This place is awful! Only self check out was open and we had 2 carts worth of groceries for our stay. The guy running the self check out Josh was so rude & snarky. Not helpful in any way. We had to keep calling himOver b/c we were well over the limit of items for self checkout. He would not open any normal check out where they actually have to work and check someone out so we had to keep waiting for him to come approve each time we reached the limit which was atleast 10 times. He seemed incredibly annoyed with us the entire time. But what else are we do to when you have no normal lines open and only self check out. It took us over 30min to check out. Josh to be even more of a jerk wanted to card both my husband and myself to buy bottle of champagne. This was at the end of check out and i said really you have my husbands id. And he said he has every right to card everyone. So i had to dig my id out. I’m 43!!! He just wanted to frustrate us even more! I never leave bad reviews but this deserved it. Horrible customer service!!!The guy in the deli was the only pleasant worker there. Josh needs a class in customer service & etiquette!!! Don’t shop here

To the manager that followed us around the store, you are not slick, if we wanted to shoplift we easily could have. Otherwise, besides the manager attempting to run the place like a dollar tree version of Fort Knox the staff were friendly. The store is pretty clean and otherwise no complaints, just check our receipt like a normal person instead of following us around. If I wouldn’t have spotted your manager badge under your jacket I honestly may have called the cops.(don’t you have security cameras?? Use them.)

Not like this company would ever care what their customers think but here is my review anyway. This store is terrible, it's cramped, it's limited, it's way too busy for it's own good, the coupons don't work, the BOGO sales don't work. (be sure to check your receipt) I'll be commuting 12 miles to Carbondale city market for some sanity. What a joke of a store.

Everything's here. A well done grocery store. Exceeded my expectations, and they are high. I love small chain or family owned grocery stores. Traveling like we do throughout the states, we make an effort to walk into unknown stores and see how the locals shop. City Market is the kind of market I wish I had in our neighborhood at home. All the standard items, but then loaded with specialty items, cheeses, beverages, deli, organic produce, a bakary. It is the quintessential gormet neighborhood market.

Since this is the main and only large grocery chain in town we have little choice but to shop here. There prices are higher than Walmart or target plus you better check your receipt as the price they post is wrong at check out. Example Sea Pac frozen shrimp price on tag 8.99. Price at check out 10.49. This is one example but I could give more if needed. They raise there prices and when they put it on sale it reflects back to the original price. Example red peppers price was 1.59 each they raised it to 1.69 then the next week lower it back to 1.59 on sale. Really. Kroger (city market) has a monopoly in every town in the roaring fork Valley and takes every advantage of it.

My daughter went in to order my wife a birthday cake. The woman wouldn’t even bring the book out for her to look at. The woman basically just decided what would be best. She was extremely rude and unprofessional.

I have a small medical dog that has ADA papers and was approved by my doctor because he alerts me to my medical issues. The manager embarrassed me greatly by questioning me about service animal and over did it by constantly questioning me. If there was somewhere else to shop in Glenwood Springs, I would. City Market you’re in violation of ADA regulations.

No Baskets or Small Carts for the last few months. Just going to hurt their bottom line from people buying less and creating more spills/damaged goods from carrying too much in their arms... or just not shopping here at all.

The BAGS yall! They were always super flimsy and once you got home most had holes. Fingers crossed that your groceries dont fall out onto the ground... but they were free. Now that you CHARGE for every bag... its a different story. You are charging people for these tissue paper thin bags and Im sitting here going through because I try to reuse as much as I can and all but ONE were too holy and had to be thrown away. Which is usually the case but when you pay for these bags... I dont expect them to rip at every corner. I know Im not the only one that feels this way. You had some in carbondale that were so thick I could use them all year. I could just bring my own, I know this. However... I usually forget them. That doesnt change the fact that you are charging for these bags that barely get your groceries home.

I wouldn’t usually care enough to give a review but Yasmin at the self checkout area is absolutely crushing it all the time. She was the only person at the self checkout there tonight with like 40 customers. She always has an amazing attitude and works so hard. I really appreciate her.

This store has no interest in keeping their departments open. Forget going to the deli and getting dinner, forget going to the bakery to get a cake, these people will literally take the product out of your hands and throw it away before they actually try to provide any customer satisfaction.

Great place to shop. The prices are cheaper than aspen and the staff was extra friendly and helpful!

This location is in desperate need of a remodel. It’s dirty, run down, and somehow extremely pricey. Two days in a row of deli closed and no rotisserie chickens out. Some of the staff are so friendly and helpful while others will straight up ignore you or run you over with their stock carts. Just drive a little further if you can and go to the Carbondale location it’s much nicer.

We stopped by City Market Food & Pharmacy to get basic stuff for our vacation. The market was full of fresh fruits, vegetables and all the necessary stuff. I overall loved the vibe here and employees were also helpful in guiding me to the stuff. The checkout was also an easy process.

