We went down to CC today. What a beautiful, perfect day. There weren't a lot of people on our ride. The train ride was so fun and relaxing. The conductor was very informative. All the staff were really friendly.

This narrow gauge rail train trip was so fun. The trip is about an hour long on a coal fired steam engine drawn train. The conductor/engineer gives great informative commentary on all the sights along the way. There is a section of the route near the gold mine where the train whistle echos in an amazing way. I would definitely do this one again. So fun. Also there were some younger children on our trip and they also enjoyed the ride.

This was such a fun family trip! It was a little loud for my kids in the front car, but seat up early for your departure time in the 2nd or 3rd car if this is a concern. The views were awesome and the tour info was interesting but not droning! Thank you for the memorable trip!

One of the finest condensed history lessons provided of the area by the locomotive engineer (and CC&V Railroad owner) during the 45 minute Train ride!We arrived just as the full train was about to depart, so we purchased tickets for the following trip (first come, first served, so tickets cannot be purchased in advance)…perused the nicely stocked Station…and enjoyed delicious freshly popped Kelpys Kettle Corn located between the train station and local Museum. The train ride was an enjoyable trip along many of the local mines to Echo Valley. With ages from 3 to 63…we all had a great time. We felt prices were reasonable when considering the opportunity to “relive” a portion of history. The Engineer’s history lesson wet our appetite to visit all of the town’s several museums. We will definitely plan to visit and ride again.

Went first train out on Friday morning. It was full, and they added a car. Get there early if you need to go out at that time.Trip is 45 min long. Tip: Sit on the side facing the town for best views throughout the trip. Also, sit at back of 1st car or front of 2nd car to avoid the most smoke from the coal engine.Beautiful views. Nice commentary about the area if you can hear it. Easy trip.

Loved it!!All the people working there were super friendly and so informative. Listening to the history by the conductor was so interesting!! It's crazy how you can live your whole life in a state and not know about some things. It was also pretty cool to see the conductor run the train on coal!! Definitely not an easy job and they really ran around making sure everything was taken care of. Totally recommend 😊👍

A gem of a narrow gauge railroad! One hour journey takes you on a historic ride into the golden years of gold mining - and that includes the huge mine currently being operated outside of Cripple Creek. Knowledge and friendly staff. Cute rail station gift shop with something for everyone. Note the engine occasionally belches coal smoke so think about where to locate yourself. Rain? No worries as most cars have a real real roof overhead but are still open below to the elements. $1 off ticket coupon found on their website and there are child and senior discounts as well. Well done attraction appropriate for all ages!

First time riding the train. Hit it right on time, before they closed for the season, and during fall. What an amazing experience! I wish I remembered the engineers name, but she was very friendly, and very knowledgeable about the mines, and the area in general. It was foggy and cold as we went through the fall foliage. A unique, fun experience. My thanks to the entire staff. Great group of people.

I've unexpectedly ecome a fan of old railways. Just about every place I visit, I try to check out the local independent railway. I have to say that this was one of the better experiences. First off, it's rare to see so many operational steam engines. Second, it's a very scenic ride and was enjoyable the entire way. Third, having open air cars really made the experience more real. There's positives and negatives to that. I got soot on my face and some convinced water splatter from the engine, but I liked it. The engineer was unexpectedly young, which is was refreshing. The tour was minimal, but the dry humor kept things interesting. I'd love to go again.

Cripple Creek is a neat little town! We didn't have a chance to go to the casinos, maybe next time. My wife and I went there and walked around the town had a couple drinks nice place to hang out. We then got on the train and took a ride and the engineer was very informative about all the gold mining and the gold history. There were lots of families on the train and everyone had a good time as far as I could tell! We then jumped in our Jeep and took a ride on the Gold camp road which is a little rough but if you have a 4x4 it's not bad at all very exciting very beautiful views! Definitely stop at the information center, it has all kinds of history about the mining business!

This was a very cool & unique experience in this historic little town. Being able to experience what it must have felt like coming West to strike it rich during the gold rush days was absolutely fantastic.Trains have a fantastic history that adds to the overall experience of this train ride.

I'm not sure how to start, The staff was so incredible and so nice. Everybody on the staff was so warm and welcoming and friendly. Even in the Adversity of one extremely rude and obnoxious guest. The staff remain polite and professional at all times. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. The train ride was fun the engineer was extremely knowledgeable About the area. If you're in Cripple Creek or within a 100 miles of it. You must go take the train ride. If I had one negative thing to say it would be about it about it being such a shame that they've turned it into a gambling town. They're building a 19 story modern hotel in the middle of downtown. I think it's really going to take away from the experience of Cripple Creek and that's going to be a shame.

This was an amazing experience. Great with the kids. Good for all ages. The train driver speaks about the gold mines in Cripple Creek. Drinks and ice creams are served and allowed on the train ride. There are restrooms and picnic tables. Prices were fair. Fun learning experience.

Kind of a short little ride but worth the money. Gorgeous scenery and nice staff, especially the train engineer who seemed to love what he did. Worth going again, maybe in fall.

Super friendly and helpful staff. The ride was fun and informative with some great views. A nice surprise was that dogs were allowed (with the only restriction being that the dog can't take up a seat if the train was full). The smell of the train itself was pretty pleasant given that they were burning coal.

This is a fun trip on a coal train to learn about the gold mines in the area. The scenery is beautiful. The conductor did a great job sharing the history of Cripple Creek. It was cold so bring a jacket. Fun quick trip on a relaxing ride in the mountains.
