The rooms here are something I've never seen before. I don't mean that in a good way. They claim to have a kitchen and living room. Essentially what they did was combine two conjoined rooms together and turned the bathroom of one into a kitchen. You can still see where the toilet wax seal used to be as the hole was not completely covered. There's no A/C and they give you a complimentary fan, except ours didn't even work. It's very dated half-heartly done. For the price you are better off paying a little extra to stay at a different hotel in town. They also don't offer any kind of military discount or discount in general stating that "They are already the cheapest hotel in town." at $120/night. Definitely not worth it.

This hotel charges $90 +++ but does not deliver. The walls are paper thin (I could hear conversations and footsteps on 3 sides), the electric plugs were all so loose I could not charge any of my stuff, but the worst was the internet wouldnt connect. When I called and complained the best solution I got was an offer to use the internet in the lobby. Definetly would not recommend this 1970's roadside nightmare.

The owner, manager, and the rest of the team care about you and your experience. They keep the rooms very clean. They also have some grills to cook on. It is Not a 5 star hotel but a great deal for the price... Especially the 5 bedroom suite for $200.00 a night. Best deal I have ever seen for a room I highly recommend it.

This is a cute well-run hotel; I really enjoyed my stay! The room was very comfortable, and it was quite there as well. My shower had lots of pressure which you don’t see (feel) anymore. The rooms have coffee makers and little refrigerators for your needs. The owner Lynn came out and made my whole group feel like family. Thank you, Lynn and staff, for making our say as wonderful as it could possibly be.

Very clean & cozy rooms. Atmosphere was spectacular with a quiet small town and views of the lakes & mountain tops along the horizon. The owner "Lynn" welcomes all with open arms & makes you feel right at home. The staff does a great job & then some. They all treat you like family. Once you visit, you'll never want to leave!

Clean room cute but hard bed. Staff nice but false advertisement. No hot tub. No coffee made in the lounge just empty pots. If u want toast or pastry for the free continental breakfast u have to ask for it. But u have to find the staff first. Not impressed but I did have a warm clean bed to sleep in. Again staff very nice.

Probably the cleanest room I've ever seen. The sheets were crisp and even the bedspread was newly laundered. A nice, quiet, and comfortable place to stay for less money that I would have expected.

Hunters, Fisherman, Seniors, and Veterans beware of the rip off. Got charged for 4 nights, stayed 2 nights. Harvested game on day one, can't stay for 4 days, gotta get processed. Willing to pay a cancelation fee, but paying for 2 additional full nights, is not fair. Bamboozled. What happend to common decency?

Well, I checked in and the owner immediately informed me that I was not supposed to smoke anything in the room. What was she implying? No a/c in the room, toilet doesn’t flush right. To top it off, I went to get breakfast and can back and my room was being cleaned. It wasn’t even 0900 am. I would have liked to clean up a bit before my day, but that isn’t going to happen. Would not recommend this place.

Made reservations with this hotel 3 weeks ago for the Lake John ice fishing contest. Was informed 2 weeks before event to tell me that they overbooked and they said so sorry you must stay somewhere else. Was left a message with details. When calling them back was recieved with rude and unaccomadating results. They dont give a f is what they said. Please dont waste your time to find out your left out in the cold. I would Never recommend this to anyone. The previous owners were what made the Chedsey special. Unfortunately it is no longer there. Beware ..........making reservations should be hotel 101.

