Our absolute favorite veterinary office in town. Dr. Chris was a wonderful doc to our rescue dog ( that liked no one besides us). Dr. Susan is so caring with our Golden we have now. Treatment prices are great! Would highly recommend! Our Retriever says "their cookies are the best in town there!"

I am so disappointed to be leaving this review, we have been clients of pet kare clinic for decades... my husband literally helped them move into their current location. AnyhooWe got a new puppy and went in for the new puppy visit and paid $97.45, we were given a goodie bag full of all sorts of things that we had no use for one of which was a puppy stool sample cup. They told us to bring back a sample of stool on the second puppy visit when he got more vaccines and implied that was part of the whole deal. Unfortunately we forgot the stool sample at home but we paid $119.15 for the second visit we were told we could go ahead and bring the stool sample in whenever we could. Again, we were led to believe that this was part of the new puppy package, and no one EVER mentioned a fee.When we brought the stool sample back we were charged another $68 without any reasoning.When I called to inquire about said $68 charge, the person at the desk (whose name is cat) would not let me speak, continually spoke over me, and said they never told us that was part of the package when in reality they did. I used to be a veterinary technician and I have to say this is the first time I have ever experienced anything like this, most times veterinarians are upfront and honest! I am so sad to have to leave this review but you should know what you're getting into.... things over there have definitely changed..... and not for the better. The room was filthy too, I'm allergic to cats and my puppy was walking around getting huge fur balls stuck to him. They used to at least sweep the rooms out between visits, so unsanitary!! I could barely breathe when I left

I was visiting Steamboat for the week & my dog was having stomach issues - the staff at Pet Kare Clinic fit me in the same day. Everyone was so so kind and patient, and provided the level of care that I was comfortable with which was based on my dog's stress levels, health history, and my budget. His issue was cleared up within a day with meds. They called to check on progress the next day, and the bill was reasonable. So grateful to all the gals at Pet Kare Clinic. Thank you!

This has taken me a while to write just due to the grief of losing my dog but I am writing this review strictly for Karen Nann, the amazing vet who was with us during my dog’s last moments. I called her before 4am explaining the emergency and she met me 20 min later at the clinic, without hesitation.Karen was extremely kind and compassionate during one of the most heartbreaking moments I’ve ever been through and even shared some of her personal life with me while grieving.I’m grateful to her for trying to save my dogs life and recommend her and Pet Kare to anyone.

We love Pet Kare so much! Every single employee & doctor is friendly and accommodating. I 100% trust them with my animals lives! Doctor Susan was so sweet when I needed to put my elderly cat down. Also LOVE DR Karen & Chris. Both of our dogs have gone there ever since we’ve had them, and I would trust no one else. I also must say they are always very clean, you can’t say that for all veterinary clinics. THANK YOU PET KARE!!!!

Would rate 0 stars if I could. Brought my puppy to this vet for 2 years and had nothing but awful experiences. The staff here could not be any less considerate. First time I brought my dog here, they scolded me for not having him on a heartworm preventative. This was 2 weeks after I got him and the earliest appointment I could get to get him a prescription. They talked down to me the entire first appointment when I asked questions because this was the first puppy I'd ever had and wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. Next appointment, I come in with my now 6 month old puppy and am again met with scoffs and attitude when I asked if they could cut his nails because he has black nails, I was having a hard time getting him to hold still at home and didn't want to nick him. 'You really should be doing this yourself at home, we don't want him to associate us with a bad experience'. Okay fine, so I'm managing to cut his nails at home, now I need a refill for his heartworm meds. I go in and am told that they will do it this one time, but they are 'really busy and next time they wont do it for me unless I call ahead'. There was no one in the waiting area and a receptionist on her phone. Okay, so the next time I need a refill, I call ahead and am made to wait on hold for 15 minutes and then met with more attitude on the phone. The last straw was, over the summer I brought him in for what I thought could have been an ear infection. Lots of head shaking and scratching at his ears. They look in his ears and take a sample to look under a microscope. Come back to tell me that he doesn't have an ear infection, but they will give him a preventative ointment in each ear. Okay sure, go to pay and I somehow racked up a bill over $300 because they didn't tell me that each tube of ointment was $90 (x2) plus other fees. This place is by far the worst and will charge you crazy amounts of money to scold, scoff and take advantage of you. Can not express enough not to go here, especially if you aren't rich like the rest of Steamboat.

We've been taking our pets to Pet Kare Clinic longer than we can remember. Everyone at Pet Kare Clinic makes us and our pets feel as if we are their only clients. The loving care and the extraordinary veterinary expertise with which everyone at Pet Kare Clinic gives our pets makes me wish that they also took care of people too. Duchess, Charlie, BJ and Honey live extremely happy, energetic, healthy lives thanks to everyone at Pet Kare Clinic.

