Crazy how these things happen. I wandered into this place just out of curiosity. The young man behind the counter (really nice young guy) asked me if I want to go into the museum. I'll be honest, I was not so excited at first since it kind of looks small from where you enter the building, but I was wrong.First floor is really interesting. All about the gold mining that went on there. The second floor has some amazing artifacts and rooms which are set up the way they would have been back in the day.Pretty amazing place really. Impressive collection and well worth the stop.

I have been coming to colorado to my family's house since I was born and I have never experienced anything as awesome as this tour! Our tour guide was great and the mine was unbelievable. Great views and you get up close and personal with the mine and its process. The giant trucks were my favorite part! I literally felt like I was in a Transformers movie all day. Worth the money and the drive. We will be doing this every summer now!

Neat place, happened to get there behind 2 bus loads of Middle Schoolers from St Louis, so that took away from the experience.

This was a wonderful tour! Rob, our guide/driver, was very well informed about mining operations & seemed to love what he does--educating visitors about gold mining. We covered a large physical area in our tour & even witnessed a "shot"(an explosion) from a safe vantage point. We saw one of the extremely large mining trucks(out of service) up close & personal & were able to climb up into it if we wished. This tour was a great value too. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend this tour.

We absolutely loved the tour of the mine. It was very informative and interesting! Bob, our guide, was very good!! One suggestion: You might want to advise people that there are no opportunities for a restroom break during the 2 hour tour and you may want to go before the tour.

I've driven by this gold mine for many years during visits to Victor and Cripple Creek but not until this tour did I realize the complexity and size of the operation of the open pit mine. Rob was a great tour guide, giving us a good mix of history, science, operation and technology. Who knew it worked like a bowl of Frosted Flakes?! I highly recommend this tour any time you're in the area!

We spent little time in the actual museum because we took the Gold Mine Tour. The 2hr tour was the best $8.50 each we spent in our 10 days in CO. The guide was super informative about the local area and the mine operations. As a bonus, the views from atop the mining ore piles at 10,600+ ft were phenomenal! If you're in the area and have a couple hours, definitely plan on this. Book ahead online as each group is limited to 13.

Staffed by knowledgeable locals who know the history of the area. Between the City-hall and the Museum; I was able to find specific history on my properties. A lot of great information and equipment displays, but; falls well short of "Big-city" Museums. They also don't charge $35 to learn something about our History!

Learned a lot about how gold mines work. Kids had a good time. Didn't get as deep into the nuts and bolts of the operation as I would like, but was still a good time and well worth the money. Had I known we would have planned to spend more time in the town of Victor and Cripple. Many fun things to see and do and eat while in town.

This place is awesome! It’s sad that a previous reviewer like Twinkle left a one star review because of their ineptitude.

This was definitely the highlight of our weekend in Teller County. The tour was fascinating and we got to see some amazing views from the top of the mountain. Rodney was our tour guide, and he was excellent. I would go again if we are ever back in Teller County.

Good place to visit for historical purposes. This Museum provides informative information concerning the life of Lowell Thomas. One needs to place themselves in his shoes has he traveled all over the world many years ago.

I want to say first off my grand kids had a great time. That makes me very happy. But my experience was clouded with a clerk who kept trying to take my 6 year old grandson’s panning pan away because I was helping him hold the pan so he could dig around in the sand and pretend he was finding his treasure. The clerk actually took my pan at one point because my other grandson who is 7, got cold and stopped panning so he could warm up. I took the pan back and told the clerk I paid for the pan for one hour and I was keeping it until my time was up. She finally left us alone and let my kids have their fun. We probably wont be back. I’m not saying dont go have fun, just know you will not be able to help your small children with their pans without the rude clerk trying to make you buy another pan.

This whole town is beautiful this museum really captured the soul of the era this town was booming. It was cool to see how someone lived back then and what a dr office looked like. Highly recommend this stop.

Really pushy salespeople. Went in because that was the only place around to do gold panning. When we asked the price we were told $5, when I sent my 14 year old in to buy a pan they changed the price! We overpaid by a lot just to appease my child but their price varies depending on what you're wearing and your pocketbook apparently. Would have liked to have the $5 deal everybody else had maybe I should have dressed cheaper for the day so our price didn't change in the middle of their breath.
