Although the room we stayed in was clean, there were numerous issues that made our stay quite inconvenient. The toilet tank had a crack that was covered with silicone instead of being replaced, which was unacceptable. Moreover, the paint was chipping in various areas, indicating poor maintenance. We were annoyed that there were no in-room entertainment options like TV or Wifi, which is unacceptable, especially during the off-season when there's not much to do. We were frustrated that the hotel's restaurant was not fully stocked with food items, and we were given a small menu that was further limited by the fact they were out of some of the items. The coffee shop was also a disappointment as they didn't have chai. Finally, the room was overpriced for the amenities that we received, so we shortened our stay by one night. Overall, we were extremely dissatisfied with the experience and will not recommend staying at this hotel.Rooms: Very very basic. Not worth the price paidNearby activities: Mesa Verde in itself is beautiful. Highly recommend going to all the stopsFood & drinks: Food is pretty good but the options were small

Simply MAGICAL!!!! Highly recommend staying here if only for a night! The views are incredible! Rooms seem to be recently renovated, very clean and comfortable. After a day of exploring we had an impromptu charcuterie and wine-down on the patio off the room overlooking the canyon. Every room is equipped with a deck with chairs to relax and enjoy the view. There is a small refrigerator and a coffeemaker. Whether you’re doing a day trip or staying a night or more, I recommend hitting up a grocery store before heading up the mountain. There is a small store on property along with facilities to eat all meals, all but one is alacarte. We visited at the end of the season so staff and some amenities were limited, but that’s to be expected. Every staff member we encountered was ahhhmazingly helpful. You simply cannot go wrong with a stay here. And the sunset and night sky, breathtaking!

We visited Mesa Verde during the 2nd week of August and had a fantastic time. The park of course was beautiful, but what really put our visit over the top was our 3-night stay at Far View Lodge. We were in rooms 141 & 143, both with fantastic views. Having worked in Yellowstone NP, I sort of knew what to expect as far as the quality of the rooms. They are basically upgraded cabins, which is fine - don't expect a city-style hotel, and you won't be disappointed. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and there was plenty of space to organize our clothes, food, and other stuff. The small balcony was a fantastic place to hang out with coffee or snacks and enjoy the quiet (and the wild horses!). I especially want to give a shout out to the location manager, Dana (and her front desk staff). She was friendly and welcoming, and helped to make our first vacation since 2019 fun and relaxing. Thank you Dana!

Far View is a mixed bag. The restaurants at the Lodge regularly get overwhelmed for dinner (I cannot speak on breakfast or lunch). Recommended to book a reservation for the Dinner Room 1 day in advance, or get to the Lounge early if you want decent service. Or take 30 minutes to drive out of the park to Cortez or Mancos to get food. Far View would have to overhaul their service if they want to improve the dining experience. The rooms are comfortable, but the walls are thin. Be mindful of your noise level when your neighbors are present. Other than those things, you're staying at Far View because of the close proximity to the ruins, the cliff dwellings, the tours, & the starry evening sky.

Had a wonderful time on our visit to Mesa Verde staying at the Far View Lodge. We had dinner all 3 nights, 2 in the Metate restaurant and one at the lounge. Definitely recommend the Metate restaurant, but get reservations. The room was better than expected. Awesome view, beds were comfortable and bathroom was adequate. We commented that if we could have had some air flow without the front door open there would have been a really nice breeze, then we discovered the louvered opening above the front door, duh! Everyone was nice and welcoming, although they were somewhat understaffed in the restaurant (as is everyone it seems). If you're going to be at the park for more than a day it is the absolute best location! We will go back!

Felt very tightly packed into our room with 2 queen beds and the assorted other furniture items in it. Kind of odd having the shower and toilet behind a door and the sink separate. In some ways, it was handy; on the other hand, a little lack of privacy when doing bathroom-related tasks there. Room was air-conditioned which was a plus. No TV, though we didn't spend enough time in the room to miss it.Not a ton of dining options in the park. I'd advise researching them before you stay here. To the best of my recollection, none of the places offering food is open all day long... you might only be able to go to one or another for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner. And, as expected, you pay a premium for the convenience of the food, not for the quality or broad selection. We did see 3 wild horses right outside our little balcony one morning, so that was pretty cool and unexpected.

