I'm a Tour Director and travel all over the West. I know good places when I see them! This hotel is FANTASTIC and the service is OUTSTANDING! Great location, nice place to stay. But the people who work there made this experience stellar. THANK YOU Jim and team for your WARM welcome (literally - with hot tea and a warm blanket). Your humanity and kindness is EXCEPTIONAL and soooooo very APPRECIATED!!!!!! Thank you all, can't wait to stay there next time!

My wife and I decided to take a last minute trip to Silverton to stay here because we saw it online and our anniversary is soon. When we arrived at the hotel the town was having a power outage to upgrade the power grid. To be honest it was pitch black and all I could see was the moonlight reflecting on the mountains, great experience. When we got to our room we had quite a few issues. After having spoken to some locals this seems like an extremely rare occurrence. We spoke to the hotel about said issues and they could not have possibly handled it better. A room upgrade came with this handling as well as a bottle of wine. The owner even stopped to speak with us when we entered our room. I have to say they couldn't have done any better we are so happy with our experience we will certainly be back and I can't recommend this enough. If you are looking to do anything in the area I would stay here! The 40 minutes to Ouray and an hour to Durango are well worth it.Nearby activities: There are lots of great hikes in the area. The mayflower mine and Silver lake hike are only a 6 minute drive, not mention hikes in Ouray and Durango.Food & drinks: The restaurants in Silverton are all great with great service. My favorite were the cafe and saloon located within the hotel itself!

The staff was incredibly friendly. The rooms although small, are beautiful and stay with the historic theme. Beautiful tiled bathrooms, porcelain sinks, claw foot tubs. Great room service option to have the nextdoor coffee shop deliver to your room. Incredible lobby decor to that old western theme. Price was reasonable for the area. My only wish is the room had a chair but I'm sure there isn't much room for one.

It was so cool staying here and learning the history of the building. Leslie was so sweet and helpful during our entire stay. I can't wait to come back!

Really one-of-a-kind and beautifully renovated throughout. This is definitely a special place, and as 'Grand' as the name suggests. And Silverton itself is worth a trip. To round things up, the owner and the staff are very friendly. We'll be back!Rooms: Beautiful and sizable, excellent mattress, fully renovated bathroom.Walkability: Central, convenient location.Food & drinks: As nice saloon belonging to the building is located next door.Noteworthy details: Check the historic baby grand in the lobby, a piece that is over 100 years old and adorned with beautiful carvings.

This is an interesting hotel because of all of the older fixtures, furniture, carpet, etc. but I wouldn't stay here again. You hear EVERYTHING on the outside of your room - not just from the street, but from inside (hallway, your neighbors, conversations of people on the stairs, etc). Most guests figure this out pretty quickly, so when they get to their rooms, they quiet down so they aren't making much noise for everyone else, but yeah... it's 3:30am right now and I'm sitting here awake because someone in my hallway has been coughing up something gross all night - and I can hear it from my room. It's loud enough to keep me awake at night. Even though everyone's doors are shut, there are these windows above each room and they all seem to be open. Since I'm not 7' tall, I can't reach mine to close it (if it can be closed). I assume the other rooms are the same. So we all hear every little thing happening in everyone else's room. If you're a heavy sleeper and you don't mind hearing what your neighbors are doing before bedtime, by all means... come stay here. We assumed it wasn't that bad and that maybe some others in their reviews were exaggerating. Nope. You hear literally everything. I can't spell this out enough - EVERYTHING.Other than that, I can say the room was clean when we arrived. No one ever came to clean our room and the woman at the counter didn't say that there wouldn't be any housekeeping services, so we were a bit confused about why housekeeping never came. All in all, I think the price should be lowered and a couple things should be made clear to the prospective guest at this hotel:- you will hear EVERYTHING your neighbors and those outside are doing/saying for the entirety of your stay. Good luck sleeping.- you won't receive housekeeping service here. For those who are older, or have trouble walking: there is no elevator and you will have to haul your luggage up the stairs. There are high ceilings here, so the staircases have many steps. I'd suggest asking another guest at the hotel to help you carry your luggage because the girl at the front desk is unable to help.If you arrive at the hotel and see a note on the desk saying that they'll be right back, call the number immediately. The front desk person isn't far, but won't come to the front desk unless there's some level of urgency conveyed to them over the phone, that a line of people are now waiting to get checked in.Rooms: - you will hear EVERYTHING your neighbors and those outside are doing/saying for the entirety of your stay. Good luck sleeping.- you won't receive housekeeping service here.Safety: The front desk gives you a physical key to your door. Not to say there are a bunch of criminals running around, but it wouldn't be hard for someone to walk upstairs and pick the lock to your room. Make sure to engage the chain lock on your door (pretty flimsy, also doesn't give me a lot of confidence).Food & drinks: There are two breweries within one block from the hotel, along with a few other restaurants on this street. This is a small town, so those breweries are pretty much where everyone goes for dinner.Noteworthy details: - you will hear EVERYTHING your neighbors and those outside are doing/saying for the entirety of your stay. Good luck sleeping.- you won't receive housekeeping service here.

