Seven. Today I found seven out of 27 (1/4) of the betas dead on display at Castle Rock’s Petco. 4+ alive with clear swim bladder problems. It was evident that no team member had checked on these betas for a while——1/4 of your betas probably didn’t all die in the course of a day. If you had checked on them, you would have seen that 1/4 of your fish were dead and needed to be removed. They may just be fish, but this is still abuse. Team members of course don’t have control over the small cups betas are placed in, but you most certainly have control over whether they’re being cared for frequently enough. At least take them off display.- A “Karen” for the betas

Very disappointed with the attitude and being told that the kid did not believe me when the day before I had my service dog washed and a bit of a trim done. I am very cautious with how my boy is treated. That night, after we were home for a bit, he started licking like he had some really sore areas.I took pictures of the rash he suffered from and still suffering from that night. I was told in no uncertain terms that a veterinarian had to call to tell him that my service dog suffered this rash.Not only that, but I would not have gone back to the store with the pictures and being worried about his health. Currently, I'm not sure if I would want to go back if I get that type of attitude from a manager at the store. The young lady at the register wanted to help, but could not at that time. The rash pictures are on his left side, the clean area is on his right side.

Went there to buy a betta fish. The man first told me that it was a requirement to bring water to test in order to buy a fish. Not a big deal. Then he told me "you have to be 18 to buy a fish". I'm covered in tattoos and am over 18. He then asked for my id i showed him he accused me of it being fake. Why the hell would I go through all the trouble of pulling out a fake id to buy a damn fish. I then asked for a manager and he replied "Sorry but there's nothing my manager can do". I was so fed up I went to petsmart picked the fish I wanted. No need for an Id, no need for some water testing and the store is 100 times cleaner and brighter.

Changing my review from 1 star to 5. It isn’t fair of me to rate the whole business based on one bad experience with one worker on a rough day. I have been here many times since they first opened and my experiences have always been what going to a pet store should be - fun and a treat! Anyway, on to what I love about this place. They have the best bettas. I always get healthy bettas here and my latest edition is fast becoming my new favorite. Whoever their supplier is is very responsible about their health, making sure they are free of parasites. I never have to medicate them. They are happy and healthy from day one. I recommend becoming a VitalCare member because you save 20% on fish purchases as well as supplies and it can pay for itself if you are a serious hobbyist. Sharing a photo of my sweet Ellie, my long-lived betta who grew to be 3” and very spunky who I got from this Petco. When she passed away last year I was heartbroken, but the other day I found what looks like her spitting image as a baby. She even did the same wiggle dance when I picked up her cup that the first Ellie did which captured my heart. “Little Ellie” now is a special part of my home. She is in the second photo. I hope she will grow up to be as beautiful and big as my beloved Ellie the first. Thank you Petco!

I registered for training classes (in December) that started January 13. I received numerous reminder text messages, including a reminder one hour before class started. I arrived at the store to check in, only for a manager to let me know that the trainer was no longer at Petco. When I shared that I thought it was ridiculous that I received reminders and was only learning it was canceled because I showed up, the manager on duty tried to blame it on the ex-employee like it was her fault. I don't care how the system works, if Petco offers a service, and you lose that service it is up to YOU to find out and notify people that you no longer offer said service. Then because I didn't have my receipt with me (because I thought I'd receive the service), the manager couldn't refund me and told me I'd have to call Corporate. I asked him to call Corporate for me, ya know, to provide good customer service, but he declined and walked away. I called corporate, and they refunded immediately. Needless to say, though it won't matter in the grand scheme of things, Petco lost a customer today.

First trip there will also be the last. Didn't know this place was around until petsmart said I might find something there that they didn't have, so we went to petco in Castle Rock.Initially the female was attempting to be helpful to find the item we were looking for, then turned rude. Was ok that they didn't have what i was needing, but also asked who could help with getting fish...with a snotty expression while walking away "you'll just have to wait, I'm busy".The gentleman that asked if we needed assistance as we were leaving was nice enough, but the female had already soured the first petco experience. If they hate the job so bad, why work there?

I did have a 1 star review up here from some years ago. But, our last phone call and visit was an amazing experience! Our 8 year old has been bugging us for a tarantula for months now! After he did all the research and saved "enough" money, it was time. My wife called first and talked with "Colin". Colin was EXTREMELY helpful and courteous over the phone. Very knowledgeable and answered every question we had. Upon arriving to petco about an hour later, Colin was just as, if not even more helpful! He was great with my 8 year old son, and walked us through exactly what we needed and what to expect from our new pet! Colin went above and beyond by even putting together our spiders new home for us. It's amazing what a difference there is when someone cares about their job and works to be proficient and professional! Thanks again Colin! And petco! We'll be back!OH, the Mexican Redleg tarantula we bought is doing great! He molted about 2 weeks ago and has been eating us out of house and home ever since!

