Beautiful well taken care of campground with lots of amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the off-leash dog area. The only issue we encountered, which in no part is the fault of the KOA, is there is a shooting club located next to the campground and one of our pups does not do well with loud sounds like gunfire and fireworks.

Cripple Creek KOA is a special place! The owners and staff are as busy as bees constantly cleaning everything in the facility and on the grounds. The bathrooms are in excellent condition and immaculately clean. The complimentary gas grills and campers' kitchen are awesome. The staff is super helpful and they do everything possible to accommodate campers' needs and special requests. The location is lovely and peaceful. It is surrounded by green fields and mountains. The terraced layout of the facility allows for good views from most sites. The high altitude provides comfortably cooler temperatures in summer. It is a great place to escape summer heat and to chill out.The prices are very reasonable and affordable. There is a great area for dogs to play and also fun installations for kids. Five Stars and highly recommended!

This is the type of experience I expect from KOA.I ordered pizza the 1st night it was great. Enjoyed the pancakes the next morning. The store and all the facilities are excellent. Then this part is what shocked me... WIFI so good that with a full park you can still stream TV. That never happens. The spots are all well maintained with gravel and nice picnic table and fire rings. The tent sites, and the cabins look really nice. Thank you to everyone that works here. This will be by new close to home campground from now on.Nearby activities: Gold mine tour is a must

We had to check in late and out early. The process was made very simple. We rented the camp cabin and it was in excellent shape and clean. Restrooms were spotless. The cute scripture sign made it very welcoming. I only gave this a 4 for location but that's all a preference. You basically have one way in and out of the main highway but it's beautiful. My only complaints are that coming in late it was a little tricky maneuvering around in the dark. They at least need reflectors to mark the parking spots and I wish the office opened earlier. Other than that...very niceđź‘Ś

We spent a week in this beautiful KOA! We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, hiking, the quaint mine towns of Cripple Creek and Victor, and so much more! The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was clean! The Pizza was out of this world delicious! This is a great place to stay! You won't be disappointed! Come as strangers, leave with new friends! Lots for kids to do also!Nearby activities: Be sure to visit the towns of Crippler Creek and Victor! There's lots to do from visiting Rita, to shops, dining and gambling if you're into that, bike riding, visiting the wandering mules, disc golf and more! You can also pan for gold, hike the beautiful areas, put your feet in the water at Eleven Mile Canyon! Be sure to visit the Goldrush Cafe in CC and Goldrush Bakery in Victor. Lots of interesting history if you can find someone to tell and show you!

I’ve come here with (and sometimes without) my family for 20 years, often making multiple trips in a season. It’s a favorite home away from home, and just keeps getting better. This trip (July 17 through 20) was solo—our kids are grown and my wife was in Europe. I booked the Couples Cabin, which my wife and I love, and enjoyed being well off the grid for three nights. The cabin is cozy and convenient, with electricity (and even a fresh water spout outside near the back). The hosts are friendly and accommodating, and the store is super handy.I hope to continue visiting this idyllic place for a long time to come.Nearby activities: There’s a lot to see and do, with the twin towns of Victor and Cripple Creek only minutes away. There are numerous sources of information online for events and points of interest.

Beautiful campground with great views. The hosts are FANTASTIC and you feel so well cared for. There are no trees for shade but the campsites are average size and kept in good shape. Nice they serve Hunt’s Pizza and bring it to your campsite…although we currently don’t eat dairy or grains so couldn’t partake:(. So close to Cripple Creek. It was a nice getaway!

Not rating rooms because I stayed in my own RV and not the cabins. Loved the experience of staying at the highest KOA in the US (10k+feet of elevation). The owners and staff were absolutely wonderful. They really made it feel like a home away from home.Nearby activities: Wonderfully remote location that required driving to get anywhere. Perfect location to get away from everything.

Great stay and service at this KOA. By far one of the best KOA's I've stayed at due to the amenities and friendliness of the staff. There are 4 showers and a men's and women's bathroom. The upgraded tenting site is conveniently located across from the main cabin so it makes showering and restroom breaks convenient. The shop area is super cute and the pizza is delicious. When we visited there were no other tenters near us so it was super quiet and peaceful. Very clean campgrounds and I was able to get 4G cell service (Verizon).

Lousy customer service. Showers close at 11 yet checkout is noon and what about people staying two nights? They lock you in the bathroom if you’re there when they start cleaning. There’s only one restroom and it closes for 2 hours during the day- so you think people should use natures restroom when there are kids running around? Very poor management. Clean the restrooms and showers throughout the day. Your payroll savings shouldn’t inconvenience your paying customers. Difficult to find site and difficult to drive to the site-can’t turn around anywhere.

