Recently purchased an Umbrella Cockatoo from here. Turns out he is younger than I was told, (according to his band) so that’s a win for me. Cages were all clean and birds seemed happy and healthy. Employee was very friendly however you could tell she had minimal knowledge and experience. Prices are a bit high but our boy was worth every penny.

The worker was very kind and helpful. However the birds seem to lack enrichment space and diet necessities. The smaller birds were in small crowded cages. And the larger birds seemed sad. But to end on a good note the cases and store were clean.

I came from out of state to purchase two birds not only were they way cheaper they very well taken care of. Not like Petco birds!!! I would definitely purchase birds from him again.

Not long a ago we bought a cockatoo a very gentle and healthy bird, all in perfect condition, the owner is very friendly and you can see that the other birds are safe and in a good condition too

Several Birds in bad condition cages not big enough and a love bird caged all by itself which is completely unacceptable. Several birds seemed stressed out. Would love to save the birds from that environment but I won’t be supporting a business like this

Blatant animal cruelty. Too many birds in small cages without enrichment, clearly stressed and quite a few were in bad shape. One love bird was even alone in a cage (you don’t have to be an expert to know that is cruel). This place needs to be shut down.

Cool, and beautiful birds. Very pushy staff.Also no photos or video, thought I'd warn anyone cause they have no signs anywhere about it and I was quickly asked within five seconds of taking my phone out to photo an item for my grandmother (who has birds) to purchase in the future possibly. I understand that animals don't need phones in their bubbles. But considering they have a lot more than a few per cage, I don't understand why me taking a photo of a boxed bird accessory is so much🤣🤷 anyways the store is fine, birds have been rescued as far as I can tell.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The living conditions for these birds is heartbreaking. They seem incredibly stressed and defensive in a way that makes me think they're being abused.

Just bought a Indian ring neck from here and I love him!!! The guys are so nice and helpful and informative.And the prices are the best in the springs....no cap!!

While I understand local, family owned businesses can have fluctuating hours, it is inexcusable to not have someone in the building by 9am daily at the latest to care for the birds in the store.My partner and I had waited around for an hour and a half AFTER they were supposed to be opened, which was supposed to be 9am according to both Google and their own site (I checked before going this very morning). By nearly 11 I was so furious that the birds had been left alone for so long without morning care that we left. I couldn't stand to hear them call out whenever someone walked by.The owner desperately needs to reconsider the store overall, or find someone who can care for the birds, especially if the owner seemingly has no idea about what it truly takes to care for birds

This store purposely wrote negative reviews on a competitors store without stepping foot or going into the store. That shows all the integrity they lack and their deceit and deceptiveness. No morals, clearly liars, and therefore no trust. This displays gross negligence and lack of trust as a consumer. I would not recommend any pet store that goes out of their way to make fake reviews, and then also has reviews of neglect in their reviews. If you would like a RESPECTABLE and well run facility to adopt a pet, skip this place entirely and check out fins and feathers sanctuary. They are amazing and you can see for yourself the level of care, love, and compassion they have for their birds. Shame on you for posting false reviews to another business.

Birds are not cared for and badly neglected. Owners and employees are very untruthful. They insisted this parrot could talk and do many different sounds but he does not know anything except how to be scared. They also lied about his age and other issues. His behavior shows he was clearly neglected badly. He is getting a little better now that we've had him a short while, but he is much older than they claimed as well, so he may never talk now. I'm hoping he will realize he is safe now as he is very slowly warming up to us and enjoying his new, safe home where he is payed attention to more than just being fed peanuts. He seems more comfortable now that we've been showing him a better environment. However, I feel really bad for the rest of the birds left in there.

The store was loud and we had a bad vibe in there, but we bought an African Grey parrot anyway and have come to realize how badly they neglect the birds in that store! Our bird is starting to get better now that he has been in our home, but it upsets me so very greatly that all those other birds are still there being neglected so badly! Also, they insisted the bird was 4 years old when the paperwork they gave me from a vet says this bird is already 7! Even with that in front of them, they insisted he was 4. And there were other lies the owner said. I feel so bad for the birds in that store!

