I absolutely loved my experience at Wild Animal Sanctuary - it is a well designed and maintained place that is crucial for educating the public on the plight of exotic animals. It's a little hard to read about all the incredible stupidity that exists in mankind when it comes to the acquisition of large exotic animals & what kind of abuse they endure & suffer when improperly cared for. W.A.S provides a place of rest for them in natural surroundings without being prodded to perform. The area where all the lion prides meet is quite stunning and there is plenty of close up lion interaction to observe. We were very lucky to be visiting during the late afternoon in the summer after a cooling thunderstorm had rolled through. All the big cats were out as well as the bears, foxes etc. Quite a lineup! It's well worth the price & the staff is top notch.

Plan to take a look at wild animals that have been rescued and are now safe. The habitats are large and animal friendly. You walk above the enclosures and can rent a motorized chair if needed. This venue is informative and inspirational. Donations have enabled it to expand from the humble roots of its beginning.

Worth the trip and the different animals. They have a sky walk way over the animals. Get to learn about the animals and where they came from and the rehabilitation center. A lot better then a zoo. They have a lot more room. There a gift shop and few places to rest. They got this really cool animal statues around the place when you first get there.

Such a great experience. You walk right above the animals on a 3mile bridge! The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable they can tell you stories of where animals came from how long they are kept in rehabilitation. Such a nice adventure for the kids. We visited in October and it was very windy on our walk out and back to the entrance. They have an awesome welcome area with gifts shop, food and ice cream!

Prices are decent and it's a nice break after the long walk. Just outside is an information center for kids and around are small enclosures for newer animals (mostly the less social tigers and mountain lions) who are getting used to their new environment. The ice cream shop itself has cold drinks, chips, candy bars, caramel popcorn, and some delicious ice cream treats.

This truly is an amazing experience. When they say plan 3 to 4 hours they aren't kidding. The walkway is a mile and a half one way and you are able to see many species of wild animals. The Tiger integration Center is at the end of the mile and a half and is fascinating! The staff here are helpful and friendly. This is a great place for kids and for a leisurely walk. Plan on it being windy and often on the chilly side. It was well worth the $30.

Very educational, animals all looked so content and with very enriching habitats. I loved that it's about the animals not the people. Make sure to take some water and a sun protector, like a cap! Great experience. Not the best place for small kids, since its not very exciting if the animals are sleeping and very far away. Make sure to go when the open, most of the animals are awake and you get to see the lions run for their breakfast!

Love this place! They do such good work and take great care to ensure their animals are happy and stress free. It doesn't have all of the close up excitement of the zoo, but that's the point. Please go and support a really great group doing amazing work!

What a awesome place to spend the day. The volunteers are just so nice and knowledgeable! Ask em anything and they have a answer for you. The areas where they keep the different animals are so clean and kept up. The Lions and tigers and bears (oh my) are so we'll taken care of. All the animals looked so happy and healthy. I can not express how great my experience was here. How often do we have a PERFECT day? My whole experience here was just perfect. If you haven't been GO, take the kids. Tell your friends. TWAS is so much better than the Zoo. TWAS is magical it would be sad if you missed this special place!

Tasty ice cream, and they're not stingy about the scoop size. Great place to relax after the long and exciting walk!

They have really expanded since I was there last a few years ago. Our tour guide Kent was very knowledgeable about the history of the various animals throughout the sanctuary. Had lots of fun with my sisters who went there for the first time today and they loved it!

This sanctuary is INCREDIBLE. And the cause behind it is even more beautiful. Not a zoo experience at all but you get to see the rescued residents in a much more relaxed and natural habitat. Fully support this mission and awareness behind this place and the people who work hard to keep it going!

My family and I met a volunteer there. His name is Jim. He's been there for about 3 years. He was very informative and friendly and he was sharing stories about all the animals that were rescued .In return I decide to buy him lunch. it was a really pleasant visit but I highly recommend that you do not go in the heat of the day because all the wonderful creatures there are hiding out because of the Heat. It's best to go there a couple of hours before sundown or probably early in the morning you should be fine it was pretty hot What they are doing there is for great cause.

Awesome place ! Much better than a zoo. It's good to know that with our entrance fees or animal sponsorship ( best deal) one is helping animals in need, and they can have lots of space to roam. The high walkway is an expectacular way to see the animals and experience the weather. Highly recommended.

I am very impressed with the Sanctuary. I have been out to visit this place 3 times in a year. I live to take pictures and the scenery is just beautiful. Last latest visit I felt very lucky because the wolves began howling. With just one wolf eagerly howling at first then soon after all joined in. The staff was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. I highly recommend visiting, you can make a difference in the lives of these animals, and they will make a difference in your life as well.

This place is amazing! Over 700 acres of rescued animals being brought back to health and able to roam in specially-created habitats. See lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!!) plus wolves, foxes, alpacas, jaguars, cheetahs, linx, a camel, and even an ostrich or two! Great for kids, teens, and adults of all ages! The mile-long overhead walkway allows visitors to view many of the animals and take pictures without disturbing and stressing the animals below. These animals have been rescued from many places within North and South America, and this is the largest sanctuary of its kind in the world! And here it is in our own back yard in Colorado! Well worth the trip to see it.

So keep in mind that the purpose of the wild animal sanctuary is to give animals which had been in captivity a good place to live out their lives. It's very well done and a noble purpose. There is a lot to see. We spent 3+ hours and could have spent another hour

Great way to see magnificent animals in a more natural surrounding. Staff extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Signage a little dated, but a very enjoyable couple hours stroll. Tiger roundhouse was spectacular of you like them!

Absolutely loved it! The animals may not be incredibly close to the walkway, but you will hear the sad stories of each animal and the wonderful rehabilitation. Fabulous experience...my husband and I flew from NC to visit.

Loved this place. Great educational guides, lots of animals in a natural setting. Beautiful facility, knowledagable volunteers. The raised walkway is one of a kind. Must see. Don't forget to bring a little extra to donate.

The staff here is amazingly friendly and dedicated not only to serving customers but to helping the animals living within the sanctuary bounds. Of course any visit to this facility would not be complete without a stroll along the catwalk to look at the, well, cats. Big ones! And many other critters too.

What an amazing Sanctuary for lions, tigers and bears (and lots more). The dedication for those people who started it in 1980!!With over 400 animals they are running out of space and have purchased 9000 acres in southern Colorado only for more animals.I am so proud of their efforts

Second visit. This is a must due if you enjoy walking and have a soft spot for animals. Plan on 3 or 4 hours. Pack a snack and enjoy your time on the walkway. We arrived early to beat the heat and active visitors.

Amazing non profit that rescues abused, captive, large carnivores. Beautiful impressive creatures who are then treated with the dignity they deserve, in a setting allowing them to live comfortably. I think this should be one of the top tourist destinations in Colorado.

We have been to the Denver Zoo many times, happened to come across this jem and decided to become an active donor. The animals all looked happy and healthy. Will definitely be coming back to visit them again.
