Store seemed to be low on a lot of items (not sure when their restocking deliveries come) but has enough basics. Staff are friendly. The main alternative to the local Walmart.

Safeways have been around for years so I would think there would be some kind of uniformity to them. Not so in Salida Safeway. Why it is so disorganized? Why isn’t the bread in the bakery section instead of nine isles over; maybe put the bread where all the pancake and syrup stuff is. The sign boards do not correctly represent product placement nor do the the aisle signs represent the products in the aisle. It is so frustrating to shop there and could definitely use some sprucing up. The deli, the pharmacy, and the produce sections are impressive but it is definitely getting to the point that it is worth the drive to Legrees.Thanks for listening.

Went in at 5pm to get chicken from the deli. Was told by a vendor that the worker went to lunch and would not return for 30 mins and she could not sell anything. That is ridiculous at dinnertime. You can never get chicken at 5 when get off work it is always out. Also only 1 register was open with a lot of ppl in the store.

It seems overall Safeway is the only grocery store in Salida that restocked anything after the New Year. However, the plant based section needs an overhaul. You keep changing products with the worst ones or don't restock the ones that sell out.ETA: This last Saturday, the whole wall of produce was bare, absolutely BARE. No notices posted as to why. Wow.

Alex in the bakery went above and beyond to make sure our wedding cake was perfect. It was hands-down, the best wedding cake we have ever tasted, and we had so many compliments from our guests (plus it was beautifully decorated). Valerie in the floral department worked with us to pull the flowers and greenery we were looking for for a floral arrangements and has everything ready to go when we got there. We couldn’t have been more impressed and appreciated the staff here.

As a local, I humbly beg Safeway to install a proper bike rack. This town is full of cyclists and the bike rack has three broken stalls and doesn't hold bikes securely. I encountered 4 other bikers today during my brief visit and we bonded over the inadequate and unsecure rack. It would also be great if it wasn't located next to the sewer line.

The vegetables are sad and unloved. The shelve look like a garage sale. The cashiers are friendly. Corporate food and over priced lemons. Natural grocery is much better then unsafeway. My daughter worked for 6 months of misery. She had turn down tips as generosity is against their policy. A Mormon owned business. Religion with out love

I spend thousands of dollars a year at Safeways, and they all provide plastic shopping bags, no charge. But not in Colorado. I refuse to PAY for a shopping bag!

The bakery ruined my wedding, ordered my wedding cake and cupcakes in April for my wedding in June 24th, friend picks up the wedding cake and cupcakes but the bakery only had my cupcakes, the bakery forgot to make wedding cake, I ordered a 3 tier chocolate wedding cake with buttercream icing and they forgot to make it, i went to the bakery a few days before the wedding to make sure everything was going to get made and the order said 3 tier chocolate wedding cake with buttercream icing they had to call the bakery manger from home to see what happened and the manager didn't know what was going on, so on my wedding day I had cupcakes. Please don't get your wedding cake from here

Staff tried to help us find Tang and very willing to do so. We ate at the deli because it smelled so good. We were not disappointed. We have to drive over an hour to get to any shopping and this store was worth it.

Top place for groceries in Salida/Poncha. Largest selection and best prices (assuming you avoid Walmart) in a clean, well-lit location. Do NOT use the grocery delivery though. Corporate Safeway likes to hide it, but they use DoorDash drivers. Anyone that lives in Salida knows that DoorDash doesn't actually work here. Which means there's a 50/50 chance your order will run "late" for an entire day before being cancelled entirely. Just do the curbside pickup if you don't want to shop inside.

Seems to be the one and only large, local grocer. It was what you'd expect from a grocery store as such. I didn't see anything bad to write about! We were in and out for a Starbucks coffee only.

It's important to shop at Safeway (IMO). That said, the store has gone downhill over the last few years (pandemic? Unhappy employees? Not enough employees?). And I really dislike the self checkout as the computer does not allow for "skip bagging" very well, doesn't allow for putting your own bags on the area to fill, then removing it to basket as there is no room for another. Fix that, and I'd be happier. Only one live checker today so sel check was my choice, but still! It should be more user friendly.

Edited May 28th, 2023...Friggin Bday cake with a hobo decorated on it..for my birthday...from Safeway! I doubt Safeway sent the bakery department to culinary school. Yet there it was, a Hobo, on my cake! This hobo thanks you all. Friggin Safeway, you rock!Prior review... Thanks to folks in the bakery for making us a fun wedding cake. They're short staffed so there can be a long wait for some services. If you're filling water jugs, their prices are higher than anywhere else in town, but otherwise their prices are comparable. They do have the widest selection of food in town.

Idk if they got a new GM but things have turned around. No long wait lines, service has improved, even though the service desk closes at 7 someone is always willing to help. The only reason for 3 stars is some foods are overpriced like for example cereal.

Every time I go into this location there are not enough registers open. Today there were two registers open with 6+ people in each line. Obviously the management here has no customer service skills, at least the kind 0f customer service skills I've been taught in the Midwest. You should have a little more pride in your company.

Safeway lines were 5 plus deep and only 3 checkers going on a Thursday at 6, prime time!. Took 15 minutes to just check out. Prices for the food are often not under where the item should be this misleading the customer frequently. Not a good time tonight.

Great selection of amazing foods and an amazing Deli counter all inside of Canon City which is a pretty good thing. But I only give them three stars because everything is extremely overpriced but if you're looking to make that special dish that everybody loves this is where you want to shop they have all of the expensive ingredients and condiments that you would need to make amazing marinades and other things like that but I just can't give them more than three stars because I can spend $100 at City Market and have a cart overflowing with food but if I spend $100 at Safeway I am lucky to maybe get a half of a cart full and that's with me buying two or three 12-packs of soda.

My local Safeway store is going through some major changes and things are quite chaotic to say the least, however tonight 11.10.18 one of the cashiers, Kendall, was super helpful. One of the new store managers was having trouble with the Western Union side of things and Kendall went above and beyond to not only help the Mgr. but me as well. During the same visit the two deli workers, I didnt get their names, were able to get me a special order Italian sandwich and did it with the utmost in customer service. Thank you so much, and I hope the store gets put back together soon!

Nice store ! With our busy little town they try really hard to keep everything we’ll stocked ! Always really clean! They have some really good local people like frank Lisa and Laurie that make the difference!