We decided to escape from the world for a bit and stayed here!! Exactly what we needed!! Quiet, peaceful, so clean, easy and comfy!!! We camp pretty often and have shifted expectations with bathroom cleanliness at campgrounds!! I can’t even explain the cleanliness here!! Every time I entered the bathroom for any reason, it seemed like someone had just come through and cleaned!! I’m used to bathrooms with cobwebs, questionable corners and sometimes just plain gross. These facilities seemed brand new, no webs and incredibly clean!! I wanted this review to be quick but I haven’t even mentioned the cabin or the bed…The cabin much like the facilities seemed brand new!! Again… No signs of spiders or bugs! Honestly it seemed like we were the first visitors even though I know they have been there forever. And the bed… I looked at it and was a little nervous, seemed a little thinner than I had imagined or hoped for. Then I laid down… I don’t even understand, the mattress is thin and yet so so so so comfortable!! But I mean like really comfortable!! Not comfortable for camping… comfortable for sleeping anywhere!!Ugh… trying to keep it short so one last thing. The breakfast!!! Pancakes were fresh and fluffy!! So good and not at all what I was expecting for the price. My daughter and I both had left overs!! I think we spent $8 for 1 coffee, 1 juice and 2 servings of pancakes!!! And we had left overs!! Already planning our next trip out to this campground!! Definitely staying longer next time!! Five stars just don’t give this place the credit it deserves!!Rooms: The only option above, for the cabin, was “luxury” or “romantic.” We stayed in a cabin with family and friends. It was not luxurious or romantic for us. It was so so comfortable and incredibly clean!!!! And peaceful!!! Kind of perfect, for us!!!Safety: This is one of those places that you really don’t have to worry!! Kids are playing at one of the playgrounds or hiking around the sites, we could hear them where ever they went!! Never had any concerns about their safety, even with the cars and trucks driving to their sites!! Super respectful!!Noteworthy details: Had to revise my review after reading some other reviews… we have Verizon and had far better service than we have at home!! Every employee that we encountered was more than friendly!! Welcoming, engaging and super helpful!! True that they do not have hot tubs or a pool but since we booked online, we were able to see exactly what amenities were available and did not expect a surprise hot tub. It rained almost half the time we were there and still not a moment lost!! So much fun… even in the rain!!! Ugh my review just got longer, sorry about that!! Highly recommend this KOA!!!

I wish I could rate it 4.5 stars mainly because its a KOA and essentially a RV parking lot but there is so much great here I rated it 5 stars. First as you seen in many places around the location they are the highest KOA in the US at around 10,000 ft. This might bring some challenges of getting trees and other vegetation to grow so the sites are kinda barren some light grass between sites. The KOA is on a hill so generally you can enjoy some great views no matter where you are parked. We had a site with power and water but no sewer. Full hookups in a nice to have but no required. We did do a quick dump on the way out at their dump station. The people were incredible friendly and nice. The main building had a well equipped store with clean bathrooms and a hummingbird feeder which was quite busy and fun to watch. They even have a pizza place where you order and they deliver it to your camper. Nice touch. They have some outdoor rec stuff like playgrounds, volleyball court, etc but no pool. That might be hard at 10,000 ft where it does not get really warm. The wifi was a bit slow but it was a very busy weekend. Most sites seemed pretty level but I got one that needed 5 sets of blocks to level. Luckily I had enough. Most of the neighbors were polite and fairly quiet. Just had one nearby rig that sounded like they were running their A/C all night. As KOAs go this one was nice and I would recommend it to others.

Overall we liked this KOA and it's in line with other KOAs we've been to. The best thing was the internet speed. We didn't have any issues with streaming and that was with the sites pretty full. The KOA is welll maintained and there are two playgrounds for the kiddos and a dog run. We saw the dog run being more used than the playgrounds. We did not use the showers since we have our own in our camper but looked in and they looked fairly clean and private. We did order pizza one night after we had gambled a little at cripple creek. The price was good although you get what you pay for and I wouldn't say it was any better than a frozen pizza.Overall I would stay here again if we came back to this area.

What an amazing KOA! Hosts were extremely friendly, the store was well stocked, and there is a public kitchen area with both a gas grille and an electric stovetop and a sink for washing dishes. Showers and bathrooms were clean and accessible. I had one of the deluxe tent sites and they come with electricity and water, a sheltered picnic table, and a large gravel pad. There is also a trail going up to Trachyte Knob which is a 10,800 feet point above the campground; it took me about 2 hours to do the round trip and was pretty strenuous at times but the views are amazing! The trail starts on private property so be respectful, stay on the trail, and don't leave any trash. Huge thank you to the landowner for allowing access to Trachyte Knob!

