My husband and I cannot recommend the 1892 room at the Ore House Inn more! We have traveled quite a bit and we think this 130 year-old spot is too unique to pass up. It was priced well and we had a blast looking at all of the old photos of the town (they have pics of Teddy Roosevelt visiting nearby). The room door was also directly off the street with super convenient parking. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into the themed room, including little touches like the oxygen bar and a 1980s arcade game in the room. I highly recommend this place for a mini getaway!

Just 10 miles west of glenwood, in new castle, this is the best place to stay in the area. Each room is themed with your choice ( we chose Area 51) our room was so cozy, quiet and comfortable! The owners are so friendly and accommodating. Only minutes away from restaurants and gift shops. Just an all around perfect place to stay! We look forward to going back and seeing the other rooms!

I had an excellent one night stay in the Merlin Bunkhouse! Very quirky, but it was evident that the owners poured a lot of love into the place! The murals were an excellent touch, the room was indeed pretty small, but it suited my needs as a solo traveler perfectly. While the bathroom is separate from the room, it was very clean, the shower was great, and the bathrobes were a nice touch. I definitely recommend staying here, and am hopeful for the chance to stay here again!Noteworthy details: The beautiful hand painted murals, clean bathroom with bathrobes! Easy entry to the inn as well with dedicated parking!

We stayed 3 nights at the Ore House Inn and really enjoyed our stay. Cori was very helpful and quick to respond. It was a fun, historic building in a quiet little town near Glenwood Springs. The other staff were also very friendly and pleasant to chat with. The room was clean and we enjoyed the tombstone theme and appreciated that it was dog friendly. We will definitely be back for another visit. Thanks!

I'm giving this place a 1 star review for one simple reason. They are over charging their customers. I feel extremely taken advantage of. When I Googled a place to stay in New Castle this place came up for around $100. In the end I paid $225 for one night. This place is no where close to being worth that much money. Just keep in mind when you book this place there are some seriously high hidden fees (cleaning, taxes & pets) so make sure you get the full story from them. Otherwise the room was fine.Additional comment based on the reply from owner: Oh I stayed in your place alright but if you want to accuse me of not that is fine. You're so defensive it's funny. It's good that you are posting that information for others to know. I still stand by my comments, $225 is outrageously expensive for your lodging and while it looks attractive on Google the value is simple not there. Let others decide for themselves. It's a free country.

We usually travel to Glenwood over Spring Break to enjoy Iron Mtn., shopping and restaurants. I decided to try a new accommodation and was so pleasantly pleased. The Ore House Inn is convenient, properly priced, clean, and wonderfuly unique!. We stayed in the Winterfell room with a full kitchen!!! Breakfast at our leisure! I would highly recommend this property if you love history and creativity. We will return next year. In addition, the Miner's Claim Restaurant in Silt has excellent food and service!

We loved staying at the Ore Inn House! We are locals and needed a place for us and the dogs to stay for a couple days while our house was being painted. Cori was amazing and very helpful and really cared about her guest! We stayed in the Area 51 room and it was so cool- we loved it! Also very clean!Rooms: The themed rooms are so cool and unique. They gave a dinosaur room- and the kids that were staying there were so excited!!

Designed with a great imagination, this historical building has a story to tell. For those who appreciate unique, you won’t be let down. Such a fun experience with a different twist. Each room has its own theme. Clean, quiet and comfortable while at the same time experiencing something totally different. The owners did an amazing job of making this a place that you will want to come back to again and again.Walkability: Located in the middle of a cute small town and only 20 minutes away from Glenwood Springs.

We spent a few days in Glenwood Springs, the hotel prices were expensive so I booked a room at Ore House Inn, we had a great stay and the room was affordable. The room was very clean, the Inn is so charming and I loved being in New Castle. We did not have our pups with us, but they have “pet friendly” rooms. Also loved having a kitchen with everything we needed. We will definitely be back, can’t wait to try another one of their themed rooms. We were in a Jurassic themed room this visit. There was also an adorable gift shop on site called The Speckled Feather Mercantile which had beautiful artisan crafts, I did some Christmas shopping!Noteworthy details: Cori was a great communicator, and was so friendly and helpful in answering any questions I had. The traffic in Glenwood was busy, and it was nice to get away to a small town just a few minutes away with a lovely place to stay.

