Exactly what you wd expect at a 1950s themed road side hole in the wall diner!I wanted a simple no frills breakfast and a damn good cuppa joeWaitstaff is attentive but you have to be patient if they're other guests .Kitchen is limited and theyres a nostalgia in that!10 out of 10Would i go backYou betcha!

If you happen to be in Yampa and are starving there's really not many other if any other options available for you besides this diner. Unfortunately during our visit there was only one person working who also seemed to be running the front desk of the hotel attached to the diner. Tables where dirty when we sat even though there was not another person at the restaurant. She ended up getting a few other guests and someone who wanted to check in and then the phone started ringing. She seemed frantic to do all that and serve us and cook the food. For obvious reasons it did take a while to get our food. The food was very mediocre, although I did love my pie for only an extra dollar on the tab.

My 92 year old Mother wanted to dine here after having a wonderful lunch here a year ago. We decided to get out and enjoy the aspen on the way over Gore Pass. We drove 48 miles thinking we would have lunch here, again. I checked the website to be sure we could eat here. It said Open. Upon arriving here, there were 2 other vehicles. So, we got out of the car and read the sign on the door in disbelief! There was a woman inside behind the counter and when my Mom asked if the restaurant was open, she came at us like a Banshee, yelling Did you not read the sign? The sign said, they were only open for the hotel clients. So, why is the website not saying this?! Why not just take the restaurant off the website, because it’s not open for the public. I won’t drive 96 miles for nothing, ever again.

I e been eating at Penny's for years. Every time I go to South Routt county, I try to stop in and grab something to eat. Dig the old 50s style diner and the menu choices are all very good.

If you’re thinking of stopping in DON’T!! I did something as simple as asking for a menu in a restaurant and got snapped at by the old woman working who seemed way more interested in flirting with her co-worker than actually doing her job. Food was standard, nothing special. Tiny portion of fries served. We live in the valley and come in infrequently but Penny’s never fails to disappoint. Shakes made with ice vs ice cream, over fried burgers, surly and dirty staff.

Service sucked! Took an hour for our food to be ready and we weren’t even notified! Not only that but the lady REFUSED to make me the drink I ordered! If she’s not gonna do her job SHE SHOULDN’T BE WORKING HERE!!!Update! I ordered a salad tonight for dinner and instead I got a chicken sandwich! If you don’t know how to do your job honey don’t work here! PERIOD!!!

Ordered our drinks which we received in a timely manner. We sat and waited and waited for our order to be taken. 3 groups came in and were waited on before we were. I stopped our waitress to ask if she was ready to take our order but she cut me off and said your food should be ready anytime. Excuse me, you haven't taken our order. We were on a time limit due to work and list 30 minutes of our lunch break at this restaurant .

I normally don’t eat at diners because how bad or mediocre the food usually is. I decided to try this place and give diners a second chance. I ordered a chicken meal with mashed potatoes and it was fantastic!!! The chicken was cooked just right and was very flavorful. The meal overall was very delicious. I was not disappointed in the slightest. In fact I was very glad that I went and I would happily go back next time I am in Yampa!

This place is amazing. Not amazing like really good in any category, but amazing. Amazing that a 24 diner exists in the middle of nowhere. Amazing that this is a typical diner with booths, a counter, black and white checkered tile. The whole nine yards! The food is ok, but who goes to a 24 hour diner for the food? This place needs to be on your hit list. You'll love it!

Never ever will we stop here again. We stopped by on a not so busy Sunday morning and all we did was upset the waitress by sitting down at a table. She waited at least 10 minutes before coming over and cleaning the table, never asked us if we wanted anything to drink, proceeded to wait on others, take payments at the register and then start cleaning other tables as we are still waiting. So we got up walked passed her to leave and she shrugged her shoulders and laughed.Went to a awesome restaurant in Kremmling, got coffee within minutes of being seated, food was also delicious!!!

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time last night, for supper. Yampa is a very small, remote town with one general store, one motel, one diner, and one coffee shop, so we had low expectations for Penny's. It was surprisingly large, like a typical mom-n-pop diner of yesterday, clean, bright, plenty of parking, we welcomed as we arrived, and served within a couple minutes. They had a decent amount of breakfast and dinner choices on their colorful menu, and prices were rather expensive as you would expect in a small town with basically no other options. I had their main cheeseburger & fries and it was delicious, but quite small, and the fries were crispy and delish. They also offered a special get a piece of pie for $1 that we availed ourselves of!

CLOSED. This location is not open for service unless you are staying in the hotel. Bummer this wasn't posted somewhere as we drove here early before a hike hoping for a hot breakfast. We were turned away by a sign on the door with patrons inside. Not sure how they stay open for business 24hrs without serving travelers. Only thing open in the morning close by is a gas station. Don't stop in this town if driving through.

The food is OK, the service passable. What is absolutely ridiculous is the unreliable schedule. The place has been closed half of the times I have stopped by. The latest is due to some moronic contractual arrangement with Union Pacific? Really? Last word, Pennys inYampa is fired.

Actually did not eat here this trip through. Have it here in the past and it was okay. Off-season now so the 24-hour diner is not open 24 hours to the public but open to customers staying at the attached hotel. Attached hotel Wyndham has two electric car charging ports on site could be of use summon using electrical vehicle in a remote area.

This restaurant is a 50's themed classic diner. There are booths and a counter with stools. The menu is very limited, fried or deep fat fried are your choices. The quality varies depending on who is cooking at the time. They are set up a lot like a Waffle House, the cook is right there in front of the counter and you can watch the prep if you want.All the menu items are available all day, and they are open 24 hours. They have your basic breakfast items (pancakes, eggs, waffles...), several sandwiches and burgers/chicken items. There's a kids menu too. They also have deserts, shakes and sometimes a special of the day that isn't fried/deep fat fried.There are certainly worse places to go, but there are very few 24 hour a day restaurants in the Yampa Valley (including Steamboat Springs... not sure there are even any there), and there aren't many other places to eat close by at all.Prices are a little high, but they are everywhere up in the mountains.

Overpriced and the food isn't good at all. Coming from the east coast, I got spoiled with amazing food. Something that you will not find in this county. They have a lock on the area because there is nothing to eat for miles. Don't ask locals on their opinionOf what's good. 9 times out of 10, they have zero clue of what good food is.

Couldn't get service. Waited for 30 minutes and left after other customers were helped first. Very slow food quality appeared low and the coffee isn't very good. This place could be managed a LOT better.

I love this place most of the time it's open 24 hours a day in the middle of nowhere Yampa smallest town I've visited in a long time you can get some pretty tasty food in any time of the day and The staff is great great mannered polite and very fast service and clean um thank you guys love the food the what is it the western burger with the barbecue on your rings and hmm man Thank you guys I had to give you a review

I definitely recommend the breakfast burrito it is amazing! Very nice cook (we were in a rush and put us first) but they had a piece of paper for a ticket. But there are more options 10 miles away.....
