This review is for the sled/sandboards rental. We came around 3pm. They let you keep them overnight and we had to return them by closing time next day. (~$21 + $250 deposit per board). The staff was super friendly. One of the board snapped on the first fall so I was worried they were going to keep the $250 deposit. Showed up the next morning, they told me not to worry about it and gave me a replacement (this was only the 3rd board this season that broke).Unless you are a skater/snowboarder, i would advise to get the sleds only as sand boards are harder to use. It was a blast. We had one boards for 2 people and that was enough, unless you plan to hike to the top and go down in which case one each would be more fun.All in all, good customer experience and we had a blast with the boards.

A great spot for tenting right outside of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. The only complaint I have is that the bathrooms / showers are rather far away from the tenting sites but the sites themselves are spacious. Also note that the shower doors in the women's bathroom didn't lock but everyone respected each other's privacy. There are porta potties closer to the tent sites but to each ones preference. This campsite is good for rain runoff as it is tilted and we were able to pitch our tent in an area that was dry. A nice sink washing area for dishes. Convenient to rent sand sleds from, I'd recommend sharing with a friend since they're $18-20 each and it can be exhausting hiking up and down the dunes per ride.

Great location, great facilities, fabulous food, Dark Skies, etc...I was very open minded about what we might find upon our arrival and stay, but I was blown away. Oasis is a fabulous place to stay, regardless of if you have a camper, renting a cabin, or primitive camping!! We will stay here again without a doubt!!The store has everything you need and the restaurant was some of the best food we had on our two week trip out to Colorado. I was first introduced to Green Chile Sauce here and it was by far the best I had—it truly should be in its own food group!!!!The only thing I would recommend is doing something with the lighting of the cabins and the buildings. Being in "Dark Sky" country switching the bulbs to the warmer/softer lighting is better than the bright white daylight bulbs that are being used, and maybe having a policy to turn them off after a certain time at night?Rooms: We started in one of the cabins and they were clean and the mattresses were comfortable!Nearby activities: You literally wake up and start the day gazing at the dunes. We had family that brought their camper and we started above them in a cabin. The cabin had the far better views! You are 5 minutes away from the dunes or a 5 minute drive to the Zapata Falls trailhead. It is certified Dark Skies so go above the cabins to get away from the lights or even better drive to the dunes and you will be able to see hundreds of thousands of stars and the Milky Way cutting through the night sky, on a moonless night!

Been coming here every year to enjoy the Sand Dunes National Park. The camp sites are both nicely maintained AND naturally rustic. The lodge restaurant food is delicious and reasonably priced as the only restaurant within a 30 minute drive. Oasis's access to the entrance to the dunes couldn't be any closer, and i love waking up every morning to a view of the dunes and the valley. A must-stay for your Great Sand Dunes vacation.

They rent you boards or sleds for $21 each for a day rental (more if you want to keep it overnight). The line only had 4 groups but took 40 mins of waiting because the guys were high and/or bored and needed to talk to every customer aimlessly - took forever. If you can get the board elsewhere I recommend it. The sled wasn’t high quality, didn’t slide easily like many others I saw.

I found the Oasis campground very quiet except for one night. Bathrooms were very clean. Oasis store had what I needed. I would suggest it to others. It’s proximity to the dunes was great. And the view of the dunes from the CG was marvelous. Also, the hiking trails around the park were well marked and enjoyable with numerous views. One suggestion would be to move a trash bin at the CG.

Heads up, you cannot book online. You must call and they record your name in a book. No confirmation number, just trust it will work. We rented the duplex. It was spacious because it had an enclosed sun room with a dorm size fridge and microwave. The beds were sufficient but not luxury by any means. Our sink only had a little trickle of water, but the shower worked. It never got really hot though. When I shared the sink situation at the main checkin all they said was "we will take care of it." Maybe it will work when you rent it then as we only stayed 1 night.the cost for Memorial Day weekend was $229 with tax. The convenience to the dunes was excellent as it is about a 40 min drive from there to any other town. So grab what you need ahead of time.We also rented snow and sand boards from the oasis, and at 8:03 am there was already a line. The boards are tiny and ours had sand jammed straps so they barely adjusted at all. They do give you wax which you’ll need to go sledding or boarding down the dunes.

The store has a lot of stuff for how remote it is. Renting a sand sled was easy and it was a lot of fun. The shower building and associated bathroom was clean, however the bathroom for the tent site area was primitive. If you plan to tent camp here - think again. It is extremely rocky and there are no tent pads. It was perfect for an RV, campervan, or car camping.

Only place we could get food near the GSDNP. The camp store in the park was closed. The park however, offers non-potable water free! We had asked the cost to fill our tanks at Oasis and it was like $15. We have water filtration- and just wanted basic hose/or any non potable water for showers and rinsing off sand.Restaurant service and food was great! We also enjoyed our rentals- we had a sled and sand board. We found dispersed camping on the blm land about 15 miles away (after Zapata falls) so only came here for food and boards.

We had a camping cabin as we didn't want to tent in the wind. They don't have air conditioning but do get cool at night after the sun goes down. It does have a picnic table and fire ring to enjoy a campfire in the evening! Easier to get a place here than in the park.

It's cool to see. Big sand dunes. You can climb them and sled or snowboard down. You can rent the boards there.Wasn't really my cup of tea. Like walking through sand at the beach in your shoes, which I'm not a fan of.But if you like snowboarding, do this at least once in your life.

