This boarder is just okay. Probably the most affordable option which is great not to have to pay $70+/night closer to Denver but you get what you pay for. It seems like the dogs are pretty much kept in their small kennel runs for the duration of your stay. My dog’s smart collar recorded only 50 steps a day up to 200 when you pay extra for a walk/play time…what do they just get to walk around the building once???Probably fine for short stays but anything longer than a week I would suggest taking your dog to a kennel that has an outdoor play area for the sake of their health.

Very disappointed and frustrated. I had a phone and in person visit at Sage Valley to view their facility. I clearly explained my dogs special needs and was told that there was no problem and that they have many dogs that board with them with the same needs. My dog is deaf and has had like 2 seizures more than a year apart. So very unlikely that she would have one while in their care. I booked my dog for a week and was relieved that I could go on vacation without worry. Now with only 2 months until our trip I received a call saying that they could not accept her due to her being blind and deaf. She is not blind but has low vision after a seizure that is highly unlikely which was clearly communicated with staff.Their staff must lack communication as we were written in and booked. Now I am left very stressed to find alternative accommodations for my very special pet. Do better Sage Valley.

I wanted to give a shout out to Thalia. I’ve been bringing my Aussie here for about a year now. Every time she gets groomed she looks better than the last! She takes great care of my sweet girl. I highly recommend Thalia!!

I have a doodle and have never been happier with the cut. My Breeder recommended the vet, and my vet recommended the groomer, she said no one was better. I was skeptical, but here we are! I am very happy and will be going to her as long as they are open. He even had a bunch of mats and I didn’t know what to do. She also said I could bring him by for a full body brushing to help, on a regular basis. How cool is that?!

There isn't a better kennel at any price. They have a spa too, I'm not sure if it's for boarders only or walk in day spa too. They are thorough and expert in care. The staff, led by Tom Allen, is compassionate and accommodating. Tom ran a rescue for years, so they are tuned in to loving care, and it shows. My dogs are big lovable labs and are happy to GO in there, liking it! That's a great sign!I always get bath and brush, full treatment the day I pick up and it's joy all around. In my next life I want to be a dog at Sage Valley.Edit: I just read a tough review where the lady apparently loved the staff and conditions because she visited, inspected, interviewed and lived it, for her sickly dog. I am empathetic for her great looking dog. But she marked them A 1 star review because the staff took her res. but later told her the case (sickness) is too complex. Kennels have the right to not take very tough cases, that are potentially going to take too many resources. They aren't a hospital. I had a preggo dog with imminent birth date that kennels wouldn't take. I understood. If staff says we'll book it and later an owner or risk manager decides it's too tough they called the lady way, way in advance to give her time. Seems she liked kennel, interviews, and care, but slams a one star review in spite (!) or retaliation(!)? Be fair lady, do better yourself.

We were excited to find a grooming/daycare/boarding place 5 mins from our house - and after our first grooming experience we are delighted! Our older doodle loves hiking, running, and camping, so he's often pretty dirty/matted. We normally don't expect much when we bring him from grooming other than a shave, but Thalia from Sage Valley gave him his cutest hairdo yet!Great, friendly service and very reasonable pricing. We'll be back!

Great prices compared to a lot of other places and pretty convenient location to the golden and Arvada areas, but the hours are a bit tricky since they close at 4, which is on the earlier side for most places. Pickup and drop off are easy and the staff is friendly and loves pets. If the locations and hours are convenient for you it’s a great option to keep your dog entertained for the day.

This is a great place for our "Honey". She stayed there for a week when we went on a vacation and they took really great care of her. Spent time with her on a daily basis (play time, personal attention). They are very reasonable and have a FANTASTIC groomer who takes a real interest in her four-legged clients.

