Devil's Thumb Ranch is my favorite winter getaway destination. The cross-country skiing is world-class amazing. The hotel is the epitome of rustic chic comfort, and even for being so chic, it is still cozy and comfortable and intimate. The food is incredible. The spa is my favorite one I've ever been to. I plan to be a Devil's Thumb guest for life!

Our stay at Devil’s Thumb was beyond exceptional. Immediately upon entering our room we felt the warmth and coziness of the lodge and settled right in. The steam room, pool and sauna were exactly what we needed after a day of skiing and the views from the hot tub are unmatched! The spa was a definite highlight of the trip - Dylan made sure our experience was absolutely seamless even after we had to shuffle some appointments around. I personally can’t stop thinking about my facial from Megan - I was totally zenned out the entire time and felt bright and energized afterwords. She also gave a phenomenal arm and scalp massage - I highly recommend requesting Megan for your treatments! One of our absolute favorite aspects of our stay was our morning yoga classes with Erika. She was a gentle, knowledgeable, and intuitive guide, offering plenty of options for all levels. She made the space feel safe and welcoming and gave us a wonderful start to each morning. We especially resonated with the different meditations she chose throughout the weekend.Overall a fabulous stay thanks to the gorgeous accommodations and wonderful staff! I highly recommend Devil’s Thumb for anyone needing some rejuvenation.

Our two-night stay at Devil's Thumb Ranch in mid-December was absolutely fantastic! The variety of food outlets provided us with delicious dining options throughout our stay, and we were thoroughly impressed by the amazing amenities offered. One of our favorite highlights was relaxing in the hot tub, surrounded by the stunning winter scenery. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel truly pampered and cared for. Overall, our experience at Devil's Thumb Ranch was nothing short of exceptional, and we can't wait to return!

I’ve skied here for several years now. If I could I’d rate in more then 5 stars. I fell in love with this place on my first visit. The ski trails are excellent. The views are beautiful with the mountains on the Continental Divide just to the east. Plus more beautiful views to the west once you get up higher on their trails. Everyone in the Nordic Center are great. If you need anything get with Marie-Ange or anyone else who works there. They hold some great races too. Show up and give this place a try. You may not want to leave.

Had the pleasure of ringing in the new year at Devils Thumb Ranch a few months ago and couldn’t recommend the property more. The property has plenty to offer and was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. We had a beautiful day of snow shoeing followed by a sunset bonfire and dinner at the steakhouse. The rooms were cozy, the staff was friendly and the food was incredible. Loved our stay!

My family and I recently stayed at Devil's Thumb for a long weekend, and found it a nice and peaceful retreat separate from the resort where we typically stay. My friend and I went backcountry skiing, an activity they just launched this year, and found it to be a great time - Marie-Ange and a couple guides took us up on snowmobiles on scenic trails with views of Winter Park resort and horses alongside, and treated us to hot chocolate and lunch in a cozy yurt, in between ~600 vertical feet of perfectly powdered trails after receiving good snowfall a few days prior. The experience was great, especially as it is so new, and it was a fun way to experience true powder runs without competing with the resort crowd. They are apparently opening new trails and doubling vertical in the future, which I think would be a nice improvement.

We got engaged during our stay and the DTR team really made the experience extra lovely. They were so thoughtful and detailed, ensuring we had a wonderful time. We had a small mix up at the spa and Victoria, Kimberly, and Dylan handled it like pros - going above and beyond to find a speedy resolution that well exceeded our expectations. Manny was very generous and assisted us with a late check out so we had an opportunity to enjoy the amenities a bit longer. Absolutely adore DTR and their team, can't wait to return!

We stopped in at the Devils thumb ranch resort to rent some bikes and spend some time on the trails. This was the first time renting snow bikes, or fat tire bikes. It was awesome and we highly recommend the bikes. I realized that I am out of shape after the four hours on the trail…stay away from the cross country and the shoulder of the trail. If you get lost, talk to the staff and they will take care of you. All around great service.