I just ran into Patty who has been managing the store for quite a few years. The staffing situation is so challenging in our valley. It is so good to know that the team is doing anything they can to make our local grocery store the nice place it is. Much appreciation for all that the team does!! 🙏🏻

I guess like many places out there they are understaffed. Today, out of the 12 self checkout counters they only had 6 opened and it led to a 5-10 people line in the aisles around. Long lines for regular checkouts too. I asked and they said not enough attendants. Almost out of carts inside and parking lot was full of them. In general, oftentimes, lots of missing inventory and also very small store making it difficult to navigate the aisles. While the understaffing is real and understandable, it's just not a good customer experience and ultimately Walmart in Glenwood is doing a better job. I wish there was more competition overall. There's always been challenges out there over the years, including understaffing these days; working around them is what matters; not using it as an excuse.

As a long time Glenwoodian and someone who works in retail with customer service being paramount. I have never been so disappointed with this City Market. The staff apathy drives me nuts. If you hate what you do and aren’t social please quit and go to an industry that will tolerate your personality. Unfortunately we only have one real grocer in Glenwood so I hope they improve. Having the deli close at 5 and packing up the meat and fish department at 5 serves only people that don’t work 9-5. I understand staffing and overhead sux. I really don’t want to have to drive to Carbondale for food when I live 2 blocks from this store. Please help!!!

I visited this store for the first time today. While using the self check-out, one of the chip reader machines was having technical difficulties and did not capture our card information. Employees, Andres and Marcos, were very professional and willing to help; on the other hand, one of the young girls in the self checkout area was very unprofessional. Her lack of customer service skills was remarkable. She showed no respect for the customers at all. The situation turned worse when I requested to talk to the manager. The store manager's attitude was no better. She immediately became very upset without any idea of what had transpired. She proceeded to accuse us of "disturbing her employees" and requested that we abandon the store. It just so happens that the employee was speaking in Spanish and we are Hispanic. Turns out the low class behavior was understood by us, but the manager had no idea how condescending and unacceptable her behavior and statements were. It would behoove the supervisors of this establishment to take a close look at the training. COVID is no excuse for such poor customer service.

Impossible to get any help and they would not open a register for us. They only had self service checkout, which I refuse to do. So we put our groceries back and walked out. The stor is very small and very old. For a city like Glenwood you'd think they could have a better grocery store.

Staff was friendly and upbeat during my recent visit; I really appreciate Melissa; I had never met her before but she was quick and efficient at bagging my groceries, carrying on a pleasant conversation about the great deals in the store, and lending me more than a hand during my purchase. It was fun to see the teamwork that evening and I noticed the other customers nearby seemed entertained as well. Keep up the jovial attitude, and give your checkers and baggers a raise!! (they deserve it)

Extremely rude younger lady with glasses working the self checkout. Ripped my basket out of my hands before I was done with it. Zero courtesy and generally an unpleasant store.

I came here to pick up some groceries, and it was a very smooth process. I found what I needed in the well-organized aisles, and check-out was very quick as there were many lanes open. There's a large variety of items for a reasonable price, and I was able to find everything I needed and wanted. It's the biggest grocery store in town, and there's a huge parking lot too. I would recommend it if you're looking for a grocery store!

I believe your workers throughout the store are wonderful. Do you as management think it is way over the top to enclose cashiers in plastic boxes to ring up our purchases? I do and it changes the shopping experience. NOT necessary in GWS. Thanks.

Friendly, helpful staff. Well stocked. Wide aisles. The parking spaces are a bit narrow so most people park over the line it seems but other than that, no complaints.

How is it possible that they keep running out of water to refill your gallons and no one does anything about it? Gotta wait 15+ minutes just to wait for that thing to give you a couple gallons. Unbelievable. Plus, this place is always missing a bunch of products.

Although this place lists toys, there's really just a tiny selection of items. The staff was weird about requests for fruit that was being restocked. Two items rang up overpriced and the checkout person wouldn't correct the issue so we just left those items behind. We will try another place first next time.

I love this City Market! Alex and Luis are both incredible employees. Alex has such a wonderful personality and provides excellent customer service. Luis went above and beyond! Hands down, Luis provided the best customer service when he overheard me talking to my roommate about how I was upset they were out of something I needed to make a soup. He asked what it was I was looking for, went into the back, and then found me elsewhere in the store with an entire case of zucchinis for me to choose from! I was blown away; what an amazing employee you have! Thank you both so much for your incredible customer service!

I absolutely LOVE this City Market. The deli food is always delicious and fresh, the produce is usually great, the store is clean and comfortable and the staff is ALWAYS friendly and prompt. The Starbucks inside is awesome as well. The ONLY reason I am NOT giving this store a 5 star rating is because of the condition of some of the carts, ESPECIALLY the little car carts for kiddos. I am the mother of a 20month old who is always so eager to hop into one, but they're so dirty that I won't let him. I'm no picky germaphobe, but I'm very concerned a child will get sick from being in one. Not just my child but all little ones. It would be GREATLY appreciated if they received a weekly or even monthly deep clean. Let's keep our valley healthy!
