I stayed here a couple weeks ago for work and they were very accommodating to my almost week long stay. The windows were well covered and I didn’t feel at all that anyone could see in and the deadbolt lock and security chain made it feel very safe as I was traveling alone. Many, many great hikes in the area. I highly recommend the Lookout Mountain trail loop. Great views of the sand dunes in the distance as well as the beautiful mountains. Many nice restaurants and breweries within walking distance and with very friendly service as well. Next time I’m in the area whether for work or fun, I will definitely be staying here.

Great setup, ease of self check in with door code, retro-vibe, nice lounge with drinks, and snack/vending kitchen. Comfortable, clean rooms. Do not pass up the opportunity to stay at the Mellow Moon if you are traveling in the Del Norte area.Rooms: Robes provided, wonderful modern shower, updated and stylish finishes, and a totally comfortable bed.Noteworthy details: This is an older facility that they have done a great job of renovating the rooms and lounge. Do not let the exterior fool you. Don't judge the book by the cover, this is a great stop.

Another fantastic stay at the Mellow Moon. Lauren and her team are the best hosts. The place is really coming together and is comfortable, clean and well located for all your SLV adventures. This week, we got in three days at Wolf Creek and several trips to the local hot springs and a day at the Monte Vista Crane Festival. We'll definitely be back!

Really a wonderful vibe from first to last at this little gem nestled in the heart of the San Luis Valley. The room is beautifully appointed with a walk-in slate shower, impeccable accoutrements and a lovely but understated fragrance unusual to a motel. The front desk and lounge areas offer a nice array of beverages, treats, and fun, beautiful items, all done with care and panache. Good eats are just a walk away from the 1874 Windsor Hotel to the old-timey Colorado Grille, and definitely stop by the Mennonite-run bakery if crispy, golden gluten (and a free GF options) is your thing!Super reasonable prices for a truly memorable night's stay and experience!

I had a fantastic stay at Mellow Moon Lodge! The contactless check-in was seamless, and the newly renovated rooms were both cozy and stylish. Having coffee and tea in the room was a delightful touch, making mornings extra enjoyable. The lodge's convenient location made it easy to find, and there were plenty of activities nearby to keep me entertained. Highly recommend for a comfortable and hassle-free experience.

By far one of my favorite stays ever! We felt so cozy, & at home in the 2-Queen bed suite. We had a very happy pup, too. You can tell the owner, Lauren has put so much love and thought into all the details of this place. Best sleep I've ever had on the tuft and needle mattress, we will definitely be back! Such a great location if you want to explore the sand dunes, or shred at Wolf Creek! Everything was very clean, and the art/details down to the sheets were impeccable!

Although I’m not a high technology person, having everything done over the internet/texting went flawless. Communication via text with instructions on key code to get into the room, how to change heat/ temperature and guidance on after hours access to the mercantile was easy. I like the idea that the ownership is private having renovated an old motel that sat for 20 years. The room was whimsical with high ceilings, clean, and easily accessible with parking right in front. Bathroom spotless and I was given a handicapped unit with walk-in shower.Plenty of towels but not much space to put my toiletries. No big deal. It was quiet, I felt relaxed in an upscale way, and you can tell theirs a pride of ownership in the small details such as the coffee and tea in room as well as the eco- aware touches. All in all a great stay for a “motel”

I can not say enough good things about this beautiful lodge. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The coffee and yummy latte packs! Wow! The most coziest handmade in the USA robes you’ve even worn! The best smelling soap and hair products on the planet! Such a thoughtful canteen space! All hail the Mellow Moon! My heart left feeling all warm and fuzzy!

I have to give this amazing Lodge a shoutout. This is our favorite place to stay. The rooms are clean, modern and comes with everything you need. The staff are so friendly, helpful and accommodating (especially Lauren). This place is a little gem! Walking distance from the Rio Grande river, small grocery store and an excellent coffee shop (Raisin' Rye - another spot you need to visit).

I absolutely love the Mellow Moon! I stop here on my way from Durango to Denver and back every time. Lauren has created very inviting and comfortable rooms with special little amenities like a robe and delicious, quality coffee. It’s an added plus that the check in building is basically a gift shop/bar with cold craft beers and lots of lovely random things for purchase. The most important part was that they are very accommodating and quick to respond when there is an issue. The cherry on top of course is that it’s a great price for all that you are getting. Very wise choice for a stay over in Del Norte!