Staff of the shop are going out of their way to leave 1 star reviews on the newest bird shop that popped up in Springs. The only negative reviews there are from this staff but the bad reviews here have genuine complaints about poor treatment of the birds. I've never been to either shop but I care deeply for birds and seeing one shop that mistreats birds and cares more about running a smear campaign against competition has left a foul taste in my mouth.

Exotic Bird Shop is a wonderful place to go! The birds sound so beautiful and the employees are so nice and helpful! And over all have the best price’s. There are so many type of birds. One thing about Exotic Bird Shop it’s very clean, even tho with so many birds! I really recommend to go to Exotic Bird Shop!

My daughter purchased a parakeet here four days ago. I noticed when I got home that it wasn’t active. It was quiet and staying in one place. I felt something was wrong with it right away. It passed away last night. Acted lethargic and the. She found it dead on the bottom of the cage. She was devastated! I contacted the shop and the lady was unwilling to return her money or help her in anyway! Less than a week! I do not recommend this shop at all. Pet smart at least has a 15 day dead or alive return policy! Something was wrong with the bird when she got it. My husband got it with her so I didn’t see it when she got it. Don’t go to a shop like this. Go to a bigger business that will provide a Heath certification and if anything is wrong allow you to return the pet. Worst customer service.

I adopted a macaw November 5th and he just died today February 1st. He was sold to me SICK! I'm so angry, not only did I lose my best friend, I'm out $5000 his cost, and $1500 i spent at the vet to try and save his life. I will be reporting this shop in hopes that they are shut down! 😡

Owner or friend of the owner went next store. Bought cigarettes. Opened the package and threw it on the ground littering everywhere and then threw the cigarette on the ground. Do not go to this establishment, they clearly do not respect Colorado Springs or the world and wildlife they are pedaling. Also, read the other reviews…yikes.

This is an amazing place! The owner hand trains the birds and also teaches you techniques to help you with your new family member. Their shop is spotless and the variety of birds there is amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to all bird lovers !! I am more then satisfied with my purchase!!

Definitely do not recommend coming here to purchase a bird. The conditions of the birds cages are similar of birds living in the care of someone who doesn’t know the proper requirements that birds need and can lead to neglectful situations. Most cages only had one or two perches (most were dowel perches which are very bad for their feet), had no or very little toys (most of the toys that actually were used were not something that properly stimulate natural behaviors and are not often played with), most had a seed diet from what I saw (which can cause fatty liver disease), and the larger birds, as I saw two cockatoos, were in MUCH too small of a cage (not enough to properly stretch out their wings or move around in the cage). Without proper enrichment, birds become depressed and can have behavioral issues. It’s nice to see a small business trying to succeed in these times but they are not in the business of properly caring for their birds. I definitely recommend going somewhere else who knows how to properly care for birds. After seeing everything, it makes me incredibly sad to see the conditions of these birds and people in it just for the money. If you’re looking on how to PROPERLY care for your bird, please do your research. YouTube has great sources, some of which is BirdTricks, or Elleandthebirds. This is just not how birds should be cared for or advertised as such.

There aren't many parrot/bird shops within Colorado but when I visited this one it was LOUD. Way too many birds crammed within small cages, very overwhelming for the birds. Owner does not speak English so it is hard to communicate since the employees who translate don't have any knowledge about parrots/birds.

We just drove all the way from Peyton because Google said this business was open and when we arrived no hours posted, door locked and no lights on with about 4 bums hanging around outside and one sleeping on the the corner of the store..... sad times we live in. Customer service down the toilet. Isn't there laws against animals being kept in complete dark stores with no lights??? I honestly do not think birds should be in darkness during the daytime.

Place was nice, had a good selection of birds. The lady on the counter was nice but she did have a little bit of a language barrier made it hard for her to understand my questions and me understand her answers. Other than that it's good place to check out, check out the tucan they have, yea a tucan! I've never seen one for sale before

Do not support this shop! The proof is in the photos. These parrots have little to no toys (even though parrot toys are sold here), wood chips in the bottom which can be harmful to their sensitive lungs, and they have the parrots on a terrible seed diet that can cause fatty liver disease. From what I understand, they are also refusing to test current parrots for concerns of PDD. Please go elsewhere. Do not even visit if you have parrots.

All the cages were filthy, the birds had little to no enrichment and the man working there didn't speak any English at all and didn't know how to work the register at all!
