They will shut your water off without notification! The property managers Meaghan and Jared are only worried about making a buck. They are not worried about you or your family.! April can only come soon enough for their departure of the campground would be the best! All of us here can only hope and pray’ For normality once again, much less have this campground, cleaned and not blamed on others, because the property managers do not feel like doing anything ! Not only that when their dogs bite you, they will blame. It’s lucky you and the kids.!

Black Bear is a really cool concept. I believe there are still areas for improvement. I love the bathroom/ shower. It's really nice but maybe just one more would be good. Also, I think they're working on it but there really isn't an office just the managers in site #1. Checking in was very confusing because there's no office and I want aware initially the managers are in site #1. The managers are super nice. Other reviews said there was a little store on site but it has bed closed. It's very quiet at Black Bear and lots of swings and such throughout the park. Great for strolling through the ground or sitting on a bench or setting enjoying nature. We really enjoyed our stay!

My family and I had so much fun on our visit to Colorado! Our visit at Black Bear exceeded our expectations by far. Firstly Pam is an amazing owner and made sure our entire stay was comfortable and gave us ideas of places to take our kids to have fun. The rooms are so cute and had everything we needed. It is minutes from town and there are little general stores and restaurants close by. We absolutely love the sitting areas to enjoy the peaceful environment found myself just staring at the beautiful mountains and tranquility. We will absolutely be back again and only stay here. Our kids didn’t want to leave!

I absolutely loved staying here! I had the pleasure of staying at Black Bear for a week, and plan to stay longer the next time I visit! Black Bear is a wonderful way to connect with and get back to nature. As soon as you step foot outside your cabin, you have an incredible view of the mountains. I was amazed because no matter where you stood in the RV park, you were just surrounded by mountains. Walking around Black Bear in the evenings watching the sunset was so relaxing. Black Bear also has a dog park so your best friend can experience Colorado with you! The owner of Black Bear has put so much love and hard work into restoring and beautifying everything. It’s evident all around the park and with all of the amenities available. The shower/bathroom is AMAZING and one of the nicest I’ve had the pleasure of using. It smelled super clean and was SO spacious! I would highly HIGHLY recommend staying here. Not only is staying here amazing, but the location is as well. Black Bear is right off Highway 50, and there are so many trails/hiking areas right down the road. The Arkansas river even runs on the other side of the highway. A week wasn’t long enough to be able to be able to see all of the beauty surround Black Bear. I can’t wait for my next stay!!!

I stayed at Black Bear while attending FibArk for the first time this past weekend, and we really enjoyed our stay! My lodge room was cozy, quaint and we were quite comfortable there! The guys running the place are very friendly and hospitable. And we got to enjoy the sun setting behind the mountains in the evenings. Oh, there is cell service here too!

Absolutely love this place. Pamela has created a real gem here. Her hard work and love show up everywhere. The cabins are clean and cozy and the grounds are just lovely, especially at night. There's such a reverence for the land and natural beauty, with gardens and bench swings everywhere to encourage you to pause and take it all in. Pamela is such a gracious and thoughtful host and has paid careful attention to creating a safe and welcoming place for women travelers. It's places like the Black Bear that you go for an actual experience.

Recently stayed at Black Bear for 3 nights in one of the Lodge Rooms. Cozy with all the essentials you needed. The new management is working hard on this property and I am so excited to see how they transform it!We went to the Mt Princeton Hot Springs, the Royal Gorge, and Bishops Castle while we were there. All are short drives away! The area is absolutely gorgeous. We will definitely be back!

Loved it! It is a beautifully remodeled, quaint little motel. The RV park portion was so nice too! Everyone was so friendly AND it’s pet friendly! The views, the meditation circle, instant calm! I like to support women owned business and the owner, a true Texan, literally built a fence by herself while we we’re staying there for 2 weeks. Her rooms are so beautiful! She is redecorating it all, by herself!!! Plus doing her own landscaping! The dog run was the best and she has the sweetest little dog named Bear and I’m just going to call him her mascot because he’s always there to great you and offer his belly up for you to rub. I know I’m leaving a lot out, so I’ll close by suggesting that you check it out if your in the Salida Buena Vista area! Thank you for an awesome stay! Oh! It has has a super nice little park for the kids! Pam your amazing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It was horrible, When got there, it was dingy & dirty! Pulled the cover back& there were crumbs, someone else’s hair on the sheets, so the sheets were never changed. The toilet space is so small that you couldn’t even move to wipe!! The shower curtain was black with mold. Floors were dirty needed sweep. The owner is very hard to work with! Very unhappy customer!!!

Clean, rustic, beautiful location. I stayed in a campsite the first night with my two small children. I experienced a little challenge when setting up my tent and Pamela, the owner, made sure that I got help! The second night I stayed at the hotel and it had all of the essentials: big coffee pot, organic teas, tv, WiFi, comfortable beds, and nice shampoo/conditioner.If you want to be a recluse, that’s fine. Or, if you want company, just walk around and make fast friends. I’ll remember this place fondly.

