I recently picked up my Bee Packages that I had ordered from Wardle Feed and Pet Supply. I am Really Happy and impressed with the whole ordering and pickup process. It was a major rain storm all the way there. I figured that I was driving in that storm to a big mess! I have gone to other bee pickups in the past years at other places and they are always a chaotic disorganised scene. But this was so smooth and easy! They had a very efficient pick up set up. I barely had to get out of my truck. So Kudos to Wardle Feed and Pet Supply for having their act together and making that so smooth! It was very organized, quick, and easy. Not only that but they had the best price around which is why I came an hour away from Loveland for some in the first place. To top it off I didn’t have ANY dead bees in five packages, which in my book is unheard of. I have bought packages from various sources in the past and none have ever been as healthy as these appear to be. All five of my Queens also appeared healthy when I got them home.So Kudos to Wardle Feed and Pet Supply for doing such a great job!

I paid for 3 bales of straw for my garden and they tried to give me hay. The guy helping me didn't understand the difference or why I would care. Eventually was given a refund after some attitude from the man who rang me up. I went to Curve instead and they had noxious weed free straw in stock and were extremely helpful. I would avoid Wardle for straw.

Stopped by Wardle Feed and Pet Supply today and Steven answered some questions for me and gave fantastic customer service. I really like the Wild Delight Deck, Porch and Patio bird feed and am excited to try Excello Brand Wild Nut Frenzy Bird Food. They carry several brands and different items for both wild and domesticated birds. They also carry food for cats, chickens, dogs, and have bee making supplies as well as local honey.Wardle”s also carries a verity of dog food brands including Manna Pro, Diamond, Blue Wilderness, Taste of the Wild, Antler dog chews, and more. I like to support local whenever I can.

This is a solid business, I bought 5 chicks 3.5 months ago and they are all doing great. I bought a variety, 1 of which is an Easter egger. Recently this bird has been crowing, and im starting to suspect she may be a rooster. Do you have any recommendations on how to handle this?

I grew up in Wheat Ridge and Wardle animal feed store and recycling center has always been a pillar of the community. My family would buy feed from them when I was a child with a city farm. We have purchased honey bee supplies and and we have taken electronics and metal recycling to them. Really nice folks. Such a warm farm feeling. I wish they hosted a pie eating contest as a fund raiser for some animal foundation. Now that would be fun! We LOVE you guys!

I have been going here for more then 10 years, no problems. I have bought many chick's over the years, never any illness, once I learned how fragile chick's can be and how careful you must be to prevent illness. It is crazy to read the reviews though because everyone who gives a bad review for a chicken who died wants to blame Wardle's. Wardle's can not control what you do with your chickens once you leave their store. Chick's die very easily, they are not hardy like a puppy or kitten. The only one to blame for your chicken passing is your self.

It’s a good location for feed, but today we endured a racist experience, where we were charged extra for a bag of chicken feed when I normally get that’s same feed for less. They also neglected helping us, we stood there waiting for them to come help us, and all we got was dirty looks from two of the male workers there.

Years later we still are suffering the devastation of having gotten chicks 5 years ago from them and had been infected with Marek’s disease. They do not offer vaccinated chicks, and don’t even like to discuss the whole thing with customers! Won’t say who their hatcheries are…I lost my entire flock and replacement chickens several times over, it was so bad… so I felt obligated to other backyard poultry owners, and I reported them to CO state ag in Fort Collins to keep an eye on them for aiding in the spreading of this most painful, untreatable, and horrible disease. Be sure you don’t ever get Marek’s , its a terribly painful nerve disease, causing paralysis, and or can cause horrible lymphoid (internal organs riddled with copious cancer (etc) as well as many other various presentations that all lead to pain for chickens and DEATH in the end. For the owner, it is emotionally trying, and painful to have this happen, losing pets, watching them suffer, or culling your flock, as well as very costly for replacement flocks who got it too from our enviroment, (Good luck getting it out of your enviroment) and costly vet visits etc. Watching them lose quality of life and die is just Heartbreaking. Also Wardle’s never responded to my complaints. I hope they have fixed the issues here but doubt it. No way to prove it is clean now, several years later! I would not take the chance, it is so risky and transmittable, and LETHAL. So, based on all this I must say, that I can’t recommend. Find hatcheries that offer vaccinations for Marek’s and prevent it from getting in your environment in the first place is the best and actually only trusty way to deal with this!! (Review left on their website today) I can’t believe they are clean, they are not certified, so please take them OFF your recommended as "Best in Colorado list" this is very decieving to buyers who trust the site. They do not seem to care to be certified from their attitude. However another note: They are not a hatchery, they are a middle man from many hatcheries, that is why I was upset they wouldn’t tell me their sources, so the Mareks could be narrowed down to what hatcheries could be infected and notified to check. THEY DID NOT CARE.

I purchased supplies for years with great service. Decided to get some pullets from them and one of the birds started showing symptoms of mycoplasma within the first week. I reached out to them via email and received no response. That hen passed and now it seems the rest of my flock are carriers and do not lay eggs because of it. AVOID.

