My husband and I stayed overnight on our way to Littleton, and this was such a great surprise. Our room was wonderful and the whole atmosphere was fantastic. Our host Andrew was an absolute delight. Do not hesitate to stay at this establishment. It is a real treat!Noteworthy details: Historic building from the late 1800"s. Super cool.

Rico mineshaft reviewthe true getaway from the getawayThe rooms are beautifully curated and the beds are so comfortable it almost makes you never want to leave. The Garden bar is the SPOT! Andrew has created a bar that has everything he needs, to meet your needs. The frozen watermelon margs he makes will be a forever need for me. The history of the Inn and surrounding area are paid homage in the locals and business owners like Andrew, by preserving the simplicity of this breathtaking town. 100/10 would recommend, a million and a half stars! Honestly can’t wait till my next visit

The Mine Shaft Inn is my absolute favorite place to stay. I plan weekend getaways just to be able to spend time at this magical spot. Andrew and Jordan are fabulous hosts, the inn is charming, cozy and clean, and the breakfast is always delicious. Andrew and Jordan pay attention to details and have gone out of their way to accomodate my chemical sensitivity. They make me feel like a cared for, valued guest. Can't wait for our next stay.

What a gem! Loved everything about our stay. Don't pay telluride prices, stay here and get so much more. Room was comfortable and clean. The hosts were warm and welcoming, being available but not overbearing. Bed was comfortable, my husband said best night of sleep he's had in 5 years. Although the room we stayed in had windows onto the street and we slept with them open, it was quiet. Breakfast was brought up to our room at our requested time and was the perfect start to our day. Just a lovely place to stay, perfect 👌

We had our sons wedding here in March and it was perfect! Great venue, Andrew and Jordan took care of everything and everyone had fun. We also stayed at the Inn and really enjoyed our stay. Such a cool building, the breakfasts are amazing not to mention the cozy common area with beautiful woodstove. They made us feel so welcome and at home. We will be back.

This place is the cutest little Victoria bed and breakfast. It is the ideal place to host a little family reunion or just rent a room for the night. All of the rooms have their own turn of the century vibe with period light fixtures and wallpaper. Andrew and Jorden truly care about each guest. I will certainly be staying again. Great value. My favorite room is #3.

Everything I've read about this establishment is outstanding. Although two earlier calls from me (on 8/23 and 8/15) were unanswered, I appreciate their prompt reply given to my latest call and initial gmail review - although it likely will not work out for us to book there this summer (needing to book early for specific dates for hiking the Colorado Trail). I wish them every success, as it is not easy running a bar and bed and breakfast with just a few folks. That they have attained such rave reviews speaks highly!

We stayed there for the Jan 11, 2020 Rico Winter Festival to ride Fat Bikes. The Rico Mine Shaft was excellent, but better yet was the hosts and their customer service. They accommodated our nutrition needs for breakfast, had the fires going, and were very friendly. The community kitchen area was awesome and we could cook our own meals, even watch a little football playoffs for a few minutes. Very comfortable rooms and bathrooms, very clean. Great location to access all other in town services. Very highly recommended!!! Coby and Tracy

Awesome place in Rico. Great family run business. Really good apricot habanero jam on the turkey sandwich. Huge slices of cheese and turkey with really good bread. Water comes in the refilled wine bottle which is self serve to the left of the cash register. Nice little store. Stop in and say hi and grab a bite to eat. Menu pics in the review.

This is an amazing place. Andrew and his wife are so awesome. Very helpful and kind. The inside of the Inn is like an old Victorian House with a touch of western. We were there for the 1st day they opened for the season. The bed we had was sooooo soft and cushy, and the pillows were like sleeping on clouds and it was not just one pillows there were 6. The next morning we had a Great home made traditional breakfast. They have a full kitchen for the guest to use, cuz there are not a lot of places to have a meal in Rico. Along with the full kitchen they have what I would call a living room with a big flat screen tv with alot of streaming channels to choose from and a cushy couch and a few chairs to sit in to relax or watch tv.I would recommend this place to anyone that is passing through. We came here cuz my bf grew up here as a child and wanted to show me the place he lived and had such good memories of.