I do not like posting negative reviews but felt in this case it was necessary. I recently used Sage Valley Pet Center for the first time on 54th Avenue in Golden and was extremely disappointed after my pets' stay.My husband and I both met with the owner Laura whom I really liked and felt comfortable with as well as liking the facilities themselves. I later met Katie (the kennel manager) when I dropped my dogs off. I gave explicit instructions that during their scheduled grooming to be very careful with my beagle who has extremely soft nails and she may not need them cut and to be careful of her quick which will bleed easily. She advised me she would tell the groomer. As I was coming back into town to pick up the dogs, it was right before the first spring snow storm so I contacted them to see if any way possible to pick the dogs up outside of the normal hours of closing which is 4 pm (hours are reduced due to COVID but I was told the owners were on site and I would be able to arrive before 6 PM which is their pre-covid hours). Now I live at almost 9,000 ft so the amount of snow we got in the storm was much more than in town (12"+) so that was the only reason I asked for an exception otherwise I would not have. I called and spoke to Katie and asked if possible, to pick them up and Katie said she would ask and let me know. After not receiving a call back, I called a second time right before I was about to board my flight. Katie was very short and rude with me. She seemed to lack any empathy or interpersonal skills (she is not the person I would put with clients..especially a new client!). And look, I get it...its outside the COVID reduced pick-up time but still I was left with a bad feeling after hanging up the phone. The next morning, I called early to see if I could pick up my two dogs. I was asked what time did I want to come and I had to explain they had been scheduled for a grooming that morning (I didn’t want to cancel and cost the groomer lost income), so if possible, they could still the service as long as early enough that I could get them before the snow got worse (otherwise, I would just come get them immediately). Again, the conversation was with Katie and she was short but she did get back to me within 30 minutes and say they would be groomed early and I could pick them up.When I arrived, my dogs seemed very eager to leave..moreso then I have ever seen them before at any other boarding facility (literally pulling to get out the door). Katie was short again and I felt like I was being pushed out the door myself with no chance to ask any questions about how they did, etc. I drove straight home. As soon as we got inside, I noticed my beagle's nails had been clipped down to the quick and she was bleeding all over my floors for at least 30-45 minutes (I had to sit with pressure and corn starch to get it to quit). I called the facility immediately to let Katie know and she was again, unsympathetic and I felt like just wanted to get me off the telephone. All she said was pretty much "umm sorry I will tell the groomer". Later that same day, I noticed my beagle's tail was bent in the middle and appeared to have a break where it never has had a bend in it (perhaps she lifted by her tail? I don't know for sure). I didn't bother calling back to complain as I felt like it wouldn't make a difference and honestly, really didn’t want to speak with Katie. Now for additional background...my beagle was a rescue and had been abused and it’s taken us literally several years to get her to relax around people. For the next 10+ days, she acted scared and cowered down when I came near her. I am not sure what happened (and I do understand things can happen) but I believe it is the facility’s responsibility to let me know and ask for feedback after a dog's first stay (especially if they want repeat customers during this time of COVID when everyone complains about the negative impact to their business).I felt I needed to let others know that I do not feel comfortable leaving my fur babies with this facility.

I have been thinking on this review for a bit... I run a small business and know that reviews can be harmful, but the lack of addressing my concerns had me the most upset.I had taken my Shih Tzu there for grooming a few times. The first time the cut was really uneven, so I returned in two weeks (paid again) and asked them to fix the first cut. The next time I took him, the groomer nicked near his eye. They didn't even tell me. When I got home I noticed the blood so I called (no answer) and left a message telling them that my dog had an injury and to not cash my check for the grooming ($45). Surprise - surprise - they cashed the check. The owner never even returned my call - ever. I had the cell phone number to the groomer so I reached out to her directly by text. She did reply and apologized and said she didn't think it was that bad (I had sent a picture). Still no offer for a refund. That may have kept my business because accidents happen and no one is perfect. Since the owner never reached out, I decided to cancel my future appointment and ironically, the groomer sent me a text a few days later saying she had been 'thinking' about it for awhile and that I should find a groomer that has more time for him because he deserves the best. Leaving him there for 6 hours isn't enough? Sad to think she didn't consider the time she spent with him or her skills enough. He is only just now a year old and is my best little buddy. We love our pups so much. Sad to think he is now even more traumatized to go the groomer.

I've been taking my dog (Luigi) to Sage Valley for about three years now and they're the best. The staff is amazing. They're so friendly and caring. Luigi loves to stay with them. I'm glad to know that there's a place where he can stay when I travel. And the grooming services are great too! I definitely recommend it.

Super friendly staff, very accommodating. They did a great job with my dog who can be a little shy and skittish. They have great hours.. 7 days a week. I returned from my trip early and was able to pick my dog up on a Sunday rather than paying for an extra night because of them being closed as some places are.Love Sage Valley and we'll definitely be returning for our next pet boarding needs!!

Sage Valley took great care of our pup. Our pup is a rescue and she is a very scared little thing. Her fears sometimes lead to aggressive behaviors so we have never boarded her before. This was our first time boarding her so we researched many places and Sage Valley was the place we felt most comfortable taking her. We had a long discussion with the staff regarding her behaviors and they assured us she would be no problem. They offered a quieter section of the boarding facility for her and offered many play alternatives that would make her feel most comfortable. We boarded our pup for 6 days and on the 3rd day we called to get an update on how she was doing. They had no issue providing us with an update. They were super nice and raved about how well our pup was doing. The staff said they had no issues with her and she had been doing great with everyone. We were plesently surprised because our pup usually does not do well with new people. When we went to pick our pup up she was so comfortable with the staff and was even jumping all over them. This never happens with her and new people!!! She looked happy and healthy when we picked her up. When we got home she slept for hours so it was obvious she got a lot of activity while she was there. Our first experience was great with Sage Valley and we will definitely be taking our pup there again!

