I adopted a new dog yesterday, her name is Izzy for now but it's yet to be determined if it truly fits her or not. But she has been an absolute joy to have with me! The adoption process at tcras was a very enjoyable experience as always! I went in with a couple different dogs in mind that I thought sounded like they were going to be great additions to my life, and to my disappointment at first the first 3 furry littles I had wanted to meet had all been adopted just before I showed up! I was assured that they all went to very loving homes with some great families! The nice ladies at tcras had been doing a great job all morning and they didn't stop when I got there! They introduced me to a few of the other furry little friends, I'm so happy that I met Izzy instead! She is just perfect for me! It was love at first introduction for me! Although I wish I could take them all home! I think Izzy needed me as much as I needed her! Izzy is the 4th fur baby that I've had the pleasure to rescue from tcras and I have always had a very good experience with them there! 1st time was with my own "big girl" Stella who I had and loved for almost 8 years, and then with an old friend who adopted her hàrold from them, my little sister who I surprised her with her now best friend coco, and finally my new bestie Izzy who I met yesterday! Thanks for all you guys do! And for all the great supplies that you gave Izzy to come home with! She loves her Santa toy and the brushes the most. And I love the mud buster and treat mat the most! Oh and her blanket and dog bed are going to be well used also! She is settling in very well and seems to really love her new place! If your looking for a new furry friend and are able to make it out to divide Colorado then tcras is the first place, and maybe even the ONLY place I would go to find a new furry baby to add to my family! Just ask for Libby and she will get all set up with a perfect match for you and your family too! Thank you ladies again for another great experience!

I cannot say enough good things about Teller County Regional Animal Shelter (TCRAS)! The staff are incredibly caring and dedicated to the well-being of the dogs (and cats). One of the standout features of this shelter is their 'Doggy Day Out' program, which is simply fantastic. It allows you to take a dog out for the day, giving them a break from shelter life and a taste of love and adventure.Doggy Day Out not only benefits the dogs, but it was fantastic for us too. It's a win-win! Our pup was not miserable when we brought her back to TCRAS after the hike, which shows that they truly go above and beyond to ensure the dogs are happy and healthy. If you are looking for company on your next adventure and want to make a difference, check out TCRAS.

A bunch of people that work hard together to take care of dogs found. Hopefully reuniting them with their family or just protecting them until they get the best thing ever. A FOREVER HOME. It's celebrated, because they love it when they find a loving family to take these awesome animals and add them to the pack.

TCRAS is a limited intake shelter which makes every effort to afford every animal they care for an opportunity to find their forever home. They go to lengths above and beyond to ensure every pet has the chance to live their life. We have 4 cats from them, all of which have unique personalities and characteristics which we love. Almost every cat we have adopted has gone through some traumatic event (before coming to TCRAS) that would have been easy to walk away or put them down as a solution. Because of the tireless work of the TCRAS employees and volunteers, they are permanently a part of our family and living happy lives. If you are looking for your next life long companion, start here.

I love this animal shelter! TCRAS is unlike many other shelters where the pets there seem like they are warehoused in cement bunkers. At TCRAS you can clearly see how much the volunteers love their animals. This is a great place if you are considering adding a new fur baby to your family! You guys are great🐾

On March 4th of 2016 I adopted a female 4 year old cat and she is now 11and a half. Thank you TCRAS for sending her down to Pet Smart in Colorado Springs so I could find her there. I love her so much, the sun rises and sets on that kitty for me. She is so sweet and cute ,a tiny one that I named Joline.♥️

They are one of the best shelters I have visited. they do not give up on the animal just because they have been there.they do keep them for as long as it takes to adopt them out. they also work very hard at their training to get them adopted out too.

Local no-kill shelter. When I lost my beagle of 12 years, I turned here to find my next friend. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful during the adoption process. Very thorough. They care about the pets there and the people who are looking to adopt. Bella was (and is) the perfect choice.

Everyone was so helpful and friendly. We adopted our new dog Elmo on the 5th of July and he has already made himself at home. Happy family!

Got my beautiful cat Bella from there. She had problems eating and they thought it was her teeth or ulcers in her throat. Took to the vet, they just recommended a cleaning. So after her being rehabilitated at TCRAS I got her. After a month, she was grooming herself more eating a bit more... then- she inevitably threw up a hairball. In the hairball I found plastic confetti that had dog and cat faces on them. Ever since she doesnt gag, eats fine and is doing great!I thought I should let you know- whatever toys or food around there. please be mindful. I wonder if some psycho put it in her food? IDK but that was the problem...

A black well looked after lab pup arrived in our neighborhood with no collar. No collar and no chip is not ok.The staff at the shelter were kind and clearly experienced. They took him in even after he did his puppy business in their reception. Kudos to them. They immediately took pictures and had him posted.I heard a visitor to our area claimed him. Please chip your animals.