The motel has it's charm, things about I first did not understand was made clear to me while talking with Pam the owner of both the motel and RV park. It's not huge nor does it have the feel of a run of the mill type corporate motel or RV park. The motel is outside of Silada about 10 miles to the east and gives the warmth of an old fashion country inn. Which is missing these days. The area has some really beautiful scenery with cozy rooms to boot. Pam took over the area in 2018(?) sorry can't remember now, and had put a lot of effort into both the motel and RV park. Walking around the park I noticed an area for tents as well although people were camping there I dared not to see what was there for the folks.Right now I'm making plans to visit again next year to see the new work Pam is going to put into the motel and I hope she has her dreams fulfilled with the remodeling job that is to be done this coming winter when everyone is snowed in place.

So they put us in there preferred site which was tiny, when I put my stairs out there was a dirt mound directly in front of stairs, the play ground that was advertised was removed, the sewer didn't drain so when I opened my black and grey tanks it just sat in my sewage hoses, I had to get an employee to drain my hoses, which ended up on my RV, my electrical cord and all over the site, he also had nothing good to say about his employer, and at less 90% of the Black bear park was residents, obviously there were no rules on up keeping of your sites. I wouldn't recommend staying here ever.

I’ve really enjoyed my stay at Black bear RV Park. It’s directly across highway 50 from the Arkansas River, and in a small pocket of cell phone reception in the valley. The motel rooms are nice and cozy. The store is stocked with all kinds of snacks and sodas. The WiFi works well for streaming. There is a nice nature trail on one side of the rv park, a big ravine on the other side, a dog park & mule deer make there way through the rv park almost every day on their way to the river. Easy access to hiking, bike, atv trails & the river. Plus you can see the stars at night!

Really beautiful location not far from Salida. The owner of the park does an amazing job keeping the sites functional and also beautiful. She's added little touches around the whole campground including bird feeders and a walking path. It's lovely.

My stay there was amazing. They are pet and family friendly. Everyone I came in contact with was super helpful. The views were stunning. This place makes you feel at home. The owners are doing a fantastic job. You always see Pamela working hard to make the place better. If there is an issue she is right on top of it. If you are looking for a relaxed place this is it. Black Bear RV it helps you break away from normal life. RV spots have full hookups 50amp and 30 amp, sewage, water and wifi. The wifi is spotty but this allows you to truly connect with your family. There is a river and BML land across the street which is an adventurer's dream. I will definitely be back and cannot wait to see the improvements that will be done. Good job Pamela

Absolutely loved it , we stayed in the hotel several months during the winter and then in our rv for a bit before heading out. We had a blast! Recommend it to anyone who is easy going and looking to get away. We will be going next time we travel through. Pet friendly if you have friendly pets.

Absolutely beautiful and very accommodating! Pamela had communicated with us multiple times prior to arrival to make sure everything was handled smoothly. She let us pick our site. She has done an amazing job of building an RV park by hand herself. She made sure to let us know about heated water hoses and what accommodations they would provide. We were grateful the weather for Christmas was in the 60s so we never had any freezing issues. View from inside our camper window.

We stayed here a couple years ago, and while it was a great location, the new owners have totally updated the rooms which makes for a huge improvement. New paint, new linens, comfortable beds and pillows. Very clean and loved the remote check-in process. I received a code via email but the hosts were there to say hi and welcome us when we arrived. We have family in Howard and Salida so ... We will be back for sure!! Thanks!!

Arrived late 11pm or so in a 35' RV even though full let us stay the night to get off the road! Gave us some water to flush toilet due to holding tank empty. Very accommodating thank you so much!

Unfortunately, the hype associate to this location via the website is obscured. The new manager or owner Pamela Scrivner is an unprofessional Texan that doesnt know the first thing about hospitality and more importantly customer service. The tent locations are mediocre at best and there no organization in terms of what a campsite should be. More applauding is that the owner underestimated her customer base and used the phase "are you from the city" during a simple discussion on the poor campsite location. Oh, btw this is after they booked the wrong date and attempted to charge for an rv spot. Pamela, didn't take accountability for the debacle of misbooking and overcharging. Actually, Pamela I'm not from the city, I am from Colorado where people have manners. I will be disputing my payment over your dilapidated rv park through my bank. Keep the same energy and your business will go far!

We got here today trash on our campground we hardly can put a stairs down a hill is right next us no room to put anything out .not Big rigg friendly at all 80% of the place taken up by residents so leaves you with no room at all . No fire ring no table no play ground for kids . We had to pull our rig up so far so we can use our popout so now we need more sewage hose.

Nice enough owner… but a dirty room . We had to leave a day early because of a big Colorado snowstorm coming in and she would not refund us that night which the Airbnb site states it is up to the owner and she would not refund it ! We’re not going back!

We broke down with our camper and pulled into Black Bear when they didn't have any sites available. They let us park out front and even let us connect to electric for us to stay the night figuring out our situation. Very nice people and in a pretty area.
