Employees are always great, the issue is with the check out lines. Every single day at the lunch hour and right after 5:00pm, there is one checkout line open. Every single day, there are 15+ people in that line, despite having signs that say if there are 3 or more people in a line, they will open another register; it rarely happens. Today was another one of those days, got all of the items I wanted, saw the line, and just left. It's crazy.

Friday January 12th, 10:15AM went in here to pick a few things up there were 10~ 15 people in line and the checker desperately celling for help! Finally after 3 calls someone in management came up Scott was his name and he was incredibly rude! He seemed incredibly annoyed that he had to come help customers. I know everyone has a bad day but he is this way nearly every time I’m in this store.

Food is excellent, most do the prices are acceptable or better. the bakery food is amazing and always has been options or dishes to keep some excitement about it. The stock is always full and things are always well kept and arranged appropriately. Only issue is we had pulled over in the parking lot on the way back from a rather long trip. The driver was exhausted, and I have no license as of recent so I wasn't an option to drive. The driver slept while I played on my phone, after he woke up I went in and purchased some Noosa yogurt, pleased with the types they had available, and a few drinks. And when I returned to vehicle we started to head out but the cops showed up. I guess they had called over our vehicle being there. Though odd they'd call after hours of him sleeping and after I went in to make a purchase. We talked to the cops, explained the situation. Let them run our names and we're on our way but it did leave a bit of distaste which is why there's only 3 stars in my rating. After sometime in sure I'll recant back to 4 but only time will tell.

The prices can be steep at times, but being a club member does offset the prices fairly well. Update: They are somewhat mixed on friendliness of the employees, some are helpful, some lack personality.

They have authentic Yirgacheffe Coffee (currently), but it's pricey.I recommend using the Safeway app to offset the high prices.Never enough clerks checking people out, so bring your own bags, and some patience. Everyone there is friendly and they have a decent selection

My cashier Sherry was fantastic as always and apologetic for the computer error with the register. We had to redo my order three times for it to get to the right total by no fault of her own. Past experience Safeway has more problems with their registers and their sales ads coinciding with one another frequently. Other than that I was very satisfied

Update: this place is a joke. I've shopped at Safeway/albertsons in different states since I was a child going back 50 years. I don't know if corporate has such disdain for rural towns or if its the local "management" that is beyond incompetent. Or both.I used to give this place, which I hate going into, but have because we don't have too may choices, the benefit of the doubt, but no more after yesterday.Around 3pm, there were two lanes open (that I could see). Each line had about a 45 minute wait. I don't know if management, for lack of a better term, was oblivious or didn't care or didn't know what to do. It's one of the 3.Self scanners would have solved at least some of the problems - since few people want to work around here anyway. I don't mind bagging my own food because at least I know enough not to put a bottle of juice on the bananas. For myself as well as some others, we had half full baskets of stuff that had to be abandoned. Who has time to wait around in a food line?. So disrespectful to customers. What a waste of my time, my gas - and I don't live around the corner. I live 30 minutes away!!!.Now at some point I will have to return to Safeway and buy that stuff that I didn't get yesterday, waisting more time, more gas, etc. I really despise giving $$ to this place. The locations in Pueblo and Pueblo West are such pleasures to shop at. I wish I lived closer to them.First review 2022:As Safeway goes this one is small, old and doesn't have a great selection compared with the one in Pueblo West. But its ok

Great customer service. A very clean store which is most important to me, even their bathrooms are clean. The prices are a little high, but if you join their Safeway member card. The prices are a lot lower, so make sure you sign up. And there's also this new app that's pretty cool but a little difficult to use sometimes. However, the app does give you free things and bigger discounts.

I shop their ads for bargains in meat and produce. I eat gluten free, and prefer non-processed foods. Safeway has a much better quality of produce and meat. I also purchase some of their kitchen baking/cooking aids which are geared towards the gourmet cook. Prices are a bit higher, so I shop the Safeway ad and savings from the app, freezing bargains. The app was changed recently, I can't use the app on my phone. Sometimes I spend an hour a week on the app clipping coupons and saving to the app on my Android tablet. I wish the app was more user friendly. The checkers will give me the digital coupon price if I ask, explaining the app doesn't work on my Android phone.

Was going to get deli meat. Went and looked and they had quite a bit to look at. We wanted a lb of turkey and a lb of roast beef. Now we live in LasAnimas and of course we had to go to Lajunta to get it. They had half of lbs of each made up and told us all they had was a half a lb and I was standing there looking at it. It does go to to show how rude and they dont care about there customers. I mean if you really didnt have it I could understand but here I was looking at it and you lost Safeway at least 10 dollars from our order. Sad how things are turning out.

Clean, well organized, and helpful people. Plus they stock some of the not as common items. Great spice selections, a pretty good variety of Asian condiments, and a great deli.

Store was being cleaned by employees. I don't blame the customers who stripped some of the shelves. It's overall a safe store to shop in and it usually has a fantastic meat department along with excellent produce. Store is now well stocked and has a great selection off baked goods, meats and vegetables.

Long lines unfortunately plague this store. Fortunately, they usually call "3's a crowd" rather quickly for back up cashiers. The prices are good when items are on sale, but otherwise a bit overpriced. The meat is the freshest in town. Most employees are helpful and nice. One guy is not always and can be grouchy, but thankfully he must be an assistant manager and is not typically helping people.

