Our home has approximately 1800sqft of hardwood floor, primarily white oak but also a very intricate oak and walnut chevron inlay in the front entry. Schmidt Custom Floors was the original designer and installer in 2019. After a pipe broke on the main floor and flooded under some of the hardwood, we had to remove a section of the floor bordering the inlay. We called Schmidt who did an immaculate job piecing in the damaged areas, then sanding and refinishing the entire floor to look as good as new. They were courteous, timely and very considerate of the fact that we still had to live in the house during the repair period. They were absolutely fantastic in every way!

Schmidt Custom Floors has done a great job for us again! Everyone we have worked with in the company is polite, courteous, knowledgeable and really seems to care about the customer! We have used them in three different properties to refinish old, damaged wood flooring, and have been thrilled with the outcome every time! They even replaced some heavily stained areas with new pieces of wood and the new pieces blend in seamlessly! They definitely take pride in their work!

I let SCF do everything for me! When I left the upstairs was carpet. When I returned it was all hickory! I went with the prime stain. The floor is beautiful! Dave and Lauren were wonderful to work with! They know their stuff!

We are generally pleased with the results of the work they did: refinish existing red oak floors and new install of red oak floors in other rooms, but certain things come to mind…The stain color was not as dark as I expected from the sample he did. It seems like too much color was wiped off. (Photo 1 vs final photos 2&3)The smell was horrible. They did top coats on a Friday and I’d say the strong stain smell was not gone until Monday. I advise staying out of the house those 3 days. I was told it would just smell like Elmer’s glue, not so.I felt the guys were a bit careless dragging their hoses around and scuffing up the walls, which we don’t even have touch up paint for.I would recommend them, just take heed to my comments as well.

Updating the electrical work in my new-to-me older house created an avalanche of other issues, leaving me needing an entirely new kitchen. But before I can tackle that, a substrate of thin, damaged plywood had to be removed. It had been installed over the original 'box car' oak flooring and was held in place with narrow 1.5" staples, many of which broke when I tried to remove them. And there were literally thousands of them. Nightmare!!Lauren at Schmidt Custom Floors listened carefully to my tale of woe, assured me it wasn't as dire a problem as it seemed, sympathized with my desire to save the original floors, and made certain the whole job went smoothly and sweetly. She was such a joy to work with!Dave, their very knowledgable salesman, came out the next day to assess the situation and confirmed the floors could be sanded and restored. He's who identified them as a mix of red and white oak, originally used to build rail cars and repurposed later as flooring.One week later, after three days of expert work by Tylor and Sebastian, I have beautiful, smooth, authentic hardwood kitchen and laundry room floors, (I was super lucky in terms of timing!). And they did it all with perfect good humor even when faced with exactly how many staples there were to be dealt with, and without filling the rest of the house with dust.Honestly, you would never know how bad the 'before' was if you only saw the 'after'. My floors are smooth and sleek. Even more 'Perfectly Imperfect' than I'd hoped, reflecting their history and authenticity in ways no replacement possibly could.At every stage of this comparatively small job everyone at Schmidt Custom Floors listened carefully to what I wanted. No one tried to talk me out of keeping the original wood or attempted to upsell me in any way. They are all a pleasure to work with and I cannot imagine ever wanting to work with anyone else. They are the Best of the Best!

I cannot recommend Schmidt Custom Floors. Schmidt did an ok job installing new hard floors in our office, however, the attention to detail is lacking. We thought Schmidt was a premier flooring company and was willing to pay more for better quality and better service, unfortunately, this was a mistake. When I emailed them and called them to discuss the situation I was ignored. Specifically, they left the old caulk on the baseboards and cracked the plaster in one area. If Schmidt doesn’t want to do premier work and avoid such details that is fine, but at least reply to a paying customer’s concerns. The only time they contacted us after the job was done was to request the final payment which is insulting. #toolittletoolate

Barry came through on short notice to quote our refinish/patch job. His company has an impressive portfolio of work, and this was one job I was not willing to take on during my remodel. The red oak floors in my 100 year old house were patched and stained Country White, and a water-based poly with additional white tint was applied. We went from dated, red/yellow flooring to a whitewashed look to match our contemporary kitchen/living room remodel.Short-term review: I haven’t been on the floors yet, but the new look is exactly what we desired.-The patches blend nicely.-The stain hid most of the red/pink hues.-Gaps and holes are filled using Duraseal’s trowel-able wood filler.-The crew was knowledgeable and friendly.Long-term review: N/A

Schmidt Custom Floors was an answer to our prayers. After another Loveland hardwood flooring contractor left us holding the bag with an inferior finish on our newly installed hardwood floors, we turned to Schmidt to fix the problems the original contractor wouldn't. Schmidt sanded off the too-many layers of peeling poly and the blotchy stain color to bare wood throughout the entire house and refinished the floors with even stain color and a beautiful finish. After waiting nearly six months for the other contractor to do what was right, we are now able to move back into our home and enjoy beautiful floors.Schmidt's customer service was outstanding from the first meeting with Dave and Lauren. Schmidt followed the schedule, provided skilled tradesmen (Mark and Corey), and met with us promptly for follow-up questions and minor touchups. A big thank you to the staff at Schmidt Custom Flooring!