The grounds are nice and quiet. The facilities are clean and the showers are excellent. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the staff need to have a better understanding of the vehicles and campers that are coming to the site. We are in an overland rig and they gave us a tent site on the side of the hill making it almost impossible to level the vehicle. They had other sites available that would have been better suited for our rig if they knew or just asked what we were needing. Other than that, it’s amazing place to camp.

My parents stayed here with their trailer and the view was beautiful! I was amazed on how updated the showers and bathrooms are where with the showers, there is a door so you get ton of privacy. I might consider staying in a cabin in the future although I’d probably still wear flip flops for the shower in case. You can also order pizza at this KOA which was nice.

We have loved staying at this campground! We booked a cabin which consisted of two rooms: one room with a full-size memory foam mattress, and one room with two twin-size bunk sets.First impression of the campground is how easy it is to find, with beautiful views of the mountains from every direction. There are adorable playgrounds on each side of the main building. The cabin was immaculate and homey with cute decor throughout the cabin. The benches and shelving fit our dry goods and luggage well. The cabin also included a space heater for each room which was perfect for the cool nights and little bit of rainy weather we encountered. The showers & bathrooms are cleaned daily and are some of the cleanest campground facilities I’ve used. Water temperature and pressure in the shower was also noted as excellent. The campground kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, sink, and dish soap.We rented the pedal carts for our kids and they had a blast for 2.5 hours straight! They are extremely affordable and well-maintained.Lastly, we had encounters with several of the staff, including the owners, and every encounter was cheerful, friendly, professional, and genuine interest in making our experience the best one possible. We will absolutely be back again!

This is a great park! It is very well staffed and cared for. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the sites are close together with little roads and built on a slope. Inexperienced drivers would likely have a hard time. Tow vehicles need to be parked up top as there isn't enough room to park with your rig. The park is at 10,000 ft elevation so be prepared for some amazing views and thin air!

Beautiful and CLEAN KOA. Cleanest KOA I’ve ever been to. Best views too. Yes, it’s a little tight if you have a bigger rig, but you’re on the side of a mountain! What do you expect? There was a great hiking trail to the top of a mountain behind our trailer too which was a great evening activity. The scramble up the talus field at the top kept it exciting!

WiFi was slow but dependable...much better than some campgrounds we've been to. The store and laundry were top-notch and clean. (We never used the bathrooms or showers). The employees were very friendly. This was a nice quiet RV park. The sites were close but adequate. It rained almost every single day for a little while but it’s the monsoon season. Most campsites are on a hill but spaces were surprisingly level - all pull-thrus. Water/sewer/50 amp worked perfectly. We were in site 147 and would stay in this campground again if we're ever in the area. There are beautiful views of surrounding mountains and sunsets. The place filled up on weekends and pretty empty during the week.

Wow, what a great spot! We arrived fairly late in the afternoon and found our site to be unsuitable for our rig. We called the desk and they gave us a choice of several other sites, one of which worked out perfectly. Great views and rumbling thunder storms only added to the fun. Cripple Creek and the area is very interesting and we actually walked away as winners from the casinos. A very enjoyable stay and the campground has good amenities (and T-mobile) worked just fine. Always a fan of KOA, but this one was especially impressive to us. It is family owned and operated, and it is evident in the upkeep that the family is proud of their business. The cabin we stayed in was immaculate, they were even installing a screen door on it when we checked in, perfect for cool mountain breezes! The campground also has a fully-stocked outdoor kitchen which was a fun experience in itself.I think our kids' favorite however were the pedal carts available for rent.Lastly, keep an eye out on the way up! There are wildlife in the surrounding woods, we saw half a dozen mountain sheep on the way in!100% intend to return!

Amazing staff work this place. It is very clean and well kept, lots of little fun things to do around the campground and the area. The woman who helped us find trails was very knowledgeable about where to go. (Hit the trails early though, those parking lots fill up fast.) The cabins were better than the last several KOA I stayed at. The cabins have more details added and are better sealed so bugs aren't bunking with you. Very nice bathrooms and showers, with super cute decorations. And the grills out for use are a godsend during a burn ban. The camp kitchen is also a really nice feature that is crazy convenient. This is definitely the nicest KOA I've stayed at, even without a pool.

We had to find a new campground after the KOA in Cotopaxi closed. We decided to try this one and we were very pleased we did! (It is hard to change what you know and love!) This was a very quiet campground and for the most part very clean. (Six showers for the entire campground, men and women. Not the best.) The staff was fabulous! So friendly and helpful. We were so impressed, we have already booked for Labor Day weekend!
