Stayed 2 nights in 2 different rooms. This was a spontaneous trio so just playing the stay by ear. They are going through a remodel so not every room has ammenties, but they are working on it. Beds are comfortable and they have great water pressure in the tub, shower has decent pressure, but could be a touch higher. First room had an old CRT tv and a refrigerator, 2nd had a moder 32 inch flat screen but no refrigerator. It does seem dated but was built long ago and was tops for the time. Couple running it are very nice and have coffee in the office, no contenintal breakfast however. For hunter they do have a freezer available for your quarry, must be quartered at a minimum, sounds like a chest type. Would stay here again.Nearby activities: Got the narrow gauge basically right behind them, but not loud enough to wake you up.

We stayed here as a start to riding the NM Backcountry Discovery Route on our motorcycles. The room was satisfactory for the $70 price. The hosts, Lou and Jeremy were great. A thief stole my locked gear off my motorcycle, and Lou was super helpful locating the sheriff and immediately ordered cameras to cover all angles. Thanks

We went to vist family for the weekend, and this place was the coolest, I had told her I was trying to get ahold of Aliens, and look at the stars. She even said she would let everyone in the hotel know we wanted to see the stars in advance and she would shut all the lights off for us! They gave us the most amazing time! Everytime we go we stay there, you really need to check this place out!

U have to remember, once u roll off the beaten path....expect the unexpected. A basic Motel with the nicest owner. We were here for the train ride from the station next day, next door.Clean and quiet. Short drive to things and tranquil views of the northern hills of New Mexico just acouple miles south.I would stay again if ever in this area again.

This is a basic, older motel. The bed was good, the bathroom was clean. IT HAS AIR CONDITIONING. They accommodated our group by opening the breakfast almost two hours earlier than usual. The office lady was very nice. My experience does not relate to the previous reviews at all. It's not the Hilton, but a typical motel from the era. Plus, it's half the price of the new place in town (which does not have air conditioning).I would stay here again.

I don't enjoy giving bad reviews but if we're not honest, the system doesn't work. This motel was disappointing. It seemed to cater to transient construction folks, which is not unusual in this price range but it was loud and "well used". The carpet was so stained you didn't want to take your shoes off and the cushions of both chairs so stained you felt better putting a towel down before sitting. It was going to be a one star review but the continental breakfast was nice, with home baked muffins, bread and a waffle maker. We'll look for other accommodations next time.

The bed was the worst, gave my husband a back pain for several hours after an uncomfortable, sleepless night. I woke up all night and had a back pain too. I found an old spider in my side of the door, I don't think they even sweeped the place before. The comforter was old and seemed dirty. The pillows were flimsy and uncomfortable.I gave them two stars just because the staff was nice, specially the lady that checked us in. However, the rooms need A LOT of maintenance. Would NOT recommend or go back if I needed to.

Exactly as advertised. Dated, but clean. So for those of us who remember how a motel looked, this is a trip down memory lane. The owners are awesome! Very great to work with! Who also have hearts of gold and have started a dog rescue organization that if you want to donate, these are the ones to donate to!

We recently stayed at this hotel for two nights. The room was clean, but the beds need some major updating. We could feel the bed springs through the mattresses and the pillow were flatter than pancakes. The so called breakfast was quite lacking. Had we not been bound for two nights, we certainly would have tried to find other accommodations the second night.Would not recommend this place to anyone else.

My husband works on the road and we called and made a reservation for at least a week but told them it could be more. We needed a microwave and fridge in our room because we live there while on the road. Plus I stay there most days during the day and I'm pregnant. When we got there we checked in and paid and got to our room. It was clean but beds were awful and the bathroom was disgusting. We had absolutely no cell service and there was no phone in the room. My husband asked the manager of we could have a refund because we have to stay somewhere where o have a phone incase I were to have complications since I'm pregnant. He absolutely refused to give us a refund. Said we have to cancel 24 hours in advance. We packed up and left anyways because I have to have a phone so we're out $70 but we drove to alamosa and are much happier.

This place has been upgraded somewhat since the last time I stayed here. But, still needs a lot of work. Their " breakfast " consists of coffee, no other drinks, not even ice water,, and some store packaged sweet rolls. If you want a low cost place to stay overnight, it's ok but barely.

When I got there I was told there were no rooms available because of plumbing problems. These are apparently of long standing. I did talk my way into a room since I had already paid for it on Priceline. The room was old and out of date but clean and functional. Wi-fi works but is slow. The maid did not come in during my two night stay. The plumbing in my room worked fine. The lady who runs the place was nice and did get me a room after discussion. I would only stay here again if I had no other choice. Reserving a room does not mean you will have one when you get there. If you are coming in to ride the train I might suggest staying in Alamosa and driving the 25 or so miles to Antonito the morning of the ride.

