America-loving (seemingly), very helpful staff, AAANNND they rent ski equipment (INCLUDING HELMETS!!)The gents there were very very helpful. And with the store having a feel of "America's last stand", we didn't mind paying a good bit more money for our ski goggles while we were there.They've got a great selection for a small, independent store.

We booked a reservation for 8 am. Got here at 7:45 am and did not leave until 9:40 AM.We waited almost 2 hours delaying our time to go skiing which is already expensive and we only ski once a year so we hoped to have more time since we paid for a whole day to ski. They also can’t refund anything paid for with credit card which obviously we did since we reserved online and paid in advance…Terrible experience and unorganized reservation system. Worth paying an extra $10 to just get them at wolf creek.Adding an extra comment based on the response below- I was not rude and my group didn’t comment or complain about the wait time while we there, so you must be confusing me for someone else. I also do not have a husband lol. Also not very professional or kind response either.

Excellent & quick ski rental service. Their high-end parabolic demo ski rentals were 50% less than renting at the ski resort. Service and price= win win.

Careful they don't give refunds to those that use credit cards. No advance notice unless you happen to look below a specific cash register. When challenged the kid said he would put a flashing light on it next time I'm in.Naturally there won't be a next time! No stars for Smarteleck kids!

Customer service is superb! They handled all of our needs, which ended up being a bit complicated, with so much kindness and understanding. I highly recommend using them for ski rentals and they they also have some great souvenirs.

As far as we are concerned... Doc's is the ONLY place to rent skis. This family owned/run business has every thing you'll need. I cannot express how much we love this little gem! Ever single time we had a question or ran into a snag... Doc's stepped up. Probably the most efficient run ski rental in the entire Wolf Creek area. The staff we're incredibly kind. Can't wait to return.... it felt like family.

Such a wonderful experience. Staff was extremely helpful. We were surprised when they told us if we wanted to ski another day and they were not consecutive days to just call and let them know and they would only charge us for 2 days but to just keep the equipment. You don’t see that much anymore.

Went to Doc's Monday to get ammunition for my FFE AR-15. They took their time to show me and educate me on the proper rounds it needed as well as the perfect Red Dot scope. I left extremely satisfied and they will be my one stop shop going forward. Great experience.

The people that run this place are amazing!! My 3 kids and my self all got our ski and boots here and once we went out to ski our first day we realized our boots were about a half a size to small so we took them back afterwards and they were very happy to get us in different boots that fit. Very kind and helpful family owned place!! Thank you for being so kind during such a busy time (spring break)

Walked into this store. 3 people behind counter. None of them acknowledged me or even said a courteous hello. I went to the fly fishing area, looking for a particular item. Even though I was in plain site, none of them asked if they could assist me. It was then I decided that even if I found the item I was looking for, I would NOT purchase from this store. Walking out, these 3 still did not acknowledge my presence. Never, ever experienced this poor of customer service. I would recommend 8200 Mountain Sports, just down the road. Much better customer service, well stocked and very friendly.

What an awesome shop! Brian H went out of his way (maybe he's always so helpful) to recommend some trout tackle and then showed us some spots we should try. We ended up catching a few everyday we were in South Fork.Thanks for the great service!

Great place, friendly staff. Very well stocked. If you need something they have it. Only downside is the price, very costly. Found the same $30 hat for $20 in Pagosa Springs the next day. It is nice having it in South Fork for convenience.

Do not rent anything from this place! Took my skis in to get tuned and boy in the back had no clue what he was doing. Edges look awful and set to wrong bevel. My family also came in to get cross country skis and the same guy says “idk how to set up cross country skis.” When I asked if there was anyone there who does he says “no.” Unbelievable. A ski shop that can’t even rent out X-country skis because their employees are incompetent and incapable to the point where they can’t even tune skis properly. If that wasn’t enough already, while we were talking to the boy in the back about rentals a family came in to return theirs. Apparently one member of their group “lost” their skis and the boy we had been dealing with (the one who can’t edge skis or rent X-country) tells them it’s okay and doesn’t charge them any fees or anything. So essentially that told us you could rent from this place, not return your skis or board, and still not have to pay anything forward. Or better yet, you can beat your rentals to hell without worrying about an added fee. That immediately was the cherry on top and I decided to take my family down the road instead. This shop is a complete joke and it’s truly unbelievable that they haven’t hired anyone that has any idea what’s going on. A ski shop that can’t even rent out their own inventory because they “don’t know how” is an absolute liability for any customer that rents from there. It clearly means the techs are not certified let alone untrained and have no background knowledge on the department they work in. Needless to say we will not even consider going back. On a brighter note we took our family to a shop called “8200” down the road and it was the complete opposite experience. Our techs answered all our questions and were more than knowledgeable. I highly recommend them or the rentals up at the mountain. In the end we had a good time and after talking to people up at the lodge it became evident that I’m not the only person who’s had these experiences with Docs Outdoor Sports and the people at the rental shop here said they’re the laughing stock of rental shops between there and Pagosa.

The staff was really nice and helpful outfitting my 2 young kids with ski gear. They made sure to recommend some tethers that really came in handy on the hill. The selection was great and the prices were certainly reasonable. Thanks again and see you next year!

I felt that they are gouging ridiculously bad on ammunition. It was actually quite obsurd. I had purchased 9mm ammo 2 days before at another store for 36 cents per round. Docs was charging $1.00 per round, almost 3 times the price that I've been purchasing 9mm ammo for.

Doc's has what you need in all seasons! Tony is very knowledgeable about what the fish are biting on in the local streams, rivers and reservoirs because he fishes them....The store is stocked with excellent products and they rent skis in the winter! Great store!

Very friendly answered any questions we have no matter what they may be. They tended to us very quickly. They have a large selection of outdoor gear and ski rental needs. We only come once a year for skiing but this is our stop ever year.
