They’ve helped my picky dog choose a food through many trial and errors by providing me samples and making the process so much easier than a big chain store. We recently adopted 2 older labradors and they helped us trim their long nails, find the correct food for their low weight, and additional immunity support. I have lived in Denver for almost five years in every neighborhood. This store and staff (Gwen and Judith) is by far the best pet store I have ever been to.Gwen and Judith are extremely observational-- the moment I walked into the store with my dog Tito, they immediately recognized he is a shy and fearful pup, and made him feel more welcome by giving him space after providing a treat. They even encouraged me to bring him in more so he can become less fearful of strangers.In regards to customer service specifically: The first time I visited, I asked if they had a lick mat. While they were out of stock at the moment, they immediately ordered one and texted me when it arrived a week later-- unmatched service!This is how all boutique pet stores should be-- local, kind-hearted and knowledgeable, a community as its own!

They didn’t pick up the phone when I called to find an item I need from a brand they carry, then made me wait outside for several minutes while they finished a nail clipping before letting me inside to tell me they could order it for me, like my pet wants yo wait a week for cat food. No apology for not picking up the phone, just laughing that the process took so long. Not a fan.

I would put 5 stars but there is a gal in this store that is EXTREMELY disrespectful and it’s uncalled for and unnecessary. She is extremely caught up in the neighborhood drama and needs to be more focused on her job and not issues that are not of her concern. All the while she talks bad about people who are her customers making a remark to myself and my husband once when we were running a little late and we’re 2 minutes from closing she made a comment “you guys are lucky if it wasn’t for ____ (neighbor of the area) not shutting up I wouldn’t even be here right now to help ya’s”.EXTRMELY rude and uncalled for. He happens to be a customer as well. Very unprofessional!!! I will not buy my $100+ bags of dog food every other week here anymore and I will spread the wo of her unfriendly soap opera behaviors to everyone. I certainly hope that she is out of there soon so that I may feel comfortable with returning but until then I will not spend another penny. Bummer.

By far the best pet shop in Denver. The owners are knowledgeable and love what they do. They go above and beyond to make sure you get everything your pet needs! I went here after reading the reviews and they are not wrong at all! These lovely ladies hooked my baby boy up. The food we chose went over like gang busters and he eats every bite. For the longest time he had been leaving a portion in his bowl. They were so knowledgeable and helpful, not to mention SUPER kind and thoughtful! I'm pleased as punch

Lovely lovely pet shop. Judith and Gwen have been my go to for years. No need to go anywhere else once you visit Sherlock hound. Small town everything hidden in a big town. They give you back everything you didn’t know you needed. Forget the big box stores or delivery service when you have the pleasure of stepping into their oasis.

I don’t often leave reviews but this place went above and beyond. The folks inside were kind and knowledgeable. I have a cat with bladder stone issues and we have been testing out expensive urinary tract foods. The employees here offered me a sample of an affordable and high quality food to test out and gave me lots of tips for a healthy cat diet. I just happened upon this place because I live across town but will certainly be coming back!

We are traveling through Denver with our pup and needed to restock on her special food. Gwen and Judith mixed a few different flavors in a by-the-pound way to make sure our pup was happy! Not only this, but they helped us choose a CBD oil to help with our dogs travel anxiety, and sent us off with homemade balm for her paws. To top it off, they hand wrote a list of places in the area to visit as we continue our travels. As a queer couple we felt immediately welcomed and safe here.

Love this shop. They're super helpful and go out of the way to make sure our pets are always taken care of. Great selection of food and treats. They've come through multiple times to special order my dog's (Argos) food and when I've been gone overseas for work related travel, they have delivered to my house. They've even given me some "gap" food for my dog when they didn't have our normal brand in store and were leaving for road trip. Highly recommend. Support your local stores!!!!!

Couldn’t be happier to have this place so close by! They order the specific dog food we need, always offer samples to try other foods or to hold us over, have helped us figure out some of our pup’s digestive issues, and even left some probiotic samples at our door when the larger size wasn’t going to be in on time. They’re so easy to work with and it’s so great to know they love our dog (almost) as much as we do.
