Large selection of outdoor gear and clothing, if you can't find an item they will you order it for you. Very helpful and super nice staff. It would be great if they had a small coffee shop.

While Christmas shopping at this store I picked up pants as a gift. Yesterday, I found it was torn!!! The store does not check its inventory to ensure that their products are not trash. It is very upsetting and I feel like I was robbed! The return policy does not permit a consumer to get their money back. I am 7 hours one way from Grand Junction to walk back into the store with the pant. It’s better to go to a store that does not sell you damaged items or trash!

Update:We still love goung here. First mountain bike purchase built here and they did a great job. Great about adjusting prices for defects and making sure we are happy with the purchase. Also, returns for a year for members is awesome.Original:REI definitely is an awesome place to go. Love the vibe and all the gear. However, everything is super pricey (to be fair, they sell nice stuff), but even the used sections are very expensive, which makes it hard for a family to shop there.

I attempted to take a pair of Darn Tough socks back that are guaranteed for life. The store manager (maybe assistamt manager) was snarky and not helpful. He said the sock's hole was normal wear and tear and not allowed under the one year policy. The sock is guranteed for life, and I had it three months. How is this normal wear and tear? I called REI's customer service number and they agreed and refunded me my socks. The store manager was rude and condescending during the whole process and did not follow REI,s one year return policy.

REI always has what I need. I love pulling up to a town that had one. It's usually one of the first places I head to for our outdoor needs. I will continue to shop at rei for many years.

During the covid-19 pandemic, I entered the store without a mask. The store manager confronted me and directed me to leave the store unless I put on a mask . Otherwise, he said he'd "call for police assistance and charge me with trespassing." I explained that I had been released from St. Mary's Hospital where I had heart ablation surgery one week earlier; I explained that my surgery wouldn't have been performed if I carried the SARS-CoV-2 virus. I also showed him my CDC-issued "COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card." He again ordered me to leave the store; so I left....permanently. I'm writing this now, two years after the incident, because I can't seem to turn-off REI's solicitations even after mailing-in my torn-up membership card on the day of the adverse encounter. I had been a member for thirty-three years!

The associates were SO helpful! Shout out to Riley and Dave and Ward (I think that was his name? He had funny jokes) for looking around the store for 30 mins to help us find what we needed, you guys are the best!

We were in the store today and the bag my daughter wanted didn’t have a tag, the one she wanted was the only one like that and was a bit damaged. We wanted to know if there was another one elsewhere. The super friendly man at the register maned Ward was amazing. He was so friendly and made it his own personal mission to help us, he even told us jokes while he worked on a solution. Thank you award for making our day at REI!

Garage sale is the best time to show up! Good selection of camping gear, return options if you don’t like what you’ve purchased are best around.

March 4, 2022. Sariah at checkout and Heather, Sales Manager, helped me with lightweight hiking shoes that I had to return. The tags were still on & I had never worn them due to foot surgery. My return was right on the edge of the return period. Both associates were very helpful in explaining my options and reaching an satisfactory accommodation. Excellent customer service such as this is one of the main reasons that I am a member and shop at REI.

Very friendly and knowledgable staff. I had made a hiking pack purchase online and had to return it as it was not the size I needed. The girl at the register who processed my return was very friendly and courteous. While looking to replace my item, Nathan was very helpful in giving me other options and suggestions. He was able to find me just what I needed. Great customer service!

I always like shopping here especially going through the returns or sales. Left with a pair of $300 Asolo boots for $101! Staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable about the products. First class store imho.

Excellent service! The gentleman in camping was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He spent about an hour just educating me about backpacks and what to look for. Also set two of them up with 20 lbs añd let me try them out throughout the store. Without question I joined the Co-op!

Friendly and helpful staff. Great sale today!I was bummed by the dearth of cycling clothing at this time of the year. Managed to find some stuff that'll work, but options would have been nice.

I received a gift card for this store. I wish I did not have to shop at the store, but had no other choice. The other reviewers here are correct. They are over the top on the mask thing. I am fully vaccinated, yet was forced to put on a mask. Fine, I put it on. Very quickly, I was surrounded by at least 5 employees - 2 managers. They told me I had to put on their mask. I asked why they were all around me if they were so afraid of COVID. Some of them scurried off. The only way to get service to use my gift card for shoes, was to sit outside in a chair to try on shoes. They have permanently lost a customer.

The employees here are super helpful and knowledgeable. If they don't personally share your hobby, they'll find someone who does and has probably used exactly what you're shopping for. They are also very accommodating to my disability needs.

