I recently visited the Ruxton's Trading Post, and it was a delightful experience. The authenticity of the items showcased was truly impressive, reflecting a deep appreciation for Western and Native American history. The owners, Gretchen and Mike Graham, knowledge and passion added to the charm, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in unique and well-preserved artifacts. The store's ambiance evokes a nostalgic feel, and the carefully curated collection deserves nothing less than five stars.

Similar to many reviews here, the petty owners need to mind their business. The three parking spaces in front of Ruxton's Trading Post are *PAID PUBLIC* parking spaces. @Ruxton's owners, these parking spaces are not dedicated for your shop. If you want dedicated parking for Ruxton's, move locations! When I pay I can go do whatever I like for two hours. Do not come out and confront me about what I'm doing and harass me because it doesn't align with how you want the *PAID PUBLIC* parking spaces to be used. This is none of your business, leave me alone.@Everyone else reading this, these parking spaces are available to you! Ignore Ruxton's lurking owners who claim and govern the *PAID PUBLIC* parking spaces as their own. If you pay to park here go do whatever you like, including popping into Ruxton's if they don't interrogate you curbside first.

This shop is a gem! It features a variety of Western inspired merchandise, cowboy hats, and rustic antiques. The staff/owners are present in the shop and even opened the door for visitors. Their dogs are adorable and lounge around the shop.

This place is definitely worth stopping in if you’re visiting Manitou Springs! Owner and his wife were awesome! Gave me a great deal on 3 license plates! He really helped me find exactly what I was looking for and the prices here were the best I’ve seen! He gave me his card and I will definitely be ordering plates from here to Texas in the near future! Can’t wait to be back here! Thanks again!

If you want to enjoy a nice day in Manitou Springs, you’ll avoid this shop. We were parked in a designated parking spot, paid for the two hour parking, and had the ticket on our dashboard as directed. When we returned to our car, the owner of this shop came out and accused us of being parked there for 5 hours and called the police on us. At first I thought he was being sarcastic so I was laughing it off and quickly came to realize he was pretty uptight about our legally parked vehicle. If you plan on visiting this shop maybe bring him a fresh pair of panties because obviously his were stuck somewhere dark. Good times.

Owner is quite rude. Will not visit again.EDITED TO ADD:It’s a shame to see a longtime business owner in a small tourist town feel he needs to attack a patron of his business and community. I have long loved visiting Manitou, often browsed through his store, and have always told friends and colleagues that they should visit the Ruxton Trading post while they are in town. They have great hats! I like their dogs! What a sad way to find out that the owner feels he controls not just his business, but the street in front of it, and feels a need to police tourists in his town.If I had been aware that I was not allowed to park on the street for the incline, I would not have done so. I admit that I made a mistake of ignorance. When a random man who has been leering at you for ten minutes demands to know where you’ve been without introducing himself, though, you might decline to be interrogated, too. I paid to park in that spot. I was delighted that it was in front of Ruxton’s so I could browse through after my hike. My enthusiasm was misplaced. My review stands. The owner is rude. He made me uncomfortable while in his business, on a public street, and visiting a town I usually love. He did not greet me when I entered his store. He stared me down as I stood by my car. He did not identify himself before demanding where I had been. I would not suggest interacting with him, and I will caution my colleagues at, yes, The North Face, who love the outdoors and often visit Manitou, to avoid his business.I have spent my career in retail. A little kindness goes a long way. You might not know who has silently been your supporter for years until you attack them for parking incorrectly.

My husband and I came to visit my parents, not expecting to receive the amount of kindness and assistance that we had in this store. Store owner Mike was such a lovely man who explained in detail to my husband and step father about gun holsters. Mike also gave wonderful recommendations to them both as the two were like children in a candy store. An amazing experience for my family, and I will be sure to return again as soon as possible!

Great family owned store in Manitou Springs, which carries western decor items. The owner is sweet and helpful. He made good recommendations and most things are fairly priced compared to other stores in Colorado Springs or any of the bigger touristy spot. We will definitely visit Mike and Gretchen's store again. My boys loved their dogs and they were super nice about our boys being in the store. Go check them out.

The proprietors were as friendly as could be, and they helped me every way they could. They have a great selection of felt hats, both open roads/fedoras and western styles of qualities ranging from 5x all the way up to 100% beaver. There was also a large selection of hat bands and other western accessories. Besides all this, they had historic western clothing and animal hides along with various souvenirs and trinkets. I’d give 6 stars if possible.

Such a great store! We got the neatest vintage metal sign that I loved despite knowing we'd have to carry it through the airport to get it home. Worth it.

Just moved to Manitou Springs and the owners there showed us the hospitality the town is known for. While browsing for odds/ends to put in my new place I kept finding little gems everywhere I looked! Cast iron which is my favorite to cook on, unusual glass trinkets, beautiful blankets and much more. Definitely a place to stop in and browse and buy.

I enjoyed first meeting the dogs, then exploring, then visiting with the happy dogs again.MANY, MANY interesting things to look at. Would be great to be able to buy many more things there. I dropped by twice in just a few days because there were so many great things to see. Mike & Gretchen were friendly & nice to talk to.Oddly enough, this is where I found a really special, rare, vintage MASI handbuilt racebike that also happened to be my exact size! My understanding was that it had been there for years, with several people talking about buying it (but then flake) but now I own it & enjoy it every day!I would recommend this shop to anybody in the area. Could count on just about anyone being able to find something great for yourself, or for a fantastic gift. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Manitou.....also sorta' fun to see 2 of the items I purchased in the collection of photos posted here.

Wow this is probably top 2 cowboy stores I've ever been in. Mike is an amazing as a person and very knowledgeable about the cowboy history. I'm 100 percent sure anybody could walk into that store and come out with a smile and hopefully a piece of history and new cowboy hat.

This place is for lovers of old west paraphernalia, cowboy hats, and western boots. Parking is on-street on a hilly curve. Cool photos and mine certificates of the Earps.