Great place to stay! The Ore House reminds you of being inside the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs. Super clean and well taken care of. Each room has its own theme. Our favorite room is “Tombstone” as it makes you feel like you’re truly living back in the Wild West.100% recommend

My husband and I were planning to travel to New Castle and our dog sitter had an emergency. The Ore House accepts dogs—a rarity these days. Their policy is simple and easy. I spoke to Cori and she is delightful! She was so helpful and explained everything well. The policy I most appreciated is that the dog fee is paid directly to the housekeeping staff!! How amazing is that! The Ore House not only treats their customers well, they treat their staff well too! Thanks to Cori and the Ore House for being the kind of place we like to patronize!

I was booked this room for work. I got in about 630pm. I was given instructions by text a few days prior and given the code(s) to get in hours before. There isn’t a ton of parking so that was hard, especially because it was already dark when we arrived and snowing. The back stairs are a little sketchy and icy so be careful. Front access needs a bigger indication that it’s for the Ore House because there is also a store front downstairs. The hallways are stacked with Rubbermaid totes and storage boxes. We stayed in Winterfell which is themed Games of Thrones. It was fun seeing the other rooms’ names. The building is obviously very old but quaint. We were given the code for the lockbox outside our door which held 2 keys, one for our room and one for our restroom which we were assured was only ours and right across the hall from our room. The room was pretty cold so we immediately turned on the space heater. There was a nice little kitchen in the room with all the necessities someone may need to cook. The tv and sitting area was nicely set up with GOT memorabilia placed around the room. The bed was a nice size but the bedding was worn and rough feeling. The mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable. The room faced the Main Street so we could hear everything going on outside. Thankfully, it’s a pretty sleepy town so it wasn’t too loud past 9pm. The bathroom was clean and accommodating.Nearby activities: We went to Iron Mountain Hot springs at night when it was snowing. Amazing! The view of Petco isn’t the greatest but the tubs were awesome!!! It is a drive from the Ore House though. About 15/20 minutes.Walkability: The pizza place across the street is delicious. It’s called Hogback Pizza. And you can walk there in less than 5 minutes.

My wife and I have been staying at the 1892 Suite while building a house in a nearby neighborhood. All together will be here for about 4 months. Halfway through our stay and we are 100% happy with the room, the location, and the owner's responsiveness. We've only had a couple very minor issues and those have been dealt with immediately. The room is clean and comfortable- and quirky! I've always wanted to try an oxygen bar, and finally got my chance here! Parking on the street is extremely easy and always ample spots, but they also have reserved parking behind the building for guests. We've made use of the on site laundry room multiple times and enjoyed the convenience. Downtown New Castle is small, but oozes with civic pride- the Ore House is a perfect spot for checking out New Castle or any of the surrounding areas of Glenwood Springs, Silt, Rifle or even Palisade. Two big thumbs up for this place, we are very happy here!

The Ore House was in a cute little town and very conveniently located near a grocery store and it has easy access to the highway. Cori was very prompt with texting me the check in procedures. We stayed in Winterfel and the bed was very comfortable. We were able to go to Iron Mountain hot springs for the day. Our room had thoughtful touches like goggles and extra towels for use at the pools. The reason I give 2 stars is because overall I was disappointed with our room. I didn't feel like it was super clean or well maintained. The baseboard heaters seemed to be broken because there was a space heater provided. We appreciated having the kitchen but the oven was dirty and smoked like crazy when we tried to bake a pizza. The water will scald you if you're not careful. I was expecting an older but well maintained building and this wasn't it. The renovations seemed very DIY and all the woodwork had untold layers of paint on them. It just didn't match what the pictures sold me so I was disappointed. Overall it was a fine place to stay for the price we got.

