The most amazing mountain town grocery store!!! Just moved to the area and really excited to have this available. It's a small shop but has ALL the variety you could dream of, all the basics for cooking. The products themselves are very very high quality brands that you'd find at premium supermarkets. I love the bulk section, the flours are absolutely stunning. The local coffee section is also incredible. The prices are high with it being a small mountain community, but to be expected!

I absolutely LOVE Mountain People's Co-Op. Their hot and cold deli food is phenomenal, and they list if it contains gluten and their ingredients by conventional or organic. Their molasses ginger gluten free cookies they bake in-house are a favorite of mine, as is their chai tea. Co-op's are an endangered species, and I am so thankful that they are still holding strong! I was happy to pay for my lifetime membership to support this small town jewel. Definitely check them out if you haven't!

Everything here is so delicious, especially the jumbo gluten-free vegan cookies next to the coffee

The workers are pretentious snobs run away! I guarantee that unless you look like some sort of hippy covered in tye dye and pachouli oil you'll be glared at and not welcome here.Like so many wanna be new age hippy types, they're bitter sour faced angry 20 year olds that only like people who look and act like them. They lack manners and don't understand basic social etiquette. If you do happen to get a "you're welcome" or "have a nice day" it will be given off handedly and begrudgingly. These people need to go live in a more diverse area for awhile so they learn how to behave appropriately.

I wanted something a little more healthy than what I would get at the B&F and remembered that this place existed. All I needed was something for breakfast and they had amazing breakfast burritos. I think I got turkey sausage and it was super good. I personally would prefer real sausage but like I said I wanted something a little more healthy. I'll be back

We were so excited to come here as traveling vegans and found some great food. When we got to checkout, the person at the register was unfriendly. Later when I opened my sandwich there was tempeh on it which as a vegan I have in fact seen a lot and know what it’s supposed to look like. There was fuzzy mold on the tempeh. When my partner brought it back another worker said “that’s tempeh, have you seen it before? That’s normal.” Instead of checking it out and just being kind. No one helped or wanted us to have a better experience so I just had to throw the sandwich out. It seems like a one-off thing because there’s no way this place is like this on a normal basis. Just was a strange experience and made us feel very unwelcome. Yes, tourists are annoying. But we felt so unwelcome and felt bad just for even coming in. We were so excited to find some good healthy vegan food. The rest of the food was great and we want to like this place, which is why I don’t want to give it 1 star. But our experience was very bad.

This place is incredible with so many wonderfully healthy food options. I stocked up for a taco night while house sitting in Ned. It was so nice to have a smaller grocer to shop at with many organic options. The cashier lady was super friendly and awesome. Thank you!!

Super cute, lots of vegan and organic product selection for those with food and skin allergies. Offers a widespread selection of natural skincare, medications and herbs, basic needs such as toiletries, cooking needs, candles, etc. They offer vegan and non-vegan freshly made food as well, such as vegan breakfast burritos, soups, and a variety of vegan baked treats. Overall a great little stop.

Fantastic selection and the food tastes amazing. Great beauty products too. Consider stocking Pacifica products. They are vegan and cruelty free.

My dog and I are from another state, and are staying here in Ned for 12 days. I was so excited to learn of the co-op and even more excited to try it. As dogs aren’t typically allowed in actual stores (everywhere outside is OK) I had to leave him in the car while I ran into the store to look for a few items I needed. While It is true I was in a bit of a rush because of this, I did not see the area where fresh soup was made. When I asked the gentleman behind the cash register if they had any fresh soup he was very rude and I felt like I was bothering him. It felt very clear this place was not friendly to outsiders. I had a small carry basket from the store, and had filled it with 7-8 items, and then went to get the soup. When I got to the register, the gentleman rudely informed me that I had put the soup in the coffee containers. I was not aware there was a difference. Perhaps I overlooked a sign in my hurry due to leaving my dog in the car, but it wasn’t intentional, and I apologized profusely to the gentleman, even telling him I would pay for the difference, or be happy to transfer it into the proper container. While he was very rude, he told me not to worry about it “this time”. He rang up my items and I was appalled at how expensive the bill was when I hadn’t purchased more than 7 to 8 items. I decided it best to say as least as possible, as it was more than blatantly obvious he didn’t care for outsiders. After I paid, he left all my items on the counter and just stared at me. Once again, I had no knowledge that the store doesn’t offer bags or anything to put your items in once you pay for them, and I had to inquire as to what I could put everything in to take to my car. And once again, he was very put out, and just stared at me like he could care less, and basically told me “he didn’t know what to tell me”. I inquired as to if I could borrow the hand basket to take my items to the car and bring it right back in to him. He agreed to “let” me do that, and very rudely stated, “Only if you bring it back.” I quickly took my items to the car, threw them in, and ran to return the hand basket to him, informing him that I was returning it. He did say “thank you”. To say I was appalled at this gentleman‘s behavior is putting it lightly, as my father was in the grocery business for numerous years and would have never let an employee treat someone in this manner, whether they were in-state or from out-of-state. This sort of unprofessional and selective behavior is not warranted and reflects terribly on a business. While I have been in Ned, I have found many helpful, friendly people at many places, however, sadly this was not the case at this co-op. I will not be returning.

