The accommodation was perfectly located for a visit to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, being only a 30-minute drive away. The lodging was very clean and well-kept. I was satisfied with the bed as well. We arrived late, but were greeted warmly and checked in swiftly. Notably, I accidentally left some of my belongings behind, and the staff kindly called me personally to inform me, ensuring my items were safely stored until I could retrieve them.Overall, the clean room, friendly staff, and great location left a very positive impression.

I slept great there. It is charming, and the room I had was clean and quiet. I liked the entire vibe and i can tell this privately owned place is well maintained and professionally cared for. Unlike some other places I just felt very good and slept like a baby. I do want to say since it is an older building (with hallways inside) I had a bit of luck that my room was at the end of the hall on the second story (top floor). I do not know about what the noise level would be in the other rooms, but my room was very quiet.

Nice hotel at the base of the mountains. My friends and I were visiting the sand dunes and luckily found this place. The rooms were clean and the carpets looked new. The lady at the front desk was nice and to the point. Check in was so easy, which was great considering the difficulty I had at other hotels on my trip. Only gripe is probably the beds. They're a bit weird, my bed had one side which was firm, the side I slept on. And the other side felt like I was sinking to the floor. It's a nice little place though, and the restaurant two houses down made the visit. Will definitely try and stay here again when I plan a return visit to the sand dunes!Rooms: Clean. Just weird mattresses. A/C was good and kept us cool.Walkability: The Mountain View Restaurant two houses down is a great place to eat more than one meal.

We found bedbugs in our room. The staff offered to change our room but admitted they knew about the bedbug problem and have been “spraying”. We reached out looking for some kind of refund and were given the owners number, and have yet to hear back after leaving a detailed message and speaking to the front desk staff. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of customer service and cleanliness of this motel. We gave them a chance to make it right and they chose not to. Will be reporting to bed bug registries and the local health department. You’re better off camping then staying here.Edit: The pictures show the under side of the bed/box spring that overhangs the bed frame in room 204 (the right bed) as well as the wooden table with a piece of paper on it to better show the bed bugs, not wooden floors as the owner tried to claim in their response. As of 7/30/23, we were not given a refund or free room per our bank statements. Nor has the owner returned any of our calls or voicemail, with the only response being their response to this review.

This hotel might have saved my life. I was driving with the winter weather worsening on a February night and needed a place to stay. I stopped here (I believe it was here) and found a friendly staff member and he gave me a cozy room where I watched Jimmy Neutron. I woke up and continued my journey the next day. Also when I opened up my window the next day I got a great view of Mt Blanca

We stayed here 05-11-23. A bed bug was found in the bathroom on one of the towels that wasn’t used yet. My husband brought it down when we checked out to show proof of it. The lady at the front desk took it and said “oh” and that was it. The beds were very uncomfortable and soft. We won’t be back. The only good thing was the restaurant across the street.

I would rate this hotel 10/5! After me and my friend drove 12 hours on a spontaneous trip to visit Forbes Park with no hotel booked we ended up here in Fort Garland. Everywhere was booked except for here and with only 1 room left for us they upgraded another guests to a better suite just so we could get a 2 queen bedroom. They were super friendly and accommodating. Even offered military discount! The integrity of their cleaning staff as well is incredible. My friend left their tablet somewhere in their mess of blankets and when we were driving home already about 5 hours away they called saying we left it. They went out of their way to mail it back to us. Stay here when you visit and you won't regret it.

Nice inn. Friendly staff. Rustic. Pretty great views from your room. (The other opposite side from the road has the best views!). The hot water ran out pretty quickly in the morning, which i suspect is just an issue of everyone else trying to get hot showers, too. I would recommend and stay here again!

We were so lucky to get the last room they had (we had reservations to camp at the Dunes, but the weather turned foul)- the front office clerk was so kind! He brought us extra blankets and towels without us asking (we had to fit 6 people into two queens!) and told us where to get food. He even called back to let us know what time the restaurant closed, to be sure we got there in time. The room was very clean, and other than the pillows being pretty flat, all was perfect! Oh, and dollar taco night at the place across the street meant a cheap and well enjoyed meal for our family of six!

Well kept clean rooms , I stay here on a regular basis. I saw a previous comment left by a self important person who seemed to think that on labor day weekend he could just stay extra days without actually booking the room. His previous reviews speak for his need tor mental health help, hopefully he will get the help that he seems to need. I was in the area labor day weekend all rooms were booked everywere, and to assume you could just stay extra days ,was ridiculously stupid.

This was my husband and my fourth time in a year staying here. We are always greeted with a smile and politeness. The rooms are always clean, prices are reasonable, walking distance to restaurants. The rooms have cable, a fridge, microwave and are always in great working order. We will continue to stay because there is never a doubt if our room will be clean, or if everything will properly work. Not to mention, veteran owned. We will definitely be back soon.

The room was very clean and the front desk person was very nice, but this place was a lot more expensive than I expected for what few amenities they offer. There is also NO BREAKFAST, which makes me sad.Walkability: There is nothing in walking distance.

We have driven by this hotel countless times but never had the need to stay in Ft. Garland. We decided on a little Thanksgiving getaway to the Sand Dune and decided it would be a great time to try out this property. We had a family of 4 and were so excited to have 3 beds in the room. The rooms are immaculate! The staff is so friendly and helpful. We will be staying here again and will be sure to tell family and friends all about it!

This is not a chain hotel, looks to be privately owned. Very clean and well kept. Whoever manages it runs a tight ship with pride in the property. It was quiet and relaxed. We had a King bed but the mattress was much firmer than we preferred. Will stay again and try a queen. I'll still give them 5 stars. Will stay again.

Hotel was clean but pretty basic. One had to ask at desk for a hair dryer. Was intimidating that front desk had a sign that proprietor was armed with a handgun. Perhaps it was because hotel advertises itself as owned by a disabled veteran but still not very welcoming. Still front desk clerk made sure to warn us that restaurants in town closed early and where to eat.

Great experience with Mountain View Motor Inn from calling in our reservation to our stay. The room was spotless. There was plenty of hot water which is always a bonus. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.

We stayed here with our four kids and it was perfect for us, especially for the price! There was coffee and some breakfast snacks available for guests in the morning which was great since we were heading into Great Sand Dunes! The owner was very nice and when we did have an issue with the toilet he quickly came to our room to help us. Our room and the entire building in general was very clean. We would stay here again if we ever come back!

After we were left without lodging at a place we had reserved near by, we stopped by at 9pm at this inn to check if there were any vacancies. Fortunately we were able to book the last room available. It was clean, except for the sofa bed. Mask policy, unfortunately, was flexible, including guests and front desk staff without masks on. The bed was the hardest I have ever slept on. I was actually going to sleep on the sofa since it was softer but when I opened it, it was very dirty.