My little fur baby (10 wk old French bulldog) was having difficulty breathing, runny nose, cough and sneezing. He was lethargic and agitated with the congestion. The incredible staff took us right away, assisted us after hours (increased fee but absolutely worth it) and quickly assessed our puppy. Exceptional client service, very professional, and most importantly friendly with genuine care for the well being of the pup. Highly recommend! They even called the next day to check in, and he is already completely different. His energy levels are high and no side effects from the antibiotics! Thank you !!!!

Dr. Schwarz was on call after hours and took my call for an emergency about my chihuahua. She had likely ingested something she found on the floor of a rental condo shortly after arriving. I was frantic she may be poisoned but Dr. Schwarz assured me she would be fine in the morning. He helped me tremendously talking through her symptoms with a calming demeanor. At the end of the call I expected a fee for his time but nope. I don't live in Steamboat but if I did I would definitely choose this clinic as my veterinarian.

Could not recommend this clinic more! I bring my dog here for routine care but also they have helped me a handful of times in emergency situations. The emergency team is also responsive, empathetic, and beyond helpful. They are swift in their actions and they have gone above and beyond to make my dog feel better as fast as possible.I am so grateful for such an amazing team of doctors + staff. Thanks PetKare!

We’re from out of town and on a Sunday with no other vet open (and with the nearest open vet in Denver) we called this vet who came to our rescue despite being closed they were here within 30 minutes and were able to check out my dog who we thought may be paralyzed. Super scary experience that they made so much less scary and calmed us down almost immediately. I sometimes don’t get into emergency vets back home for HOURS so the fact that we were seen (when they were closed, on a Sunday) in only 30 minutes is outstanding. Can’t say how grateful I am that they were here and can’t say enough good things about them. Definitely would go here if I lived in the area!

If I could give Dr. Cindi ten stars I would. We definitely could not have been luckier to have her care for our very active, very young puppy, who became very ill needing open abdominal surgery. From the moment we called her early morning until the following day, we knew we were in the best hands. She is an extremely skilled, experienced and knowledgeable clinician. She saved our pup’s life and did it with the utmost compassion. We felt an overwhelming sense of care, diligence, patience, and professional expertise. Dr. Cindi was incredibly kind and responsive to our questions and needs, giving us all the information we needed. From her evidence based approach and work up, to the love she showed to us as a family, and finally her incredible surgical skills in a major surgery. We are so grateful to her and her wonderful tech. I saw them work all morning all night handling some of the most complicated cases all the while giving our sweet puppy the best care and attention one could ask for. We are proud to know Dr. Cindi and most of all, our pup was actually sad to leave her and her wonderful assistant! Our puppy is doing amazing thanks to her and her detailed post operative guidelines. Highly recommend without reservation.

I can’t say enough about the staff at Pet Kare Clinic! Three years ago they treated our Lhasa mix for something that could have been fatal. This year, they used their wonderful “same day” appointment system to see our new dog for a hot spot that could have gotten infected. We’re so grateful for them! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dr Karen and Beth were amazing and compassionate in our time of need for after hours care after our dog collapsed and was then given a terminal diagnosis. We are so thankful being in their hands as we said our goodbyes to our guy. It made his passing a very peaceful and bearable decision in the chaos. Great emergency clinic with caring staff we would strongly recommend.

I can't say enough about Pet Kare Clinic and their entire staff! I have been taking my dogs there for 10 years. They are wonderful vets, technicians and front desk staff. Their love of animals is apparent the minute you walk through the doors. Dr. Paige Lorimer is a special person with unbridled compassion, care and expertise. love them all!! Dr. Susan, Dr. Karen and Dr. Chris are all amazing vets that I have had wonderful experiences with as well....again, Love this place!

This clinic shares a parking lot with a gas station. My family and I were on our way back from a camping trip when we stopped at the gas station next door to fill up. This just happened to be the exact moment when my puppy decided she was done with her cast and managed to pull it off. She is two weeks post op from a surgery to fix her broken foot. I scooped her up and brought her over as an emergency. They took her immediately, contacted our regular vet for medical records, checked her out and wrapped her up. We were back on our way in less than an hour with a very resonable bill. The staff was very nice and professional. Thank you for taking such good care of my baby.

I am writing this review because one of our dogs got out late last night and was lost in a thunderstorm, after HOURS of searching for her and despite calling the non-emergency police line and animal control, I decided to call the emergency vet line just to see if they had heard of anything. When Dr. Karen answered at 2am, she immediately recognized who she was on the phone with just after mentioning my pets name. Fortunately our dog found her way home later that night, but the mark of excellence was when Dr. Karen called back at 8am the next morning just to get an update on our search efforts. She and the staff at Pet Kare have been absolutely amazing to us in every routine and emergency visit, and genuinely care about our pets! Thank you!!

