I had high hopes for this store. It was a cute little shop that had a great selection. Well I bought a bunch of fish from them in one swoop and within the first 3 days, 4 died. They tested my water, it was perfect. They gave me new fish. In the next 2 days after that, I noticed more of the fish had some type of growth on their bodies that was spreading fast. (Now mind you my tank is very well established. I have neon tetras that are healthy and happy). I had 6 more die over the weekend. I brought back the dead fish with a water sample. They said my water was fine, again. So they gave me store credit for the dead fish which was used for a medicine they recommended. I treated the tank with what they recommended. The next day another died and a new one had that growth developing. When I went back they had a sign on the door ‘No freshwater fish for sale today’ (could be irrelevant but was a little odd) They tested my water again. Came back good. Tested the fish, they said they don’t see anything. I took pictures and videos of the sick fish in my tank and showed them. They said they don’t see anything wrong but I could try a different medicine and to not use the first medicine they gave me. So I tried the new medicine. Seemed good the first day and this morning I had another fish die. All fish they sold me are dropping like flies. It’s really upsetting that their warranty on the fish is 5 days with good water parameters, which I had, and they still treated me like I was doing something wrong to the fish. ALL THE OTHER FISH IN MY TANK ARE HEALTHY! I just hope the rest don’t die off. With correct parameters and all my other fish still alive it’s weird these ones died off within a week***UPDATE***The fish have Camallanus Worms. First sign of these is white patches on the body of the fish. Which is exactly what I was trying to show the employees when they kept saying they didn’t see anything wrong. The worms have now spread to my neons. Half the fish I bought are gone and now I’m losing the fish I’ve had for a year. [Added a picture of the worm coming out of my neon. Near his butt].I can also see two female threadfins with worms inside of them still.

I have been coming here since 2016 and have always thought they had the better plant selection and fresh water fish selection. The customer service isn't always the best, as I don't always feel welcomed, depending on who you get though. However, the questions they ask about the tank I always appreciate because I want to make sure I am keeping a healthy and happy tank. I think a lot of people in the other reviews might take it wrong/not know how to take constructive criticism. I was here recently and got advice on how to care for a specific fish, as I am rebuilding one of my tanks. They helped me understand what temps, parameters and plants do best for this fish. I am excited to go back and get my fish friends!

Large variety of live fish and products. They take time to quarantine/hold their fish which I greatly appreciate. Great plant prices! Staff is very knowledgeable but sometimes can be a little pushy about making sure your setup is adequate for the fish. I definitely appreciate a quality fish store!

I’ve been coming to this store for about 2 years and it’s my favorite spot in the South Denver Metro area. Everyone is very knowledgeable and is willing to help, though I’d go on a weekday. The weekends are very busy and crowded. I appreciate that they do 7+ days of quarantine they use conditioned tap water. I have a better chance of the fish succeeding. I haven’t had any issues with any of our freshwater fish or plants.

This place is fantastic. The staff is super knowledgeable. They've made recommendations or had tips about fish that I hadn't learned my previous 40 years of having a FW tank. Really a terrific shop!

Awesome store with great selection. The prices are a little higher than petsmart or petco, but the quality of fish and service makes the price difference well worth it. They also have a nice assortment of healthy plants. I always try to support local business, and I am very happy to shop here. I also hope they find the person that stole their bird. Stealing a 30 year old pet is a dirt bag move, and I hope they get what they have coming to them.

Horrible customer service. Had to ask for assistance while multiple employees congregated. Was interrogated when indicated which fish I was interested in purchasing. Was told my setup was insufficient. I was dumbfounded.I have researched and built my ecosystem with the assistance of another local store. It’s definitely sufficient and is established. The time, care and knowledge provided by Keepin It Reef in Littleton blew Neptune’s out of the water…so to speak. I will never spend a dime in Neptune’s. The experience should be enjoyable, supportive and educational…NOT degrading.

Great selection of fish, invertebrates, and plants. Staff are hit and miss as on several occasions when I was there people would legit just walk out the back or play on their phone while you are looking right at them. That being said, that is just a few people and I go there for the tank items not conversation:) .

Excellent service and advice. I bought a Fluval 32.5 tank and stand, then returned to buy substrate, plants and rocks. Sharon and her team were very attentive and gave great advice. Neptune's is the best!

This is the best store for fish in the area with fresh and salt water options. I don't always feel super welcome here for some reason but they have good fish and I like to be left alone anyway until I am ready to pull the trigger.

On a whim decided to stop in Neptune's on my way home from work. When I stopped in it was much busier than I expected it to be and every customer was actively being helped by a staff member!As soon as a member finished with their customer I was greeted and made to feel very welcome in the store. I think I ended up interacting with every staff member there asking noob question after question about how to set up a fresh water garden tank. Not a single time did any staff member treat me as if I was a burden or as if the questions I had were dumb.After much research I discovered that Neptune's had the most comprehensive and best priced 10 Gal start up kit! All the fish looked healthy, tanks were all clean, all the plants were bright and lively, store was clean and well stocked. Even all the Betta fish looked happy! I will be returning to purchase the start up kit, plants, snails and Betta.Bonus - the day I stopped in it was an all female staff, which I have not experienced in these types of shops before and was pleasantly surprised by.