Overall great shopping experiences. I don't usually go in there in the late afternoons because of them running their cleaning machine. I get a migraine because of the fumes. Smells like a go cart. Other than that we usually have a great experience.

We always love going to Alpine Lodge! The food is always outstanding and the service impeccable. Today we experienced our first Mother's Day Brunch. Excellent as always! A little out of the way but in beautiful surroundings.

Only 1 check out open causes long waits. Bakery had bread out that had mold on it, makes you wonder how fresh their products are. Produce looked really good and the smell of the chicken at the deli was wonderful.

Everything was overpriced as if I were at a truck stop. Produce wasn't very fresh. Staff were not nice or helpful.

Been shopping at the La Junta location for a several years now. I really want to like it, I do. But there are just too many issues that make it inconvenient.I really like the breads in the bakery, they do a great job. And the store does offer quality products that aren't available at Walmart. The employees are friendly and the store is always clean. This is it though for positive qualities about the store. Before I continue, I wanna make it clear that I'm not trying to compare Safeway to Walmart. Its just that Walmart is the only other place in the area to buy groceries. I understand that Walmart can offer lower prices because its Walmart. However...The difference in price on many products available in both stores is pretty significant. In literally every comparison I've done, its Safeway with a price tag that doesn't make any sense. As an example, a 32 bottle of Heinz organic ketchup is 5.34 at Walmart. The exact same bottle is $7.49 at Safeway. That is over $2 more for the exact same product. If I needed a bottle of ketchup, this price difference alone covers the cost of gasoline to drive to Walmart to get it instead.I could make a pretty big list of price comparisons with similar results. There is no reason though for a bottle of ketchup to cost $7. None.Price is big deal. This store isn't even trying to be competitive.----I can't recall a single time I've walked to Safeway and seen an employee at the service counter. On dozens of occasions, I've waited, usually with other customers who are also waiting, 10 minutes or more for someone to show. There is no bell to ring for service and no one keeping an eye on it. The service counter is in plain view of the cash registers and the cashiers who can clearly see customers waiting, won't use their mic to ask someone to help customers that are waiting. If this was an issue of staffing due to Covid, I would be more understanding but I've been coming to Safeway since long before Covid started and this has always been a problem. This is easy to fix. Place a bell or some sort of signaling device at the counter so people who want need assistance at the service counter can get it in a timely manner.---This is just a complaint and maybe its no big deal, but the employees stocking shelves in the morning could spend less time hanging out and talking, and more time stocking shelves. Maybe this would bring the prices down a bit.---I feel like the store tries to maintain an image of having better produce that what typical stores might have. But its just for show. The produce area is clean for the most part. But in the summer there is frequently flies landing on everything. Hundreds of flies. Again, I don't wanna compare to Walmart but I don't see flies when I go there. Maybe this is because the produce is beyond what might be considered fresh, with the exception of the bananas. I've frequently seen tomatoes with the skins wrinkling, a sure sign that they need to go. An easy fix if the employees keep an eye on it.---Regarding Covid:The hand sanitizer dispenser just inside the entrance is always empty and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been filled in months. I keep my own in the car but this is just irresponsible. Its such a small thing that can make a difference and every business that has customer traffic should be concerned enough to have it available. Killing germs helps prevent the spread of illness. I feel silly having to bring this up but the fact that the dispenser isn't getting filled show that Safeway doesn't care about their employees or customers. Fill the damn bottles and provide wipes to clean the carts where customers put their hands when using them.

Safeway has always been my choice for shopping for groceries. Safeway has always (in my lifetime) been the place to shop for quality meats and fresh vegetables, with reasonable pricing. Safeway provides everything you will need to make the best dishes, also staff is friendly, and very helpful.

Check expiration dates on everything. Most things sold here are expired or rotten. Precut fruits are either too ripe or not ripe and generally a waste of money. Inspect everything well before purchasing. Shopping here is like dumpster diving, except you pay full price for it. I'd almost say dumpster diving is safer than shopping here. In other towns Safeway is great, in this town though, its a huge disappointment and embarrassment to the stores name.Update: I've seen less expired items on the shelves and more clearance tags for almost expired items, so it appears there is some improvement!! The produce dept has been more on top of removing rotted items. I've had to return just a few things since this review, like meat. The expiration date printed looks ok but some of the items have had a fowl odor. So just be really careful. The returns are handled professionally and I've never had an issue getting an exchange or money returned.

I have NEVER been a fan of Safeway, but this particular Safeway is AWESOME!!! Have never had a bad experience here at this store, and all the employees are great! We live in a small town of about 7,800 people, and your only choices are Safeway and Walmart, and the Walmart here is a PATHETIC joke!!! Always out of everything, so why bother? I can always find everything we need at Safeway!

Staff is wonderful! More than wonderful. The floors are terrible, the coolers don't work and the place is dirty. No sign by the door about masks. But, its the best in town and the staff is great so I keep shopping there.

Great small town grocery store. It's clean, well stocked and all of the employees are friendly and super helpful...especially at the deli, those guys are always quick to tell you if something in the deli case has been sitting for awhile and isn't so fresh and they'll suggest something else or make a fresh batch of it's feasible. Great store, love shopping there.