At first, we fell in love with this place and the dog we adopted. He was a little banged up and had heartworm but we were told that they would take care of all of his current medical treatments that he needed. Sadly we were misinformed and have to pay out-of-pocket for further treatment, this was our first adopted animal with medical issues and we don't have a lot of money, all which they knew and pretty much lied to us to get this dog into a home.. it would be a better idea to make sure that people know 100% what they are getting themselves into no matter how in love they are with an animal.. Not that we won't pay for our dog to get better but the fact of the matter is that the misinformation is just craziness.

Seems like the staff care about the animals. I got my cat here and one lady helped me pick a cat for my family-and told me what to look for in a cat that would get along with my toddler. She must be good at her job because our car is the most patient cat I've seen in my life and we love her. I'm kinda amazed she found us such a good fit. Adoption process and fees were very reasonable.

small operation offering personal service and flexibility. The dog in my profile came from this shelter back in 2017. Originally from Texas. Actually I think this is their photo. Great experience and great outcome. Had Missy for coming up on 5 years now.

I had a tour of the place. The staff do a great job of keeping facility in great shape. They also do really good job working with animals: helping them develop social skills as much as possible. This place will not euthanize the animals so that is a plus. I highly recommend Teller County Animal Shelter. I would love to adopt myself, but I already have three Big dogs myself 😀.

TCRAS is awesome! We were able to let the staff know what we needed in a dog, and they called a few weeks later with the perfect little girl for us. We went in to meet her and fell in love. 😍During the adoption process, the staff were all friendly and professional. They answered all of our questions, and provided a folder with all of her information and references to grooming services, etc. They also provided us with a harness and leash, a "Heart" blanket, dog food, treats and toys. Her foster mom even brought along a bunny rabbit that she had been sleeping with. She still sleeps with it. ❤TCRAS gets high marks from me. The animals are clearly cared for and the facilities were clean and smells fresh. Anyone looking for a pet should go to their website and work with them to find the perfect companion. You won't be disappointed.

They were very rude to us picking up our dog. They stated "We would've had him out of here as soon as we his hold was up". Working hours and down in the Springs made it super difficult to find the time to get him especially since they don't open until 10. Neighborhood kids were provoking him and they were super judgemental about our dog getting out. They need to be more focused about reuniting families. You could better educate without putting a personal opinion in and just state how much the fee is to get the dog out. Our dog looked so scared in there and was exposed to all kinds of disease.

No care shown for human emotions! I was so excited to bring my new dog home. I shared with them my family and living situation and they were excited, telling me the dog I chose was perfect for my family and when we met her, we all fell in love. I put my deposit on the dog and waited for her to be spayed. I had an appointment after her spay to pick her up and bring her home. I bought everything she needed to start her life with us! When I arrived to pick her up, they told me they changed their mind and wouldn’t approve the dog to go home with me, saying they don’t think she is a fit. I was hurt and wanted to cry. Immediately they started pressuring me to see other dogs, but my heart was too broken to look at any other dog as I already had a growing attachment to the dog I though was going to make a member of my family. I asked if I can get my deposit back and they told me it was non refundable but transferable to another dog of my choosing, they then told me they meant to call me the THE DAY BEFORE but figured that since I was coming down on an appointment anyway, they would just tell me then so I would be there to see other dogs! I might have looked at another dog if I didn’t feel tricked into it. If I got the call the day before, I would have had the time process my feelings and would have come back to see other dogs, no problem. I couldn’t hold my emotions back so I just walked away.

We visited one time to look for a dog. The kennels were clean and the dogs looked like they were well cared for. The staff that we have met here at the shelter and out at the farmer's market and the pet fair were all friendly helpful and caring people. Their pricing for dogs is reasonable. We did adopt a middle aged Alaskan Malamute for $100. We would definitely recommend that you adopt from this Animal Shelter. Divide is only a short drive west on Highway 24 from Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs. Check out their pet selection online, then come and adopt. You'll be glad you did.

I adopted an adult female...black lab/Rottweiler. About 100 lbs. 8 years 10 months. When they brought her out I instantly fell in. Loved with her, and knew she was my new best friend. The staff were so pleasent, Eric who helped me w the paperwork, was so awesome. Dogs name is Marlee. She had been in the shelter 2weeks. Don't buy new puppies, please 1st look at your local Humane Society, and save a life.

They love all of the animals and go over questions, requirements, and your understanding of the animal that you are getting and make sure if you have others if they are a match. Jan I brought home is adjusting well and Gypsy are having fun. Thank you so much for my new baby.

Small place. Kind and friendly staff who love the animals they care for. Didn't find the pup for me, but maybe you will. They have a small selection of dogs, many of which look like they'd make amazing pets. Give them a peek or check out their website if you're looking for a dog or cat. Nominal adoption fees, but very affordable.

Great place to get a dog and cat. We have adopted 2 dogs and a cat over the years. This is a no kill shelter which I like. My wife volunteers every weekend at the shelter. As soon as I retire, I will do the same. Angie and team are great people. Go get a pet. They make your life happier.
