We had decided to drive up to check the store out. We decided on buying 2 Different breeds of snakes On the long drive home I had decided to check on them make sure they were okay when opening the bags I found that both of the snakes were covered in mites. When we got home we had to quarantine them and treat them they are finally in their new homes and doing great the customer service while we were there was good the store was nice if it was not for the condition of our snakes when we got them I would have given them 5 stars

Been in twice and both times I could feel the tension in the air . Seems like a couple runs the place and they are very angry . My second visit they couldn’t wait for me to exit so they could continue fighting . Poor animals hear that ! Also bought a betta that passed less than 3 days later . I called them to say the fish was very sick . No refund was offered . I want a bird and called to ask when they might have a variety . Was lied to by the man who told me the closest place to find a bird would be Farmington. Not true Durango is closer . So they don’t care about their customers much !!! I will not be back and that’s a shame considering I just moved to Corte and will always seek out pet stores . Oh and one more thing , some of the fish tanks are full of ick !! Heads up people .

Owners will make a high value sale to you and act like you’re a valuable customer, don’t be fooled, you’re a price tag to them. If you take the time to read to reviews, the bad ones are most accurate.I had a good experience in the beginning, that’s because I was spending a lump sum. Once time had passed and they saw I was no longer a value, they changed “policies”. Same daughter father management. I used to be a big advocate for this place, knowing their animal care was subpar at absolute BEST.However stupidly excused them for their willingness to find “quality” (willing to pay the most) homes.They told me the price of a hedgehog then changed the price once then saw a higher value in looks within a few days. Refused to work with me in the slightest knowing I was a loyal customer. It can be traced in messages. This place does not value loyal customers over a SALE. Trust the bad reviews I WISH I did.

I found this place on a search. Wasn't sure they would have what I needed as I have a roughly 1000 gallon pond outside. They had everything I needed there besides all the great other things they had for aquariums. This is a much needed stop at place if you have koi ponds on down to aquariums. Surprising how much stuff they had at all levels of Pets!

The owner is very knowledgeable and helped me find the best things for my new fish. They also have a great selection of snake food both frozen and fresh. I got a golden Algae eater he is the best thing ever for my tank! The little dude made quick work cleaning EVERYTHING and has kept the tank so nice and clean. We named him Jeffery and I love him♡ all the fish are healthy and very well taken care of. I just told him what my needs where and he found me my Jeffery. It is worth the drive to go here and worth every penny you spend. 10/10 would recommend 👌

I don't like to be too hard on pet stores, but this one is pretty rough. The store over all seems ok. However the conditions on done of the animals is not very good. There is a couple snakes in enclosures way to small for their size. One of the turtles shells is curling on the edges, based on how dim the tank was might have been caused by lack of uv.In a nut-shell this could be a very nice store if a little more attention was focused on the animals. I hope to be proven wrong in the future.

It's a relatively clean place, bought a Hamster here, the pets are cheaper then anywhere else, but DO NOT buy cages here. A $40 hamster cage on Amazon is $90 here!

They have quite a variety of pets and supplies. Nice clean in appearance and ample room for a wheelchair to maneuver throughout the establishment. The smell of urine was evident. The prices were a bit high, though they had everything well stocked. Great place for selection and variety, hits the pocket a bit.

What a great store to have in Cortez! They must have everything you could possibly want. Their fish selection is awesome! Snakes! Spiders! Birds!! So neat!If you need ANYTHING, this place has what you need at a reasonable price.

Worst customer service! The girl at the register was super rude and unprofessional. She wouldn't look up from her phone when we came up to her to ask a question.

Purchased a rabbit from them. Assured me it was a female. I purchasedt the rabbit in late July. Being told to wait until the rabbit is at least 6 to 8 months before spaying or breeding. For the last few months, she has been acting like the two 1 year old entact males. So today I decided to check her gender. She is a HE. I called the pet store to ask about the return policy. I have had him for more than a week, so no refund on the retun. The girl who spoke with me was also apathetic and rude.This buck has started developing health issues that my none of my other stock is displaying as well. It is obvious this lion head came from bad genetics.Please be aware when buying rabbits from this pet store, and the breeder who raises them. Because of thier bad business practices, will now have to take on extra vet bills to treat what ever disease this rabbit was born with.

I live in Durango, and needed some substrate for my Tarantulas that were being shipped to me. There was no substrate to be found in Durango.This was my first time at JC Pets, and it was definitely worth the drive, and I will gladly drive the hour there and back. I left with substrate, and a new tarantula.Good friendly service, and awesome prices.

The staff is nice and so helful they do sell certain animals (🐀🐁🐹🐇🐦🐢🐍🐠🕷) lots of fish to pick from they do have some pricey items but some good deals to, they sell crickets if you are needed those 🦎they also have jewelry and crystal things to buy up at the check out, come in and give it a look cant hurt right?

I would not recommend that you buy fish here! They are either sick or not taken care of I bought three Dalmation Molly’s and they all died maybe an hour after getting them I brought them back and she treated me like I was the stupid one all the information she gave me she did not give me when I purchased them! This store is very poorly ran and the girl is very disrespectful never would I recommend to anyone! :(