Our family had a wonderful vacation. The Inn is great, as well as, the staff and owners. There isn’t much to do right in New Castle but the short drive to Glenwood Springs is pretty.Thank you Cori, John and staff.Noteworthy details: The arcade is fun but the quarters add up.

Pros: Rooms were decorated with different themes that were pretty cool. We stayed in the Area 51 room. The full-size fridge and the large kitchen area was nice. The owner did a good job communicating with us via text. Near the main entry there is a large ice machine great for topping off your cooler, as well as coin-operated laundry.Cons: The neighbors dogs bark a lot. Parking behind the hotel is tight although there is street parking nearby. Check out is at 10am. I thought it was 11, but no, it is 10. If you are still in your room at 10:07 am, you'll get a phone call saying we need an extra $25 because the house keeper is just waiting on us to leave in order to clean the room. This annoyed me just enough that I'll find a different place to stay the next time I am in this area.Nearby activities: 20 miles down the road from the hot springs in Glenwood Springs was the main reason we stayed here.

Merlin Room is small but just fine for a night on the road.My business partner and I were fine with its small size.Wouldn’t want to do more than 1 night in it unless it was ski season! In that case it would work well for one person for multiple nights stay. The bathroom adjoining was very good.Cori was very helpful advising me I had left a puffy jacket behind. She packed and mailed it to me within 2 days.I’m looking forward to returning some day during ski season.Rooms: Each room has bits own theme.Nearby activities: Hiking, fishing, rafting, skiing & snowboarding close by.Safety: All entries had coded or keyed locks.Walkability: You can walk to close by casual eateries and bars.

We recently stayed at the Ore House Inn while visiting relatives in the Glenwood Springs area. The Ore House Inn is conveniently located in New Castle - right off I-70, close to Glenwood with all its businesses, restaurants, entertainment and activities. Each room at the Ore House Inn is uniquely designed and decorated, which makes it kind of quirky but fun to explore. Our room was the Iceberg Lounge, themed after DC Comics Super Villain, the Penguin. The Ore House is right in the center of town on the main street making it easy to just walk on down for coffee and a quick bite in the morning, of stopping for lunch/dinner later on, and our room had loads of brochures for places to visit, including discounted activities. Our room was a one bedroom with a full kitchen and bath and everything you need for a comfortable stay - even the bed was comfortable, and I can't say that of some of the other places we've stayed. Our hosts, Cori and John, were very nice and extremely helpful. We really didn't lack for anything, and I'd definitely stay there again. I think I'd like to try one of the larger rooms next time, but the Iceberg worked out just fine for this trip.Rooms: Each room is designed differently based on its own unique theme - from Area 51 to the Tombstone. Very clever!Nearby activities: The Ore House Inn is conveniently located in New Castle - right off I-70, close to Glenwood with all its businesses, restaurants, entertainment and activities.Walkability: The Ore House is right in the center of town on the main street making it easy to just walk on down for coffee and a quick bite in the morning, of stopping for lunch/dinner later on.

We spent one night at The Ore House while on a road trip around Colorado. From the pictures and the price (total of $172), I expected more. It’s a cool old building, with rooms done up in themes (I think they’re all fantasy; ours was Game of Thrones). Our king bed was comfortable. There was a kitchenette, which we appreciated for the refrigerator, but no coffee or tea was provided. Bring such an old building, we had to go out into the hall to use our bathroom. I think the hallway lights should be dimmed after 10 pm so guests don’t have to stumble out into such bright light in the middle of the night to use the bathroom (ditto for the bathroom itself - add a dimmer switch). Despite receiving two separate text messages months apart (once at booking back in April and once during our one-night stay) telling me that check-in is at 3:00 and check-out is at 11:00, the owner (who does almost everything herself) insisted that this was an old message and that check-in is at 4:00 and check-out at 10:00. So two hours had been lopped off of what we paid for, and she wanted to charge $25 per hour for a late check-out. All in all, The Ore House is a decent place to stay, but definitely not worth the rates being charged.