We stayed here last week. It was not a pleasant experience. The room reminded me of cheap motels in the 1970s and the beds were probably in use then. The room was dirty but there was an envelope in the room to remind you to tip the housekeeper. The owner of the motel put a list of grievances he had against his guests on the door to the bathroom. There were people living downstairs who had a clutter of personal possessions in front of their rooms. This made the motel look like lodging for the homeless. I understand that small businessmen have a hard time making a living but looking at this business as an outsider would could help this man have a more successful business AND happier guests

Needs an upgrade. Man not friendly at all on arrival.Rooms cold despite heater being on all night. Need to supply extra blankets and more than 1 pillow per person.Dog next door which kept barking when it heard a noise.Man upstairs snored all night could hear him walking around. TV not working. No coffee making facilities in room,no fridge to put food in,not a glass to drink water out of ...exceptionally poor.Reflects the cheap price unfortunately....certainly better outside...I would suggest bringing a tent ....it would be more comfortable

We came through Antonito late at night on July 4th weekend from Taos. Hotels were anywhere from $150-$250 due to the holiday. We found the Narrow Guage Railroad Inn at a very reasonable price. The room was clean and the manager was super friendly and hospitable. My husband left his driver’s license there and the manager 2-day mailed it to us at no expense. We will stay here again.

The wood floors are a drag, should have something outside to wipe your feet on, the showers are for midgets other than that not to bad. The staff here is very accommodating and very nice they go out of there way to make sure your stay is a good one!

Simple, clean and 4:20 friendly, everything we needed on our first night in Colorado. Very reasonably priced, no extra fees for smoking cannabis in the rooms and run by friendly, cool people. Definitely a good place to start your Colorado vacation.

It's ba great place to stay. Good beds. Clean. Two suggestions. They should have a microwave and small freezer/refrigerator combination. For some people a coffee maker would be be good.

My wife and I (mid-60's) traveled around the San Luis Valley this past weekend. Mostly to see the aspens turning as we were traveling here. Before we left I looked up 420 friendly motels and found this one listed. That was my primary concern. After all we are in Colorado. The motel itself is located next to the actual Narrow Gauge Railroad which has daily runs to Chama NM. We've taken this excursion in the past and loved it. Anyway the motel was built my guess in the 1970's ish. The building itself has been kept up as the parking lot and the general appearance overall. The rooms were exceptionally clean and again kept up structurally. I want to emphasize the overall cleanliness of this place. Now the bad.. The beds are probably original to the structure....LOL....they need to update the interior very badly.

5 star for Friendliness. 2 and a half star for the cleanliness and Breakfast. Old pastry and Doughnuts Blah! Burnt coffee no thank you. There was fecal skid marks on a toilet seat. Received a free room next night for it. That room we got for free was up to par and like it should have been. Elisabeth was a Great Hostess. James cleans better than the lady. Get the 2nd floor, all in all Shxt Happens I suppose.

Jennifer and Steve have been running the Narrow Gauge Railroad IN for many years now. You don’t know how nice it is to see the same face. They know what they’re doing. They are hard-working great hosts, if you’re a good guest. I only him saying that because I work at a hotel too. Some guests can be a pain in the butt!! (Someone needs to create a trip advisor for guests to rate them). So people need to learn you get what you pay for! If you’re expecting someone to kiss your ass, hot towels and a butler snap out of your fantasy. If you want to clean room, a comfy bed to lay your head down on, a warm relaxing shower, a safe place to stay, good location to the train and breakfast in the summer that’s the place. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the Marriott or Hilton. They don’t oversell and under deliver. It’s a perfect place if you’re traveling through. When I travel I believe in being intelligent and spend my money and doing stuff rather than a 100 star hotel room you hardly spend any time in. As long as I get a good nights sleep I’m happy, and is a perfect location when it comes to riding the train. From what I understand if you want to go to the bar they will even drive you into town and pick you up along with the dispensaries. I was forgot there 420 friendly. They are knowledgeable and can point you in the right direction. They also have coupons and my favorite place is the 420 Green Genie downtown Antonito. The green genie has great prices in don’t have rates for people in town and Increase the rates for out of towers (like some shops do). Plus they are huge animal lover’s. I always travel with my dogs.

Stayed here as it's very close to the train station (cumbres/Toltec RR). Friendly staff. The hotel is older, but it is clean, and reasonably priced. Beds are comfortable. Quiet, small town. I'd stay here again.

I stayed at Narrow Gauge Railroad Inn November 30 through December 2, 2018 in Room 107. This room had bed bugs. I got over 80 bed bug bites throughout my body. I reported this issue to the manager, Elizabeth, who advised me that she would call me back with their insurance information so that I could file a claim. After days of waiting to hear back from her, she finally responded to me stating that upper management told her to tell me "to do what I needed to do." She refused to give me any insurance information. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOTEL!!!!!!! IF THIS WOULD ALLOW ME, I WOULD NOT GIVE THIS MOTEL ANY STARS AT ALL!!!

Much improved, new management as well. Owner is starting to put money back into the hotel, because it did need renovating, which is nice. Comfortable and clean if somewhat dated.

Older and outdated motel but as the owner said "it's clean". The tv in our room was maube a 19 inch model from the 1980"s. The bathroom wss tiny and cramped . Once you accept the room there are zero refunds so look before you buy.
