ive gotten 3 pups from bearpoint over the years and all 3 have the natural ability to point at a very young age.i couldnt be any more pleased with these dogs and will be going to colorado to pick up my 4th pup in a few years

One female out of Savage and Mattea 2018 - she is a lovely, birdy dog. However, she is on daily incontinence medication and hormones.One male out of Savage and Rosie 2019 - he was born with a severe overbite, diagnosed and treated by multiple veterinarians. This genetic defect was not disclosed before I picked up the puppy at 8 weeks. A surgery was required at the cost of $2000 to permanently cut down his teeth so they fit into his mouth. He was also determined to be cryptorchid and we were forced to sterilize him at 6 months to prevent unexpected litters with defects. Once discovered we requested a refund because it was clear a veterinarian had not been involved in his first 8 weeks. A refund was never offered, but a replacement puppy was eventually offered, but puppy is a family member and in no way were we going to return him, or accept another puppy with possible genetic defects. At 2.5 years old he was diagnosed with genetic, severe, knee ligament issues in both rear legs and he had a $4000 in 2022 and is scheduled for the other knee in 2023 for another $4000. The surgeon said that anatomically he is a bad case, with excessive sloping of his tibia causing excessive ligament damage. He has never hunted because of his defects, which was the purpose of purchasing him in 2019.

My pup tried to retrieve a pheasant when she was 10 weeks old! She’s now 9 and has been a wonderful companion and is still a great hunter. Has the best nose of all the dogs we hunt with and is fast, still capable of running down birds. Has gone on point over several birds over the years - always a thrill!

Everyone beware: We obtained one of their dogs who is now almost 3 years old. From the very beginning their were issues. A couple of weeks after getting him, he was diagnosed with HOD (Hypertrophic osteodystrophy). We contacted the kennels and even though it was diagnosed by an orthopedic surgeon and a board certified radiologist, they were not willing to help or do anything about it. Since then, it has been nothing but downhill. Despite going through extensive hunting training, he wants' nothing to do with hunting, will walk right over pheasants, and does not point. We completed with Penn Hip radiographs (which are much more accurate then OFA radiographs for Hip Dysplasia) and he was in the moderate category for getting Hip dysplasia at 18 weeks old ( yes, it can be done that early and was done by board certified orthopedic surgeons). He gas bloated when he was about 6 months old and then another two times causing him to have emergency surgery have a gastropexy to avoid GDV surgery. He also has severe food allergies. At almost 3 years old, he was taken to the vet see an orthopedic surgeon and he already has arthritic changes to his hips. This was supposed to be a well bred hunting dog that we wanted to breed and he has been nothing but a medical nightmare that won't even hunt. We have already spent over $20,000 in vet bills and he is not even 3 years old. Such a disappointment to say the least.