The dining room was packed due to the train arriving at the same time I did. It was lively chatter and seats full. I ate at the bar, which is historic and wonderfully restored. After looking at the menu, I was disappointed by the selection. Thus, the 4 stars. Ordered the french Dip with chips. Chips were commercial, nothing special, and didn't eat them. The sandwich was fine. Au jus was a bit salty, but the flavor was fine. Ambiance was a 5. Bartenders were slammed with shaking and making. Very good service. DID NOT STAY IN ROOM.Walkability: Historic preservation appearanceFood & drinks: Drinks were well made and easy on the eye.

We stayed in three different rooms. First very clean hotel, lady on front desk very very helpful and nice. Everything nice. They do not have air conditioners but we don’t need it, I love open windows! Some beds on third floor are too soft for us, but on second was super comfortable . 🛀 bathtub was ok, but curtains in room 308 were so uncomfortable . Otherwise great hotel in beautiful town. If you are here for the race maybe you should stay in other place as it can be a bit noisy, it if you deep sleeper will be fine.

My husband and I spent one night at the Grand Imperial Hotel. The owner was helpful on the phone when I made an error on my reservation. She was somewhat friendly during check in but not interested in any extra talking. I was disappointed during checkout she didn’t ask how our stay was or even look up from her phone. I wanted to tell her that the room was pleasing visually and we were glad we chose her place over a chain hotel. Two complaints on the room the pillows were flat as pancakes and the bathroom smelled of cigarettes so much that I could taste them while I was in there. Maybe the ghost was smoking? We heard from the nearby friendly bartender that the hotel is haunted. I still recommend this place but bring your own pillows if you can and opt for the first or second floor as there is no elevator. Third floor is a long way to carry a suitcase :-)

I enjoyed my 2 day stay here and I would have stayed more than 2 days if it hadn't been reserved already. I really liked the decor especially the old chandeliers and the many historic photos all throughout the entire building, definitely felt like a time capsule. Beds were comfortable and the decor felt low key, Hotel staff was exceptional and maids had the entire hotel spotless.I will be back again.

Good location, clean & cozyEvery detail of the hotel and our room was beautiful. They have kept the antique style in every way possible, while having WiFi and television. The lobby is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the decorations can be admired for hours. My only complaint is the lack of AC. We stayed in July and it took awhile to fall asleep because it didn’t get cold outside until around 3AM.It’s full of history and probably very haunted, but us and the ghosts got along just fine! Wish we stayed for more than a night.

This hotel is incredibly beautiful and in excellent condition. From the minute I walked through the front door, I felt like I took a big leap back in time! It is restored to perfection with many added luxuries. This is the cleanest, most well kept establishment I have ever stayed in.The views are stunning!

Gorgeous Victorian hotel. Room was lovely...clean and fresh. The clawfoot soak tub was so relaxing. Ths front desk staff was super helpful, and the owner who happened to be on site was very nice. We met some friendly folks at their Lone Spur Cafe (welcoming staff and old time piano player) for breakfast.t

The outstanding staff at this hotel was more than accommodating when our family visited Silverton August 2015. We applaud the new owner/management for taking such care in meeting customers needs. Our family was all thrilled with the charm of this historic hotel. We had two rooms and they were both clean and tastefully decorated. The beds and pillows were comfortable. From the attractive staircases to the fixtures and furniture, the Victorian decor was like stepping back in time. We lucked out to get the last available rooms at this gem. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back next time we travel to this area. The adjoining restaurant was also good. We had dinner there when we checked in. It was a cold evening and the French onion soup was excellent.

We stopped at the hotel to pick up train tickets. We were astounded at the beauty of the downstairs love area. It is just beautiful and fantastic to walk around. The staff was extremely helpful and were very happy to print our tickets for us so that we didn't need to pick them up the day of our train ride. It is really worth just stopping in to see the lobby if in the area.

This is my favorite restaurant in Silverton. I love the old west saloon feel. The wood bar work is truly a piece of art. The pianist (can't remember her name) is incredibly talented. The wait staff are friendly, helpful, and quick. Their menu is pretty short and simple but the food is amazing and the portions are great- I always end up taking some home. If they are not busy, the food comes out surprisingly fast. My last visit I ordered "prospector pickles", which are breaded and fried dill pickle spears. They had a great flavor but they were cold inside. Not sure if they were supposed to be cold but defining reduced the enjoyment. Parking is the only issue I have with this place, but that's just a generally issue in town during peak times.

Really nice hotel. Loved my room and the Elli the receptionist was absolutely terrific. Power went out in the town for 12 hours (which is rare from what I'm told) and she was so helpful during this time. Water pressure is rooms are great as well

The food was good. The atmosphere is the best in this old hotel. They have a piano player who is fantastic. Beautiful original back bar, and lots of pictures of the history of Silverton. Be sure to go into the main lobby to see more. We stayed at the hotel and loved it.

Great hotel, full of history! The town of Silverton is small, but has a lot to offer. Sadly, most stores where closed. While the rooms are small(er), they offer everything you need. Ellie from the front desk is the sweetest person you can imagine! We got hit by a snow storm and power went out for several hours. Ellie accommodated EVERYONE! Guests were sitting in the lobby and she brought some food. She definitely earns a raise! I could go on about her, and how awesome she is! But I'll leave out there and just say, that the hotel (Management) should be grateful for having her ♥️!We'll be coming back at some point and will definitely stay here again.