After reading some of the reviews off here, and been to the store in person. I highly frown apon some of the negative reviews from uneducated people. In other words take most of thies one stares with a grain of salt.My experience with eardle has been ecstatic. I drove 3 hours from nebraska to pick up a bee box on the pick up date. Sadly there was some miss communication and I was not informed of the date change witch happends with new customers. What surprised me is how every employees did what they could to make it possable to get the bee box on that day. They all showed perfect customer service, where exstreamly friendly and helpful. Ended up getting my box same day just not in expected time frame. This company went above and beyond to make that happen, and for that experience I will be coming back for a long time.

Good prices and good service! I enjoyed being able to wander their animal pens and see all the livestock they have available, it was really fun for the kids! We got 2 leghorn chicks in the summer from here and they are doing quite well, fully grown and healthy and pretty! They have a ton of supplies here and we always enjoy coming to the store!

Come here for all my chicken supplies. Was saddened to see no employees wearing masks. When asked, one worker said “well my boss doesn’t really believe in it”Won’t be coming back to this place

We bought a house and inherited four chickens with the purchase! Wardle has provided us with excellent service and products each and every time we’ve went in. They are more than willing to answer any and all questions you have in order to take care of your animals. Their prices are absolutely comparable to any other place and you get to support a local business as well!

Staff extremely helpful and friendly and willing to work with you! We were able to get 5 chicks to add to our flock when everywhere else was sold out already. I also like the mom and pop shop atmosphere. And their products are a good price.

Always friendly and helpful. We bought our chicks there last spring, they are laying well and all 8 were female. They also sold and delivered a second hand coop. The driver was very helpful and didn't bat an eye at our asking to lift it up over our short fence and across our yard. In a time when even feed stores have gone big box it is nice to have a place that carrys your feed to your car!

The staff is always helpful and quick to check you out. They carry everything to your car. Purchased 4 pullets last year and they were in excellent condition and have been great egg layers for us. If I need anything for the hens I head off to Wardle Feed. Thank you for your help

Excellence services. We got 30 chicks from them last spring n all of them are doing great. We are getting plenty of eggs from them as well. Whenever something isn't right with one of my hen. I would stop by n ask for help n they give me great advices. I would recommend to pay them a visit to see all the chicks they have right now. I'm very happy to live so close to Wardle. Thanks again for all your help n your knowledge. Keep up the good work.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff bring big bags of feed right to your car so you don't have to lug it. Their birds are healthy and well cared for. Their prices are decent and it's just amazing to get such good service in the middle of town.

Update 9/20/16:The store management is taking our issue much more seriously than the employees we dealt with. The breeder & their vet visited us today at our house to see our flock. To their credit, they're providing medicine and trying to make this right. While this whole thing has been frustrating, I appreciate the effort and am bumping up my review to 3 stars while we work on this.Original post:DO NOT BUY BIRDS HERE. We purchased two pullets to expand our backyard flock. It should have been a warning sign when the salesperson didn't know the breeds of the birds. After we got the pullets home we noticed one was sneezing. The store did refund our purchase but dismissed the bird's illness as "allergies" to my wife. It was not allergies- the rest of the chickens in my flock are all now sick, they've all stopped laying and have nasal discharge. I'm hoping I can save them with antibiotics, but may have to cull them.I'm incredibly disappointed in the lack of seriousness with which the staff treated this issue. These people should not be selling birds.

I bought 14 pullets of different varieties this spring. I was glad that they all grew into healthy egg laying hens. I have been raising chickens sense I grew up in Arvada. I have bought from different places in Colorado, mail ordered, and hatched our own. Going to Wardle is the way I will go in the future.I also love the feed selection. I make my own feed to supplement pellets. Sense I started doing this my egg production doubled. It's a mix of grains from whole corn to fatty seeds. The selection is amazing! The staff is always willing to help find what I need, and throw the many bags of feed in my truck!! Support your local feed store!

I can’t say enough about the staff at Wardle! They’ve been so helpful and friendly every time I’ve been there. I bought their brooder kit and 6 chicks of all different species and they are thriving. They made my first experience raising chickens a great one.

Don't be fooled by the pretty picture of their brooder on their website or the highly questionable 3.9 star rating. The place is dirty and on more than one occasion there have been dead birds in the pens when I was looking for chicks. We are experienced bird people and have never lost a bird from another store. We have lost 50% of the birds we purchased from this place. When confronted with the fact that they may have a disease problem, they take no responsibility and do not care that they are sending people home with sick birds. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If 0 stars were an option, that is what i would choose.

I Love this store!!!! It is the only place to go for hens & chicks! The people are the best ever in the world. So kind & friendly, even the ladies are super strong&healthy . I am Glade I can go to a place that feels great to be there, & get such great deals on everything. Being a single mom , I am glade I can go to place I can afford & get smart good advice about so many animals & more. I am glade the owner is smart & knows about the largest social experiment in the world, sadly so many are weak minded and brain washed by the media, like this poor lady's comment, below mine.. It's a pathetic world when people are so easy to control with false media that is paid by authorities to brain wash them. With fear & IGNORANCE, The surgeon general said , please people, stop buying masks, it does not prevent anything, QUOTE YOUR U.S. SURGEON GOVERNMENT GENERAL.

Been coming here for years. Sometimes the birds are a bit sickly. Be sure to only buy The chicks that are active and alert, not sleepy and dopey. The selection of organic and gmo free grain has grown significantly, but service is not what it used to be. I'm still glad this place is still around in the heart of wheat ridge.