I took my Labradors here for a groom and they looked amazing. I don’t go to the old place anymore. I think my dogs are way safer and comfortable at Sage Valley. The staff is really friendly. They will have you sign a waiver for the dogs safety and their safety so you know your Dog will be happy clean and safe and that’s all I ask.

I only have good things to say about Sage Valley. I specifically bring my dog here because he doesn’t behave well in group boarding. I’m so happy they offer 1 on 1 human play time with him!

I've been coming to Sage Valley since my dog Apollo was a pup. He's now 9-years old. The kennel is clean, the staff is friendly, they ask questions confirming meal times, quantity of food, just in case anything has changed. My dog is happy to be there and I know he's having a good time.

Great friendly place to board dogs. My dogs never shy away at the staff at sage valley. And are always happy to come home. The groomers are also friendly and knowledgeable. This is so far the best in price for boarding and grooming. Will take my dog there always. I have tried other kennels in the area and this is the most reasonable. Sorry to you all who have had a bad experience.

This place is AMAZING! They have always done such a great job of taking care of our pets. We've had our cats and dogs boarded with them and they really do care. They remember all of my pets quirks and work hard to make sure they really enjoy their time there. I live in the tech center and drive up to Golden just to board them because I can't find anywhere that can match how awesome this place is. The prices are also very reasonable, which makes this even more my favorite place. I won't board anywhere else! We're lucky to have you in Colorado.

We LOVE Sage Valley Pet Center! I will not take my animals anywhere else when we go out of town. They have not only helped us out on routine out-of-town visits but also during emergencies when we needed to get our pets out of the house for whatever reason. They are SO great with our pets, knowing them by name & ensuring that we know they're being taken care of. I will always come here for any of my pet kenneling needs.

We have been taking our pup to Sage Valley for 9+ years. The staff is wonderful and the owners are great. The first couple times we dropped off our dog they let us call and check in on him. We love Sage Valley!

We left our dog at Sage Valley over the holiday weekend because they had spots available and were much more cost effective than the place we normally take her (holiday price hike). They run a paper only system so don’t expect any confirmation emails, etc. Not a big deal, the price was right, and the reviews were mostly good, so we went for it. We called to check in while we were away and they said she was doing great. Same vague report of “she did fine” and “she’s very sweet” when I picked her up. When we got home though, I noticed my dog scratching her ear and crying. I looked inside and found swollen redness and lots of dried blood. I also saw that she had a chunk out of her nose. We went to the vet immediately and confirmed a severe ear infection with both bacteria and yeast. After paying for the vet visit and medications to get her healthy again, we paid as much as we would have to have taken her to the nicer kennel. I know infections happen and sometimes come on quickly, but at the very least, they should’ve noticed something was wrong and alerted me to the situation when I picked her up. We will not be taking our dog back here.

My 9 year old rescue, lab mix loves her humans at Sage Valley. It was recommended to me when I moved to town almost 5 years ago by a coworker who described the staff and owners as "dog people." I was looking for a place that would understand more high maintenance dogs that weren't good with group play. All of the staff have been WONDERFUL to Birdie. In more recent years, they've been so helpful with all of her medical issues that seem to pop up just before a planned trip. They've taught me secrets about how to protect a hurt paw and all kinds of other ailments. Her tail wags in circles when she walks in and she starts howling with joy and they just love on her and let her be herself. I can't say enough about how great these folks are and how comforting it is to know that she's safe and happy while I'm away.

We have been using Sage Valley for several years now. When our dogs realize where they are going, they get very excited. They rush in the doors at Sage Valley with tales wagging. This tells me all I need to know about Sage Valley. If they are excited to be there, then I know they are being treated well and are happy. That is most important to us if they have to stay somewhere away from home - it's like a second home to them.

I have been taking my two dogs here for about 2 years. They have excellent service and are very flexible. I just recently had some plans fall through and needed my dogs boarded for 4 days. They happily helped me with the short notice I gave them. I picked my dogs up and they were happy and very well groomed. Especially my 3 year old aussie, the feathering was done correctly and she is soft and shiny! The prices are fair and the staff is friendly.

The staff at Sage Valley treat my rescued min pin like he was their own dog. My dog was formerly mistreated and does not take to other people very well. The Sage Valley staff know his needs and work with him. He has stayed there many times and while it isn't as nice as being "home" is, I know that he is safe there. Sage Valley has been around for many, many years so they must be doing something right. I think they have a lower overhead than many other boarding places (as in, the employees appear to wear multiple hats and there isn't just one specific person to answer phones, etc.) so they are able to keep their prices down. I highly recommended Sage Valley.
