This hotel is as bad as it gets. It is not worth the few dollars you save. The worst night of sleep I have gotten in a hotel. The bed felt like it was just springs, and was sloping down so I felt like I was sliding out. The carpet was stained and looked so dirty, old thin sheets, only a thin blanket on the bed, lumpy pillows, and we found an opened drink can behind our end table. There were stains on the walls and unfinished paint patches. Not a picture on the wall or any attempt to make it nice. The front desk staff was friendly but when I told them about our experience, they just asked if we were checking out. The hallways smell like smoke, and not enough parking. This is one of the few family friendly hotels in the area, with a pool and hot tub it’s sad that is so run down. We came for the ice castles and that was fun, we had 11 of us and couldn’t find a restaurant that would serve us. This is not a kid friendly town at all.Food & drinks: No food available except for vending machines. The ice machine was broken while we were there. Not even free coffee in lobby when we got up.

Our reservation was incorrect. The staff I have great things to say about them as the person who was working the desk handled it very well and made it right. The rooms are clean but outdated, and the sheets don't fit the beds. I froze, blankets are very thin, and mattresses are old. Can you hear every person walking anywhere near our room above or down the hall. You get what you pay for. We paid $78 on a Tuesday.

It was nice to have a nice hot tub and pool but no towels to use had to drip dry or use ones in room. Rooms don't get changed out until it's the 4th or fifth day sadWalkability: You can walk down to the casinos but once in awhile the shuttle does come up to pick you up

Absolutely horrible experience!! I asked to change my bed sheets then when they changed my bed sheets they put old sheets with cigarette holes in them and they tried to charge me $250 because they said I put those holes in the bed sheets.. then acted bewildered when I refuse to pay for something that I didn't do. Cops always show up in the middle of the night. The room above me flooded and there was water leaking through the light fixtures and they did nothing but just bring me towels. Definitely would not recommend to a weary traveler!

It's not my thing to write negative reviews. I believe that everyone has a different opinion and if you have had an unpleasant experience somewhere, you should not return to the same place. However, in the case of this hotel, it would not be right for me to keep others in the dark about this hotel.First of all, this hotel's advertisement is misleading. The Gold King Mountain Inn is not the Golden Nugget. The Golden Nugget is a newly opened hotel next to the casino. The Gold King Mountain Inn is located behind and uphill from the newly constructed hotel. It is likely that they advertise as one hotel because they are owned and operated by the same company. There is a huge difference between the two hotels and they offer completely different experiences. To each his own, marijuana, like writing negative reviews, is not my thing. The Gold King Mountain Inn offers "No Smoking" rooms, however, the entire hotel including my room smelled like skunk. I felt sick from the smell, even inside my room, though the smell may have been compounded by my proximity to the stairwell. The door to my room would not unlock. The front desk got me into the room, but after I returned from dinner, I stood outside the room for a very long time. I'm not sure why the front desk couldn't help. I informed the evening attendant who had recently come on duty that there was a problem with the door prior to leaving for dinner. I believe they were on the phone, trying to locate someone to assist with the door. I wanted to leave and find another hotel, but all of my belongings were locked in the room. The broken door lock could explain why the window was broken and wide open when we arrived. It might have been necessary for them to climb through it in order to help another guest. The shower curtain was moldy, and the containers in the shower that hold the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were all empty. It was disgusting to look at the grout in the bathroom. I'm not sure what was in the grooves in the nightstand, but it certainly didn't belong. The lamp on the nightstand appeared not to have been cleaned in years. I could go on, but I won't.I encourage everyone to do research before booking this hotel. Always check reviews to understand hotel amenities and services. This can be especially helpful for those looking for a clean place to sleep.

Trip was planned for months, get there an hour before check in,3 pm, and no rooms were clean and available until almost 7 pm. Mind you it's in Cripple Creek, in January, was absolutely freezing, had to wait hours in the truck with it running waiting... For a billion dollar Casino, completely a superb failure.. absolute disappointment

Golden Nugget & Gold King Mountain InnThey used misleading photos to get you to book in a disgusting hotel. It’s not clear what hotel you will be staying at. We did not stay due to the filthiest. We lost our money. The guy at the front desk tried to help us get a room and the newer hotel with no success, he says it happens everyday. They misled people to a nasty hotel everyday with photos of a newer hotel and a discount price and it’s not the same building. Crooks!

For being a casino owned hotel this is an embarrassment for Golden Nugget, maybe equivalent to a super 8 motel! Not many places to stay in Cripple Creek and we were told the main casino hotel was unavailable so this was our only other option to stay in town. This hotel is dirty, old, bedding and rooms are gross and the whole place smells like mold. I wouldn’t want my dog to have to stay here!

We did a suite with a jacuzzi tub. We weren't sure what to expect based on the reviews but we gave it a shot and it was lovely. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The tub fit both of us comfortably jets worked great additionally we were by the heated pool and hot tub which were well kept. We even woke up to deer outside our window! Short walk down to (Wildwood) Golden Nugget or the shuttle will grab you for free for Bronco Billy's! Desk staff were lovely and Rebecca was very sweet. We will stay again!