I’m a traveling technician and have stayed in each of these rooms a number of times. The accommodation and communication provided has been top tier and I will definitely be staying here for each of my upcoming trips. Every stay every room has been spotless can’t say I can complain! Plus I can bring my doggo! Much thanks to the owners for their hospitality

I've stayed in multiple rooms at the Ore House Inn. Very cozy, unique rooms, fun experience solo or with family and friends. They have different size rooms to accommodate you and your squad. It's hard to pick a favorite room but I think mine is area 51. Beam me up Scotty! The owners are very friendly and the rooms are always clean. I'd definitely stay here again. It's only 10 miles from Glenwood Springs and much cheaper than staying in Glenwood. Plus New Castle is a vibe. It's a cute little mountain town and worth checking out.Nearby activities: There's hiking and mountain biking trails close by and great four wheeling and camping spots right up the road on the flat tops which is also great for hunting and fishing.

I stayed here while I was out of town working here in Colorado... And my experience with Cori has been nothing short of extraordinary... She really went above and beyond to accommodate me... The rates are very reasonable...I just needed a bed and a bathroom... But was surprised when I got here and I have a one bedroom apartment that has Jurassic Park/super hero theme throughout... Which really comes in handy when I FaceTime with the family... Thanks Cori!!!... I'll be back!!!

Merlin’s Bunkhouse deserves ZERO stars. It is a tiny closet painted cute but it is ILLEGAL. There is NO WINDOW! Colorado law requires bedrooms to have 2 forms of egress, a door and a window in case of a fire. My husband and I saw the room and refused to stay for that reason and for the fact that it has virtually no floor space, and dogs in other guest rooms were barking. The owners refused to return our deposit.Corrected Review 2 weeks later:I was wrong, the room is NOT illegal. I spoke with New Castle Town authorities and was assured that a room with no window CAN be rented as a bedroom as long as there are 2 means of egress - and since there are 2 outside doors to the building, those are considered the 2 egresses.

10 minutes away from glenwood. Easy drive over. Much better pricing. ACs were in the rooms for the heat outside. However we were there when it was in the 40s at night and there was only a space heater in the house for warmth. There was no thermostat for warming up the place even though we did see installed heating along the walls/floor. Otherwise it was nice having a decent sized house to ourselves basically. Would stay there again for visiting glenwoodNearby activities: Glenwood

Love this charming, eccentric inn on Main Street in downtown New Castle, Colorado. Each room is themed differently. Our favorite is the Tombstone Room, which is based on Doc Holliday. It's huge and sleeps up to 8 people. There's a full kitchen with dining table and a set of antique dishes. The newest room, shown in pics, is on the ground floor for easier access. Close to shopping, dining and trails.

The Ore House Inn is more a collection of a few separate AirBNBs than a traditional hotel (not necessarily a bad thing—just a different set up). We experienced both good and bad during our stay.GOOD: Our room (Jurassic Pok) came loaded with entertainment (board games, video games, swimming gear, etc). The location is great (just a quick drive from Glenwood Springs), and the bed/couches were comfortable. The price was also extremely reasonable considering the area and size of the suite.BAD: The room felt slapped together. The flooring didn’t match throughout, the paint didn’t reach edges, the finishes felt cheap, the layout of the room was strange, and the shower was extremely small—almost to the point of being unusable. There were even a number of opened, half-used paint cans in the closet (which had had its doors removed), and the extra bedding was kept in a plastic utility box. The renovations to the building just didn’t feel very professional. We were also disappointed by the kitchen. It didn’t seem fully stocked. There weren’t any measuring cups, there were very few cooking utensils, some of utensils seemed dirty, and there wasn’t a table to eat at other than the cocktail arcade table.Overall, the stay wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great, and some of the things we disliked were just a matter of taste. As a side note, remember that the room is in an old building. The walls are very thin (light sleepers be warned) and the stairs are steep. These weren’t problems for us, but they might be for others.
