We are new to town and we were visiting this store multiple times a week for necessities. I didn’t mind paying a little more if it meant I could support a local store. Each time we would go in the staff was super helpful and friendly with the exception of a short elderly lady. This last time we went we were filling propane. I was standing a decent distance from her. I looked at my phone and put it back in my pocket and she began screaming at me. To say I was startled is an understatement. I blew it off and went to put it in my car because in my pocket apparently wasn’t enough. Then I see her yelling at a trucker immediately after for where he parked. He was not blocking the entrance. The lack of respect she has when talking to people is insane. I asked about the owner and this is when I found out she is the owner!! She welcomed me never to come back. When I tried to reason with her that just simply talking and showing respect would be nice she continued to tell me never to come back and that was fine with her. I truly hope she treats her awesome employees better than she treats her customers.Their port-a-potty sign also said “Yes we know it’s full. Yes we know it needs serviced. Yes we called for service” This just shows the level of communication issues. Just put a simple sign up that’s says “Sorry it’s full, no other bathrooms available here currently” or be even nicer and tell people where they can find another restroom.We will be driving the opposite way for our stuff now.

As someone from a small town, I really appreciate small town general stores that try to have all the essentials you could hope to find. And this store seems to do its best to fill that role. Unfortunately none of it makes up for the totally unacceptable treatment of patrons.The guy that rang us up was pleasant and friendly tho both RN us, but my (black) friend was treated disrespectfully and was followed around the store by an older woman (who I suspect is the owner referred to in many other reviews).It's 2023, y'all. There's more to life than being angry and treating strangers poorly.The sign on the front says that they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. It seems like that's just a thinly veiled indication that they don't take kindly to anyone they seem to be... Lesser.

Ive never encountered rudeness from anyone older or young but I can imagine it happens at every establishment. I might get talked about for using EBT , but I don't hear it. *Everyone needs a little help from time to time*. they usually save me a trip through the pass. I don't mind the high prices, because it balances out. We are in the mountains, if you want city pricing make the trip out of the mountains. Thankful they are here.

-DON'T STOP HERE-I will NEVER spend another cent at this dive market! The place is dirty. The produce and meat is rotten. The staff is RUDE. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS! FAMILY OWNED and they are ALL TERRIBLE!I watched these jerks sell food to a customer then insult him for using food stamps!

I feel sorry for the many folks that were treated poorly or had poor quality products. Every time I was here they were friendly, products I wanted were in good stock and quality. I'm a new resident here, and come here often.

I agree with all the others who have posted a review. The two cashiers with dark hair are pleasant but the elderly lady who owns the store and the male (who is her son, I believe) are extremely rude! Their customer service skills are to be desired and it's true, they act like it's a burden to fill propane and they never offer to help you carry it. I really hope some competition comes into town..I haven't given that store my business in a long time..I would rather travel to alamosa or salida to get my groceries..if the food wasn't so outdated and overly priced and customer service was improved I would have no problem supporting the town business..I guess my money will go to larger corporations for now! So sad when this is the only option for those who are unable to go get their groceries elsewhere..I will continue to pray for those who own and run that store..I hope God softens their hearts.

Found the cashier I met to be very helpful and knowledgeable, also carried an authentic positive outlook I appreciated. Selection carried no actual organics I could see although there was this very smelly freezer of almost chocolate colored meet for sale real cheep. Beef?The other people in the store were rude to each other and disrespectful to customers. Emergency stop only.

This is a sad place to get food. The selection made me depressed for the community. The staff is not really welcoming to tourists. I get it. It’s hard to provide friendly service when you don’t offer a public restroom at 1 of 2 gas stations in this skid mark of a town.

Charging double for propane. And the old lady is the rudest person I've ever met. I will no longer ever support this place and will bring all my business to Alta! I sujest you do the same! Also to all hunters, they shut down their bathrooms so you can't use them. No joke I live here in town and used to go to this p.o.s. store!

Avoid if possible. Staff is often unpleasant and cranky. No good food available and minimal other supplies. Feels like they dont want your buisness if your not a good ol boy. Not a fan. Go to the hardware in Crestone or the heathfood store downtown in Saguache on mainstreet.

The owner is rotten to the core. The young girl that works there doesn't know a thing about running a debit card/ebt card and when you say you're running it the wrong way they wanna argue with you and threaten to call the police because you say no you're not running it right. Then have the owner take you to the back room and accuse you of causing multiple problems in the store which has never ever happened. That store doesn't deserve to have anyone's business. The owner sells rotten food and doesn't do a damn thing to fix it. Rotten produce. And 2 year expired fried onions. That place deserves to be shut down.

They called the sheriff on me. My daughter and granddaughter asked to use the restroom after missing the fake ‘restroom out of order’ sign. They were treated very rudely so I went in to tell the owners that I was putting reviews on the internet. I was pointing my finger and the woman told me to get my finger out of the air. The man said, “that’s it...I’m calling the sheriff.” They told me to leave and as I was trying to, the man stood in front of me. I finally got out and waited in the car for the law. The police said they were weird about their bathrooms. I wouldn’t go here again for any reason. The police told us to go to another station where the people let you use the rr and their gas was cheaper.

Gas was $3.50 a gallon, and their restrooms were closed. I think they do that because if you're visiting during hunting seasons, they kind of have a corner on the market and take full advantage of it. Not very impressed.

NOT GOOD ......MOST unprofessional owners/workers I think I have ever seen .... How they stay in business I will never know !!!! Let's just say WHEN I GET TURNED DOWN TWO TIMES FOR PROANE because you were either to busy or to LAZY to carry yourself out and pump it ....SO WHY EVEN SALE IT????? Poor customer service as well as attitudes there .... To many other places to choose from !!!!

Restrooms closed. Diesel is over priced since it is the first stop in town coming from the north, go down the the road and around the bend to the Alta Convenience and save $0.25 a gallon on diesel.

The staff always seems to treat you as a burden and not as a valued customer. Works in a pinch, though, to get something you need. Don't count on them for edible produce, though.

Wow. The lady who I assume owns the store was super rude to me as a customer. There was no call for that.