The place is not bad. The room was big, little strange to have the tub in the room with the bed though. It was clean. The staff was friendly. I only stayed for a night and it was quiet. I think it could use an update though. There was a domestic disturbance while I was there and the staff kept everyone calm and handle things great and things didn't get out of hand and the police had responded very quickly. There was no harm to anyone staying here.Rooms: The room was ok. A little out dated. The tub was in the room with the bed. And don't forgot to close the curtains otherwise everyone can see you.Nearby activities: You would have to either drive your self, walk down the hill or take the shuttle as this hotel is not near the other casinos and can be harder for those not able to walk up and down the hill.Safety: There was a domestic issue that happened and staff and police acted quickly to handle the situation and there was no harm to the rest of those staying here.Walkability: It's ok unless you are not very mobile as it's up on a hill.Food & drinks: They don't offer free food or drinks they have a vending machine for that.

Be careful. The booking acts like you will be staying at the Golden Nugget Hotel. However, you will soon learn that NO, you will be going up a very steep grade to the "Nightmare on the Hill." What a dump. Arrived and told room is ready. Checked the room and NO. The person checking on the room lied to me. Next, the two hoodlums working behind the front desk stole my credit card and began a $900 shopping spree not 30 minutes are I left. Avoid this dump at all costs. The rooms are dredges, dirty, stinky and of dubious history. Avoid at all costs!

The view from the parking lot, of Cripple Creek, and the pool/hot tub/workout room, and a clean room, were the positives. The website said there was complimentary breakfast, but there is not. For a family of 5, this was a huge disappointment and false advertising. Also, there is no complimentary coffee in the lobby, nor the room. This town is full of casinos, but we came for the attractions in and around the area. Since this is one of the only hotels not attached to a casino, maybe that's why it was overall disappointing. All restaurants close at 9pm, except for Salt Grass (which closes at 10pm). Just trying to help those planning a trip here.

Stayed for one night. Quiet and quaint little motel near the Wildwood. Rooms were clean and front desk nice. Tucked away from the main strip and on a hill so the walk could be difficult (although they do have a shuttle) but the view is wonderful. Did not get to use the pool or hot tub but that is on our list for next time. I’d stay again for another weekend getaway.

Probably the worst sleep I’ve had in my life. The bed was so uncomfortable, I tossed and turned all night. The carpet in our room was very stained up as well. Would have liked an actual comforter, the thin blanket was not very warm. The staff at the desk were nice, and the view from our room was great, but if I had the choice I definitely wouldn’t stay here again. And we originally thought we had booked at the GN, so we didn’t even book here to begin with. Also, he mattress didn’t even have a mattress protector on it.

Had a great stay. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was peaceful looking down over the little casino mountain town. They had some amenities and some vending options downstairs. Otherwise, the main strip was a 5 minute drive down the hill. The room was tidy and smelled clean. Loved the bed spread. Nice open space and places to charge. Will most certainly stay again when I have my next photography gig this way. Thank you for the friendly experience.Rooms: Clean and tidy.Nearby activities: Casinos. Dugh. But also other great attractions such as the mine, burrows, and shipping.

As we walked in the female manager was condescending one of the staff, the kid behind the counter had the most incredible body odor we could hardly stand there 🤢 we got our room keys and upon walking into our room it was trashed, bed had old sheets not made, and trash all over room. We booked room a week in advance! And was an hour late! when we approached them about it, they could care less and offered to move us to a different room. We declined and asked for a refund, again the female manager could care less and said sure, it may take a week for your refund to post to your card. For 20 dollars less we got an awesome room at the double eagle and the staff was super friendly. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS PLACE! This being rated a 2 star hotel is gracious!

It's a nice motel the staff was great! But our room the bed was old it was actually folded like a taco in the middle and leaned down towards your head like the frame was broken. So it was hard to get some good sleep. The staff was great the rest of the room was beautiful and clean just needs to be updated considering the price. Our rm was 125 but would stay there again to try it again.

Don't recommend staying here. First room we were given someone else was in it which is the reason are room key didn't work. Second room the key just didn't work period. Third room didn't work either but decided to try one last time and finally we were in the room. Cleaning staff was very nice but front desk staff, well if this was my business I would replace them. We were not offered anything for the inconveniences but other people that were not allowed to check in early were given free tokens to play. No free tokens for us. Highly r commend staying at the Wild Casino down the street worth the extra money.

For the most part we had a good experience however I would suggest not getting a room near the elevator exit. Sleep was lacking due to constant opening and shutting of this particular door. They do have a shuttle to the casino. I was thinking it was attached, I was wrong. Also you may be a little thrown off by the entrance to this facility as we had to go down construction type roads and dead ends to get there. GPS led many astray as we were following others. The staff was extremely polite and helpful even though the alarm went off twice the evening we checked in. We would return.
