Small store for a city market. Lacking selection. Lacking a lot of things. Deli is pitiful. Produce is just as bad. Meat and fish counter, WHAT meat and fish counter. Even the lunch meat selection is poor. Cheese counter. IN YOUR DREAMS What grocery store has poor can goods section. Can you say New Castle. The staff is sometimes helpful. Ryan is a good guy very helpful. I have seen the produce department be rude.

Generally, City Market is a decent grocery store, but this one in New Castle is small + it's like a big convenience store. The employees are nice. They just don't have that much of s selection.

I have always loved the New Castle City Market. There are people that have worked there a long time that you know and everyone has always been very helpful. No issues with them at all.The corporate end is really getting aggravating. They have consolidated most items down to no choices and then there is no stock as the shelves are so narrow. But hey, they took a bunch of floor space for groceries so they could have beer and wine! At some point soon Kroger needs to realize they need a bigger location. This was great for the New Castle area of old, but times have changed and the store is too busy for its size. Unforunately, I still find it a better option than going to Glenwood or Rifle. And I still go to the liquor store when I need alcohol...

All the fresh garlic bulbs go bad in less than a day. When they start growing green sprouts that means the garlic has turned. Just bought two more today and both of them are also bad. If garlic is turning green on top it is bad. Stop selling rotten garlic.

I got food poisoning from the store-made fried chicken. Don’t eat the chicken. Everything else was fine, it’s a pretty standard supermarket.

I want to publicly say thank you to Jeanine at New Castle City Market. She has done an amazing job in the floral department and the store is so nice to walk into these days. When I was looking for some really nice cut flowers for a friend’s birthday, she spent about 5 minutes bringing more and more choices from the back storage room and helped me make some great choices. I was at my friend’s house 8 days later and the flowers were still beautiful and my friend was amazed and happy. Thanks, Jeanine.

City Market has been a quality experience, especially compared to many of the grocery chains on the east coast. This particular grocery store seems very well organized and maintained. They also have a really good selection of products.If I were to make a recommendation, I would say the staff could receive more training in regard to customer relations and general product knowledge.Overall, wonderful shopping experience and extra props to the pharmacy - very kind staff.

Staff is always very friendly. Not giving 5 stars because of the selection. I know it is a small store, but maybe it is time for this City Market to expand with the population growth. A Starbucks wouldn't be a bad idea either. Not one coffee shop in all of New Castle.

The customer service makes me dread shopping here. Only one cashier that knows how to treat people with a smile and kindness in all the years I’ve shopped here. I drive to Rifle City Market and only stop in NC when I absolutely have to out of convenience. Their selection is lacking here as well.

People: Most everybody in the store is attentive, kind and helpful, very few times one runs into a sour person.Produce: fruit or vegetables in bulk usually have one or more bad ones. One needs to inspect carefully.Hygiene: The place is kept clean as best they can.They do their best with the rest in a world accustomed to mediocrity.

I am not sure what is up with this woman posting negative comments about this store. This store and it's employees are awesome. It's food is not moldy. Walmarts fruits and vegetables are rotten but I have never seen that here. Even the marked down meat looks fresh. I believe she had to take her anger out on someone so she did it here. Also, I return stuff many times and I never get a snide remark, they are always polite.

A little over priced on some items. The employees that work in the produce department are not friendly and get right up on top of when you are trying to shop. Especially now they should be keeping their distance. We are the customers yet they make us feel we have to move out of their way so they can stock the shelves!!

I've been to a lot of stores, basalt is horrible, and always my favorite store is luckily in my new castle area, all the employees are excellent customer service, but I particularly write this review because always the maneger Ryan is the best ... excellent human being excellent employee, always trying to help with a huge smile that always infects me ... this store is honestly the best they deserve more than 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I love City Market. I used to work at one. I went to the Starbucks to grab some drinks with my girlfriend and I asked for something specific and the lady at the counter told me I wanted something else when I knew what I wanted. She pretty much forced me to get something else because she wouldn't just say okay to what I was asking. The Starbucks where I live would never do that and honestly it was a huge turn of to the whole store. I think she just didn't know how to ring it up. Wasn't the expert.

For a small town grocery store this one's pretty good. They don't stock all of items I need so I often have to go elsewhere. The entrance can become congested and you can get stuck in the a while if you don't get a little pushy.

Rotten food and poor conduct. I just want to come in and buy what I need and leave. I don't want to hear about the checkout persons personal life and problems, I am not the store therapist. I don't want chicken that won't make it to the next day at full price and I'm tired of the snide remarks from the help when I take it back for a refund. Truth is, they wouldn't eat it ether. It's not just their meat department. Produce is sometimes molded or rotten. I spend a lot of money throwing food out because they are so rude when you take it back. I think the rude comments are their way of detouring customers from making returns. This makes for a very unpleasant shopping experience for the customer and we won't be shopping there again.

This store I didn't like. Although I had previously worked there, there is just not enough structure in the way things are done. When I worked their I was a bagger, not a bad job but I was asked repeatedly to ho get carts when I was busy and other bagging associates were doing nothing. I am forced to get my grocies from hear cause I don't have enough gas to go to Rifle,CO or GlenwoodSprings,CO. Overall this store just needs more structure in the way you do things!

I refuse to come back. Staff refused to sell deli food because of no mask. Total BS! What's the difference between deli or produce or bakery? I have shopped here for over a decade! Done! You won't see me at Kroger anymore! I will make the hour drive to Grand junction Stacie West

I was in the area for a month and a half this summer and wanted to give a shout out to Pam in produce. She helped me on more than one occasion, with tomatoes and other produce. She was super friendly and helpful to this out-of-towner.

This is a baby city market, and that's all it really needs to be in New Castle. It has the essnetials, and it has the things that you need when you're putting dinner together. But if you're doing a big grocery trip, getting something more specific or want more deli options, go to Glenwood or rifle.

Great service and even better prices. Walked out with a full cart of groceries went to walmart to buy a few items and only got about 4 bags of groceries and spent the same $$. Plus get rewards towards gas!