My dad and sister and I were traveling from AZ and decided at last minute to stay in Rico, CO. Great choice! Awesome hosts and great atmosphere! The whole decor of the place was cool and unique to see. We stayed in the old dentist parlor. Totally recommend to anyone who wants a unique experience. Will come again! P.S. Check out their restaurant down the block, its amazing!

The Rico Mineshaft Inn - Bed and Breakfast is a hidden gem in Southwest Colorado. The owners and staff (Jorden and Andrew) are so welcoming and kind. The facility is beautiful and unique. You truly feel like you've traveled back in time in this clean and quaint AUTHENTICALLY COLORADO establishment. Jorden delicious makes breakfast daily for the guests and the rooms were exquisite, comfortable, and clean. If you find the time for a winter ski vacation (the Mineshaft is in close proximity to great ski areas like Telluride and Wolf Creek) or a summer hunting or hiking sojourn don't pass up staying at the Rico Mineshaft Inn. The price is right and the service even better. Thank you both for treating me like family every time I come to stay.

What a pleasant surprise. I felt as though I was a guest in someone's home. The rooms were spotless and decor was so beautiful. The proprietor, Pancho, was an extraordinary host. I would highly recommend staying here just for the experience of the ambiance that this hostel has to offer. I can't wait for my next trip to Colorado. We usually camp but when we get to Rico we will leave the pop up parked outside and definitely get a room here to once again have this luxurious accommodation that no other hostel in the U.S.A. has to offer.

What a great spot, the building and town just ooze history! We had a big, clean room with 15ft ceilings and a large bathroom. Breakfast is not to be missed as they serve incredible, scratch made pastry and sausage turnovers. Be sure to check out the history book on the coffee table in the lobby for some really great local history. The ride into Telluride from Rico is jaw dropping at every turn.

I spent 3 nights there and I have to say the hospitality was excellent. Andrew the owner was an outstanding host. He was running the show while his wife was out of town and did a excellent job of making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast in the dining room always had a variety of good food and Andrew always made sure we had plenty to eat. I was staying there with a friend on a off road motorcycle trip, and Andrew even went and gave us his contract information just on case we got stranded, somewhere. All in all I would highly recommend staying there, you don't be disappointed.

We had the awesome night stay here and you will also. Best bed and breakfast you will Find in Colorado. We took a motorcycle ride around Colorado for a week and by far the best part of the trip was our stay at the Mine Shaft Inn. Rico is a town just south of Telluride but it is a world apart in the best way. The Inn was recently (2018) taken over by a great couple and they have done a wonderful job fixing it up. Great vintage furniture and the best breakfast complete your wonderful stay. Cannot truly explain in words how much we love our stay there.

This hostel is a gem amongst stones. The owner, Pancho, is hospitable, knowledgable, kind, and fun. The hostel is a cross between antiques and replica style Victorian Western. Very clean, amazing mattresses - best sleep on a twin bunk ever in a hostel. The western view from the bunk room overlooks the main street, and is beautiful. I love the hostel dog, too. The kitchen is open onto a den that has a wood burning stove. Highly recommended, excellent. Keep it cleaner than you found it, donate something good when you depart, and leave no trace.

I've never stayed in a bed and breakfast type place before, and highly enjoyed it. I went on a personal vacation and likely stayed out of season, as I had the place to myself. The building is old, wood fired and charming. (note to those staying in winter, I doubt the place has modern heating so give it time to warm) The old wood stove was very comforting, and I liked reading the books on local history. The place reminded me of my grandparents, but in a good way.The hosts were very attentive and pleasant to talk to. In the morning I got a home-served breakfast burrito and it was great.

Andrew and Jordan are wonderful people! The mine shaft is so beautiful and cozy my partner and I have been coming here for about three years now and each time it gets harder to leave. I love the esthetic of each room and the living room area makes me feel at home. I love the town of rico as well and their local bar is so much fun in the summer.