I highly recommend pet kare to anyone and everyone I encounter that has a pet. They're loving and compassionate people. They are very good at what they do and they are very kind and caring about how they do it. They have helped and saved our pets many times, including our cat, dogs both large and small, and my beloved ferret. My wife and I have had the misfortune of having quite a few pet losses over the last few years, having had our own aging pets and inheriting some aging pets from a loved one who passed. I must speak to the way that pet care handles helping someone through losing a pet... We all know how difficult that is to go through but their kindness and compassion and thoughtfulness really brings light into a dark space. They are also remarkable in an emergency. They always have someone available after hours who will jump to the rescue no matter the day or hour or even if it's a holiday, and even if you are there in the middle of the night in the worst situation everyone at pet kare still makes you feel like it's going to be okay no matter how it turns out. Living in steamboat springs is not cheap, and veterinary care is not cheap, and I cannot say that the clinic is affordable because no one in their right mind would think anything in steamboat or anything related to veterinary care is affordable. What I will say is they are well worth every penny. I am so grateful to them for everything they have done for us over the years. I will continue to bring my pets here and I would recommend anybody else to do the same.

We have been taking our dogs to Pet Kare clinic since we moved to Steamboat 15 years ago for preventative care and some serious emergencies. We have always been very happy with the care and follow-up we've received. The vets, vet techs, and office staff are always welcoming, competent and friendly. The clinic is spotless and organized. To be honest, we'd go there ourselves for healthcare if only those vets could provide human medicine!

Pet Kare is a very professionally run business where the Doctors and staff are truly professional, but also exude warmth and friendship for you and your pet(s). My dogs have been going to Pet Kare for quite a while and I am always seen promptly. The dogs are loved and held and feel very comfortable within the clinic. All questions are answered and you're never left hanging and.....the staff follows up with you post surgeries or vaccinations, to make sure all is good. I love Pet Kare and their staff!

Wonderful, communicative staff. Took my 2 year old cat for a wellness exam and then to be spade and chipped. They answered the phone and all of my questions when I called at 11 o'clock at night. Then followed up with me the next day.my kitty is recovering quickly. Thanks pet care!

First time visit to this office and I doubt I could've left happier. The staff were all SUPER sweet and friendly. The vet let me ask her a million and one questions and had all the answers to each one. It's a haul to get there from where we live, but for all normal visits I will be refusing to go anywhere else. Very thorough and went above and beyond for my chonky bulldog. 10/10 would recommend this sweet clinic.

I have been a client of Pet Kare for 14 years. The care and compassion from all of the vets is top notch. CSU cardiologist told me that Dr Cindi is as close to a cardiologist as you can get with out being a cardiologist. They have spade and neutered both my dogs. And given exceptional care for a dog of mine w heart disease. I highly recommend this clinic - they are the best in our little town of steamboat.

We are from out of town and our dog hurt herself on a hike pretty badly. While jumping over a fallen tree a branch caught her and ripped off a big chunk of her skin. We were about an hour outside of Steamboat and we called them ahead of time and they stayed open and Dr. Chris and his vet tech welcomed some very worried pet parents. They completely eased our anxiety and took amazing care of her. They were accommodating, attentive, professional and knowledgeable. We are SO grateful and HIGHLY recommend them!!!

Today Margaret got to give me a mini heart attach. She hoped the fence and was gone for 4 hours. I finally found her at the humane society. The first thing I hear is “your dog got hit by a car, I’ll have to call my manager to see the vet cost and how to charge you before we could release her.” I was told no more information for about an hour. When I was finally told she was going to be okay I was told she had to be watched over night by me or a vet depending on if her shots were up to date. It took 2 in a half hours to fully understand what was wrong with her after calling multiple vets around town because the lady at the humane society couldn’t give me a full answer. It took a total of 4 in a half hours to bring her home because I had to get her licensed and her rabies shots. Hours of crying, stress and money my puppy is finally home. Pet Kare clinic has helped me through so much with nitro and now Margaret. They are hands down the best vets in town. So understanding and every time I come they make me feel like they care as much as I do and I couldn’t ask for more!

We had to make emergency visits to this clinic due to our sweet pup being bitten by a very large dog. Dr Karen was the best I couldn’t have asked for better in a time of devastation!! Unfortunately our sweet girl didn’t make it but the care and compassion that she got was more than we could have asked for!! Thank you Dr Karen along with your assistants that cared for my sweet Lucy!! I wish you could be my full time Vet you are the very best!! Thank you so very very much!!