We have bought red ember tetras, bettas, snails, and guppies. Nice healthy fish. We also bought decorations and live plants, as well fish food, water conditioner, seed, etc. Would recommend. Have an amazing day! ✌️

Great store, kinda some arrogance though with some people there but you can't beat the selection and variety, there literally is not another store like it, there's a reason they've been in business as long as they have been. Have been coming there now over 3 years

Great store, not so great customer service. This afternoon was the fourth time I've been left waiting for 15 minutes or more for help. I eventually asked an employee to help me, he said he would be there after ringing up a woman at the register. Ten minutes later, he was still chatting with her and laughing. Finally, he came to help SOMEONE ELSE and started talking and laughing with them too.Its a shame, because the selection of fish is fantastic, but I'm going somewhere else from now on.

My 5 star is for saltwater. Saltwater is wonderful. The fish are quarantined before becoming available to purchase. Though I would personally perfer altered selection via each order we tend to get the same stuff each time. Which is fine but trying new things is way better then repeatition. The living critters are all treated with care. The corals are beautiful. The saltwater manager Justin is absolutely amazing at what he does. He puts his all into it.

I have gone to Neptune’s for years, and now I hate going. The staff is rude to the core, and they hate helping customers. They belittle you with their bad attitudes. Also, be prepared to be grilled about your tanks and told no to almost every fish in the store or that there is something wrong with the size of your tank. All the fish you want are not for sale. All their colony corals are not for sale, so you are left to buy the ugly frags. I will pass on going here again; instead, try MC Aquatics for fish and Aqua Culture for coral and fish. Neptune’s is literally the worst fish store in Colorado. I will never go back. Someone needs to remind Neptune’s that the consumer is there to buy their product, not to be lectured about what they think is correct fish etiquette because the consumer is always right!

Giving only 4 stars because I have yet to purchase fish here only supplies this far. I've been here twice now and each time it's been crazy busy and/or 10mins before closing and both times I had great customer service and the one time I had to bring my little demon children they were laid back and understanding about having to answer my questions while also follow me chase me kids. Prices on most things are very reasonable some things are a bit higher. I do love how upfront they are about what meds they quarantine with and how long fish get quarantined for. Sad to see others have had bad experiences with customer service and sometimes fish but in my two visits I've never had an issue.. besides how early they close haha.

I bought Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus Fluitans). It was in cup but since I put into my shrimp tank, a lot of pest snails appeared in my tank! Even planaria!!!! Neptune's Tropical Fish has good variety of plants, and tropical fish but I was disappointed this time.

Be prepared with your answers because they'll grill you on every little tank detail. Mind you, I have 5 tanks and plenty of fish. You're better off saving yourself the drive from denver and Bombardment. Go buy anywhere online. In fact, aquarium fish sale is cheaper better yet petco is cheaper and easier to shop at🤷♂️

I’ve done business with Neptunes for years, but my recent experience will be the last. With three employees working in the store and myself being the sole customer I couldn’t get a single one of them to provide me with even the slightest inclination of customer service, and then once I manage to actually get one of their attention long enough to ask a question he answered it while walking away. I would say I received bad customer service, but in truth, I didn’t receive any at all. They acted like whatever maintenance tasks they were working on were more important than taking care of the only customer in the building.

Original review: I’ve been going to Neptune’s since I was 4 years old, and unfortunately I won’t be coming back after today’s experience. Completely rude and interruptive know it all staff member with a gate keeping problem. I’m an extremely experienced fish keeper who also happens to run the largest local fishkeeping Facebook page, “Freshwater fish keepers of Colorado” and I was treated like an idiot. Made me walk right out. For anyone else who had a bad experience feel free to join my community on Facebook to find a better suited store for you.Update: I decided to give Neptunes another shot hoping my last experience was just a fluke. Very happy to say this time was an amazing experience. Helpful staff only asked a couple of well selected questions about the fish I selected, and everything went smooth. I’m glad I gave them a second chance and I will be back in the future.

I was not trying to buy fish since I live 700 miles from this store. Somehow though I get the bright idea I really want this albino auratus. Me and the store clerk start talking and figure might as well give it a shot. He preps fish and grabs a bubbler for the overnight at hotel. 24 hrs after purchasing I get home and they still look fine. 3 days later and they are thriving. Staff was good for me. I will go back when I'm in Denver.

Neptune's Tropical FishTo everyone in Colorado!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE !!!!!! I go in to purchase fish, mind you it was my first time checking the store out and driving almost an hour and I pick two fish that I liked and the employee told me he couldn’t grab the ones I picked and he would only get me the ones he scooped up first time, and I told him I would pass. That was super Bad business. I didn’t want the fish he picked, I wanted the ones I liked and the color I didn’t have In my tank. If I wanted someone to pick out my fish I would just order online, to me I think the whole reason of going into a fish store is to be able to pick the fish you want. What do you guys think? Am I over reacting or would you think the same.