Needed a cheap place for the night and the rooms were nice and clean. They had a home feel to them. So far this was the nicest motel we have stayed at on our trip. It's a nice small town to stay in with a bowling ally down the road.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the place to stay.We checked in, and it couldn't have been easier. Lynn was very kind answered all of our questions about the town and then some. Very pleasant, very down to earth. There was some concern about lack of Air Conditioning. I was assured that at 8000 feet, keeping cool would rarely(if ever) be a problem. She was right; so, so right. We got to our room, and it was not only clean, but comfortable, and indeed had a small town/ranch home feel to it. It was a good temperature, but I sleep in the cold. After a half hour with windows cracked a little bit, even I was even a bit chilly. The room we stayed in had two queens. They were log framed beds, and the easily most comfortable hotel bed I've ever stayed in. Likely more comfortable than my own.The bathroom was good sized. Not amazingly huge, but very, very ample, and no feeling of being cramped. This, too, was very clean, and there was no smoke, pet, or "bathroomie" smell. There is an outdoor hot tub that, as any good owner knows, you NEVER TURN OFF. Once it turns off, the pipes can freeze. Frozen pipes could lead to bursts and broken seals. You could easily spend more than the cost of a new hot tub just locating the leaks, let alone fixing them. The hot tub was very clean; no dirt or debris I could see at the bottom. There was only a very very faint chlorine smell, which is comforting.Location; well it IS a small town. Gas station next door, two restaurants across the street with an angler shop in between. The view wasn't great out the back window, as there's an old barn or something there, but the front view you could see over the shops to an amazing sky.Walking around town made me feel safe and welcome. Friendly townsfolk everywhere. I watched two kids about ten riding up and down main street... no worry for their safety, no cringing parents demanding they come home lest they get kidnapped; no overbearing grandparents calling child protective services either.I'll be returning to this town. And I'll be staying at this hotel every chance I get. Hopefully, someday, I'll find some skills that translate better to a small town, so I can move there.Thank you, Lynn, for this wonderful little town to stay at!

Clean, tidy, old-school lodging with just enough space and amenities. Plenty of outlets for charging phones, plugging in tea pot, and hair dryer. Staff was very helpful with our small needs (corkscrew and flatter pillow). Booking was incredibly easy - book early if you're staying here for the Derby! Wish we'd have taken advantage of the doors that connect rooms and had our parents in the next room (we'll be sure and do that next time). Little fridge and microwave a nice touch, plenty of channels to watch on the new flat screen. Easy walking distance to any attraction in town with a gas station/convenience store right next door.

Nice landing spot in Walden. The staff couldn't be more accommodating! Rooms are clean and spacious. The motel is located a couple blocks from delicious eateries that are highly recommended. My only concern - noisey stair climbers. The entire Walden experience is wonderful - try it!

Worst customer service in the world. We will never stay here again. The girl with the bright red hair and looks like she may be on drugs treated us like we where an inconvenience to her the whole week we where there. She will go out of her way to make you uncomfortable. The owner Lynn is a sweat heart but must not realize her help is chasing away customers. We asked for another set of towels for the hot tub and I thought she was going to have a heart attack because she had to walk five feet.. poor thing. I wish my job was that easy... never again. We came up there to hunt, there was never coffee made, there's never people in the office, and just hope you don't need anything or you will meet Satan herself.

This place is gross. No A/C. No water pressure. Towels are stained and stink. Stairs feel as if they're about to collapse. I do not recommend.

The managers/owners are amazingly friendly and welcoming. Good, clean rooms for a very large w price. Definitely on my list to stay at again.

Very clean, good attention to detail, and helpful staff! My only complaint is that in rooms that have a door to connect two rooms, you might hear your neighbor's TV. Otherwise, a very pleasant place to stay!

Tammy was AMAZING!! She went above and beyond on multiple occasions during my 4-night stay, to make sure that my trip went as smoothly as possible. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I'm not sure how the process matches up to other options in the area, but I would pay a lot extra just to stay here based purely on the best customer service I've ever recieved.

Room was clean. But do not leave anything out. The do not disturb sign means nothing. Day of check out they stripped the rooms hours before check out time. I came back in to find all of my things on the floor electronics tossed around. I come through town every year I will not be staying there again.

Family run business with nice, clean and niche decor in the rooms. Don't expect mainstream hotel amenities here however you don't have to be big in order to keep your customers happy and the folks at chedsey motel certainly keep their guest requirements in check.

We were stranded in Walden thanks to the blizzard. Lucky for us they had affordable rooms, excellent service, the lady at the front desk was so friendly and helpful and the room was great!

STAY HERE! We have been coming from Elkhorn, Ne for the last ten years to walden many times every winter. Everytime we come we stay at the Chedsey. Last weekend we were there and one of our snowmobiles broke. We couldnt find the part to fix it cause the NAPA in town was closed for the weekend. We asked Lynn the owner if she knew anywhere we could find the part and she went out of her way to call her friend and get one for us! Life Saver!
