This place is a absolute gem! This is our second stay here and plan on many more. How can you beat the small town of silverton and relaxing in such a historic old saloon! This place has so so much character and so many original aspects and details that I guarantee you, if you come back you will find new things! The rooms are comfortable and private, but it is a old building so of course noisey but they provide white noise machines and fans, and it's absolutely perfect 👌The community areas are so awesome, yard games, a projector, a huge TV, a kitchen to cook in, a fridge to store stuff in, old poker tables and the best part is the wood burning stove.I can go on and on about this place, it's honestly a place I look forward to travel too and relax at! We will be back! The communication is amazing! Can't wait to visit again!

The rooms are very affordable compared to the other hotels in the town of Silverton. The rooms are all very unique and well spaced and every room in this hotel has a great view of the mountains, they allow you to use their kitchen with full access to cook your own food, the style and atmosphere are very nice. We stayed at the historical straighter hotel in Durango and we honestly like this more, 10 out of 10 recommend. If I could give more stars I would, there aren't TVs in the room but it's not about watching TV when you go to a place like this

Came down here for Skijorn this weekend and Pat was amazing with our large group of energetic individuals:) Thank you Pat for your lovely hospitality! Pat was super personable and treated us like family. He even gave us a little tour and told us the origin story of the place and how he purchased it with his brother in 2018 to restore this historic building while maintaining the integrity of the original brothel here. Very neat place and wonderful rustic esthetic. LOVE LOVE LOVEWalkability: Right smack dab on the main street that all the skijorn activities we're happening at. Walk to any place in town pretty much from here.

10/10 recommend!!!! Perfectly located to everything and super convenient! Patrick was awesome and had several recommendations for us to check out. Super unique place with tons of mountain town charm and history incorporated throughout. Bed was SUPER comfy and pillows were amazing as well. Very clean and other guests hanging in the common areas were awesome!! Go lions 🦁

The building is rich with history and character located in a beautiful, small town. The environment is so warm and welcoming as was Pat (I think he and his brother are the owners) and Ivy (the dog who resides there). Our room was very clean and cozy. It had literally the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in other than my own. I highly recommend The Avon. We will definitely be returning.

I've stayed in dozens of hostels in my life and I have to say that this hostel/hotel combination should be your go-to destination in Silverton. I booked a room in the hostel section of the Avon and had a wonderful time. The quirky feel of the hotel is so much fun. There are vintage trinket items in every corner -- from old typewriters to phonographs -- and everything in between! The rooms are comfy, the bathrooms are clean (the showers are AWEsome) and the kitchen was super easy to prepare food in. I brought my dogs with me and though they're allowed in the common rooms, they aren't allowed in the bedrooms, which was fine with me, so they slept in the car as the weather was so nice while we were there! We visited the Avon so we could hike in the area and we loved it. I will go back again and again and again.Safety: Felt totally safe while there!Walkability: Everything happens downtown and the Avon is centrally located.Noteworthy details: Vintage items everywhere! Feels like a step back in time!

The Avon is one of my favorite hotels.Ivy, the owner(she's a cute Pittie) , and Daniel are absolutely awesome.Cool rooms that are each decorated differently, and so much cool stuff everywhere you look. Rooms range from deluxe, to hostel style bunks for hikers. There is a full kitchen available for your use, as well as refrigerator, etc. It's just a short walk to the grocery, and restaurants.

"The Avon", as she is so lovingly referred to by her proprietor, is a one of a kind place. It is filled with so many special details and the quality of your stay is reflected in how much The Avon is loved. Lots of practical details such as sound machines in your room, poop bags by the door, access to the fridge etc. Can't say enough about this special place and everyone should just go stay to experience it!

The Avon has to be the coolest and most unique places we have ever stayed. The main bar and common area is awesome, and is an amazing place to hang out and enjoy food and drinks with everyone staying there. The downstairs area is one of a kind, with it's stove, bar, and projector screen. The rooms are great and newly rennovated. We stayed in room 1 which was dog friendly, spacious and had a very comfortable king bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we are definitely planning on staying here again!

This is a charming, rustic old building that's been remodeled so it's going to be creaky and uneven in some places. All the furniture and decorations are antique which gives the place a very homely feel that matches the old mountain aesthetic of the town. The owners generously provide cold water in the lobby which is a life saver given the intense sunshine at this elevation. Hot beverages and a Keurig are also provided. There's a full restaurant style kitchen available for guests to use and there's even a saloon style bar to sit at. Plenty of seating is available in the dining and lounge area with cozier spots available on the second floor. There's a movie theater in the basement that needs some work but once the basement is remodeled I believe this will be a 5 star experience.Service and location were both great. It was easy to contact the owners to check in and they made an effort to know when to expect my arrival.