I did a curbside pickup when I got to the store I waited in my car for over 20 minutes and no one came out. I decided to go inside to pick up my order and the store was almost dead. Normally I don't mind but the reason I did the curbside was becuase I needed to get to work.

Sale tags always seem to either be in the wrong location or expired and its frustrating when I think something is on sale and then come to find out at the register its not on sale. Seems to happen a lot!

Embarrassing and lazy staff----> saltwater tanks were dirty and disgusting---> everytime I have come here there have been fish without price tags. I Asked the associate upfront what the price was and how long the two fish I was long for were there as well as if they are eatting. She didn't answer either question instead she said that their aquatic specialist had just left and she didn't know. The Associate did not go above and beyond to help me and make a purchase did not try and retrieve the information she just to me that she works tomorrow and I express to her that I live about 30mins away she didn't seem phased to even attempt to find someone else who could give me the answers.Worst and most Embarrassing Petco in yet.Unknowable staff, lack of leadership, and worst of all lack of care towards their animals.

Went in to buy anti chewing spray. The cashier made some unsolicited comments that just weren’t necessary. She asked questions like “why don’t you crate train” and “why dont you try using a gate” maybe she thought she was offering harmless suggestions but the bottom line is that it’s none of your business and it’s rude to pry. Our choice to use that spray doesn’t effect anyone else so maybe just don’t comment? Just a thought.

It was nice to get our package on the day that it was forecasted to arrive for a change. The last time it was 3 days late.However, once again the delivery company's driver left the package out by my mailbox which is about 200+/- feet from my front door. That's why I wrote to deliver it to the front door. Plus I just had my 4th back operation on September 26th, which means I certainly can't pick it up.This had become a constant battle and I'm getting tired of it. I am going to research other providers like Chewy who may be able to do a better job than you!

I come here twice a week for dog food and crickets for my tarantulas. The new general manager Mike was very disrespectful. I asked for small crickets and asked for them to be on the smaller side. He said you’ll get what you get basically. I hope maybe they can find some better management for this store in the near future

Went in to buy an inflatable dog collar for my 7 month old Husky who just got spayed. Seemed pricey for what I got. $40 for large. Not saying it is a Petco thing for sure. Check out was quick and painless.

We have been the vet for 5-6 hours after a visit there. The groomer used an eye wash that contained rubbing Alcohol. I would not recommend this store more less this company for grinning. NERVER COME HERE. On top of that when we called the manager. He was VERY Rude.

Wife just called the store and asked when our Grooming appointment was for the following day Michael who is the person that answered the phone and told her that she must’ve missed dialed he’s not the Grooming department. She told him in the automated choices she pressed Grooming . He said that he couldn’t transfer to try again. She tried again got him again this time asked him what she should do? that the automated choices kept going to him, she asked him. Could he go over to the Grooming department and find out this information he refused she asked for a manager, now HE is the manager and at the end of the conversation said “Have a GREAT FREAKING day.” Not professional, and I still don’t know when my dog appointment is I guess we’ll need to go down there in person

This Petco is a really nice, new pet store near the Castle Rock Outlets. It was very well stocked, better than any others I've been to lately! Shelves are full, treat bar is open with lots of options, and staff was really friendly. I was greeted walking into the store, and the cashier was friendly and helpful when I checked out. This is my new go to Petco, and I would recommend!

I have never been to a Petco store as this one! The store was in complete disarray! Staff wasn't knowledgeable about products in the store and there was no organization of products. Store looks and smells awful. I went up to counter where the gentleman was not friendly and was in a hurry to get back to his text on his phone. Bad management! I will not return to this location.

Brie is the best pet stylist! She loves and cares for my pup, Milo, genuinely! Brie has been grooming Milo for five years! Milo is anxious and Brie understands and knows how to work with him! Brie does an outstanding job everytime!

Nice and clean. People are nice. Great selection but I gotta say, I feel sorry for the animals. Reptiles are kept improperly. Feeder insects? You'll be lucky to find any of them alive. I only come here as a last resort.

This is the third time this store has been out of stock of the large bags of Acana dog food. I was asked to come back in a few days since their pallets just arrived and the large bags were at the very bottom of the pallets. So I bought the small bags to get me through the week. I waited, checked online and called the store to no avail there still out of the Acana dog food. Every other store within 20 miles has it but this one. Not sure of they aren't stocking the shelves but there are literally pallets of food all over the stores floor. The customer service rep named Michael wouldn't go check the shelf for me to confirm if the food had been stocked. Won't be buying from here ever again. I'll drive the 20 miles to Littleton.

Normally don't shop here because of prices and selection but found my way to just browse this store. very very clean and tons of staff to help it was like i never been in brand store. loved the collar section and even purchased a few things. i will be back for sure thanks PETCO

I went to the store to try to purchase an aquarium plant at 7:25. I was told they could not serve me because it was too close to closing. They close at 8pm. I did not want an animal, just a plant. Very poor service.
