Buyer beware! Let me put this into perspective. I have black hair and dark skin. During my purchase at Wet Mountain Treasures 207 Main Street Westcliffe, CO 81252 store, I handed my credit card to the cashier. When I was about to sign the receipt, I glanced at my credit card. The woman said to me, (quote) " Are you looking for the name of the card you stole?". I was so shocked, I just took my ID and placed it on the counter in front of her. If she needs to verify my identity all she has to do is ask for an ID! I have travelled the world and that is the standard. Neither to say, she insulted me, accused me of stealing, disrespected me. Am I not capable of having a credit card because I don't look like her with white skin? Today I am so LIVID with myself, for not responding as I should have. I should have placed all my credit cards on her counter and cancelled the purchase! Lady cashier, remember that people like me are who keep you in business not locals. Keep your racist comments in the trash! I just want you to know lady that you tainted the beautiful impression I had of the Colorado people. Racist people like you, do no good to my local friends from Colorado.

Usually my experience here is pleasant filled with great conversation & typically very welcoming. Didn’t get that experience today, sadly. I always look forward to coming into this shop when we come visit Westcliffe. Probably my last.

If your looking for the height of a Colorado Mountain experience, go to Westcliffe, CO. The most beautiful mountain range of the Sangres De Christos' but a great gift shop full of genuine colorado treasures! Patty & Mike are the real deal!