Stayed here with my small family. The rooms are good. If I had to describe them in one word it would likely be cozy. It's not a luxury hotel room but it is the type of room I'd find myself crashing in after a long day skiing, hiking or exploring. Our room had a main floor bed and a loft bed.The bathroom (toilet, sink, shower) are communal but I love the renovations and designs used in the bathroom. The bathroom designs do remind me of times I've stayed in isolated getaway cabins. What really sets this hotel apart are the amenities and location. For amenities, you've got free coffee in the bottom floor lobby. There's plenty of sitting throughout the building for private reading, drinking or playing games. Board games are available to play. There's a private deck with a view of the north side mountain. There is also a yard I saw with cornhole boards. There is also movie viewing available though I didn't take advantage of it.As to the location, you're within 5 minutes walking from coffee and restaurants on the main street.Would recommend to anyone looking for a stop in Silverton.Make sure you are comfortable going up and down stairs to stay here.

I had a great stay here during the Hardrock 100. The Avon is a fascinating old building with a colorful history, and it's cleverly decorated with interesting relics from the past. My room was huge and comfortable. There's a restaurant scale kitchen that is available to guests. Daniel was attentive and immediately helpful whenever needed. Psyched to come back!

Super cute and cozy historical hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and the common areas are nicely decorated and welcoming. The staff (owner and his brother) were friendly and easy to get a hold of, and they offered me good recommendations for food. Great vibes, perfect for a ski trip. They were even super-responsive and shipped me an item I left in the room. Great service!

Great rustic hotel. Held my daughters wedding in silverton and stayed at this hotel. Seems like geared for hikers passing through but nice historic hotel. Nothing fancy but it is a mountain town. Owners very kind and flexible. Love the hotel dog “Ivy”. If you want a neat experience at a clean well run location - stay here.Walkability: Close to everything in silverton but far enough away from the busy on the Main street.

This place is awesome. When was the last time someone walked you to your room ?Patrick was a great host. The kids loved him. Rooms were comfortable. Shower was outstanding. The hotel oozed character and has plenty to look at. We had alot of fun just haning out and visiting with guests playing games and looking for the Easter eggs. If you don't love the Avon. More than likely you are the problem.

This is the best hotel I've ever been in!It's like a littereal museum, just that you can live in it.A lot of old stuff around the whole lobby and on occasion also ivy.Ivy is very chill and cute. Dogs are always a good presence! (Unless one is allergic)The rooms do show their age.One door doesn't close because its been installed wonky, also the window above the bathroom door is missing, meaning all sounds go straight through, and if someone really really wanted they could ofcourse look through it, but if you're in a room with someone stalking u thats ur mistake. You can hear everyone who walks through the lobby. The stairs and floor are very squeaky, which I personally actually like. However, i think most people dont.Daniel and Pat are very nice, and they've done a beautiful job restoring this house to a hotel!Best place to stay in Silverton, no doubt. Will come back.

Really enjoyed my one night stay. Nice 3rd story deck with a great view of the mountains. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. The interior decor in this historic old building is great to look at and study. Open kitchen with utensils to cook yourself a meal and community hang-out lobby was very cool with lots of games, books, old phonograph with vinyl to keep you busy.

The attention to detail that went into decorating this place is incredible. Daniel (the owner) was extremely welcoming and attentive to getting me settled as a guest. The atmosphere he has cultivated in this space made it one of the most unique and enjoyable hotel stays I’ve had in years. Great location to use as a home base for exploring the San Juan mountains. Daniel’s dog Ivy is also a sweetheart. 10/10 would stay here again

My stay at the Avon was memorable to say the least. I personally feel like this place is a must stay when visiting Silverton dog lovers must visit. It was an unexpected highlight of my road trip. I was traveling through town with just me and my pup wanting to check out the tiny western town I passed through last year on my travels. I was thrilled to see this place was pet friendly and so close to so many beautiful hikes and lakes I could take my paddle board on. This place was truly unique from the vibe to the historic feel. The best way I can describe it is an upgraded historic gathering place with a hostel vibe and a friendly community feel. Everyone gathered downstairs in the evens to hang out. No one felt like a stranger. Especially as female traveling solo finding a place where I could felt safe and comfortable. The owners, and the staff we more than friendly and cool to hang out with, accommodating and full of great suggestions of places to see while in town. I had a private room and it was clean, spacious, and the best was really comfortable. I would definitely visit again.

This place was BANANAS!!! Loved all the pups running around (they dont care as long as they are well behaved). It was super cool how you could cook your own meals and that people were just sharing what THEY had made! Such a cool, fun, sharing vibe. Even if we aren't close, we will make the effort to stay again because the experience was EVERYTHING!!!!!