The rooms are nothing special, but most have good views. Sadly, our main view was of a parking lot. Try to get a room in one of the middle buildings, not at the west end.The front desk staff was just outstanding - so friendly and helpful. They were really a joy to meet and talk with.We ate at the lounge, which has excellent food. The views from the rooftop deck were gorgeous. There was only a single bartender taking care of the bar and all the food orders, and she did an exceptional job handling everything smoothly. In addition, she was pleasant, fun, seemingly unfazed.Beautiful stargazing in the parking lot, too.

My boyfriend wanted to check out Mesa Verde and this hotel was cheap so we went with it. The views are beautiful, we got to see some wild horses. The room was clean but the air conditioning did not work. The bed was uncomfortable but what can we except for a cheap hotel. We ended up dining at the restaurant on site. You have to make reservations, I ordered the chicken mole and I must say it was one of the most tender chickens I’ve ever had. The mole was also very tasty. For being in a National Park, it was affordable to dine here.

After getting our key we went to a room that had not been cleaned, beds still unmade and used towels hanging over the shower. Beds reasonably comfortable; however, we were unable to sleep-around midnight we were awakened by the sound of water. Once we realized it was our toilet bowl refilling/running every 15 mins. we turned the water off to the toilet. Then we heard the guy in the room next to us coughing and later heard someone using the restroom. Walls soooo thin. Would not recommend staying here-drive to Durango!!!! Food at the Metate restaurant was acceptable and the view was lovely.

Dana, the manager, is amazing! We ran into some trouble with altitude sickness and needed to shift reservations some. She was so supportive, gracious and kind. I cannot recommend them enough for their customer service alone! The view is stunning and the rooms were adorable. I would highly recommend them for those that want a breathtaking view and Mesa Verde adventure!

The pictures on their web page present this as a high class establishment. However the accommodation is clearly in need of a full renovation and the staff numbers in the restaurant, hotel and bar are far too low and they have not been trained. In my time in Colorado, this was by far the worst customer service I have received. On our first night we ate in the upstairs bar, the service was embarrassing and we had to return a burger and fries as it was served cold. The second evening we had booked a table in the restaurant, the views are amazing, however again the staff struggled to meet our basic needs and the drinks / desserts could not be presented together. We did not pay for the final glasses of wine as they arrived after we had finished and deserts and were leaving. When I notified reception that the soap dispensers etc for the shower were empty I was given 'top up's' in coffee cups, I have no idea if I was expected to dismantle their dispensers and fill myself? On our last morning we decided to eat breakfast in Durango as the canteen style facilities offered were low quality, expensive and a good walk from the accommodation. In summary I would highly recommend Mesa Verde National Park, however look to source accommodation outside the park and dive in each day.

Beautifully designed with a balcony to look over the valley or the stars. Is rustically decorated and showing some wear...rather soft beds. Dining room was great for dinner, but breakfast at the nearby cafe was pretty bad. The omelets were delicious but it takes a long time to cook as you are at 8,000 ft. alt. The altitude can be daunting for people with altitude sickness. But you are inside of a beautiful National Park.

Best location! I paid for 2 Queen deluxe view and got a view of parking lot/street (room 240). I switched to 2 Double deluxe view and got a better view facing canyon (room 149). I got an awesome sunrise and horses visited us below our balcony in the early morning. Water pressure in shower was intense and felt like a deep tissue massage. That was a pro for me but I don't understand why a national park is wasting water. Lodge had billiards and arcade. Pros: location, view, sunrise, horses. Cons: no creamer for coffee, water in shower slow to drain, conditioner container was empty, paid for 2 Queens but slept on 2 Doubles.