I was taking my time returning to Denver from a training and found this great B&B on Hot Wire. I'm so grateful to have found this gem! There's so much beauty and detail in this Inn. A reminder of a time when elegance and quality were valued. My bed was cozy, quiet, and incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was perfect and I wish I was able to stay longer. Will look for a time when I can bring my kids back to stay in the room with bunk beds!!

We found this place looking for inexpensive options for an overnight trip to Telluride. If you want to save a couple hundred dollars on lodging for one night the wife and I would highly recommend the Mineshaft Inn in Rico, CO. It's maybe a 30-minute trip on into telluride and you get to see lizardhead pass! In fact I think my wife liked this place and Rico better than any place in Telluride. This bed and breakfast is a beautiful home with three wonderful rooms. The staff were very kind and attentive. The rooms are clean and very well decorated. Our room had a nice sized bathroom with a shower tub. The common room is a great place to do a little bit of reading in the evening. And the breakfast was pretty good too!

It is my favorite B&B in Co. I loved the bath tub. I haven’t been in a tub in 18 yrs. ( I’m 85, so this was special. )Jordan, the owner, is a delightful hostess. She grew up in Rico. Her dad is fabulous cook & her boyfriend, a charming waiter. Dinner was out of the out of this world. Breakfast, too. The beds are soft as a cloud. I love everything about it. ( Don’t tell anyone because Telluride is over run & way over rated & I don’t want tourist to ruin iRico.Hope Almy Hamilton )

This hotel was a great find for a hotel! The hotel is clean and updated, the beds are super comfortable, and everyone is very friendly. We had some great conversations in the morning with the owner and the other guests on the history of the area It is nicely updated and an awesome kitchen area, but be forewarned that this is an older building so the stairs and floors will creak. My wife found this hotel while waiting for my son and I to finish up an off road section on our dirt bikes. We had run very late since the pass above the town was still impassable due to snow. The owner let her check in very late while she was waiting for us. Definitely appreciated and made for a great stay!

A charming place to stay on the way to Telluride. Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff in this historic (1890) building. Have access to a complete kitchen and high-ceiling living room. The only negative is having to share a bathroom, but my room had a door right to it; I just had to share it with a couple of others. No big deal. Claw-tooth tub for shower (which brought back good memories). There is a fun bar in Rico, but they don't serve food after 9:00 pm, so bring your own food to cook if traveling late.

Hidden gem, great hosts, very well maintained, super close (30 mins) to Telluride, Highly recommend. We took a chance with Rico vs. any place in Ouray or Ridgway & we were not disappointed. The Mine Shaft Inn is a piece of the town’s history. The place is really well maintained & the photos do not do it justice. Great hosts & fresh breakfast served at a time of your choice. The town is super peaceful, safe & a literally a handful of stores around: misc groceries, liquor and right next to the local post office in case you fall in love with the town & wish to send a postcard to yourself or a loved one. We loved it & given the proximity to Telluride, can’t see why this place isn’t more popular. Besides there’s a couple of natural hot springs in the town that can accommodate one family at a time, so line up early. One of them is within an area marked private property, but the inn hosts assured us that wouldn’t be a problem. In any case, thumbs up to Rico Mine Shaft Inn - highly recommend this place, couples with pets or families alike!! Cheers & Happy 2021! Keep it up!!

I couldn't agree more with the previous reviews. Both Andrew and Jorden were absolutely amazing hosts and operators of this little gem of a B&B. I showed up late after a 17hour drive and Andrew was not only nice enough to meet me there but also gave me his last Coors light. I owe you one!The building itself was straight out of the wild west and still maintained that charm. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable albeit small but in no way lacking in comfort and the prices were ridiculously affordable. There are 3 large sitting areas and a full kitchen to use at any time. If you're looking for a cheap room with cable and a tv (you know who you are) then I'm sure there's a soulless Motel 6 in Telluride or Cortez. However, if you want a super cozy room in a really cool little town then this is it. And as an added bonus there's the complimentary breakfast. Fresh homemade frittata, coffee, fresh fruit, homemade granola....Can't say enough.
