint chocolate chip ice cream. We are addicted to it. So now we go to ShopRite. They have it, plus tons of stock and treat customers like humans.

Human Resources rep (J**ie) was rude accused me of accidents I did not do. And I have proof. Human waste left on the dock for over a month. Brought safety concerns to managers , they didn’t care. Drivers received favoritism which is number one rule of union handbook. No individual special attention. I was made to drive a peapod truck with no headlights at night. Managers didn’t care. The job was good until the best manager left to pursue a better career. I would never work here again nor do I recommend using peapod. Drivers steal orders ,, use diesel from the trucks to heat their home. Black mold in containers where your food is being stored. I liked the job at first but after 4 years , it was so bad I had to seek medical advice due to. Anxiety from doing my job. Union doesn’t represent you properly. Previous rep was outstanding. Current rep. Horrible. Plain and simple. Do not work there. I even had a manager put in my credit card tips but only put 1/2 the amount because he did not like me becuAe I didn’t kiss his A.**. Horrible work environment.

At the gas pumps there is no signage indicating that one must, "face" the store when dispensing fuel. I was told I would not be able purchase fuel unless I turned my truck around. I consider this rude and obnoxious for the simple fact that I had already shut my truck off and had the hood open. As I stated before, there is no signage indicating to head in only. Don't treat customers like they are stupid Stop & Shop! As there are other places to purchase fuel and groceries for that matter🖕.

It's clean, convienant location, well stocked. Very easy check out never long lines witch is great. I would give 5 stars it it wasn't for the high price of merchandise but it's stop and shop it's to be expected their all expensive. This one is one of the better ones in CT and I've stoped at probably all if them. So 4 and a half stars if I could.

It's clean, the people are friendly and the veggies are always fresh. Prices and sales are competitive. Only place I shop. And I love when I can get 30 cents off of a gallon of gas at the gas station.