My coworker and I stayed here for a couple nights and had an absolutely lovely experience! Lauren, the owner, was so kind and was accessible whenever we needed help. The rooms had high ceilings, cute decor, and were very comfortable stocked with high quality toiletries. I'm eager to return when they finish the bar renovations! Easy walk into town where there were eclectic shops. I highly recommend a stay here!

This is the place if you’re staying in Del Norte!! This is a totally refurbished motor lodge that is modern, comfortable, and relaxing! The high ceilings in the rooms were surprising and give it a very roomy feel. Everything from the mattress to the towel hooks are well done. It was quiet and the staff was great even though check in and check out are done be text. The coffee and breakfast burritos in the morning were delicious and we enjoyed our entire stay. This is a great spot!

Stayed at this motel on the way to Durango and was pleasantly surprised how cute it is. The rooms use door codes for self check in rather than a key. The rooms are styled with tall ceilings, big, comfortable beds, huge showers, fun artsy robes and a certain charm to them that is stunning. The coffee and condensed milk combo for the morning cup was also really good, which is rare for any temporary housing. Place was quiet with all good vibes. The only "bummer" is we didn't get to experience the lounge! Looked really cute though and the Canteen was stocked with snacks plus anything a traveler may have forgotten. We'll be back for sure, thank you for having us!

Mellow Moon is simply divine! Cutest, cleanest, comfiest rooms, at a really reasonable price point, with everything you could need--and nestled at the edge of the adorable quaint town of Del Norte. We saw the Milky Way from just around the corner. This female-owned, eco-conscious business has struck gold! Definitely worth a stay. Lauren and her team are lovely and so helpful. Wish we could have stayed a few more days!Rooms: Rooms are lovely, spacious, clean, and beautifully furnished.Nearby activities: Very close to Wolf Creek at the edge of the mountains. We loved star-gazing just around the corner at night on the dark gravel roads.Safety: You feel incredibly safe on property and walking around. A police officer is often stationed across the street.Walkability: You can easily walk around the cute town during the day or at night.Noteworthy details: Old school retro mini fridge with freezer, microwave, real plates and silver ware, super rustic chic furnishings, and carefully thought out details.

A very tastefully decorated room with so many lovely touches-hand dyed sheets and towels, owner designed diffusers, modern prints, Bodum teakettle, adorable refrigerator and nice modern furnishings. The hotel is just a touch of class in a little town. Lauren has great tastes and it shows she puts her heart in to the business.Nearby activities: Del Norte history museum, Windsor hotel with Bistro and Dining and back patio, Raisin Rye Micro Brewery, Summitville Ghost Town and Mine, Penitente Canyon hiking, Antiques, Brewery and lovely old churches with very interesting cemetaries. Great spot.

What a great stay when visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park! Very chic motel with fun design features. Very cool that it is a restored motel. The rooms are super clean and smell great with excellent botanical toiletries. Very accommodating of our Siberian Husky as well. Lauren, the owner, and the rest of the staff were very communicative and helpful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We found this motel in a newsletter for weekend getaways from Denver, and we were not disappointed. We had wanted to visit Great Sand Dunes, and Del Norte was an easy drive away. The motel itself was lovely, and it was nice that it was a restoration and renovation of an old motor lodge. The rooms were comfy, and there were a few spots at the front where you can sit and enjoy the weather and view. We would definitely come back and were plotting which friends/family would enjoy coming out during a visit.Rooms: They are well supplied and comfortable for a short or longer stay.Safety: Felt safe the entire stay, no issues at all.Walkability: Very walkable to the other side of main street with food and drink options.Food & drinks: There's a nice mercantile and canteen there where you can grab snacks for hikes, supplies for camping, and beverages for a porch sit.

While searching for overnight accommodations on our way to Pagosa Springs, I came across Mellow Moon. I was skeptical to book online so I made a call to the the number listed. I was surprised to get the owner Lauren. She couldn’t have been more wonderful and booked us into a perfect room. Our room was immaculate and smelled heavenly. Every detail was well thought out. We loved the extra large shower and the in room tea and coffee. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. I can not recommend a stay here enough. We will definitely be back!

We planned to stop here to see the Sand Dunes and a hot spring. It was the perfect stop on our trek to California! We would definitely stay again. Check in and everything was seamless, hands off and so easy. The best part was definitely all of the small things; the cute robes, the local coffee, organic tea and all of the soaps were all curated so well to make for an enjoyable stay ✨✨✨ easy peasy, so cute and cozy. Bravo to the owners!