Stayed here with my family for one night, as it was a prime location for viewing the solar eclipse. The solar eclipse ended around 10:35, and we were hoping for an early check-in. We were told by the woman at the front desk that it could be 2:30 at the earliest. We waited in the cafe. Around 1:45, my husband calls the front desk and asks if there was a room available. He was told yes. We make our way back to the reception and my husband goes in and he is told that no, there aren't any rooms available, and that they won't be available until 4:00. About 10 minutes later, I go in and ask if there are any rooms available yet. This time, the clerk was able to switch some things around and was able to get us into a room about 2:00.We were surprised at how tiny the room was, including the bathroom. It was almost impossible to squeeze between the shower door and wall when the shower door was opened. Toilet was super low. Also, our shower had significant leakage seeping onto the sidewalk on the outside of the building. No tv, no secure wifi (or any that worked for that matter). I guess the idea is to enjoy the view, but it would have been nice to have a heads up that these things are not available. It's pitch dark at night on the property, so you're just left twiddling your thumbs. The reception area smelled of sewage horribly. The smell was so bad that it turned us off from eating at the attached restaurant. There are no other restaurants within a 30-45 min drive, so we resorted to eating a few snacks that we brought along for our road trip. Staff was unfriendly. At checkout, the woman at the desk didn't greet us or bother to ask how our stay was. She just said, "here's your receipt". In the hospitality industry, good customer service is expected and appreciated. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mesa Verde. Much better to stay in Durango.

This hotel my boyfriend found on a whim for a easy weekend getaway. The room itself was clean, basic. The balcony was an amazing touch and the views spectacular. The beds were comfortable and they provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the showers which was nice.Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and always there to answer questions. We had drinks at the Far View Lounge upstairs. There was only one lady running the bar and taking orders but she did a great job and was very personable. We then had dinner at the Metste Room. Reservations are a must so keep that in mind. The menu is small but the trput we had was perfect. Something light after such a long journey to the location itself. Had breakfast at the Far View Terrace Cafe and gift shop. Good choices for something to get your day started.Saw plenty of animals. Wild horses on the property, deer wandering through, coyotes howling in the distance and bats catching bugs. Sooo many stars at night as well! Wifi is spotty and there is no TV so it's a good place to disconnect as well.I hope to be back soon!

Make sure to bring your cleaning supplies with you! We were notified from guest services that they do not have cleaning services in-between guests; therefore, you will need to clean your own room & bathroom. Needless to say, I was rather disgusted with the bathroom from prior guests; luckily we had some disinfectant wipes with us. The coffee maker in the room was not cleaned out either (moldy) and the water from the sink smelled very strongly of metal. We attempted to eat Far View Lodge; however, we left as they would not combine two tables together so our party of 5 could sit together. We ended up eating downstairs at Metate Room (fine dining) and the food was excellent.

Motel 6 quality with Hilton prices. The only thing going for this place is the location. Cheaply appointed and sparsely furnished rooms. No working internet in the rooms, and as advertised, no TV.Although it advertises the views, our room's view was not that great.Check-in staff not very informative about the park.Main building smells like a sewer problem. The lounge was nice for an evening drink and small meal. The food offerings were limited, but actually very good.

Great place to stay while exploring Mesa Verde National Park! Very convenient to many of the nearby sites and places to hike. Dining is available for breakfast at a nearby location, while lunch and dinner are available at this location. Gift shop, as well as a bar to order drinks and eat. Wi-Fi is spotty at this location but enough for basic browser viewing. Amazing nights skies are definitely possible with the dark skies of Mesa Verde.

We stayed for three nights in a king room. Paid a little extra for a view. WOW. The view from our room was awe inspiring. The room was a little cramped. Bed was very comfy. No TV which was fine with us. Wifi and cell service is incredibly hit and miss in the room, so don’t count on any internet connection. Biggest complaint and why I gave the room 3 stars and the overall four stars is that the rooms are not very soundproof. We could hear every footstep of the people above us and could hear clunks and bumps from the room next to us when they were occupied. But this is a great place to stay if you plan to visit Mesa Verde. Location is excellent.Nearby activities: Quick access to the parks ancient structures.

Room 201 7/29/23. Room was over 85 degrees. Turned ac down as low as it would go, temp never went down. Our family packed up at 2am and slept in car to our next location. Was too hot to sleep in there. The ac unit was getting cold, I think the bed was so close to the unit it could circulate the air. These rooms barley have enough room to walk between the beds.

