Location, location, location. We loved it and are returning in June. We plan on using it as our central location for 6 days of exploring the mountains. Hopefully we will hit the peak of flower season this time and conditions are good. We've been too early once and the flowers weren't open yet because of a late spring, then we missed the blooms because of poor weather. Hopefully the 3rd time is a charm. Irregardless the facility is a great place to start the journey around the area.Rooms: Not bad. We were in the old rustic cabins and then the newer river front ones next. Had a great time, met some fun families and made some friends.Walkability: Plenty of resort area to walk around on. Careful on the roads however

Went here for our Anniversary dinner this evening as we heard it was under new ownership and the food had drastically improved. I wish this was the case. The good: The Brussel sprouts were amazing, the side salad was OK, the french onion was sub-par.The bad: I ordered the $55 Ribeye (Medium Rare) with a double side of veggies and a side salad. I thought it was interesting the server wrote down nothing, but went with it figuring she was experienced. I ended up with a rare steak, like really rare, like still mooing, mash potatoes and my salad was forgotten. The server was nice and retrieved me a side salad and more sautéed vegetables upon request and offered to reheat my steak, but you can’t decide to heat up a steak after it’s been cut into several times, the juices are gone at that point and $55 for a reheated steak is a bit beyond what I’ll pay.The server did remove the steak off the bill and she was nice. Whomever cooked the steak needs to repay the owners and maybe some time learning the difference between raw and medium-rare.We really wanted to enjoy this establishment as there is an extremely limited selection of good food places in Gunny, but here we are. Another one crossed off the list.Back to The Dive we go. ;)

The new ownership has done this place justice. Slightly more expensive but you get your money's worth and the food is outstanding. I left with an entire other meal. Excellent starters, excellent entrees, excellent cocktails, excellent desserts, and excellent service. You won't go home disappointed nor hungry. And they plan to make even further improvements. Do yourself a favor and eat here.Food & drinks: The cocktail menu wasn't overly long but they had all the classics I'd want and even some house drinks that I wouldn't mind trying. But for those of you who want a big selection they said they plan to add to it.For food the starter selection had several classics that I enjoy and the portions were two to three times what you get elsewhere. The entrees were excellent too and they plan to add to that is well. I'd be satisfied as is but for those who want more of a selection it's coming. The portions are big enough I went home with an entire other meal. Desserts are nothing to sneeze at either...save room.

My wife and I celebrated our grandson's high school graduation last Saturday night with our daughter and her children. We were a party of 7. The food was good and the service very good. What I really took note of was my discovery the next day from my credit card company that they did not add the tip I added. Why not? Because a 20% tip was automatically added because of our party size, I did not take note of that and added another 20%. It was a lot of money as it was a big group. They were super honest and did not charge the extra 20%, which they could have as I signed it! I am retired and particularly grateful for the savings. Thank you.

Great service for an empty restaurant at 5:30 on a summer Saturday. Before Vail bought it out it was such a nice spot. Good price for great food, now expect $40+ for an entree and only ONE beer on tap.Honestly, I understand changing of owners/business tactics, but I can’t believe it’s been narrowed down to some bottled beer, wine, and super expensive, out of state meat dishes (in an area of Colorado that has some of the best meat available).Head over to Three Rivers unless you make more that Six Figures.

It used to be a great experience going to the almont for breakfast, but things have drastically changed. The staff and everyone seems very unorthodoxized. No one ever bothered to check and see if I needed anything no one asked me if my food was good. Which this time it wasn't. All the servers seem extremely interested in what they were doing Not just at our table but at all tables. They sat us without menus we sat there for at least 5 or 10 minutes with no menus when as you're entering the building you're walking past the menu area and they don't even grab one for you. You have to ask for a menu I don't know things have just changed there it's not what it used to be.. no one seems to be on the same page in the restaurant..Truly disappointing I don't know what happened to the Almont as we used to know it 😔

No WiFi / very little cell service, no problem when you have views and sounds like This!Plenty of beds. No washer / dryer. Showers and toilets all worked. Front desk let us to late checkout / extend another night as our plans changed. They have a upscale convince store and a restaurant/bar at the hotel. Food was very good and the store had stuff for s’mores.Would come back in a heartbeat considering the price for the amount of people (vs hotel rooms). We did rafting next door (can walk there)

This is one of our favorite restaurants to come to! The restaurant and bar area are always clean, and everyone there seemed to be very courteous and helpful. I highly recommend coming to this restaurant for their various food choices as there are many of them to choose from. I had a blue cheese burger which was wonderful, with crispy bacon and it was done just the way I like and just the way I requested. I highly recommend this restaurant! 👍👍

We came in with a party of 5 on a Wednesday night. We’ve come in a ton of times being locals and have always had a good experience. Overall food and service was good, we got our bill and left over 20% tip. We looked at our bill the next day and noticed we had a 20% gratuity already added to the check that we weren’t made aware of nor was told about. In my 20 years in the service industry I’ve never been charged gratuity for a party of 5 let alone without being told it was already added. Seems a little sketchy, please do better.

Went here for lunch while in the area. The place was somewhat busy though it was a weekend afternoon. The food was good, but other than the green chili was nothing amazing. I had the bison burger, which was a fairly standard burger and while tasty nothing special. The green chili however, was very good! The service was pretty slow, though it did seem that they only had two servers for the entire place. Not sure I would go here again when in the area. Would either stop in Gunnison or Crested Butte. I have heard their breakfast is very good though.