First time I have gone in since I moved here. Not very friendly. They are now requiring masks regardless of vaccination status. Which is fine, but I asked if they had paper masks and they pointed and gave me kind of a dirty look like I was a nuisance. First impressions are everything as they say. I don't think ill be shopping here anymore, I live in Ned but ill continue to do my organic shopping down in Boulder. To be fair maybe they are just wore out by the insane tourist traffic that has overwhelmed Nederland. I may go back in at another point and see if I have a better experience.

The best little organic store on the peak to peak highway! Friendly mostly volunteer employees, excellent bulk items, fantastic baked goods and daily home made specials, sandwiches in the cooler. Just a very nice hip and friendly place. The pricing policy is clearly posted right by the cash register and I don't have a problem with it since I am a member. It's well worth it to become a member even if you only go there a few times.

such a great little coop - especially for a small seasonal town. and the prices are reasonable considering the small shop and small town.Love the cheap breakfast burritos with many varieties for all diets and the baked goods like the smore cookie!the people there have always been extremely kind to me so i'm guessing other comments here are personal sour grapes.

Nice to see a vibrant Co-op, well stocked in the smaller town of Nederland.

For a tiny store they have a lot of options. like how you can request certain things and they will provide it if they can. The coop has great breakfast burritos. What's really nice is they provide a face mask and gloves when you enter very thoughtful that deserves five stars in itself. Respect that's what it's about. Good groceries.

The produce and everything looks great (a little pricey but we're on the mountain) but there's no meat here except some bacon, and when I asked if they have bread, one girl said they just got some sourdough and the other girl laughed in my face and said no and then made fun of me when I walked away... Not a vibe

I consistently stop here anytime I am in Nederland. It seems as if the workers are always happy. They have delicious premade snacks and some wonderful baked goods. I would be very happy if I had a place like this closer to home.

This is no ordinary co-op. Jayed helped us find products and information about them. She was awesome in sharing how they bring the best of the products into this co-op. It does have a large selection of local products. The store is clean, well lit, laid out nicely, and it seems very welcoming.

A truly great co-op. The daily fresh-baked goods are phenomenal, with a nice selection of gluten-free and vegan options. (I drive 30 minutes to treat myself to their cookies, muffins, and scones.) Despite its small size, it offers dry (e.g., grains) and liquid (e.g., shampoo) goods in bulk, so bring your empty bags and bottles to fill. They have a popular soup of the day and fresh grab-n-go sandwiches and burritos. In addition to the standard geocery items, they also have a nice selection of Himalayan/Tibetan/? goods such as bags & backpacks, incense, books, etc.

Just love love love this Co-op! Lived in Jamestown for a year and enjoyed my membership during that timeframe. unfortunately, too far away now but stop by whenever I can. Got some awesome Chai while there and a turmeric latte during a recent visit. Always new healthy options and a must stop when in town. The volunteers are always friendly and a joy to chat with.

This is the best Co-op I have evervisited, and that's saying something because I like most. The employees are so kind and welcoming, and the coffee and burritos are the tastiest with the most bang for your buck in the town of Nederland. Truly a must visit!

It's so sad that this place is such a rip off to those who are not aware of the false shelf price. The shelf prices are a good example of false advertising. Normally, the price on the shelf is the guest price and then members receive their discount when checking out. After checking out - unaware of how we were overcharged - we went to the patio and tried our purchases. A bit later, we realized what we had been charged upon checking out and the cashier told us there was a sign to inform us of their "method" of pricing. This is a total rip off. No one reads that sign. It's high above your head engraved in wood. This is false pricing, and the tourists and visiting neighbors are paying dearly. It's a shame, because you walk in to the Mountain People's Coop thinking you are patronizing an establishment of hard working, honest, integritous, mountain people. It's not true. It's a rip off. (Not to mention, the new inclusion of Costco re-sales ...)Everyone knows ... when you are a card carrying member of any store - the discount comes at the register. This is down right trickery. It should actually be reported to the BBB in my opinion. And, maybe I will ...

Locals only. Asked for my drivers license to see where I’m from. Felt very exclusive and rude. I lived in the area for years. Used to be a member there. Please don’t support this place. They don’t want your business anyways. I’m telling everyone I know to stay away. We can’t turn into a country where businesses can deny us service based on where we’re from !

Locals only..... is what the manager said. We have a family property close by that we stay at for weeks at a time. They will not allow you to enter unless you are a LOCAL!!!! Turned away my pregnant sister in law! Pretty awful. Supporting this business is supporting exclusivity.

A fun little market for browsing and snacks. I've only ever visited as a tourist (several times), so I'm not sure how it would stand as a source of groceries (I suspect it would only serve as a supplement to the larger market nearby), but it's got great atmosphere and a good selection for its size.