We arrived for a two night stay and checked-in. Once we got to our room, we realized they had given us a one-bed room for a family of four. We went back to the desk where we were told that they didn't have any availability for 2 nights with 2 beds- even though our reservation was correct. We asked about a roll-away bed to try to squeeze 4 people in the one-bed room. We were told that wouldn't be possible unless we requested it PRIOR to our stay. Basically, we were told it was our problem they booked us on the wrong room and weren't going to fix this. Thankfully, another desk worker (I wish I knew her name) looked at availability on separate nights. We would have to move rooms and the 2nd night was going to have to be a standard room instead of the deluxe that we reserved. The first room had a wonderful view, but it was a connecting room. When the guests arrived, we could hear EVERYTHING. They were not being loud, they were just going about their business. I could hear them in the restroom, I could hear them walking across the room, I could hear them unzip their suitcase! The soap dispenser at the sink had been ripped off the wall and no alternative supplied and the iron was missing. This was the deluxe room? Checking out of our first room the next morning we heard 2 other families that had significant issues with their check-in and rooms the night before. Others were having to move to a different room as well. When we got to our 2nd room we noticed the differences between the deluxe (soap was present, but the iron still was not) and standard. Most notably was the LARGE spider web above the door ON THE INSIDE. There was at least 15 bugs/flies that were caught in this massive web just above the door CLEARLY VISIBLE and REACHABLE in order to clean. We would have moved to a different hotel in Cortez the 2nd night even though we would have had to drive 45 minutes, but we determined that the booking was not refundable. That is the ONLY reason we stayed the 2nd night.

It's this is the place to stay if you are seeing the ruins at Mesa Verde. Everything was good except I wouldn't call the rooms safe. The view rooms with balconies are not safe. The beams supporting the cross slats are 36" apart making for unsafe conditions on the deck. I would not consider these balconies rated for safe occupation. Even my child at 90 pounds made the plastic boards bow.Rooms: Simple, don't expect muchNearby activities: Proximity to the ruins is the bestSafety: The decks are not safe.

Terrible stay. Several things in our room were broken, including the faucet handles, shower handle, patio door knob and wardrobe. Wifi is non-existent in the rooms. Food options are either extremely expensive or hostile to families with young children. Light pollution is awful, every unit has a bright porch light, so there is NO dark sky viewing.Rooms: Lots of things in our room were broken.Nearby activities: Good access to activities inside Mesa Verde.Walkability: As walkable as a rural location can be.Food & drinks: Expensive and hostile towards families.

We had mice in our room at night, absolutely not OK!!The soap dispenser by the sink leaked orange liquir soap whether you touched it or not.Trying to get into and out of the room, bathroom, and shower with all the doors there together was difficult.I know this is the only show in town, i.e., Mesa Verde National Park - which we loved - but you will be happier if you stay anywhere else, even if you have to drive into the park. The campground would probably be nicer in a good tent, honestly.

A little late posting this, my bad. We absolutely loved this place and wished we had stayed two nights versus only one night. The design of the hotel mimics the cliff dwellings and blends nicely into the landscape. It’s a long drive from the park entrance, so staying within the park and being close to many of the sites was a must for us. Our room appeared to be recently updated and was nicely decorated. Having a balcony was great and even though it was a little chilly, sitting out watching the sunset was relaxing. The hotel was winding down for the end of the season and I think they were due to shut down in 2-3 weeks so the front desk staff was a little light. I felt bad for them as they were doing their best to be professional and check people in and out. We had a great stay and I’d definitely would stay here again.

A little disappointing. Room was clean and the grounds were tidy, but our room (a king room) was quite small and the balcony that looks large on the website was barely big enough to sit out on with my wife in two chairs. The view was nice, though. Not a bad stop on our vacation, but less than anticipated from the description and website pics.

Location is superb, welcoming receptionist, the rest pretty dated. Lights in the bathroom don’t work, extractor fan very loud, toilet doesn’t flush properly.Metate dining room limited menu selections, our dinner arrived with cold vegetables and hot very fatty meat over cold potatoes. The Far View lying on our second night was a comedy of errors! Took over 50 minutes to be served our food, and despite being offered sauces and requests none turned up!