Heard about the Almont Resort's All You Can Eat Fish Fry (Friday Night's) from a friend and since we were vacationing in the mountains near there we thought we would give it a try.Kyle was our server - what a great guy! Very attentive, funny, and outgoing! Sadly, he told us that they were not doing the "All You Can Eat" Fish Fry, but they still had Fried Fish platters. Not a worry at all - it was a huge plate and almost more food than you could eat anyway. For being a small resort and restaurant way back in the mountains we were really taken with the service, quality, ambience - pretty much everything. Ignore some of the other reviews where people slam the service and the long wait times. It did take a little while to get our food, but the kitchen was short staffed - THIS IS A REAL COVID PROBLEM - please be more sensitive to local businesses people! Enjoy the beautiful scenery and the fact that you are relaxing in the mountains. Since we were staying somewhere else, we didn't stay at the resort, but we will next time we are in the area and need a quick weekend getaway. We can't wait to come back again. Well Done!

We ate at Almont Resort 2 nights in a row. The first night we all had the nachos. They are huge! As an entree they easily feed 2 people and maybe 3. They had chicken, cheese, olives, beans, fresh jalapenos and onions. They were very good! The next night we all had bison burgers which were also large and tasty. One person in our party had the tomato basil soup and said it was excellent. We all had the fries which were also very good for battered fries. We waited a long time to get our food the first night but were served in a timely manner the second night. Both nights we had good, friendly waitresses. There are pool tables in the bar that can be used for 75¢ per game. None of us had a cell phone signal at the resort so if you're expecting a call this isn't where you want to be. I would definitely recommend the food at this restaurant.

Best chicken fried steak I've had in a long time. Nice place to chill and wind down after all day mountain driving. Staff real friendly and helpful. All 3 of the meals were delicious. Chocolate sundae melted in your mouth.

If I could leave zero stars I would. The Almont Resort is under new ownership and it's not the Almont Resort so many people know and love. The new management is rude and unprofessional. The menu is very different and the environment is not enjoyable. I was a patron of the Almont Resort for the past 9 years and worked there for 6.5 years. I'm embarrassed to step foot in there now. I will never support this business again.

My family came in today and were passed by numerous waitstaff multiple times who would make eye contact and then completely ignored us. The restaurant was not busy at all so finally I went up to one of the waiters just standing around at the bar and asked confused “so… do we seat ourselves?” because there were no signage. He replied in a short and rude tone “no. We will come and get you.” With no apology or recognition that we have been completely ignored since we walked in the door. So I walked back to my family and we left. All they had to say was “we will be with you in a moment”. Or honestly just saying “hello” is the bare minimum and they didn’t even do that. Very very disappointed by my first impression ESPECIALLY considering how over-priced the food was. Wish I could give zero stars.

I stayed at the Almont Resort for my Birthday this year. The resort was quiet and beautiful. The restaurant was exceptional in service and friendliness.Karrie checked me in and served me at dinner. The ribeye was fantastic as was the baked potato and vegetables. 5 stars all the way. I also enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant and again was served by Karrie and Amber joined her in wishing me a happy birthday. I was very impressed and enjoyed the conversations and the pleasant family atmosphere. That evening I returned and was served by Kyle and Amber. Excellent burger and onion rings and great conversation with Amber and Kyle bestowed a history lesson of the Resort as well as the museum in Gunnison. It was a great experience and I would recommend The Almont Resort and Restaurant to everyone. I know I will be back.

We have eaten at this restaurant many times and have always had great service and wonderful meals. However, last night we were the only table at the restaurant. The noise level from the kitchen and the waitresses was very unprofessional. My husband ordered a salad and crock of soup. He specifically mentioned that he wanted the salad first, then he wanted the soup. When our meals were ready, out came the salad and soup together.I ordered a veggie bean burger and also added a side of the collard greens that were offered. The collard greens were full of pieces of ham. Now, don't you think she might have mentioned that- since I ordered a vegetarian meal?!?So instead of the 5 star rating that we have always experienced...we give them a 3.

If you’re looking for the best breakfast in The valley, look no further. My personal favorite is their Huevos Rancheros! Beautiful setting, great service and delicious food. In the summer months, the hummingbirds will keep you company as you enjoy your delicious breakfast.

the food here is consistently good, service ALWAYS has a smile, the atmosphere is so welcoming because the staff are always so glad to see you. Ashley behind the bar makes a WICKED Moscow Mule and has a splendid vibe to go with it! All in all this is our favorite dinner spot in the valley, hands down.

Beautiful property but the cabins have seen better days. It's a shame really because the structures themselves are great, built with real craftsmanship. But they've been neglected and let go. The interiors are drab and dull and the carpet was so filthy is was crunchy. Each cabin had a really cute handmade window flower box yet not a single flower in sight; kind of a depressing place. I was so disappointed in the cabin, I refused to spend any money in the restaurant so I can't speak to the quality of the food.

Stopped for breakfast on the way up to CBMR. Such a beautiful spot. Breakfast was what breakfast should be. Everything we ordered was perfect. Our Server Carrie (sp) was busy but did a great job taking care to bring hot food hot and warming up coffee and filling water. This is a great place to stop. Portions were plentiful, delicious, and filled us up for a hike up the mountain.

Good food. Decent place too stay. Full service fly shop. Good bar and shows sports and even better the kitchen is opened again. STill have many of the favorites, nachos, slidders, and some really great burgers. They have gone to having fried chicken as a mainstay for dinner. It is always amateur hour on the wait staff, but that is part of the charm. Still a great place for Breakfast.

Went for breakfast. Nice outdoor deck and dining area. Bar area had pool tables and was very inviting. Food was very good, very nice menu selections. Service a tad slow, but they were busy with some large groups. We will return for drinks and dinner.