My recent experience with Schmidt Custom Floors was outstanding. The process was explained in detail, with follow-up of written information via email. The schedule was clear and reliable. The work was done as scheduled. The results are beautiful. The job was to refinish the heart pine floors in the kitchen where the finish in some areas was completely worn. The sanding machine's vacuum left no sawdust on any surfaces. Amazing. Due to the hand sanding at the edges it was not necessary to move the range or the refrigerator. The edges are perfect. The finish matches the other rooms. This is a great company to work with.

They did a fantastic job on our hard wood floors!The floors look great and their attention to details was above and beyond.They fixed broken tile and matched the grout where the floors met- we had been meaning to fix those tiles forever. They also did small detail work around some post we had. The other companies said to hire out the job because they wouldn't do that. Amd, they cost about half what the others were charging! Highly recommended

I had went through a very bad bathroom remodel with a previous tile setter (not Schmidt) and it needed completely re-done (down to the studs). I called Schmidt to get a quote for the redo. I knew it would be expensive on top of being out the money already wasted from the first job, but I needed the bathrooms done so I could start on the rest of the house remodel that was already planned (new floors, paint, etc). I called Schmidt and they scheduled time to come out, measure and see what they had to work with so they could quote the job. The man who came out was on time, polite and explained everything that would need done. I let him know I understood what would be involved and he did his thing and said he'd have a quote out to me within a few days.After a week+, I hadn't heard back, so I called and left a message on Schmidt's voicemail. After two more weeks of waiting for Schmidt's quote, I went with the other company that came out to quote the job. Thank goodness I did because Schmidt never called back. I had lost at least two weeks waiting on Schmidt and if I had waited any longer, that would also have been wasted time.I'm very pleased with the quality of work from the other company so it worked out well for me. You can look up my other reviews to see my review of them and pics of the finished product.I'm sure Schmidt's does good work, but potential customers need to be aware that if you don't hear back from them within the time frame they give when they are out measuring, it could be a lost cause to wait longer because you might not ever hear back, causing lost time.ETA: In response to the comment: Yes, it is the Schmidt's in Loveland, CO that I had the experience with. Pearl Wolf is my google account, not my name. The appt was under my real name. I do not recall the name of the man who came out to measure but the appointment was on April 26, 2021. When I called to check-in on the quote, I called the main business line and left a message. The voicemail had a female voice.

I have been to 3+ flooring stores and scoured the internet over the last couple weeks and I want to say that my experience at Schmidt's was hands down the best! The front desk lady has an eye for design (which I don't) and she really helped me find the right colors and best options for my flooring! She never pressured me or pushed for me to get a measure done before I was ready with a plan and style picked out. I came back multiple times to try different things (types of flooring, mainly) and she was equally friendly and helpful with each trip. 10/10! Amazing experience - Schmidt's is awesome and I really love their designer!

Exceptional experience! Schmidt Flooring provided a competitive bid, but what made them stand out was the attention to detail. Dave, the sales rep, spent time making sure our dark stained floors were the wood species we thought, as we were also adding wood to adjoining rooms. Three guys all named Shawn (!) and several others stripped, sanded, added wood, and stained many square feet while staying in communication with us. All the employees we met were friendly, upbeat, respectful, and obviously loved their job. We daily look at our beautiful floors and are thankful we chose a knowledgeable, quality company.

We had our entire main level finished with wood floors. David was fantastic and very patient as we looked at every sample of wood they had to offer! And while there was an issue with the manufacturer (not the fault of Schmidt's whatsoever) Barry worked hard to make it right and make sure we were happy with our floors. I had Schmidt replace a portion of, and refinish the remaining of my hardwood flooring, replace the floor in the laundry and replace our carpet in bedrooms and hallway. It was a pretty substantial undertaking for us but it was very easy doing business with them, from the project manager and designer, to the great guys who did the beautiful work. I really appreciated that, if I needed to talk to someone they responded immediately and really listened to what I had to say. I would highly recommend this company!Schmidt's recently refinished our hardwood floors and replaced all our carpet. The staff was very professional, courteous, and responsive.The hardwood looks better than it ever has. You would never know it wasn't brand new. I love my new floors and runner. Dave, Liz and Jill made the experience enjoyable. After I met with Dave at my home, I went to the showroom to look at wood and stain samples. This company did a fabulous job capturing stain color of my white oak 6" hardwood floors. The stain color I wanted didn't exist....so instead of me having to settle on a stain I didn't like; they created a custom stain just for me! As a designer; I use photos of my home as an extension of my business and EVERYONE constantly comments on my fabulous hardwood flooring. Schmidt's installers are true craftsmen and they take pride in their work as if they owned the company themselves. We had a few areas that needed to be addressed (which is normal with new construction) and Henry; one their managers, came out right away immediately; listened to our concerns, provided us with exceptional service and remedied the areas that needed some TLC. I have over 27 years experience working as a designer; managing projects with home builders and flooring contractors and I have never worked with a more exceptional flooring contractor as Schmidt Custom Floors. I would give them 10 stars if that was possible.

We hired Schmidt Custom Floors to install 1600 sf of 5-inch hickory throughout our house. To do this they removed existing engineered wood in the kitchen area and carpet everywhere else. All floor trim was carefully removed and reinstalled. The end result is truly exceptional and exceeded our expectations. Kevin, Dereck and Dalton completed this project on schedule in six days. They put in long days and cleaned up very thoroughly. Their attention to detail is amazing. This was the third time we have had hardwood installed in an existing home. Our experience with Schmidt’s was far and above the best. We could not be happier and we give Schmidt Custom Floors the highest possible recommendation.