We spent 3 nights at Devil's Thumb Ranch over spring break with our three sons (ages 3, 4, & 6) and have a fabulous time. All of the staff and fellow guests were very hospitable and created a wonderful atmosphere. We felt spoiled by the staff, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Our accommodations were perfect. We had a room with a luxurious bathroom, king bed, and pullout couch. We wore the robes to the pool and the staff replenished anything we needed upon our request.Winter Park ski resort was a short drive and we skied all 3 days. Outside of skiing we spent our entire stay on the property. We did free yoga each morning. For breakfast, we visited the coffee shop, which was delicious and very reasonably priced. We spent lots of time in the pool, went tubing, enjoyed s'mores by the fire, watched movies in the theatre, visited the stables, and played in the game room and library. For dinner, we ate at Heck's and the Ranch House. There was live music each night and the food and service were fantastic. We're planning to visit in the summer with the entire family to experience the ranch in another season :)

We were celebrating our anniversary and most service personnel seemed to know it and made us feel we were a priority. We visited on 1/1/24 and 1/2/24 and found an abbreviated staff presence making service slower than what we expected. Room was fantastic and found the accommodations peaceful and quiet in spite of the number of children present. Heck's food was great.Rooms: Rustic, ranchy, elegance. Very Comfortable!

Restaurant was average at best. Heard it had Mich Star ….. hard to believe. X-country skiing was good. Good equip rental and well maintained trails. Wouldn’t let us use bar …. some Covid thing …. which is now over.

Unfortunately our experience at Devils Thumb was not a well rounded experience. At least one you would expect from a place billing themselves as a luxury resort. We stayed 2 nights in February and were met with great service and did enjoy our stay. Hours after check-out we contacted Devils Thumb to report that we left my wife's purse in the room and they had her fill out a lost and found report, which implied they had a detailed procedure for locating and securing valuables. Unfortunately this appears not to be the case. After several follows up within 2 weeks to the resort to inquire if they found anything, they kept reporting nothing had been found. Then out of nowhere 6 weeks later it was "located" with zero details on who found it and where. A significant amount of cash was missing along with gift cards. More appalling was the lack of concern or care by Devil's Thumb staff of this situation. After several un-returned messages, the GM and other management appear to "be on vacation" and the head of housekeeping, Skylar, was defensive and unhelpful to the point of rude. Beware of valuables at this resort. From other reviews it seems that this resort has been in recent major decline, so I'm not sure what happened to this place that has previously had a great reputation.

If I could move anywhere in the world, it would be into one of the Cabins at DTR. A truly exceptional place. From the lodging, to the spa, activities, and food, a world class experience. We've been going since 2016 when we had our wedding there and have always planned our next trip back before we even leave. The place is run in a 5 star way, but feels like home. It doesn't have the corporate vibe that many 5 star resorts have and your surrounded by views only drawn by the man (or most likely, Woman) upstairs. A real blessing to be able to spend time in this valley at this ranch. We'll be back.

I am compelled to share a troubling experience I had with Devils Thumb, which has left me disappointed due to an erroneous charge. After enjoying my stay, I checked out at 11 am, having settled my breakfast bill of $80 at 10 am, paid directly at the table with my credit card. 9 hours later I received a notification of an additional $357 charge on my credit card from the hotel, attributed to a breakfast I never had beyond what I already paid for.Upon discovering this, I immediately reached out to the hotel, assuming there had been a simple mistake that could easily be rectified with proof of my actual charge. However, my attempts to resolve this issue were met with refusal and a lack of cooperation from the hotel's side. They cited internal policy checks on receipts as a reason for not reimbursing the wrongful charge, disregarding the evidence I presented of my original, correct payment.Mistakes can happen, but the true measure of a service-oriented business is in how they address and rectify these mistakes…

My family and I always enjoy staying here. We love the warm cozy atmosphere and love that there is so much to do on the resort. The sleigh ride is a must and kids look forward to it every year!Rooms: Each room has it's own unique look, the beds are big and cozy and the bathrooms are spacious and relaxing.