The best view of the dunes! 🌄⛰ site 17!!!!Wow!Stunning!!!I love what another reviewer said - fully equipped - full hookups - yet charmingly rustic.Basic sites. Gravel with a picnic table but the park is quiet.AND Dark. Yes!!!! I hate parks with obtrusive security lights!!! Let me see the stars at night while camping! This small 20 spot all pull-through rv park is lovely. See the dunes out your door; sunset and sunrise and all day!Stargaze!!!! ✨💫Amazing. We had GREAT customer service too! Had to check out late due to a tire issue. "No problem. Nobody is coming in. Y'all take your time and fix it." The lady cleaning the restroom (she's an ANGEL in disguise!) found my daughters ring and found US and returned it to us. We will be back next trip FOR SURE! Love this place! Clean restrooms and showers.Great store with pet things, food, beverages, gifts and camping essentials... (Next we just have to try the restaurant!). See you again soon oasis!!! You've won our hearts!Nearby activities: Great sand dunes National park a stones throw away!!!!

There are not many choices to camp near the park. Our site was very tight. My husband had to maneuver our camper so the slides would open around the charcoal grill and tree on our site. We maybe had an inch of space when slides opened. Our picnic table was practically sitting on top of our neighbors drain tube and water hook up. Not ideal for bigger campers. We are 40’…..smaller campers should be just fine. The sled we rented was terrible as other reviews said. Literally just sat in the sand. Rent at another location if possible as those sleds went right down the hills no problem. There are gas stations around that rent them before you get into the park. The location to the park and Zapata falls is really nice. We made it work for one night but will not return.

We do a lot of camping with scouts. When it comes to proximity to National Parks, camping is either expensive or the sites and amenities are not very good. This place changes that paradigm. The group site (#2) was fantastic with a beautiful panoramic view of the valley. The showers and restrooms were top notch! The staff at the general store was very friendly and accommodating!!You can rent sand boards/sleds for about $20 a day... and you're only 3 miles or so from the entrance of the park. If you head south... there is Zapatas Falls... so there is plenty to do within a short distance.Overall... this was a fantastic campground in a pretty remote area of Colorado.Great place!!!

We rented a sand sled and sand board for a few hours. The instructions were good and pricing was fair. The employees I transacted with for checkout and check-in were fine, just doing their job. The lines and process could be managed better, maybe put up signs to show where to return the boards so as not to stand in the checkout line. Overall, we had fun with our rentals and it's super convenient that the Oasis is located no more than one minute from the park's entrance.

For tent camping this place is GREAT! We were skeptical after reading reviews but we needed a place to stay and went for it. The owner is so nice and there are about 90 tent sites to choose from. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table with trees all around to give you privacy. The train cart (is the bathroom) is in the middle of the tent sites with a motion light for night time. Great views and about 3 minutes from the Great sand dunes park. Definitely would stay here again!

Rented some sand boards. They only rent by the day (ending at 7:30), so if you want one from 5pm to 8am you have to pay for two full days. Would be nice to have a half day or overnight rate.Location is great.

My family enjoyed the stay here. We started in one of their cabins with a full bed and bunk bed. So relaxing and such a beautiful view! My kids, five and three, really enjoyed the playground on site, not large just 5 items, and the restaurant had great employees with great attitudes. I'd say their food was over priced, but super convenient.

This is the closest private RV park near the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the only one for 30 miles.1st tip: reservations are very helpful if you are wanting a RV spot. The spots are little close, but doable. They are all pull through spaces with easy exiting. Road up & complete site is gravel & bumpy, so please drive slow. This helps keep the dust down.Showers & restrooms were clean, plenty of hot water, & good pressure. Understand all the RVs, cabins, & camp sites use the same building. I still had no problems because I shower early in the evening. Only negative was people driving down from camps even at 11PM to shower. There is a nice small playground for kids, but no dog run/fenced area. The staff live on site which helps keep the stupidity out.The store really helps due to the 30+ Mile drive to the nearest town.No large lights outside which helps with seeing stars. Shower area has orange lights under eves to keep down light pollution. Please keep your RV outside lights off to let everyone enjoy the night skies.2nd Tip: don’t expect to check in early, they are pretty set on this.FYI: dogs must be on leash & cannot be left tied up outside. Misbehaving dogs or kids can get you removed.Only big negative is people walking through RV sites from cabins & tent sites to use facilities. There is no pathway for them. This is very annoying, causes dogs to bark, they do it late into the night, right next to picnic table, stepping over water hoses/sewer lines/electric cords.

Rented sand sleds here to use in the park. Staff were very helpful and friendly on sled use and care. Just be sure to get there early as the sled lines can be very long and slow.As of 7/2023, their hours for sled rentals are 8 AM-8 PM.

For the guy working the board shop with plugs in his ears and piercings, are you okay? Perhaps you should find a job that doesn’t deal with people. You seemed irritated with all people coming to the desk to rent boards. You stared at me like I was stupid because I asked you to repeat yourself because I did not hear you when you were explaining things and when returning the board I asked how was your day and your reply was “just cleaning up other people’s messes”. Very inappropriate and unprofessional for someone that works directly with customers. Consider a job change or some inner work.

Had a great experience stopping through on the way back from the sand dunes. The food and service was fantastic! I got the french dip and it was delicious. The desserts and milkshakes are all tasty too. Cool vibes inside with the vintage furniture. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone going to the dunes!
