This place always has a great selection of used tanks and materials which I always look for. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable owner. Have been going for over 7 years now and have gotten a few of my long term pets from here. Highly recommend for people looking for captive breed snakes!

I got a crested gecko here about 4 years ago, he's been in perfect health and he's great about being handled and interacting with people. I also buy my feeder rodents here and their prices are pretty fair. The staff is always really helpful and knowledgeable, this place is great.

I just moved from Boulder to Denver and this Scales n Tails is now the closest one for me to grab feeders. I had to leave a review because I was super impressed by how clean and well housed all of the animals were!! All of them had appropriate substrate, hides, and more clutter than I’ve seen at any pet store. Super impressed, as it’s not easy keeping that many enclosures in such good shape.Service grabbing my feeders was quick and super helpful, even when I needed help with sizing because they do it a little differently than my previous shop.

Love this place. They're very knowledgeable, helpful and have many interesting pet options. Love that they have a variety of bugs to feed our reptile. Prices are great too!Also they have Jumping Spiders and Praying Mantis for sale too. So cool!

Always nice and very helpful. Maybe not as knowledgeable as could be for a couple of them they are also new people. Just wanted to add this. From the moment you walk in to one of these stores . You are greeted by a friendly employee that ask if they can help you and they check back up on you to see any questions you may have. The customer service is definitely top notch.

My daughter (16) has been wanting a snake for years. Recently, she had decided it was time. Thankfully, I've known she was ready for a long time! We circled the store a few times, looking at all the cool things without fur....ew, except maybe the spiders!I loved that employees were happy to answer questions and let us hold snakes. There was also a younger boy in here at the time, having a blast holding a variety of creatures. If you haven't heard a boy run down an aisle saying, "he pooped on me!" have you really ever even been to a petstore??Great store. We bought our snake and gear from here and would absolutely recommend them.Miraak is a very beautiful and sweet pastel ball python.

If you need anything reptile related this is the best place to go. If you need anything from a reptile enclosure for the reptile or food the guys there will definitely help you out. I have bought in numerous reptiles from them all with 100% health never any issues. I also buy feeders for my reptiles from them regularly so I know the guys there pretty well everyone has a great personality. It is honestly one of the highlights of my week is going in there and just chatting for a second. If I ever have any questions they are who I go to right away great people I would recommend them to anybody.

Got this guy from scales and tails! He was barely the length of my finger and a few months later hes a healthy big guy. They answered all my questions about care and I get all my feeders from this location. Great place.

Came here to look for an aquarium cooler for our axolotls, observed that they are keeping their axolotls in shoeboxes of dirty water with three to a shoebox. Half of them have forward curling gills and look to be on the verge of death. Seriously inappropriate and abusive.

I believe the guy who helped me was named Tyler and I just have to say that thanks to him and Scales n Tails my dumpy tree frogs are extremely hoppy in their new enclosure. Will definitely be back for any reptilian needs

They have a wide range of reptiles, they have amphibians (some frogs), and they have insects (prying mantises, cockroaches, and crickets), as well! They also have a wide range of supplies for each of the categories too. Would recommend!

I love this place!This company is ran like your local barber shop for the 60's!Go in, hang out, chew the fat and shoot the breeze.They helped me purchase my first tank and turtle, highly education and passionate about their animals health and well being.I've returned to purchase my first snake and they were very patient with my "Stupid questions"They allow their tortoise and iguanas roam free.With a full selection of pets available from snakes, fish, reptiles, spiders and food for all, this is the perfect 1 stop shop for all cage life animals.

Went into Scakes 'N Tails tonight to get my frog all set up and even more comfortable in his digs. I went in and Max helped me out. He was so knowledgeable with his craft. He got me all set up to go bioactive, thanks for helping me make the leap. I highly recommend this reptile store.

I've bought & sold reptiles here many times. Rich the owner sold me my wonderful male dumerils boa Odin back in 2011(Odin is now almost 16 yrs old), & last year I bought from Rich my female 'Persephone' dumerils boa (she's roughly 10+yrs old). I have gotten rats from scales n tails since 2011! Always good quality, staff has always been helpful & friendly. 🙏 Thank you!

These guys are absolutely fantastic. They are a WEALTH of information and they really know reptiles! They helped us figure out the best setup for our leopard gecko and then they showed my kid a snake eating a mouse. It was better than the zoo. Really friendly, really helpful, really knowledgeable staff who give great guidance on maintaining the happiest reptile possible.

This store is much cleaner and bigger than their Englewood location. The staff here is also super helpful and knowledgeable, helping my young children research potential pets. Staff made us feel valued and important. When we are ready to purchase, we will be back.

Every single time we’re here, the staff is nothing but incredibly sweet and helpful. We got a baby leopard gecko here a few weeks ago and he had a tough first couple of sheds— a tiny piece of skin got stuck in his eyelid and made him SUPER uncomfortable. Nothing we tried was getting it off. We called to see if they recommended any methods of removal or if we should take him to a vet and they said bring him on in and we’ll see what we can do. Not only did they help him (and save us A TON of money on a vet visit), they handled him super super gently, made helpful preventative recommendations, and showed us how to do it in the future. I WISH we got everyone’s names so we could thank them here properly. We won’t be going anywhere else!

This is by far the best reptile store in Colorado. Rich the owner is the nicest guy. Always helpful. The store is always very clean. The animals are always properly labeled, clean cages, full water bowls, well fed, and accurately priced. All of the staff is also super nice and knowledgable. Such a nice reptile store. Well kept, pretty clean, doesnt stink like animals like sime of the other stores. Great prices! Lots of great options!

I got my first snake here, a Kenyan sand boa that I named Krisssss Krissssstoferssson. This place has a great selection of reptiles you can take home and love, as well as keep certain people away from your home 😂 thanks dudes

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Back in August I contacted Tyler about a male Panther Chameleon. My family and I had been looking for one for months after researching them for a long time. Tyler told me that they had two females and one male. I placed the male on hold and went two days later to purchase "Him." I asked Tyler several times, since we were there for over an hour if he was positive that the chameleon was a male. Tyler told me that he guaranteed he was a male. We took "Him" home and fell in love with him. He's about 8 months old and no color... Many articles say that a male might not show color until a little over a year.... Then we saw one at Petco that was younger and had beautiful blue and green barring on it. Concerned we snapped multiple pictures of our little bundle of joy and contacted a chameleon breeder.. To our surprise he is a she. We suspected it a little while ago. She is beautiful but she is not a male. If you know anything about Panther Chameleons the males have loud beautiful colors. Females are much smaller and are a drab orange color. We attempted to contact Tyler immediately after getting the news. The employee who answered the phone asked what our call was in reference to. When my Husband told him he heard Tyler say, "Contact the owner." Well Tyler, aren't you the one who guaranteed us a male? So a few days later my Husband contacted the owner. He was useless.... He lied and said that it was only a $30.00 difference in price, it wasn't it was a little over $50.00. He said that we could return her, and get a male. No, she is like a dog when you open her cage she runs to come see you. Then he said, "Well if I was working that wouldn't have happened." Well "OWNER," maybe you should hire more competent people. Point of this rant is, I paid for and was guaranteed something that was wrong. If this was a stand up place he would offered to sell me a male at a reasonable price. Instead he blew us off. Well Scales N Tails, you lost our business amongst many others. We have a lot of friends that own reptiles and some that are getting into the joy of owning them. They know to steer clear of your shady establishment. If you want a good Reptile store go to Parker Exotics or Nature's Box.