As a long-time local and former advocate of Devil's Thumb Ranch, I'm appalled. My attempt to enjoy a special birthday outing with a friend ended in frustration after being denied access to the dining area, despite paying $40 each for skiing passes. The explanation? We weren't staying overnight, despite the restaurant being empty. This exclusionary policy is unacceptable and a far cry from the hospitality expected.Even more disheartening was the smug attitude of the nordic center staff, which stripped away any semblance of warmth. It's clear that genuine hospitality is no longer a priority here. Devil's Thumb has lost its charm and my recommendation.Management needs to reconsider its policies and staff attitude if it hopes to regain the trust of locals and visitors alike.

Our cabin had no heat and was 55 degrees all night. We left the next day and went to another hotel. It’s a shame because we have stayed there in the past and it was wonderful.STAY AWAY! It is a complete disaster there now!

We stayed here because we wanted to cross country ski and not drive to the trails each day. Definitely delivered in this front. Great variety of trails and well groomed. Nordic shop friendly and lots of rentals if you need them (we didn’t).We stayed in a cabin - loved the privacy and the feel of not being in a hotel room but you will have to either drive or get a ride from front desk to the main lodge for meals etc. Our cabin was clean and cozy and modern. We ate in both restaurants. Food is more fancy in Ranch House - portions were big - but the kitchen was slow. Heck’s tavern is more homestyle food and we enjoyed it a lot and dinner wasn’t a 2h affair to get served etc. Heck’s also had a few more options for non meat eaters if that’s your thing. All the staff were friendly and had a “can do” attitude. They coped admirably thru a total outage of phone and internet for almost a whole day (not their fault at all). One area that needs some TLC is their main lodge pool zone and gym. I’m a person who uses gyms and so I expect them to be in good repair. This one looks unloved ☹️ and the pool area and locker rooms need attention. I didn’t use the spa but expect that’s much nicer lol. Fun games room but again a bit of maintenance is needed to keep all the games working.Would go back - had everything we needed for an active Nordic ski vacation

Fabulous setting and facility, but expensive. The restaurants are understaffed and service can be slow resulting in food not being hot when served, or difficulty getting your server's attention for any request. The staff is great: friendly, hard-working and eager-to-please, but inexperienced and seemingly learning-on-the-job.Rooms: Big, beautiful rooms with spectacular viewsNearby activities: World-class cross-country skiing plus snow shoe trailsFood & drinks: Food is excellent, but often comes out "not hot". Staff did not know about the Wednesday 1/2 price wine special (nor did the billing system!)

Great facilities and experiences, but service was a huge challenge and frankly didn't come anywhere close to the price paid. Service in the restaurant was appallingly bad, most things in the game room were broken or non functional, and I kept getting text messages about there being no towels weeks after staying there. Just a handful of examples. Friends have said service has declined noticeably in the last year.

This is a great get away for couples or the family. It's a beautiful location right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. At an elevation of 2,600 feet though it can get a little tough to breath so be weary all you bikers and hikers. Having said the resort is quite large and maze-like there are hotel rooms, a cafe, bar, gift shop and clothing/goods store. There are also events rooms if you're looking to plan a special occasion. The backdrop of the mountains is a stunning view and there is plenty to do from archery, to horse-back riding to fishing, or biking. It's all gravy! Plus the staff is very helpful and friendly. The only reason this isn't a 5-star is the price can get pretty wild with the rooms we stayed at being around $470/night. But hey it's a resort and spa so I guess you get what you pay for. I'd recommend this but only as a special occasion, not your average weekend getaway.

Overall the buildings and grounds are beautiful. Unfortunately, we had a less than desirable experience starting at check-in. All other guests were offered complementary wine or water which we were not. Then the hot steam rooms did not work in the ladies spa or the general spa. We asked for this to be fixed which it never was. We asked for a room to be serviced. It took six hours and three request. Our yoga class was cancelled 30 minutes prior to the start time. The staff was very kind, but everyone was there doing seasonal work and was pretty unfamiliar with the policies.
