I forgot my running shoes at home when I came to town and needed a pair of trail runners for the area... Jeff the owner was so fun and kind and I found exactly what I was after! He even sent me out the door with a couple of stickers. This store is really well stocked and supplied with quality gear - both new and used. Even fun stuff like socks and hats if you're not looking for adventure gear. High desert life carried my favorite footwear brands (Vasque, chaco, olukai) and I was really happy I came in! I wish this store was by my house on the front range instead!!! I spent $30 on a pair of (pre-owned) Salomon trail runners. Pretty pleased! Thanks Jeff!

‘Broke’ my old pair of Chacos while kayaking in the McPhee Reservoir and needed a new pair. High Desert Life was able to hook me up quickly with a new pair so I could continue on with my adventure. Great selection and customer service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Didn’t catch the employees name, but we stopped in for last minute gear before rafting the San Juan river, and he was super helpful by lending advice and some recommendations that made our river trip that much better! Kinda wish we went with the bigger groover that he showed us, but you live and learn lol.

Absolutely the best place to get gear, clothes & guide books in the four corners area. Plus an amazing exchange section where you can find hidden gems! Owners are always friendly and helpful. It’s a treat to go in every time I’m in Cortez!

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, decent selection of camping and hiking supplies. Selection of field ration type foods was a little limited but given the size of the store they had what was to be expected. Good for prep on a 1-3 day trip.

This is a great store with very nice, friendly owners. They have a good selection of quality products that tend to be from manufacturers - especially clothing - that you don't generally see at most outdoor equipment stores. The prices seem fair and the cost-to-quality ratio seems to be very good.

The best shop to stop by in cortez befor any outdoor adventure they have a little somthing for every outdoor activity. I got my jetboil and camel back from there still works great. Plus you get to play with the shop dog