Very awkward, coming from vail and asked about everything I was buying and why...like do I need to explain why and how I'm going to use everything? I did not like my experience and will probably never come here again because of it. Customer service should be somewhat genuine, not forced and awkward.

Great store! It may be smaller than other REIs but it has what I need and staff are very helpful. One woman was able to give me excellent backpack choices for a long hike I have next year. I will definitely keep going back there!

Super wonderful and knowledgeable staff! Got great new insight, shared cool stories with Nathan and ended up with a new sleeping bag I'm excited to try out! Ward helped me figure out a compact, easy-to-use coffee system; we took the parts out to figure just how to use it, and chatted about the importance of lessening our plastic use. Super great conversations and very friendly folks at the front door and checkout! Love visiting from Gunnison whenever I can!

My go to spot for all things outdoors. Everyone is always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Zero complaints besides wishing that our yard sale section was bigger!

The ski shop at this store is a joke. I was told on the phone that they have a 24-48 hour turn around on mountains bingings to my skis. Once I got to the store, they told me they were 5 days out. Horrible customer service, I will not be taking any of my gear to an REI again. Very disappointed!!

Update:This was shortly after they moved locations and were in disarray. The store is great now. The dressing room situation was remedied. I do really like REI.I like what they have, as the styles are cute as functional for all my outdoor needs, but having only one dressing room is troublesome. I had to leave as put back my 8 items totaling about 400 if I had been able to try them on I would have bought something I'm sure. Hopefully the dressing room situation is figured out soon.

This store is literally one of the best. We have purchased items from here throughout the years living in GJ and the staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. Emerson, in the bike area was very helpful when we got our kids bike and answered all our questions. 10/10 would recommend anyone to go here. Great having this store in GJ.

Bottom line: Great store if you love the outdoors and being harassed. Wouldn't recommend to a friend or neighbor.I've had some really good experiences at this store. However, I cannot shop here any longer due to the hyper aggressive mask enforcement policy. To be sure, I try to be respectful of businesses, and wear a mask whenever required. This particular store takes mask wearing to an embarrassing and unnecessary extreme. (This seems so odd because the place is staffed and patronized largely by the healthiest people I've ever seen.)Last time I was in the store was over a month ago. I was looking at shorts, when a scraggly redhead fellow in a different department crossed the store to tell me to pull my mask up over my nose (ironically putting us both at greater risk of infection). I left immediately and swore not to return.Recently I was in the store again for the first time since, because I love the place and didn't want to give up on it so easily. I entered the store and wore my mask well over my nose to avoid confrontation. I found a pair of shoes I liked from the clearance rack and I would have bought them... had the tall fellow passing by not stopped and crouched down to tell me to pull my mask up - which had slipped just below the tip of my nose as I bent over from the bench to tie my boots. The recurrence of this uncomfortable event - in spite of my direct and conscious attempt to avoid it - has strengthened (if not completely solidified) my resolution to spend my money anywhere but here.I will not shop somewhere I know I'll be harassed by employees for how I wear a mask when I can go to any other outdoor supplier in town and shop in peace.PEACE!

Beware all of you REI customers! This independently owned company has taken mask wearing policies to the next inappropriate level, even breaking the Americans with disabilities act over and over again! Not only do they require you to wear a mask, as you will see below, they require you to wear it up to the eye bone and below the chin. This is so you can go into their overly priced store and be treated horribly by their staff. After speaking with their headquarters, it is up to the discretion of their employees to decide how you should be wearing your mask. I was in the Grand Junction store on 10/1/20. The employees kept approaching me and telling me that my mask needed to be up more, even though my mask was already up to the top bridge of my nose. After asking to speak to a manager a gal by the name of Molly approached me and immediately stated that the REI mask requirement was that the mask, not only must cover the nose, but must go past the nose to the lower eye rim. When I asked her for the corporate number she stated that I could get it online and that REI was independently owned and had the right to make you wear your mask up to the eye rim or any other way. I told her that I was going to contact the corporate office and proceeded to leave. Molly then followed me out of the store yelling at me, stating that she had also decided that I was no longer allowed back into the store. I then contacted their corporate office and I was then told that the employees do have the right to make you were your mask as high or low as they would like if they feel it would protect them more, even if it’s up to your eyeballs! This all explains why there are never any cars or people in this store! There are so many other retailers that sell the same stuff, at a lower price and with friendly staff. Why waste your time with such a company as REI!
